Upcoming Appointments: not til 8/13 for 28 week check up
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): good but constipated blarg
Rants/Raves: rave- I’m on a week long family vacation in the outer banks! We got her Saturday afternoon. Only downside is it’s crazy hot but it’s supposed to rain tomorrow (and the Wednesday and Thursday) so hopefully that cools things off but also hopefully only rains one of the days so we can get to the beach.
Questions: none right now
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall for hiking and cooler temps after dying all summer!
Upcoming Appointments: MFM appt Thursday, OB check up 8/6
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): good for the most part still. I've been having some backaches more often so I'm getting a support belt I hope it will help with that.
Rants/Raves: Rave: so close to hitting viability week I can taste it! Rant: just wanting this week to go by quickly I can get to my MFM anatomy scan for more answers.
Questions: no
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Spring! I love the weather warming up and flowers blooming.
I feel my answer to this changes depending on where we live and what the seasons are like. I usually say summer, but summer in the south is dreadful.
Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow 7/23 for my 24 week appt
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Found out over the weekend that I can no longer handle fried/greasy food. Probably a blessing in disguise. My knees have been killing me, but I am going to blame the heat.
Rants/Raves: Rant: Had to go to the OB Thursday for cramping, ended up finding out I have BV but RAVE: Baby is doing great and everything looks good otherwise! Also, the heat is supposed to break today and I cannot wait. Annnd started a new workout program that I think I am going to love.
Questions: None atm
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? AUTUMN. I am so excited for all of it. Apple cider, pumpkins, the colors, the temperatures and clothes, the festivals, etc. I could really go on and on.
Upcoming Appointments: 8/5 for 28w appointment and glucose test
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): just tired.
Rants/Raves: This weekend was not the best.. it was so hot, and I got into an argument with MH yesterday about how messy the house is. He's very critical but does next to nothing in terms of cleaning until it hits a point that he deems unacceptable, then he'll binge clean for hours. Then, he randomly had an alarm set on his phone for 3:55am, and I couldn't go back to sleep after that, so I'm just exhausted and I'm not over this argument and I just don't even want to deal with him later.
Questions: no
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall, absolutely... I love the early fall with its cooler but still warmish weather, fall flavors, colors, and smells, using my crockpot, fall beers.. I'm already completely over this summer and ready for fall, for so many reasons.
@dani_0921 I'm glad the cause of the cramping was figured out! I feel you on not being able to eat certain, I cant handle garlic anymore and it makes me so sad. Its one of my favorite things!
@gumby22c Thank you! I am too. Sad about the garlic!! That causes me problems on and off as well. I'm just telling myself I'll eat more healthily (sort of) now because of it, so it's all good...
@kopp5988 Enjoy the Outer Banks! I grew up in northeastern NC and my sister lives just across the bay from Emerald Isle so I love that part of the state!
@creamcheeseplease I'm sorry you and your husband are arguing. My husband and I have different cleanliness expectations and it's definitely been a work in progress for us to be on the same page with things. It's hard bc you can't read their mind about what they expect so it's impossible to meet their expectations and maybe their expectations are unrealistic to start with!

Upcoming Appointments: 8/9 for glucose test and US follow up
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I am great pregnancy wise...occasionally I will get too full and be uncomfortable but it's sort of my fault. Saturday night we went out and had nachos with queso chorizo dip and pizza and then I had a mango cream popsicle. I should know I can't eat as much as my husband. He's one of those annoyingly skinny human garbage disposals.
Rants/Raves: I'm visiting my parents in a couple of weeks so my first baby shower will happen while I'm there and I'm excited although it'll be more of a small family get together.
Questions: I'm having some anxiety about planning for feeding just not knowing how breast feeding will go. What are some basics you guys recommend to have around as backup? I just want to make sure I have what I need to get her fed.
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall, by far! Perfect running weather, football (my husband went to Clemson so we are big into college football), my birthday, and now my baby's birthday!
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Tired, winded, but weirdly more energy? I also feel like my stomach is the size of a thimble! If I eat just a bite too much I feel like death.
I’m also so terribly sad that my fam left yesterday. I didn’t realize how homesick I was until they left. It really hurts that I won’t be able to share much of my first pregnancy with them. I really just wish I lived back on the East Coast.
Rants/Raves: v-day was yesterday!
Questions:
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? I like Fall on the east coast...summer here in socal isn’t bad either but never gets me in the mood to go to the beach.
