Re: group 2 (3/9-3/16) check-in w/o 7/15

  • EDD/W+D: 5+4

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out, probably with the Panorama test

Baby is the size of a(n): Appleseed or dot snal

    Upcoming appts: US on 7/25

How are you feeling?: Sore boooobs! Also generally tired. Nausea seems to be okay unless I forget to eat.

Rants/Raves: I got contacts for the first time and while they're super convenient, I think they got my prescription wrong. The screen is blurry when I work on the computer, which doesn't seem right, and doesn't happen with my glasses.

Questions: Anyone finding any good prime day deals?

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts?
Oooo Podcasts I like are all true crime or psych related.. MFM, Terrible Thanks for Asking, Dear John, Up and Vanished, Serial, etc. I like a lot of different books. I just finished Where the Crawdads Sing and really enjoyed it!
  • @WorkingOnMyNightCheese I’m prob in group 3, but I just wanted to say I LOVE your username.

For Prime Day, last year we got a roomba and the year before that I got my mom a kindle. I think we’re skipping it this year since there aren’t any appliances I need. I know women in my last BMB all got instapots last year and love them.

    EDD/W+D: March 10th/5w+6d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Plan on finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Appleseed

    Upcoming appts: July 26th...can't wait!

How are you feeling?: I am feeling good. Had a nice relaxing weekend. I have sore boobs and some lower back pain but that's about it.

Rants/Raves: So, I went to the movies yesterday to see Midsommar (very interesting/creepy indie film) and we went to this new theater that has heated recliners! I am usually freezing in those theaters but that must have been the most comfortable I've been at a theater ever. The heat felt great on my lower back lol

    Questions: None in mind.

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? I am a big reader. I have a local book club that I am a part of and we have been reading a lot of non-fiction stuff lately. I recently read Educated by Tara Westover and A River in Darkness: One Man's Escape from North Korea by Ishikawa, Masaji. Both are pretty intense reads but so good. I also really enjoy murder mystery fiction like the Tracy Crosswhite novels by Robert Dugoni.

I have just recently gotten into podcasts but some that I am currently enjoying are Crime Junkie and To Live and Die in LA.
  • @WorkingOnMyNightCheese Yay another true crime fan! I just got into podcasts so I am going to have to check out some of the one's you mentioned.
  • @WorkingOnMyNightCheese I’m prob in group 3, but I just wanted to say I LOVE your username.

lol, thank you! I've said this before, but I'm pretty much Liz Lemon IRL.

Thanks for the tips on Prime!
  • EDD/w+d: March 10, 5w+6

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Green!

Baby is the size of a(n): lavender bud

    Upcoming appts: Aug 1

How are you feeling?: Was doing great, but last night MS and weird dreams (darn you, Stranger Things!) hit pretty hard. Rough morning, although Jolly Ranchers seem to help for now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rants/Raves: Rave, for sure. Got to meet my best friend’s brand new baby this weekend. New baby smell!

Questions: anything work well on morning sickness for you?

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts?

I’m a huge reader too, @stacey6689. My book club is reading Eleanor Oliphant this month, but I’m also reading a Liane Moriarty, Emergency Contact (it’s a YA), Strong As a Mother (Kate Rope), and just finished Lincoln and the Bardo (I assume you’ve read, @EmilyLove25?) I’ll read just about anything though. And I’ve got the new Ruth Ware in my library hold cue, @stassischroeder

Podcasts — mostly NPR ones like Hidden Brain or Planet Money. Love one-offs that last the 25 min of my biking commute.
  • @pdx2020 I never had bad morning sickness, but having an empty stomach made it worse. So it might help to keep small snacks around so that you never have a truly empty stomach.

@sunflower_auryn OMG! Well, now you have the longest wait ever to see if you'll have twins or not! When are they doing another scan?

EDD/W+D: unsure lmp June 1st but I had my viability scan today and it looks like im a week behind. I’m 5w ish. Just gestational sack. I might’ve seen a little bit of the baby

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out bf wants a girl

Baby is the size of a(n): poppy seed

Upcoming appts: Blood draw Wednesday. Another ultrasound the 26th

How are you feeling?: tired mostly

Rants/Raves: no rants or raves at this time

Questions: should I be worried we couldn’t see baby at this point?

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? Idk

    UPDATE: 7/18/19
so results of both blood draws are in. First one was 18804 and the second was 28601. The midwives called me and said that it was an adequate rise and to keep my ultrasound appointment in the 26th I should be almost 7 weeks if they think I was 5 at my last one
  • @mindyfau are you sure of when you ovulated? Your LMP isn't always accurate as not everyone ovulates on cycle day 14.

