Re: Weekly Check-in Groups 3&4 (Jan 17-31) w/o 7/22

  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/22 13w5d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): pot sticker

    Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow

How are you feeling?: so tired. No matter what I do, I don’t feel like i ever get enough sleep, even if I sleep 8 hours through the night. My nausea has gone away for the most part, except when I need to eat. Lots of gas, stretching and uterus pains. Also my hips are beginning to bother me.

Rants/Raves: Dh was finally home all weekend so we were able to spend some time together. Went to the water park yesterday to try and stay cool. It was a nice time.

Questions: Has anyone started feeling movement yet?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Right now I’m really into just cheese, lots of it. Sometimes I go with sausage, bacon, pineapple and hot sauce.
  • Loading the player...
  • @kbrown2385 - Some times I think I feel movement, but I'm not 100% yet, so I'm still going to say no. I didn't feel movement the first time until 17 weeks.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 18 / 14w2d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Peach

Upcoming Appointments: 2 weeks from today

How are you feeling?: Better than last week, nausea and fatigue are minimal but still crop up at random times.

Rants/Raves: DD counted to 10 yesterday!!! She's getting pretty consistent with it, and only needs a few helps or prompts.

Questions: What clothing store is your maternity go-to?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Spinach. I also like grilled chicken, olives, tomatoes, ham, pineapple. Not all of that together though.
  • @kbrown2385 Growing babies is SO exhausting! I’ve also been struggling with extreme tiredness even if I feel I get enough sleep at night, but can’t imagine what it would be like with two! I don’t remember being this tired with dd. I’m yawning and falling asleep at like 2 in the afternoon lol. I hope you can get more rest!! And no movement yet for me.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 25/ 13w2d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n): As tall as a lipstick tube

Upcoming Appointments: Wednesday for a checkup/ us.

How are you feeling?: Super tired no matter what I do. I’ve also noticed an increase in gas and ligament pain. I’m always hungry and the nausea has been wearing off, but every now and then I find myself gagging/having the urge to throw up. Also, the itchiness is still here!

    Rants/Raves: None right now

    Questions: None

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on a pizza? I love many things, but when it comes down to my ultimate favorite, it’s got to be pepperoni.
  • @kbrown2385 I’m pretty sure I’ve felt movement. I question it a ton. But it’s happened more than once and is isolated to the area the baby was in per the ultrasound so I think it really is baby!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/23 13w4d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): jalapeño

Upcoming Appointments: I need to rearrange them. So who knows

How are you feeling?: Tired. So tired. My nausea has gotten less but it won’t go away all the way.

Rants/Raves: MH’s leave got moved. Again. We don’t know when to yet, just that we no longer get to go this weekend like we were planning. So I’m bummed. DH is also not feeling well. I’m hoping he’s just teething but he had like two bumps so I’m paranoid it’s HFM or something. Rave: I think I’ve talked myself into opening an Etsy shop and I’m really excited to see where it goes

Questions: anyone having sciatic nerve problems already?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Pineapple! But my husband hates it. So our pizza we both enjoy is the garlic chicken from Papa Murphy’s
  • It’s nice to see so many people like pineapple on pizza!

@marebear15 I didn’t feel ds until like 21 weeks. Im hoping I don’t have to wait that long. For maternity stores I like target usually but the one near me is so limited. I’ve been finding good stuff on sales at motherhood.

@blackcat01 between 2 and 3pm is when it’s time for me to nap lol. I’m hoping the fog starts to lift soon. The gas has definitely increased here too!

@MrsJessS It’s hard to tell the difference sometimes! I’ve felt some stretching where I know the babies are but no fluttering or popcorn like I did with ds. Yes didn’t feel him until 21 weeks though, so hopefully sooner this time around. Sorry about yh leave. Gotta love the military 😏. Hope you’re able to figure out a trip soon. I’ve also had some sciatic nerve issues, mostly after sitting too long. I do some stretching I learned from PT and that usually helps a little. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do those though lol.
  • @kbrown2385 no movement yet here. But I also have an anterior placenta and FTM so I could be just oblivious to it yet.

