    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💙

Baby is the size of a(n): His foot is as big as the tab on a Coke can today. And now I need a Coke.

Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow for anatomy scan

How are you feeling?: Honestly my anxiety has gone thru the roof. I’m a basket case and I can’t pinpoint the cause. I’m hoping for a good scan tmrw and hopefully I’ll relax some.

Rants/Raves: I’ve been working on drinking enough water, 3 33oz bottles a day, but now I’m chained to the toilet. I’m literally peeing every 15 minutes!

Questions: None right now, I’m sure I’ll think of one later 😂

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? This is a tough one. The first person that comes to mind is Chris Pratt. Yum 😋

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink 🥰

Baby is the size of a(n): Starbucks Venti Cup (this is that crazy stuff we were talking about last time- she’s gone from back and forth with some pretty small items to some large items- maybe some of these small items are only a measuring stick for their torso?)

    Upcoming Appointments:  Wednesday anatomy scan!

How are you feeling?:  So, so tired... work, where I’m on my feet all day, has been exhausting lately.  I’m still discreetly pregnant, so I’m not getting a lot of passes when I’m there unless I ask.  It also seems really easy to overeat at night for dinner, even though I feel really hungry, I can’t fit much in there comfortably.

Rants/Raves:  Along with my food comment, I’m feeling so tired and not cooking as much as I wish I was.  I tried a grocery delivery service the other day for the first time, and it was pretty awesome!  Helped me make my dinner at home that night 👍😊

Questions:  Who knows the most about anatomy scans here?  I posted on the actual anatomy scan board started by @k_mam@k_mama91 (thank you btw!) and I’m curious what they look for at the anatomy scan besides the baby’s sex.  For a lot of us, we already know the answer on that courtesy of other tests.  What health issues are they checking for?

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be?  Tough question- I’m not sure who would be that gotta have it person.  I would time travel back to Paul McCartney in the Beatles- he was super cute and was/is so talented.  Funny enough, I was going to say Chris Pratt, too, @k_mama91 !  He’s so funny and cute- he reminds me of my husband ❤️

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: EST due date: 12/3/19 so i'm 19+6

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Just had our anatomy scan today and found out we are having another boy! Brooks Wayne Lovett

Baby is the size of a(n): banana, according to the app.

Upcoming Appointments: had an anatomy scan today, woo team boy!

How are you feeling?: still suffering from rhinitis which has been around since week 7 and won't clear up until after birth :(

    Rants/Raves: none this week haha

Questions: why is it frowned upon to have a second baby shower? mine will be 3 years apart (even though my tag says firsttimemom something or another) and a group of friends mentioned today that they wanted to throw me a shower. seems like it would be rude to refuse their generosity, plus if people want to give us gifts then i'm not gonna stop them lol

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? oooooh. David Beckham. don't know anything about soccer but that man is fineeeee.

@cpk3535 I’m curious too, about the scans, that’s why I started the thread haha my nerves are even worse with the unknown and not having done any of the other screenings offered.

@firsttimemomma417 I’m not that helpful bc mine will be 9 years apart but I think people feel that you should’ve saved the majority of baby gear from previous kids and not need that much? Especially when they’re closer in age and the same sex. It depends on the group of people you run with too. If they want to do it, let them! If you feel weird you could just do a sprinkle, like smaller scale where you maybe don’t register and ask for actual baby gear.

Hello again, ladies!  Happy 20 weeks (or so).

Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 19w4d.  Found out that my scheduled c section (necessary due to my medical history, to be performed at 38w) will be on 11/19!

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink...Sofie 💕

Baby is the size of a(n): mango

Upcoming Appointments:  anatomy scan 7/23. It's a little on the late side and I'm feeling impatient.

How are you feeling?:  I'm feeling good, energy-wise, and not many symptoms lately.  Just in the past few days, I've noticed it's getting a little harder to move around, bend down, etc.  Yesterday I dropped the tv remote way under the sofa and had a really rough time retrieving it😆

Rants/Raves: Just getting nervous about the anatomy scan.  Like you, @k_mama91, I've been anxious about different things that could go wrong, including getting paranoid about preeclampsia for some reason, and spending too much time googling it, which never helps.

Questions:  STM+, did you breastfeed, and if so, how was your experience?  I feel like I've heard so many horror stories from my mom friends about how difficult and stressful it is; I'm kind of expecting the worst but still hoping it works out.