@stassischroeder I only have an educated guess as I wasn’t  trying to get pregnant but my app says between the 18-20th of just my bpf was on the 3rd of July
  • edited July 2019
@mindyfau apps just estimate ovulation and generally aren't accurate unless you were temping or using OPKs. My guess is that you ovulated later. Either way FX that this is a sticky bean for you!

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green:  finding out!

Baby is the size of a(n):  lavender bud

    Upcoming appts:  7/26, I can't wait

How are you feeling?:  meh.  See Monday B*tchfest.  My house is currently filled with intolerable smells and I fussed at DH enough that he's coming home early to help me clean.  I'm also generally tired, but still waiting for sore boobs and nausea.

Rants/Raves:  We are going on a mini trip tomorrow for two nights.  I'm so looking forward to spending time with DH and DD and leaving all the pets behind (with sitters, of course).

    Questions:  none

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts?  Ugh, this question always stresses me out!  Even though I wish I was, I haven't been a huge reader lately!  I'm a big fan of Augusten Burroughs, David Sedaris and Jeffrey Eugenides though.
  • @sunflower_auryn EEEEK!  What an exciting/nerve wracking thing to see!  I can't wait for an update.  My husband is convinced that we're having twins based on my betas and the info he found on betabase and he talks about it nonstop ::eyeroll::  Just the thought stresses me out!
  • edited July 2019
@keeksie84 just checked out Betabase. I was 27 dpo when they did the test and beta was a little over 26,000. What are yours?
  • @sunflower_auryn 17 dpo = 1213 and 19 = 3338. They don't seem that high to me, but they lean towards twin on betabase. I'm not putting too much stock into it though. We'll see on the 26th!
  • EDD/W+D: March 13th

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: def finding out and hoping for a girl!!!

Baby is the size of a(n): Poppyseed

Upcoming appts: I still need to call... (Oops)

How are you feeling?: Nauseous 😩

Rants/Raves: Yesterday, I took my 19 year old tot he beach and he did great! He loved everything which made me so happy since I love the beach! Today we went again and he cried the whole time. Apparently two days in a row was way too much, haha.

    Questions: None right now!

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? I love so many podcasts!!! I am currently obsessed with Swindled right now which covers white collar crime! My other favorites are Radiolab, More Perfect, The Daily, This American Life, and any crime ones. I also love to read and can't even begin to list my favs. 🤣
  • @acp2020 OMG I died. I thought you meant you had a 19 year old son who you took to the beach and you were proud of him.. I was like, what the heck? Shouldn't they be able to handle a trip to the beach at that age? But I see now you meant MONTHS old hahaha.

@pdx2020 YES! Read it right when it came out. Wasn't it wild? He's so gifted!

  • @stacey6689 what did you think of Midsommar? I didn't really think it was that great, or scary. I loved Hereditary and thought that was way scarier and better, so I had high hopes and was disappointed.
  • EDD/W+D: 6 weeks

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out...

Baby is the size of a(n): pea, earring back

Upcoming appts: Aug. 6th unless I change it tomorrow

How are you feeling?: I've started having nausea this week, and I'm EXHAUSTED by 3pm, but other that, I'm good. Lots of crampy twinges which is freaking me out. I don't know if that's good or bad...

Rants/Raves: My only rant right now is that we decided not to tell our 2 older boys until the first ultrasound, which I don't regret, but it is hard to be pregnant and not talk about it with the people that you are with 100% of the day. Even if they are tiny humans.

    Questions:

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? I am a true crime addict. LOVE Crime Junkie, a lot of the ones that you guys already listed. I also love That Sounds Fun, with Annie F. Downs and all things Enneagram. Currently reading: The Road Back to You and None Like Him, which is a Christian devotional type book.

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Keeping it a surprise (Green)

Baby is the size of a Sweet Pea (Awe)

Upcoming appts: Aug 1 will be first apt 😓

How are you feeling?: Queasy mode was activated this weekend, it all started when my husband sent me to buy aftershave and, “make sure you smell it to make sure you like it.,.” 🤢

Also waking up during the night a lot. Unusual for me!

Rave: I’m so happy to be working from home rn! I’ve never been so gassy! It’s nice to have privacy during these glory days of early pregnancy!

Rant:  it is so tough being pregnant and a mom to two kids 2 & 4. They have no mercy!!