@MrsJessS what are you gonna sell in your store??

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/17, 14w3d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: PINK!

Baby is the size of a(n): as tall as a crayon

Upcoming Appointments: Today at noon for placenta research study, Agust 12th for OB, Sept 4th anatomy scan, Sept 29 24 week OB

How are you feeling?: Much more like myself again. I'm finally hungry. I only really get nauseous if I don't eat right away when I'm hungry. The only thing that has increased are my headaches.

Rants/Raves: I love going to car shows with my husband, but omg they are taking up so much time on the weekends that I can't get nearly have of the shit I want to get done around the house. Buuuttt my bestie is coming in town for her ex-roommates wedding so I get to see her!! Which I am super excited for.

Questions: I can never think of any when it comes to this post LOL. I'm sure I have some but I'm drawing a complete blank.

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Pepperoni or sausage. Hands down.

@kbrown2385 ooh, the water park sounds nice! All day yesterday I was lamenting about the fact that we don't have a pool. (Life is SO hard 🙄) also, definitely have not felt baby move. I read it takes longer for your first though.

@marebear15 how exciting for your DD! 😁 it must be so fun watching them learn new things. I can't wait! And luckily I haven't bought any maternity clothes yet, so no suggestions from me,  sorry. Though my leggings are starting to feel a little snug in the waist. It's finally getting sunny though so I'll probably just switch to my flowy dresses for as long as I can get away with it!

@blackcat01 hey, we're due date twins! Sorry you're still feeling so sluggish.

@MrsJessS that's a bummer about YH and his leave 😕 but your etsy shop sounds like exciting news! What are you going to be selling?

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 25th/ 13wks 2 days

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): lemon

    Upcoming Appointments: July 25th

How are you feeling?: pretty good overall, but my boobs are sore and my nipples are annoyingly tingly. Still have to pee more often than feels appropriate.

Rants/Raves: I dunno if I had a dream or what but I woke up remembering my pet rat that died in my care, which then led me to remember the other pets that died in my care. Various fish, some toads. Granted, this was all during my middle school/early high school years, but it made me feel like a real shit person and who do I think I am having a baby.

Questions: I keep getting a weird pulling pain in my left side every time I switch positions in bed. Is that RLP?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? I like pretty much everything. But some of my favorite combos are black olives and mushrooms.  Green Chile and pepperoni. Or ham and pineapple.

Edit: because typing on the phone is hard
  • @peppyj9 Hi twin! 😊 What you’re experiencing sounds like RLP to me! Happens to me from time to time.
  • @marebear15 Motherhood Maternity was mine last time around because it was close by.  Now I’m not around anything so I’m not sure where I’ll shop

@kbrown2385 they are supposed to give him a date soon. I think he’s going to drop a drill packet just to get out of this unit. They are slotted for a rotation/deployment but still don’t have any kind of dates or orders so we figure it’s worth a shot 🤷🏻‍♀️ My sciatic issues usually kick in while I’m walking so that’s fun because me while butt just gives up

@stashattack and @peppyj9 I knit and crochet so I’ll probably start with hats and scarves and stuff like that. Maybe baby mobiles and blankets down the road

  • @stashattack how exciting to see your bestie! Have you told her and others about baby yet?

@MrsJessS cool! I'd like to learn how to knit. I bought some needles and yarn and a book and of course there's YouTube, but haven't actually sat down to learn. Br sure to share your link so we can check out your stuff!

Also, random question or thought: do any of you notice when previously active members are no longer active? It makes me worried and I want to check up but also don't want to bother anyone as I am ultimately just a stranger on the internet. Just a few people I noticed kind of dropped off with no explanation. Not that they owe one, just makes me kind of sad, I guess.
  • @peppyj9 yup all the important people know!! She's super excited!!! She was like, Imma buy your baby all the things haha.