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be?  First, Paul Rudd came to mind, because I think he is adorable.  But then I was thinking that he doesn't really seem like he would be very good in bed, because he's sort of awkward.  So then I thought of Charlie Hunnam🌶

@blueskychicago12 I’m nervous about anatomy scan, too!  I’m just not sure exactly what to expect.  As for breastfeeding, I did it with DD and I absolutely plan to do it again.  It’s wonderful for bonding with baby and for getting back down to your normal weight again.  Plus, the baby’s immune system is super boosted by your breast milk!  Seriously, DD didn’t get sick at all until she started weaning off of breastfeeding, and her teeth were beautiful, too.

The bad stuff- your nipples hurt a bit at first.  It goes away pretty fast, though, within maybe a week.  Other “bad” stuff- you may have to pump if you don’t stay with baby constantly.  You might also have to feed baby in the middle of the night, but honestly, that was pretty relaxing for both me and baby.  I fed her in our bed, and then she would just crash on my shoulder.

Overall, I would highly recommend you give it a try!  I really loved the experience of breastfeeding.  I’m looking forward to doing it again ❤️😊

@blueskychicago12 @cpk3535 i had my anatomy scan today! i’m not sure what specific conditions they look for but they go through and check every single organ. it was so cool to see the new development of course (bones and heart chambers, etc!!) ... but the scan itself takes a long time and actually got kind of boring during! they take a ton of images of every single body part and a lot of the time you can’t tell what you are looking at. she didn’t talk to me much during. i kept trying to ask questions and she told me she had to focus so be prepared for that, it doesn’t mean something is wrong! they did 3d at the end of the scan... i was so excited about seeing the face and while we could see her sweet face for a second live in the room, the technician couldn’t get a clear still photo to give us. the technician got frustrated and gave up after 3 tries which was a big disappointment to me. i only get one 20 week anatomy scan! happy everything was healthy but was hoping for an image to share with family. oh well...

Baby is the size of a(n): banana? that makes no sense to me but it’s what the app says!

Upcoming Appointments: had my anatomy scan today! next check up at 24 weeks.

How are you feeling?: hip and low back pain is still an issue. yoga helps some but i just can’t seem to figure out a comfortable way to sleep.... i ordered my 3rd pillow (i’ve returned all the others!) so hopefully this one works...

Rants/Raves: i had a great anatomy scan today and the baby was measuring right size and all her little organs and functions were in order.. but at the end of the scan i was told my amniotic fluid was on the low side of normal. my dr said it’s not a big deal and could mean the baby was about to pee or i was dehydrated. she also mentioned that many technicians wouldn’t even have mentioned it. (this technician today was really not great for me!!!) so of course i’m worried now even tho she told me not to be. anyway, she’s going to do another u/s at 28 weeks to check again. 2 whole months to worry!

@moonriver_and_me how exciting you got to see her little face! I would be bummed about not having a take home picture but that’s so neat. And congrats on a great scan!

@blueskychicago12 I attempted to bf the first time. It was a poor attempt and I think my milk dried up after 8 or so weeks. I hope to be able to do it this time but won’t beat myself up if we can’t. I’m also super paranoid about preeclampsia and convinced my swelling feet and hands aren’t from heat but high blood pressure.

My scan is today! The last 3 days I’ve had horrible back pain that wraps around my side. I’m thinking I’ve got a kidney infection so that’s one more thing to worry about today!
  • Options
@moonriver_and_me I’m so glad your scan showed everything to be healthy, but yes, frustrating to be told you might have something else to worry about for two months.  Don’t need that!

@k_mama91 Keep us posted on how your scan goes!  Can you ask your doctor about your swelling at the same appointment?  The timing and symptoms sound right for preeclampsia.  I hope that gets somewhat under control soon!

As for breastfeeding, I also support what @k_mama91 said- some people can’t keep it going.  It’s a body on body thing, and I’ve heard some women say the baby just never really got the latching strong enough to trigger more milk production, some say that their nipples were so engorged that the baby could get their mouth around them during the newborn phase and that caused drying up, you name it!  If you can try and it works for you, then wonderful.  If it doesn’t, don’t beat yourself up over it.  ❤️

@cpk3535 I see my doctor today before my scan and have several things to bring up. PGAL and IF have me obsessing over every little thing. Hopefully everything is unrelated, I go in a few hours so we’ll see 🤞🏻
  • Options
@k_mama91 hope all went well with your scan!  Regarding preeclampsia, my doctor said that the swelling is typically sudden and/or severe.  She also said to watch for extreme headaches that don't respond to Tylenol and are accompanied by vision changes.  I've been having some minor hand swelling if I walk around a lot in the heat.  I notice that my wedding ring gets tight.  But once I sit down and cool off, it goes away.

