@bartonolivia have you tried medication for that? I used to get sores in my mouth every time I felt stressed, but doc has me on medication to suppress it. Says there is no concerns with taking it while pregnant. Has made life so much easier!
@indulgentgypsy Ugh, not fun! How many times does it happen a week/month? I would vomit a few times a month for 2 years before my doctors figured it out. Turns out, after 17 years of eating pork products (bacon, ham, pork chops, pepperoni, etc) my body decided it couldn’t handle it anymore and stored it in my stomach and I would vomit for 12 hours overnight. I was diagnosed with CVS (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome) and was told to find my trigger food. It was pork. I quit eating pork, and almost 15 years later, I haven’t puked besides the occasional alcohol binge nights... it may be worth asking him what he’s eating and maybe even keeping a food journal. I hope it helps! Poor guy!
@jenniferjoy37 it has happened 1 or 2 times a month since we moved here. Never was a problem before, but it is getting really frustrating. If it is some kind of allergy or food intolerance (which I strongly suspect) then I am happy to switch his diet and stop this madness.
@fromcatstokids yes I have. It makes me extremely drowsy and gives me killer headaches. I don’t breakout that often— especially on my eyes so I don’t typically worry about it. I don’t get them from anything specific like stress so they just come randomly. 🙃 they’re frustrating but I hate taking medication if I don’t NEED to so I just take the medication when I feel a breakout coming to make it go away faster!
I wanna say TGIF but I don't have a single free moment til I get off work at 5pm. On top of yesterday, where I went to a professional development seminar filled with male misogyny, I'm just too tired to deal with shit. Q_Q
Having Waffle Friday after a week of state testing with my students, doing Geometric Graph Paper Art with my math class, and listening to the greatest hits of the 80s on my spotify. I'm trying to have a good Friday!
@foodislove *eye roll* male misogyny is such a horrible thing to deal with at work. Especially during a seminar where you can't get away. I can understand your exhaustion!
My mom put me in charge of making the wall flowers for my baby shower. These took SO long to do but I’m getting faster. Love putting my Cricut to use finally!
Spent a good chunk of the last two days in the Childbirth Prep class and I really liked it! Our teacher was awesome. I’ve alreasy done a ton of research, but this really helped bring it all together for me. Also, it really kick started a lot of conversation with DH about some serious topics that we need to talk about. Feeling more confident with my anesthesia free birth plan. Also found out my hospital is one of the few in our area that offer nitrous oxide which I’m really excited about! It is the one thing I was interested in. For some context, I have bad reactions and high metabolism for anesthesia so I was really stressing out about what this all would look like if I can’t cope. Still going to set up the appointment with my anesthesia specialist to discuss options if I need an unexpected C section for some reason. But im feeling a lot better about what I want to do for my labor!
@hakele I also have a high metabolism for anesthesia (I need like four shots for one cavity at the dentist), but luckily not a poor reaction. When I had my epidural for labor (prior to being prepped for the emergency c-sec that I needed), I could still feel my legs from the knees down and my feet, and that actually made me feel a bit more reassured. It was like they had fallen asleep and DH would massage my feet for me. With the c-section, the extra made me seriously nauseated, but that's apparently the reaction for most people. I got some meds from the nurses, but my doula also gave me peppermint oil on a wet washcloth and I swear that was the only reason I didn't vomit during the surgery, DH held it to my face to breathe in.
I warned the doctors and the anesthesiologist when I got the epidural that I metabolize quickly. I felt NOTHING during the surgery, and it wore off pretty fast after, but it wearing off faster meant I was allowed water & ice much sooner than I would have been otherwise (the nurses said I had to be able to live my hips a bit, and I was able to do that about an hour after being wheeled back to our room). So, scary for me, but also it ended up working out. Hope this helps you with your feelings about it (but also hope you get your med-free birth!).
@foodislove, that’s great to hear your good experience with it. Thanks for sharing. Mine was discovered with my wisdom tooth extraction, when I was alert and screaming my head off. I could feel every crack and can tell you their conversations. It is very vivid. Then my doc did some testing on it with me, so we could understand it. I usually get triple doses of topical anesthesia because it wears off so fast. And usually end up with stitches being done with no more anesthesia left. Not very fun. So now, I get to see an anesthesia specialist before procedures so that it can be planned for.
I also learned that that in the 40s and 50s they drugged women with scopolamine and I’m so happy we don’t live in that time!

@indulgentgypsy I hope you guys get it figured out.