  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 01/23 13w/4d

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:  Finding out! I can't believe I still have 7 more weeks until anatomy scan of these twins!

Baby is the size of a(n): they weigh as much as a slice of bread (interesting)

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 13 for 16w at Perinatologist and Aug 14 for OB Checkup... I wish I could see these babies every week to help the anxiety

How are you feeling?: Less nausea but more headaches. Finally starting to get my appetite back!

Rants/Raves: OK I know it's a dangerous place to go, but I can't help it! There's people I went to high school with posting on facebook about their pregnancies (we haven't announced yet) and I can't help comparing their glorious bumps to my non existent bump/bloat bump. There is one in particular who is at least 2 weeks behind me (and I'm having two!!) and she has this beautiful baby bump to show off, and I'm still here in my normal clothes at the end of first trimester. It makes me self-conscious and I'm sure everything is FINE, but I can't help wondering if my babies are growing okay! I'm sorry that's really heavy for this type of post, but I'm hoping some can relate to bump comparing!

Questions: Anyone have any good creams/lotions? I've noticed my belly is getting super dry

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? white pizza with broccoli!
  • lurking from week 1

@peppyj9 I've noticed that too, I don't know what the reason is, could it be that it's summer or that I have too much free time at work that I'm on all the time haha, but definitely less people seem to be posting
  • @marebear15 I went to destination maternity (sells motherhood and pea in the pod) and they were having a good sale so I got lots of basics. But I also have some stuff now from GAP I think which are pretty comfy. My sister in law swears by their jeans but I got some comfortable ones from motherhood in long. Score!

@MrsJessS I also knit! I've been so tired though so my projects have dropped off. I made a sheep baby blanket for my nephew and I just bought yarn for a fox one for the little one. I've been using the 50 quick baby knits book which has been fun! I'm still pretty novice but I like the challenge of the new knits!

@peppyj9 I hate dreams that make you feel like a shit person even if you aren't.

@kbrown2385 no movement for me but I think it's still early?

@stashattack it's always so nice to see the besties!

@amb0924 I wouldn't worry about your bump. The babies are still pretty small and everyone's body reacts differently. Some show right away and others don't. I feel like my bump changes day to day. Some days bigger and other days smaller. Also that leads me to a pet peeve of people oversharing bump pics on Facebook but maybe that's just me. I know as a person with loss it was hard to be reminded constantly by distant friends that they were having successful pregnancies. I've been very careful with what I have shared so far. If they are close enough to me that they want to know, they can ask is my opinion. Sorry that was longer than intended....

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 13 +2 (Jan 25)

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n): lemon (ish) the daily ones don't seem to make sense most days...

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 14 for 16 week follow up

How are you feeling?: Honestly not the best. I'm jealous of all the people without nausea but my sinuses have been on overload and my ears clogged so I have lots of drainage which is making my nausea worse and leads to gagging. The Zofran has kept me from barfing so that's good. I don't think there is much that can be done besides good sinus care but I'm annoyed and my ears hurt...

Rants/Raves: Excited to turn in grades for my summer class today and finally be able to get to some of my summer projects. I'm tired and just did a marathon exam grading session this weekend...

Questions: For any STMs I've been seeing adds for pelvic support girdles for postpartum. Has anyone tried them or have any recommendations for preparing for healing postpartum?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Well I have two favs from our local shop. One is margarita pizza (cheese basil and tomato) and the other is a BBQ pork with pineapple. Just had them yesterday as a treat!
  • @kbrown2385, I get random pings and brushes to my bladder. Only one thing I know causes that, but it's so early, I'm not sure it's not my imagination. I felt the bladder bouncing with DD around 15/16w and with DS around 14/15w, so...maybe?

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 26, 13w1d

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding Out, waiting for the NIPT

Baby is the size of a(n): espresso cup? Lemon.

