Frustrating. I need to rant, feel free to skip.
My husband is overworked, he currently has enough on his plate to keep at least 2 normal people busy. He is also a DIY guy. There are several things around the house which need to get done and he refused to hire a handyman because he can do them himself, but he also doesn't do them because he doesn't have time.
One of the things he is working on is getting a PhD, the next step is called "progressing to candidacy" where he presents his thesis topic to a panel of 3 professors, and they decide if it is a suitable topic for his dissertation. It was due at the end of January and so at the beginning of January I told him I would not ask him about anything that needed to be down around the house (outside of ordinary chores) until it was completed. For complicated reasons that are his adviser's fault he had to file an extension, and still has not progressed to candidacy. Every time I ask him about it, he says it will happen soon he just has to find time to schedule it!! I'm trying to be patient and keep my promise, but it is so difficult! It was easier when we were waiting for his professor to get moving, but now that the next step is his, I'm trying to figure out how much I can/should push him to just get it done already!