@cpk3535 I'm happy to hear that you had a positive experience with breastfeeding.  I definitely want to give it a try, but also wouldn't have major qualms about switching to formula if it doesn't work out for me and my baby.  A friend of mine was so stressed out about it she was constantly in tears, and it doesn't seem worth it at that point!

@moonriver_and_me, congrats on a successful scan!  I've had ultrasound techs like yours - makes things more stressful when they are so stonefaced and silent.  I believe Emily Oster discusses low amniotic fluid in Expecting Better.  I think she recommends drinking some big glasses of water the day of the scan...sounds like dehydration can definitely be the culprit!

Scan went well and baby looks great! I posted about that in the other thread and we’re super relieved but the other news we got wasn’t the best. I was immediately referred for an ultrasound of my kidneys and that’s tomorrow. We hope I’m mildly backed up and it’s  not too severe. Worst case scenario they want to do a stint? shunt? which means surgery and I’m not wanting that at all. The other issue is my bleeding. Im being considered high risk and need to be seen biweekly now. The irritation from the blood has been causing my Braxton Hicks and could cause my water to break. We have the option to start meds at 24 weeks to hopefully prevent this.
  • Options
@k_mama91 that’s great for your boy!! So glad to hear everything looks good for him! On your end, I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with these kidney issues and the blood loss trouble.  Take care of yourself, Mama ❤️

@blueskychicago12 I’m going to load up on water before my scan tomorrow! 💦   So far, I have no obvious concerns or problems, so hopefully all goes well.  I’ll post what we find out 😊

@cpk3535 best wishes for your scan tomorrow!
@k_mama91 happy to hear that your baby is doing well!  Sorry to hear about your possible kidney infection, ouch!  Hope the testing goes well and they can get everything sorted out for you quickly!

After sleeping on all our info last night I don’t feel any better. Hopefully things go well today and I’ll at least have one less thing to worry about.
@cpk3535 Good luck with your scan today!

    Upcoming Appointments: 7/31

How are you feeling?: I feel pretty good. Moving around is getting a little tougher. I have a slight UTI as it turns out, so I’m on antibiotics now. Hopefully that’ll make the urge to go less frequent haha.

Rants/Raves: Had my anatomy scan this morning! Baby looks great, but I didn’t like my sonographer. She wouldn’t say anything at all and was only going to print one picture until I asked for another. Anyway, I’m just so happy that my baby is growing well, and my cervix has continued to stay long (I need my cervix checked every two weeks in the second trimester to ensure low risk of preterm labor because of my uterus shape).

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? Probably one of those Hemsworth brothers 😍

  • Options
@pennyandzooey We got lots of pictures but the one I really would’ve loved to have didn’t get printed. He had his little face smushed against my belly and you could see his nose and lips perfectly. I’m a little bummed. Glad baby looks good!

Here’s a longer version of what I shared on the anatomy scan board 😊

Yay!  We made it through our anatomy scan. It took a while, but it was really cool to see! Baby girl’s profile looks just like DD 🥰.

My due date was changed a while back to 12/1 by my OB/GYN, which puts me at 20W3D today, but the radiology department still had my old due date of 12/4.  When I looked at her numbers, and how much things have changed this week, I definitely think 12/1 is a lot more accurate.  The reason- have you gals checked out the big change for baby on any charts between week 20 and week 21?  They supposedly grow about 4 inches and gain about 2 ounces in ONE WEEK!

The tech told us she was weighing in about 12 oz- big girl(!)❤️. And I have to admit, I’ve been noticing some body changes from the outside, more noticeable this week than I’ve seen in a while.  She’s still enjoying hiding down in my pelvis- the tech had to press almost directly into my hip bones for some pictures.  Tons of movement!  It was great- we can’t wait for her to arrive 🥰❤️

  • Options
@cpk3535 So neat that she looks like big sis! It’s mind blowing that they grow so much in only a week! We’ve hung in at the same due date which isn’t surprising with the ivf but I didn’t know they had such a big growth spurt coming up! It’s also interesting how different we all are, my guy is up high and Ive been feeling his hands up towards my belly button 🤯 he was 11oz yesterday and now I’m wondering if I’m growing big foot 😂

    Due Date/Weeks + Days: 20 weeks

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: my sweet baby boy 💙 Jaxson Robert

Baby is the size of a(n): Banana

Upcoming Appointments: Had my scan today... a little scary. Have another one tomorrow.