Upcoming Appointments: July 30 to see if I've conquered White Coat Syndrome. (Prolly not)

How are you feeling?: Nausea has eased back to annoying, but I'm exhausted ALL. THE. TIME. My girls still hurt.

Rants/Raves: My son has turned into the south Texas equivalent of stuck inside on a rainy day...only it's stuck inside on a hot day. He's become an unholy terror, his only entertainment is driving my partner and I bonkers with MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM or STAD STAD STAD STAD STAD while literally bouncing up and down like a human pogo stick. (my kids call my partner Stad...STep-dAD)

Questions: Any suggestions on how to convince my SO that salt right now is BAD for me?

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Not a huge fan of pizza, but...I like whole (small) green olives and plain cheese. My favorite commercial pizza is Dominos Pacific Vegetarian on a thin crust, well done.
  • @amb0924, I didn't get an obvious bump with either of my previous pregnancies until I was almost out of the second trimester. I'm nearly 6 feet tall, and have really wide hips. With my daughter, you really couldn't tell at all. In fact, I hid my pregnancy from work until I was 37w pregnant! But, with my son, I just looked fat until about 24w. So far with this one, my pants don't clasp, but I just look like maybe I should think about cutting back on the Whataburger.

@stashattack @MrsJessS We should have a crafty thread where we can show off our cute things!

@MrsJessSDid you knit those llamas? I imagine it would be easier with crochet but I am terrible at crocheting. One of these days, I will have to sit down and really invest time in figuring it out.

Edited to tag and because I just read it was crochet...apparently I can't read the first time...
  • @MrsJessS that is amazing! Definitely start your Etsy shop lol.
  • I fourth this idea! I wanted to crochet a blanket for Porg, but I came up with a better idea. My grandmother made a quilt for every baby from her first (my aunt) until my sister's youngest (born in 2017). Porg will be the first baby born since she passed at the wonderfully high level of 91*, in 2018. So, I want to make a quilt to carry on the tradition.

*I refuse to say we're a year olde. I see it as gaining XP (experience points), and so on our birthday, we "Level-up". The higher the level, the more the XP.
  • @MrsJessS Wow! You’d definitely have talent! I second @kbrown2385, start your shop! I’m dying to look lol
  • @peppyj9 yes I’ve definitely noticed a few people have dropped off.

@biolprof it is a little early, but possible especially for stm+. I’ve been feeling some things, but not 100% it’s babies yet. As for the postpartum girdles, I didn’t use one with ds, but plan on asking for one this go around. Afterwards I felt very loose in the stomach for a little bit after. It was kind of odd lol.

@amb0924 I love shea butter for dry skin. I know it’s easy to compare but it’s better to just focus on what’s going on with you. Eventually you’ll pop and have a cute bump. Also, this is just the beginning of comparing. Soon it’ll be baby milestones and all the crazy that comes along with that. Try to just enjoy where you’re at now!

@stashattack I’m so curious about the placenta study they are doing. Any details you can share? What are they looking at?
  • @blackcat01 - The fatigue during this pregnancy is so much worse than last one for me too!

@MrsJessS - Your Esty shop sounds so exciting!! Do you know how to knit those cute newborn photo outfits? OMG I love the llama mobile!!

@kbrown2385 - I went to Target yesterday for some maternity tank tops and was very disappointed in the selection. Our Old Navy stopped selling maternity, so I think I'll have to just order through the website. I just hate to pay shipping all the time 😬

@stashattack - I've been getting a few more headaches too lately, but I find it's because I can never seem to drink enough water.

@peppyj9 - I'm living for flowy tops and dresses. I'm not quite ready to show off the bump yet because it still feels flabby to me.

