@thirdtimesacharm2019 how’s the panty line on those? I can’t stand panty lines and With my tighter dresses that show off my bump, I’ve been needing to wear thongs
For years I’ve only worn Target brand (Gilligan o’malley or whatever) black lace thongs (they’re stretchy and silky!) and don’t have to switch for pregnancy (though I gravitate towards the larger of the 2 sizes I have on hand, though not exclusively). I’m not prone to UTIs though, which I know can be an issue with that style. I got one pack of Hanes granny panties for postpartum last time and was back in my usual underwear 6ish weeks after DD was born.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 I have a MFM appt on Monday afternoon and OB appt on Wednesday. Think I’m ok with waiting til then or should call the dr on call tomorrow?
@purplg8r is it a noticeable difference or accompanied by any other symptoms? Slight pain for example? Did the swelling g go down with elevation and rest? I’m not an expert on swelling and pregnancy but when I broke my ankle they gave me some things to look out for when healing and swelling on one side was one of them as it could be a symptom of a blood clot. I would call - it’s what they are there for and if it’s nothing they will put your mind at ease...
Anyone else’s ob practice not testing your pee at regular appointments? I haven’t peed in a cup since my very first apt at 6 weeks to confirm the pregnancy. I asked my OB at my last appt and she said it’s actually not recommended as common practice anymore without other indication for it (such as sudden swelling or increased BP) but many offices still do it bc obviously it doesn’t hurt anything to check. Due to big moves this will be my third OB practice for having a baby and my other 2 both did it so just curious what others are experiencing
@olivemomma Mine just said the same thing. I haven’t peed in a cup since my 16w appt, didn’t think much of it at 20w since I had my anatomy scan. At my 24w appt on Thursday I asked if I needed to do it, and she said the same thing about not being standard practice anymore unless I had high BP!
@olivemomma I haven't had to pee in a cup since my first appointment. I haven't had any other indicators and besides me being AMA, this pregnancy has been pretty uneventful. ::knocking on wood::
@olivemomma I haven't peed in a cup since 8 week confirmation/registration appointment with the midwife. I know it's a different system here, but with DS I also only peed in a cup at the initial registration appointment to confirm the pregnancy on an hcg strip. No other time in the pregnancy.

@olivemomma it goes down some over night but not completely. And no pain. Just stiffness. Like if I’ve sprained my ankle running and it swells and it huge (but without the pain part). I’ve massaged around on my leg for a painful area or one hot to the touch but didn’t find anything. I’m driving out of town for the night but think I’ll call the dr to see if they have any suggestions
Eta: ok weird. I just got home from running a 5k and we wore running compression socks as part of our costume. The swelling on the top of my foot has decreased a lot and my ankle isn’t as swollen. (I wore the socks around the house last night and they did nothing but maybe the combo of compression socks, running and heat helped?)
@purplg8r if there's pain (especially in the calf), reddness on your skin, or your soon feels warm only in one area, those are some signs of a blood clot. I it your right or left leg? Do you cross your legs or ankle when sitting?
I had pain in my calf, plus all this other symptoms, and my that is what caused me to spend 6 hours in the ER. My doctor said it's probably nothing but better to be safe and get a clot ruled out.
I pee in a cup every appointment but I started this pregnancy with 10 weeks of a kidney infection and have history of pre-e. Not sure if it's just me or if everyone at my doctor does it.
@avrilmai I have the same ones as @thirdtimesacharm2019 They are amazing! I have some regular unders I bought a size up & much prefer these. The leg opening is a big more generous, they’re soft, and don’t irritate my growing belly. I ordered two different styles. I am v happy with both of them, though prefer the ones without the lace looking stuff.
@purplg8r I am not sure- FWIW, my left ankle is significantly swollen & my right is not.
@suzycupcake Your mom will hopefully love it! The only reason I didn’t, is bc I don’t want MIL to think this is another holiday all about her. I’m a mother & it is mine, too.
This talk of mothers day made me think back to last year, which was my first mother's day with an outside baby. The in laws happened to be visiting then and FIL must have said at least five times over their visit that it was MIL's first mothers day as a grandma 🙄 SHE kept re directing to me and saying "oh that's nothing compared to BigBadWolf having her first mothers day!" But he kept going back to the "first mothers day as a grandma" thing. The actual day ended up great and they both spoiled me, but the lead up was nauseating from FIL 😂

@olivemomma - ditto to no longer peeing in a cup. Did it at every single appt with DD two yrs ago, only did it at my very first appt this pregnancy (at 8 wks). Eventually I asked and was given the same answer...change in guidelines, and it’s no longer deemed necessary unless you have other signs / symptoms of pre-eclampsia (like high blood pressure). I don’t mind...I like being able to pee at home before I leave for my appt!
@olivemomma My Doctor does it at every prenatal visit because she says the test looks for more than pre-eclampsia.
@purplg8r I resolved awhile ago that I would not be playing Doctor suzycupcake with Doctor Google or anyone else online during pregnancy, but here you go anyway (it's best to scroll down to "Evaluation".) https://www.merckmanuals.com/home/women-s-health-issues/symptoms-during-pregnancy/swelling-during-late-pregnancy. It doesn't hurt to make the call and ask your provider what she/he thinks before you leave on your trip. With that being said, you'll make the best decision for you and your baby.
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

@olivemomma my OB is still having me leave a urine sample every visit. I'm low risk, and have had two uneventful prior pregnancies, so I'm pretty sure it's still sop for them.
i decided not to call before I left since the swelling had gone down some (so I know it can). I got to my parents house and one of the first things my mom (a nurse). said to me was “I don’t like how your right leg looks”. I just shrugged it off and changed the subject because I’m smart like that.
Re: Weekly Questions 5/5
you may want to call your doctor about swelling on one side, I’m thinking that could signal an issue, but not 100%