Questions: Are others having to pee more frequently??

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts?
Stuff You Should Know, I seriously love it! These guys make up for all of the interesting stuff I snoozed through in high school and college but wished I knew more about.

@WorkingOnMyNightCheese I hope your eyes start to adjust. That's super annoying!

@stacey6689 Those heated seats in a theater sound heavenly!

@EmilyLove25 I think Cold and In the Dark were both really well done.

@sunflower_auryn OMG twins?! DH and I have joked about the possibility of having twins and it puts me in a panic! It's an idea I both love and fear.

@3rdbump I've been peeing more frequently!

@RanFan28 I've recently discovered the Enneagram and it's really interesting!

  • @sunflower_auryn It was disappointing to me as well. I didn't find it scary at all and the story line was just a little all over the place and dragged out. I agree Hereditary was way better.
  • edited July 2019
@RanFan28 I had tons of cramps and twinges with my first pregnancy and he's now a happy, healthy 15 month old :) This pregnancy is similar in that regard - I even sometimes have a weird burning sensation in my ute area. That was one of the symptoms before I tested that made me think I might be KU. To be clear - no severe cramps, just stuff similar to PMS-type cramps.

@3rdbump yup. Both last pregnancy and this pregnancy I pee ALL. THE. TIME.

@MrsVP614 I'm super impressed with your willpower to not buy anything during Prime Days! The only thing we've bought so far is a Waterpik for $40, which we didn't really need but have always wanted. Ha, being excited about a water flosser makes me feel old  :D

Baby is the size of a(n): bb pellet

Upcoming appts: July 18th (seems early but it is just pregnancy confirmation, maybe ultrasound)

How are you feeling?: tired, sick, hungry, and now my boobs are sore. Staying busy and snacking constantly seems to help.

Rants/Raves: Currently, just trying to stay strong and not go PrimeDay crazy.

Questions: What should I ask at my first appointment?

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts?
I am all about true crime podcasts. I love Crime Junkie, True Crime Obsessed, Moms and Murder.
Books are a mix of romance and suspense. I love grabbing ones off Reese Witherspoon's book club list.

    ------

@EmilyLove25 I have to check out this Bravo podcast while I do errands today.
  • @mrs-howard It's mostly about Real Houswewives and it is BRILLIANT.

  • EDD/W+D: March 12th, 5+5

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Opening of a straw

    Upcoming appts: July 30th

How are you feeling?: Not bad right now. I think I've been so busy the past couple days that I haven't had time to sit down and not feel good.

Rants/Raves: I had planned a trip with my girlfriends prior to starting to try and get KU. I knew it was a possibility that I would be KU on the trip, but didn't think it would happen this quickly. The trip is next week. I don't know if I should tell them upfront that I can't drink or try (and probably fail) at dodging questions regarding why I'm not drinking. I wanted to wait until after my first appt. to tell anyone, but my appt isn't until after we get back.

    Questions: None so far.

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? Guess I'm going to have to look into Crime Junkie! I listen to audio books while I work, so that could add some variety in for me. I love to read just about anything. I don't stick to one specific genre. It is a YA book, but I just finished Five Feet Apart. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it. Made me cry though (hormones).
  • EDD/W+D: 3/13, 5w4d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: not finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): apple seed

    Upcoming appts: August 15

How are you feeling?: Mostly normal with constant headaches and slightly sore breasts.

Rants/Raves: dragging my toddler out into the heat for her dance class today is not something I’m looking forward to.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? I like books so this is hard, but I’ll say any of Jane Austen’s novels are always a favorite.
  • EDD/W+D: 6 weeks 1 day

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out!

Baby is the size of a(n): apple seed

Upcoming appts: August 3rd for my intake appt with my midwife

How are you feeling?: SO nauseous and incredibly sore boobies...woohoo! Means those hormones are raging, lol

Rants/Raves: Fiance gets to take midday naps because he makes his own schedule...annoying! lol

Questions: anyone out there have some tried and true tips for nausea? I have two kiddos and didn't struggle with feeling this yucky with either, so i'm basically just sucking it up lol

GTKY: What are some of your favorite books and/or podcasts? oooooh i'm a sucker for a good podcast on self-help lol. gimme some good ideas!
  • 6 weeks + 3, two more weeks till my appointment.

Nothing new to report. My all time favorite book is Gone With The Wind. I love historical fiction. My favorite series is Robyn Carr’s Virgin River. I often wish I lived there.
