I have had three out of six anterior placentas. The only difference is I have harder time feeling movement with an anterior placenta. probably not related but both anterior placentas had nuchal cords where the posterior placenta pregnancies didn’t.
They also told me I had an anterior placenta at my 12-week scan. My midwife wasn't concerned about it. She just mentioned I would feel baby movements later. I can already feel the baby move, near my bladder only. Your placenta can also move up as your uterus grows. Like @daffodil_shoe said, placenta previa is the only concerning placement for your placenta. And if you had it, your medical team would have said something and would be monitoring you more closely.
TTC#1 10/2018: MFI (2 SA under 9 million/ml) 11/2018: HSG shows right Fallopian tube slightly damaged 1/2019: Husband diagnosed with grade 3 varicocele 4/05/2019: varicocele repair surgery 6/13/2019: BFP!!! I have one of each right now I can feel the one with the posterior placenta a lot more than the one with the anterior placenta, though I’m starting to feel him a little now too. My MFM wasn’t at all worried, just let me know it may lead to feeling less movement with that one.
@optimism3 I have an anterior placenta and had one with my first son also. No complications or interventions needed because of it. Supposedly you feel less movement (last time I definitely felt less), but I swear because this baby is huge and active I am feeling a ton of kicking anyway. DS was much quieter in there...
Too many to tag but thanks all for weighing in on the anterior placenta. It is reassuring to know there’s a reason I don’t feel much movement and to hear I’m in good company
I had anterior placenta with my first. Didn't feel her until 21 weeks (where this baby I have been feeling since 17 weeks) ...had no complications with birth my water broke at 40w+6 , and had a normal birth
@craftywitch posterior vs anterior obviously makes a difference but I noticed My first kid was much more chill in utero and my second was wild which is 100% true now that they are here. 🙈 still deciding on number 3 lol
Anyone else start to feel more anxious in the days leading up to their next ultrasound? I have no idea why and I don’t worry between them but the couple days before I have an US scheduled I start to worry about something being wrong. Feeling that way now and my next scan is Wednesday.
@Swiftlet Yes and also before doctor's appointments. My OB told me this is a really normal experience, so I try to just remind myself of that when my anxiety starts ramping up.
@swiftlet me!!!! The last week or so I've been in my head about it a lot. I still have a week to go before the AS. I try to remind myself everything has been good so far. Tests for the scary things have come back negative and doctor has been saying all of my part (BP, thryoid, weight, etc) has been right where they want it but I have that little bug of "what if xyz is wrong?"
@Swiftlet I feel that way too! I get so focused on the exciting 'I can't wait' part in the weeks leading up to the appointment, and then days before it shifts to 'oh god, what if something is terribly wrong?'
@Swiftlet yes I have a lot of anxiety this pregnancy. An appointment keeps me sane for about 2 days. I feel like October 24 is sooo far away for my next heartbeat check.

@Swiftlet yes! My AS is at 4PM today. I spent yesterday giddy with excitement and woke up today super nervous that something could be wrong. Hope you’re able to calm your nerves!
@clee2009 oh man don't tell me they will be more active when they are here too! My DD1 is so chill (sometimes) I am scared of how we will handle a wild child.

Totally @Swiftlet! My AS is this Thursday and it definitely has ramped up. I’m half eager to get there and half nervous. Hope the next week goes quickly!
I'm looking for suggestions on hamstring stretches that are easy to do pregnant. My growing bump seems to be getting in the way of the current stretches I've been doing. Any help is really appreciated!

