Boys names don’t belong on girls. The notion that a girl needs a boy name to “sound strong” is ridiculous. You are saying that by default, girls aren’t strong in their own right.
I like unisex names. Robin, Jaime, there are a ton of them! My DD's name is super flowery and female hopefully she doesn't hate me for it. Although I tried to dress her gender neutral for awhile but all she wants is cupcakes, rainbows, dinosaurs, heels and purses
I've known some dudes with girls' names like Shannon and that is a bit odd to me but normal in some cultures.
What drives me more crazy is names named after luxury brands, like Chanel. C'mon - a name like that makes you look grasping, not classy!

I’m with you on the boy names for girls. And I also don’t like the off the wall spellings or weird pronunciations... someone named their DD Sarah but pronounced it suh-ray-ah. Just no.

While I agree that using a boys name for a girl (a la James Reynolds) is dumb, I disagree with the implied point about equality in genders. I’m a woman in medicine and I have had men make appointments with me under the assumption that I am a male (I go by my nickname which is a male name) and they have been upset because they wanted a ‘real doctor’. Legit said that to my face. Gender discrimination in hiring absolutely happens. Does it mean I’m gonna name my daughter James? No. But let’s not pretend that having an Uber-girly name may not make it harder in some industries.
*Me nodding in agreement about girls not needing boy names to be strong/equal* Oh right, technically I have a boy's name or at least the male spelling of a name that can go either way... LOL Whoops! My mom always said that when I applied to Harvard she didn't want them to know wether I was a boy or girl. At least in my industry social media has made this null and void- you're getting stalked before you're being considered.
My UO is that milk ruins coffee! I want my first slurp to be all delicious coffee bean grease that floats to the top. It's the best part!
I think it is silly to be expected to do all the extra things for each kid. Like super cute individualized pregnancy announcement, gender reveal, baby shower or sprinkle (like seriously for each kid?), custom birth announcement. And then the monthly photo shoots........ first kid I see it but come on Karen, this is your 7th kid. Pretty sure this is super unpopular opinion but that is how I feel.

Hahaha. I feel the same way about monthly bump pics on FB. No one cares that your baby is the size of a kumquat and has started to urinate into his waterbath you call a uterus.
@sassypants2010 I remember as a teenager my mom showing me her baby photos and stuff her parents kept. She was the second child and my aunt, her sister, had so many more pictures, was more celebrated before birth, etc. My mom was really sad showing me and told me that it really bothered her. I remember thinking I would never leave any of my kids feeling left out like that. Even though this is my 4th baby, I still do everything I have done with the last 3 and make sure to document everything for them.
The girl/boy names don’t bother me but I can not stand inventive spelling. It does not make your child special or unique it makes their future teachers think you the parent are an idiot and will certainly cause them to be judged in a professional setting. Sorry not sorry.
Speaking of names, I hate when parents pick a name that rhymes with their last name like Matt Mattson or Joy Joybird.

@babyroma my favourite is getting a scam call telling me "Mr. Stevi your wife is in prison pay us $$(can't remember amount) in Amazon gift cards to get her released". Now if it wasn't for the mister at the beginning I would have assumed they thought I was a gay woman, but no. Also having people ask for my husband Stevi, very confusing since that is me
My UO is that I hate when pregnant women act like they have a disability. Which, granted some are on doctors orders for rest. But some women get a positive test and all of a sudden they cant work without a chair, and cant lift more than 5lbs. And They set the stereotype. Because of them people treat me like I'm delicate, but I'm very independant and physically strong. I wont do anything to harm myself or my child, but I dont need anyone else telling me what I can and cannot do at work.
Re: UO
And in keeping with that... Unisex names are weird.