@creamcheeseplease I’m so sorry for the bummer of a weekend! ☹️ Cleaning is what MH and I argue about most.
@mc0303 I'm sorry you're feeling homesick! But I'm glad you had a great time with their visit.
@runningfortwo81 I would suggest a few things.. having your pump in advance and all pumping supplies ready (in case you end up mainly pumping if baby has a latch issue), and I would also have some of the ready to go formula bottles on hand if you think you might be okay with giving formula. They have little bottles of pre-made formula that you can get and you can get these disposable nipples for the bottles as well. Since DS had problems latching and we used a nipple shield for awhile I'm also going to buy those in advance just in case.
@runningfortwo81 I would definitely have a pump and all those parts ready beforehand. I had bottles too. We seemed to get free samples in the mail and from the hospital for formula that I kept in case, plus I think I bought a small pack just in case. We needed to use a nipple shield in the beginning and even though that worked, she wasn't getting enough so we supplemented with formula. So it was nice to have some of the basics for both breastfed and formula fed available at home.

Upcoming Appointments: 8/5 for regular checkup and 1 hr glucose test
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I'm finally feeling like I'm getting a little more energy! I haven't really had any cravings yet.
Rants/Raves: Rave - I had a weekend where I did almost nothing! I feel so rested and just in a better state of mind than I have in a few weeks! I think I needed to recharge.
Questions: For all the STM+, when did you transition your other kids out of the crib? We want to use the same crib for baby #2, but currently our 2 year old is still in it and not complaining. We likely wouldn't need the crib until she is almost 3 but I'm wondering if it is best to transition her now when I'm still getting some decent sleep versus once the baby is here and possibly still not sleeping through the night as well. I'm anticipating some tough first few nights when we do make the transition.
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? I love all seasons, and am sad I don't live somewhere where I get 4 true seasons. But fall is my favorite because of the weather, college football and the comfort food with summer being a close 2nd simply because I love being on the water (pool, beach, river)!
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for quick check and then that evening we are hospital touring. Woo!
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Feeling tired and yet restless. Just a bit of cramping (thinking it is most likely baby giving some big stretches)
Rants/Raves: Rave - My girls bday bbq is this weekend. I can't believe they are going to be 4 and 2. AHH Motherhood so slow and yet so fast.
Questions: Anyone have a kid with chronic ear infections? I feel like my little one has not been able to kick them this year but I don't know how i feel about ear tubes. Any one with experience?
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall for sure. Cooler Temps, Back to School, ALL THE HOLIDAYS. Love it.
@creamcheeseplease - I hate that residual fight feel. I am still processing from a few weeks ago and in the struggle of letting it go or trying to figure out how to phrase my side in a way that would be productive.
@runningfortwo81 - Definitely get a pump (Insurance will typically pay for one although sometimes you have to wait until the baby is born. Definitely look into what they cover because that is a larger expense) Talk to your pediatrician (we met with ours before baby was born) and ask if they have any samples. I know we got samples the first 2 weeks while we figured out supplementing with my first. That way we didn't have a ton of something that didn't work.
@BNBT - We transitioned my firstborn at a little over 2 and my secondborn was like 2 months. Not by choice though, she started climbing out and took the choice from us. It was a long transition and I had my youngest already so I say now when you can dedicate the energy that way it is a done thing when the baby comes.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Quite well! Had a big burst of energy this weekend.
Rants/Raves: my big burst of energy led to me doing WAY too much yesterday and my back/hip has been hurting since last night.
Questions: any off-use products you must have for baby? For instance- one of my friends used disposable diapers as burp cloths bc that middle panel was just so absorbent!
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? i am from the (far) north but have been in the (deep) south almost 10 years... I love winter! I hate not having snow. I love to vacation to winter places as well! I almost exclusively only go to see my family in the winter time 😂😂 secondary to the winter- I love peppermint ice cream which is usually only out around the holidays.
Upcoming Appointments: Checkup next Tuesday, go over my AS I guess?
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I get out of breath if I bend over, and I was squatting down to help MH with something last night and it hurt my vagina? Dont know if that's a normal thing or not.
Rants/Raves: Nothing really. Still the same crap going on at work, nothing exciting happening. My brother is coming to visit but that's not for another month still.
Questions: Had a coworker tell me that "lifting your arms over your head will make the umbilical cord wrap around babys neck". Seems too bizarre to have any truth, anyone got insight? MH googled it and Google says no.