This may seem like a dumb question but I’m going to ask anyway because it’s hard to google- do you need to buy breast milk storage bags that are the same brand as your breast pump? Or does any brand work?
@charbabymama you can buy any brand. Unless you want to pump directly into a bag instead of a bottle, there are bags made to fit on the pump part. But I found it less messy and easier to get an accurate measurement to just pump into an bottle and then pour into the bag.
@charbabymama Yep. Agree with @daffodil_shoe. I just bought bags based on price. One bit of advice, make sure you close the bags immediately. I remember almost breaking down when I spilled an entire bag of milk in the early days of pumping.
@celticknotfire I’ve been doing the usual bend over/touch your toes kind of thing, but modifying by widening my leg position which helps accommodate the bump. Hope this helps:)
Confused FTM here. I read about how you can’t let the baby sleep in the car seat outside of the car because it could obstruct the airway and lead to death. Anyone know why this isn’t an issue while they’re in the car? Also, should I not be using any swings or rockers, etc. that are inclined? I’m thinking about starting the registry but wanted to figure some of this out first. Thanks everyone.
@optimism3 when your car seat and base are installed correctly, it sits at the correct, safe angle in the base. When you just sit it on the floor, it sits more upright.
@optimism3 car seats sit up a lot straighter when they aren't in the car, which can make baby's head tip too far forward, which can lead to asphyxiation. With my first, if I ever 'needed' to leave her sleeping in the car seat, I made sure that I propped something under the front to keep it reclined (and of course checked on her often because I was paranoid of death )
Other baby products should be designed with a safe angle for baby to sleep, but always check on your baby because they aren't always one size fits all (if that makes sense).
@optimist13 my understanding from what I’ve read recently is, rockers and swings are only for when they are awake and you are in the room. If they fall asleep you are to move them to sleep flat on their back. This is all new since I had my last and who wants to move a sleeping baby?? So I guess you have to figure out what you’re comfortable with and read the guidelines that come with each device.
@optimist13 since you are putting together your registry, do you have any mom friends that have a swing that baby could try out before you buy? Because my daughter hated the swing and it was a total waste of space & $. Other babies love swings. Funny because now she makes me push her on the swing in the playground for sooooo long.
Agree with PP on the car seat, I did a few times prop the car seat up so it was well reclined if she fell asleep in the car and kept a really close eye on her. With my daughter if I had tried to move her she would have woken up. Another option could be popping the car seat in the stroller since that is also at a safe angle for napping. DD would always fall asleep in the stroller on walks and I would just wheel the stroller into the living room and relax for a bit until she woke up. These were the only times she napped not sleeping on me so it was nice to have an opportunity to get stuff done.

Okay so this might get some heat but figured this is the best place to bring it up. Is it wrong to ask close family that will be seeing baby to get a flu shot and the tdap booster (now includes whooping cough). Our hospital mentioned as a suggestion for visitors and then our pediatrician also suggested it. When I brought it up to my mom she thought that I was insane for asking such a thing. I know this might be a personal thing but just wondering how every has handled/handles things like this?
@brookert615 I've been wondering that too. I mentioned it to MH the other day and he had just gotten one at his checkup so I was wondering how to approach it with the rest of the family who might visit. My grandma, for instance...total antivaxxer nut...though I'm not sure if she'll come out when baby is born. Looking forward to seeing the answers from experienced mommas!
@babyroma I know my OB is saying that anyone who lives with me has to be vaccinated but it's like so much because I don't really know what's the right thing, you know? I've seen all of these posts where poor little babies are hospitalized because someone who was showing no symptoms of something ended up getting baby super sick by kissing or whatever.
@brookert615 my first was born in April 2018,so it wasn't as much of an issue when she was super small, but I DID ask my MIL if she would get it last winter (and she did) ..she bugged me about it a little, but understood why I was asking. I also didn't take my baby to visit out of town family until she had her first round of vaccines.
In saying all of that, I am pro germs for my kid as long as her immune system is strong enough to handle it.
Don't be afraid to advocate for your baby. YOU are the one who was to take care of a sick child. Don't be scared to ask people to wash hands first and to ask them not to kiss the baby. You can ask people to get the flu shot and if they don't you can decide not to let them be near the baby in flu season.
@brookert615, with DD we told family they have to get TDaP if they wanted to visit, they had no issues but be prepared to stand by your word to not let them visit. Newborn health is serious. Our families don’t need TDaP this time but I told them they need flu shots since it’s flu season. Because it’s flu season I will also probably not let anyone but family visit for like a month or two. Sorry not sorry for upsetting people who want baby snuggles. My baby’s health comes first.
This was the email I sent family: Since baby will be born in the height of flu season, we want anyone who will be visiting to get a flu shot. You shouldn't need a repeated TDaP shot because you got it 2 years ago when V was born. Thanks for helping keep baby safe!
I am also on the pro-vaxxing anyone who is going to be around my baby train. You will absolutely have to be willing to stand by your word though, if you do choose to make that stand.
Sos! Ok not that serious but my mom mentioned we didnt have a diaper bag on our registry and she needs one for one of the shower games. Suggestions for backpack styles? ETA-nvm just picked on that looked nice and H would be ok using too.
@brookert615 a lot of my family chooses not to get the flu vaccine. Which really surprises me now because my 15-month-old niece died of H1N1 when I was 39w6d with DS. It was awful.
*end TW*
Anyway, most of my family and DH’s family choose not to for whatever reason. Because these babes will be born in peak flu season, I plan on having a bright, bold sign on my hospital door saying something to the effect of “if you chose not to receive the flu vaccine this year, please put on a mask before entering” and having a box of surgical masks there outside my room. And of course if anyone is starting to feel any effect of a cold coming on, they will be asked to stay away.