@amb0924 - Baby bumps can be so versatile! It really depends on the mother and her body. I'm pretty short, and I have a short torso and rather narrow hips, so my baby really has nowhere to go but out. A friend of mine was pregnant at the same time as me and our due dates were days apart. She didn't start showing until around 30 weeks because she's 5'11" and has wider hips.
  • @marebear15 I liked old navy when I was pregnant with ds and was disappointed when they stopped selling it in store. I may have to order some online as well.
  • thank you everyone for reassuring me! It's hard as a FTM to stop the "comparing"  brain. I just need to stay focused on my own journey! all of our journeys are beautiful and unique and crazy and exciting and anxiety inducing!

Also, I don't have a single crafty bone in my body, so I would be a frequent shopper at Etsy shops! LOL
  • @stashattack  @MrsJessS @kbrown2385 We need that crafty thread!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/17/20, 14 Weeks 3 days

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team PINK! Just found out last week.

Baby is the size of a(n): Single-serve mini ice cream carton?

Upcoming Appointments: Birth Center Tour on Aug 2. Anyone else planning on birthing at a birth center?

How are you feeling?: Good, but dealing with some tuff stuff in our family right now. MIL is in the late stages of cancer. So hard to be excited for a new life, while at the same time mourning the end of another.

Rants/Raves: Made the switch to maternity pants and oh my goodness, they are soooo comfy! Don't know how I'll ever switch back to regular jeans after this, haha.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? Any veggie!
  • @kbrown2385 yeah!! So basically Penn wants to know more about how the placenta develops and what could possibly affect it and how it could affect the fetus. So before each research visit, I'll take a food survey, which is hella long and detailed, and then at this appointment, it was a blood draw, urine sample, and an ultrasound. There was supposed to be one more spectroscopy scan but the person who does that wasn't available and they said it's 50/50 this early if they can see anything anyways so it's not a big deal. Next appointments will be all of that plus MRIs. And then they'll be doing some test post-delivery and then two weeks after delivery as well.

They just want to find out as much as they can about the development because I guess they don't know much about the placental development and what affects it vs like the actual fetus. :)

  • Thanks for all the kind words!
Sorry. Just now catching up. DS was diagnosed w/ HFMD so that’s just awesome. Oh and MH has now gone from having leave start Saturday, to no leave for now but every other day off, to no days off for the next two weeks. So it’s just a really great day over here 😂🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

@FyreFlyeRush I did a quilt for DS’s nursery and I’m so excited to make one for this baby too. Even though I’m not great at it lol

@marebear15 I haven’t made them baby props like that before but I don’t think it would be too hard. Definitely on my list of things to try!

@amb0924 with DS I remember not even looking pregnant at my anatomy scan a ton 20 weeks. This time I’m going crazy with how fast my belly is popping. So really it can be so different for each person and each pregnancy.

  • @stashattack how neat! I’d love to do something like that! You’ll have to keep us updated!

Having trouble tagging on my phone.

I had an anterior placenta with my DD and she wasn’t a big mover so I didn’t feel actual movements until 22+ weeks. It’s a bummer for sure and I so hope I have posterior this time.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 13+2

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Lemon

Upcoming Appointments: 2 weeks from Wednesday

How are you feeling?: still exhausted, especially late afternoon. I’m struggling to have an attention span at work too.

Rants/Raves: I definitely just look like I’ve gained some belly vs being pregnant. I was 7 months pregnant this time of summer last time, so my dresses from them are still way too baggy. Nothing is flattering.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? I do love pineapple and pepperoni while pregnant, but my husband does not. My favorite pizza would be wood fired oven, rustic crust with Gorgonzola, caramelized onions and arugula.
    Me: 31

Baby A (via IUI due to MFI): Sep 2016 born at 35+6

  • @bosslady925 that pizza sounds amazing.... I'm drooling over here thinking about it.

@marebear15 can you do free ship to store? I thought that was an option with old Navy? It might not save you anything in the long run if the store is far away.