    How are you feeling?: Scared.

Rants/Raves: Had our scan today. I’m so in love. I got to see his face too. I think he looks just like his dad.  Everything about him is healthy, but I have Placenta Previa. Meaning my placenta grew on my cervix. They also said something about my placenta being split. So I’m high risk and have been told that I will have to have a c section around 37 weeks. I’ve been really scared and sad all day. They said that they will have to keep a close eye on us to make sure he’s getting enough nutrients to grow and that there’s a big chance I will go into preterm labor. I go to a specialist tomorrow and will be asking a lot of questions. It breaks my heart that he’s perfect and my body decided to grow the placenta in a place it shouldn’t. Great news is that he’s on the bigger side and in the 75th percentile. So he is getting nutrients. I have not had any bleeding yet but they suspect I will and that I will need to go in immediately. Just needing a lot of positive vibes right now. My NP did sound very hopeful and said that most placenta previa cases she has seen do go full term and the babies are healthy. 💙🙏🏻

    Questions:

GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? Lol 😏 Chris Hemsworth!

@baby_love7 It's wonderful that baby Jaxson is healthy!  I'm sorry to hear that you got some scary news about your placenta; however, placenta previa is a fairly common condition and I am sure that your doctor knows what to do to help keep you and your baby safe.  They will keep a close eye on you with extra scans and appointments which will hopefully help to ease your mind as time goes on.  I am also having a scheduled c section at 37-38 weeks due to a medical history which puts me at risk of uterine rupture if I were to go into labor.  Sending you support and best wishes!
  • Options
@k_mama91 did you get any answers about your kidneys today?  Any relief from your pain?
  • Options
@baby_love7 It’s so great that Jaxson is healthy! I know how you’re feeling, it’s so upsetting to have a perfectly healthy baby but your body may jeopardize it. I know I feel scared to even move around right now. Take it easy mama, we’re here for you!

@blueskychicago12 I’m hoping to get a call from my doctor today. Yesterday I had a dull ache all day versus the sudden stabbing pains I’ve been getting. It’s still sticking around this morning so I’m thinking there’s definitely an issue.
  • Options
    Thank you! @blueskychicago12 @k_mama91

I have an update from my appointment this morning.

I have Vasa Previa. The umbilical cord grew on a membrane near my cervix instead of on the actual placenta. If I make it to 32 weeks without bleeding, they will hospitalize me until my scheduled c section at 37 weeks. If I do start bleeding, it means the cord has detached.

@baby_love7 Wow 😯!  I’m sorry you’re having to deal with all of this info all of the sudden.  It sounds like you’re in good hands now that they’ve found this out.  Take good care of yourself for baby Jaxson (which I ❤️, btw- Jax for a nickname is sooo cool 😎).  If you aren’t already, maybe try adding some meditation to your day to calm your nerves and head down.  You’re doing everything you can do ❤️😊, mama!  Let us know how things progress 😊👍

@k_mama91 also sending good thoughts your way for your kidney health! I really hope you don’t have to deal with any extra surgery treatment right now, but if they can figure something to keep you and baby boy as healthy as possible, then that’s what should happen.  Hopefully non- invasive is an option.  Let us know what happens- lots of ❤️ to you, mama!

@baby_love7 Goodness that’s scary. It’s great they have a plan in place and that so far your boy isn’t growing nicely so it doesn’t seem to be hindering him in any way. Big prayers being sent your way 💙

@cpk3535 Thank you! I got a call and I don’t have any infection, blockages, or stones. No surgery thank goodness. My right side isn’t draining that great which is why it’s sore and they’ll keep a close eye on it. One less thing to worry about. I’m just praying my spotting doesn’t get worse and we can make as long as possible.

@baby_love7 I’m so happy to hear your baby is healthy, but I’m so sorry for the stress you must be going through. That must be very, very hard news to hear. It’s a good thing that they know what’s going on so that you and your baby boy can get the care you both need. Wishing you both all the best!

Holy cow (or holy pregnant lady starting to look cow-like)- Dude, this is the week my body went from semi-non-pregnant looking to no-denying-it pregnant looking!  Clothes are fitting differently, weight has ticked up a bit quicker in a week, and I had four customers ask me when I was due today alone!  Crazy how fast things kick in and change!  Here comes 21 weeks tomorrow!

@cpk3535 I was asked at a get together multiple times about the baby and his due date yesterday. I was even in a loose non maternity shirt! I don’t even want to think about how much weight I’ve gained 🐄