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Winter. I love the rain and the cold. I should not live in california.
@Dancer688 DS had chronic ear infections. He would literally go from ear infection to ear infection. He also got strep a lot and just seemed to always be sick. When he was about 1.5 they basically recommended tubes but said we could wait and see if he turned the corner and stopped getting them. Of course then there was like a 3 month break and he didn't get another ear infection and we thought he was good to go - then he got a bad one and we got him back in for the tubes. The actual procedure is very quick, and how it worked for us is that they scheduled based on age (youngest first) so DS was the second one going in that day. One parent can take the kid back, so that was me, I took him back to the OR and they gave him the anesthesia while I was there and then I had to leave. It was super sad to see that and hard for me to watch, like he's screaming crying and then the anesthesia takes hold so quickly so he basically fell asleep mid cry with his mouth wide open. He was back in recovery like 20 minutes later and the doctor came to see us and tell us how it went, and then we waited with DS while he woke up. He was very grouchy the rest of the day but ultimately he has had 0 ear infections since then and his tubes look good, he was just checked a couple months ago. We are happy we did it and will have a lot fewer hesitations doing it sooner if this kid has chronic ear infections too.
@angieeeeee never heard that cord thing before... I don't see how that could possibly be true either!
@BNBT DS is 2 and also still in the crib.. so I'm interested to see the other responses to your question. I'm honestly not sure what we are going to do. Frankly he can climb out but he really never does and he likes the crib. We are planning to have this one in our room for awhile and still have no idea honestly what we will do as far as a room for her (will they share, will she be with us for a year, etc)
@runningfortwo81 I'd echo what the other ladies have said and recommend being prepared for any possible scenario. Have a pump ready (definitely look into what your insurance covers-I have a hospital grade one coming my way!), BF helpers like a nipple shield, boppy, maybe a few types of bottles, formula (you can get plenty of samples free just to have in case instead of buying any) and also mentally prepare... but it sounds like you are already by being so practical!
@angieeeeee Strange as it sounds I feel like I've heard that before too 😂 just one of those things you have to say oh really ok and move on lol

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out, Friday!!!! Or at least we better 👊👊
Upcoming Appointments: MFM Friday to wrap up our AS and glucose testing/24 week appt Aug 15th
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): No cravings! I feel like I'm not having many of the symptoms you guys are having. I can't lay on my back anymore, not even sitting back on the couch ☹️ Palpitations have either subsided or I'm used to them but I saw a cardiologist and had a Holter monitor from Thursday to Friday so we'll see what they say. I'm hoping I get the burst of energy some of you are talking about because I have zero motivation and this heat is zapping me daily.
Rants/Raves: Feeling baby like crazy! We are going camping this weekend since my hubs has to take off Friday for the AS, psyched! No rants
Questions: Hmm..
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall and Spring but extra looking foward to this fall 😍😍😍
Thanks all! I do know that my insurance covers a pump so I'll go ahead and reach out to them soon to get that process started. It's nice to hear that formula samples are an option!
Upcoming Appointments: Just had my regular 4 week check up today. Go back in 4 weeks for another glucose challenge and check up. Baby sounded great on the doppler and has been moving sooooo much. They kicked the doppler a lot. My first baby used to hate the doppler and NST and would always kick at and push away from the monitors.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): pretty good!! The heartburn has been fierce but it is my own fault. I need to change some eating behaviors. I was stuck at work yesterday with two more hours to get through and my throat was on fire. No one had any tums but my boss had a peppermint tea and holy crap that helped soooooooo much. Going to look in to some pregnancy safe teas to help with the heartburn because I dont really like taking a lot of tums.
Also, getting referred to cardiology for my heart flubs. The OB shrugged it off but the NP I also see at the practice didnt like just shrugging it off and would rather just confirm it is what we think it is and just benign.
Rants/Raves: I compared a pic of me this week with a pic from 23 weeks last pregnancy and even though I feel super big right now, the side by side comparison shows me Im not as big as I was first time around. Losing 30lbs prior to this pregnancy certainly helped. Rant: Ive been steadily gaining a pound a week since I got pregnant (1st tri is so tough for me and I just eat nonstop). My body would not do well with an additional 18-20lbs on top of the 22 Ive already gained so I really need to start making wiser choices. We just got back from vacation and are settling back in to a new routine so hoping to start meal planning more. And not binging on a Walmart cookie cake all weekend.