@stashattack how does the data reflect the progress of the placenta? It's really fascinating the science included with all of this. I'm just not sure if I can fully see the connection between the blood and urine samples and the placenta development. Really interesting. So you know what they're looking to see?

@amb0924 it's hard not to compare yourself. I tend to show early and quickly. Which means I feel like I'm ridiculously large all the time. Some times I'd prefer to show later.

@MrsJessS ugh hfm would be terrible! Hopefully you don't get it as well. And on top of it the stress of not knowing when YH will have time off. Hopefully you get more solid information soon.

Trying to catch up a bit with comments, then I'll update
  • @persnickity I’m sure they are control data points. Because the food survey can be fudged by applicants. So the blood and urine would give them a snap shot of health data. But I’m not a hundred percent sure.

I know a lot of the data is coming from the scans, measurements, and food surveys.

  • No real kicks or anything here yet. Last time I believe I started feeling baby around 20 weeks?
Yesterday I had the sensation of baby shifting BUT it 100% could have been gas.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/17/20 14w4d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: pink!

Baby is the size of a(n): lemon

Upcoming Appointments: not for a few weeks

How are you feeling?: good! Pretty normal. Some RLP and tiredness in the afternoons but otherwise feeling like myself again

Rants/Raves: I have mentally committed to potty training DD (she’s 2.5) starting in 2 weeks. I will have some time off between camp and school and as this is our second attempt, I know I will need more than just 3 days to really give it a go. I am very nervous- she never got the poop down last time we tried (6 months ago) so we went back to pull-ups. I reallyyyy want her to be potty trained for when #2 comes in Jan and this will be the last time I will have a chunk of time to dedicate to the process. Any solid advice welcome (she doesn’t hold it in, will just poop in her underwear. I am trying the commando method this time).

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favorite topping(s) to put on pizza? I like either mushrooms and onions together or all of the veggies. Plain cheese is great too. We eat healthy but really love pizza in this house. It our #1 treat food. And after writing this I told DH that I would really like for him to bring home pizza for dinner tomorrow night 😂
  • @persnickity - I thought I would have the option to ship to store too, but it looks like only very select items have that option. Like I can ship a white tank top to the store, but not a black one 🤷

@bosslady925 - I'm kinda in that beer belly stage, but I've run out of regular clothes that fit me, so I'm just running with maternity clothes. It's a short phase, only about 3-4 weeks for me.

Definitely felt baby last night! I could feel a hard side of my uterus, like something crammed into the side against my left hip. So I laid still and waited, and sure enough, I felt baby wiggles!
  • @justbeachy888 we have just potty trained dd who is also 2.5 in the past week, weve had a few accidents but shes doing really well. The first 1.5 days were a nightmare & I was ready to give up as I didnt think she was ready but after that it all clicked into place very quickly. We just ask if she needs to go all the time & she seems to recognise the urges now & will tell us that she needs to go. Hopefully your dd will be ready this time!
  • @marebear15 that makes no sense that a white top can ship, but not a black top. Crazy! They at least have an awesome returns process.

@justbeachy888 we're very slowly doing potty training here. But my sister just had the same issues with my niece (almost 3). They found that she actually does really well at daycare, but not at home. They started giving stickers as a reward for pooping in the toilet. If she goes a week without pooping in her underwear, she gets a small toy. It's been helping a bit. She was potty trained, except at night, until her dad came back from deployment. She had a set back with that.
  • @justbeachy888 my DD will be 3 at the end of September and has minimal interest in the potty. She sits (fully clothed) frequently when she needs to go, and has peed a few times before bath. But even this morning I asked if she wanted to wear a pullup to camp, and she said "no, a diaper". She has zero desire to be a "big girl". Between potty training and ditching the paci, I'm not sure I have much hope. I've always said I refuse to PT a stubborn toddler. They all PT when they're ready, and if we wait I know it'll be a breeze. I think I'll start to push in the next month or so. Fortunately her school will change diapers until 4.