Questions: Anyone else feel like this pregnancy is flying by? My first I was just so scared that something would go wrong that it felt like it took forever. This one Im working a ton more plus have a toddler to take care of and some times I get surprised when I see the countdown ticking down so quickly. There are definitely some weeks that drag but other times a whole month flies by. November feels so far off but then I realize August is next week and Im quickly going to be in the under 100 days zone. I have a feeling at some point I will blink and find myself in labor and delivery just ready to meet this person!
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Bring on thr MFing Fall! I waxed poetically about all things Fall to my child yesterday morning as we were getting ready for the day. Literally started with "Can I talk to you about pumpkins for a bit?"
Upcoming Appointments: I had my orientations appointment yesterday and my first OB appointment at this new practice next week.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I am sick and I feel like poo. My left sacroiliac joint is killing me daily. I can barely get off the floor if I manage to get down there. I was craving homemade sweet tea (the southern kind) and I got my fix this week. So good! Although I didn’t add as much sugar as some do.
Rants/Raves: I’m just ready to not be sick right now. I hate feeling like this. I swear, I’m my house, I get the “man colds.” Mainly because I usually rarely get sick so when I do I can barely tolerate it. DH had to stay home from the gym yesterday to help me with dinner because I just couldn’t function after having to go to that orientation meeting. Which brings me to my other rant, why was I forced to go to that. It basically talked about first trimester testing and do’s and don’ts. I probably came off as a rude B because I was so irritated that I had to leave my house for that crap. I would have cancelled because I am sick but I’m not allowed to see an OB without attending. 😒
Questions:
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? Fall but it may change to summer since I moved to AK. Fall will be the season we experience most of the year with a small summer. So I feel like I really need to step up our summer plans and really get the kids outside and enjoy the warmth. I’m also from the south so in summer I’m accustomed to it feeling like the surface of the sun and when I don’t get that experience, it is very difficult for me to be ready to move into fall. I had a hard time with the summers in Omaha when we lived there. So I know living here is going to be a huge adjustment.
Upcoming Appointments: I have a monthly appointment on August 7 th
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I’m feeling good. I’m having a lot of round ligament pain. I’m craving pickles And chocolate.
Rants/Raves: N/A
Questions: N/A
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? I love the fall. Everything starts to cool down. All the best holidays are in the fall. Everything is beautiful out.
Upcoming Appointments: just had a check up within OB today! Everything looked great - baby's heart rate was 150 and I'm measuring 1.5cm ahead. Baby is super active. Given my history, I'm having checkups every 2 weeks, so I have another OB check in 2 weeks on 8/8, then another visit in 2 weeks after that. At that second visit I have to do ANOTHER 1 hour glucose test because my first 1 hour test was so early in my pregnancy (I failed the first one hour but passed the 3 hour with absolutely perfect results). There is also a followup pediatric cardiologist echo for baby on 8/19. I have to schedule another hematologist visit in the next two weeks.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I still cannot get enough fresh fruits and veggies. I'm struggling to get comfortable at night. My sciatic pain has been getting better (knock on wood), but I'm finding new aches as baby grows. Baby is definitely developing a schedule. He loves dancing when I first get to work, then he's lulled to sleep while I work until I eat lunch. He dances again on my way home and then pretty much chills until I lie down for bed. My husband felt him for the very first time a few days ago and I loved seeing him light up. He was always excited for the baby - we worked so hard for three years with infertility treatments and IVF - but now he's starting to interact and talk to him. When he puts his head in my lap when we watch our recorded shows at night the baby dances whenever he hears his voice so close. It's probably my favorite thing. We have a lot of stress right now - after a ton of delays we finally close on our new house in Tuesday and my husband starts a new job the following week and I don't have a stress-free job - and it's starting to take its toll on my body, on top of not sleeping well. My doctor is willing to write me a note so I can work from home for the rest of my pregnancy whenever I ask him to. I want to get settled in the new house and go from there, but I think not having to stress about a new commute and getting into the office every single day would really go a long way. As much as I am nervous about the change, I have to put this pregnancy first.
Rants/Raves: I think I covered these in the above section. Oops!
Questions: none right now!
GTKY: What’s your season/time of the year? I'm definitely a summer girl. I love the sun and wearing comfy flowy clothes. Though I will admit I love a good oversized sweater, leggings, and boots on a crisp fall day.
