PAIF w/o 3/8-3/14

@suzycupcake - Interest/traffic seems to have slowed down significantly, should we consider making this a monthly thread? Just a thought :)

Note: This thread will include discussion of infertility and loss. If these topics are triggering for you, please take care of yourself while reading and posting here.
This thread is for those of us who went through infertility testing and treatments before becoming pregnant. Many of us have had different struggles to get to this place and face different anxiety and concerns now. This thread is for us to support each other, and we hope it will be a safe space. Though this thread starts on Fridays/Saturdays, please feel free to post here at any time during the week, whether for good news or bad. Consider this an ongoing conversation.
This thread is for those who have experienced infertility. The struggles we discuss may or may not apply to those who became pregnant easily. If you have not experienced infertility, please be considerate and sensitive if you feel the need to post in this thread.

  • How far along are you? 17w0d
Any symptoms? Just some moderate reflux/upset stomach at exactly 8:45p until 10:00p, no matter what I eat, when I eat, how much water I take in, and regardless of when/if I take my Pepcid.
Rant/Rave? RANT: Why must toddlers have such extreme personalities/mindsets!? / RAVE: I've started making weekly batches of Dole Whips (3 ingredients, super yummy, easy ... and pretty guilt-free) and it makes me super happy to have something cold, sweet and sour, and not-so-bad available whenever I feel the urge.
Next appointment? Fri, Mar 29th, quick discussion for 20 wk appt then scheduling appt with MFM for anatomy scan
    Questions? n/a

GTKY: With my first pregnancy, I got skin tags (thankfully, teeny ones) in the most random places. I had never had them before. And some of my larger moles (a few near my collar bone and another on my head, near my hairline, underneath my hair) got really inflated. Super strange.

  • @MamaK225 Whatever you think is fine with me. Right now, internet breaks are a part of my self care plan. I had to look up to see what a Dole Whip is. What flavors are you making? I hear you on the acid reflux. Every night lately myself too.

@wabash15 Heart palps are weird. They always make feel out of sorts. Do you get them often while pregnant?

GTKY: Have you had any weird/strange symptoms with this (or previous) pregnancy that kind of shocked you was related to pregnancy?

Yes, uncontrollable laughter in second tri. My husband is a funny guy but he's super happy having me laugh at every single one of his jokes even the ones that aren't jokes. .. Hey, we're all just thrilled the anger has gone away ;)

One night last week, my tits were insanely itchy and my nipples got really really tender. Apparently that happens when they are growing and applying moisturizer stops it. It really did work.

  • @suzycupcake running is going well (except we had to change our normal route to now go by a gas station in case I need a bathroom stop). But I’m a little Worried now because at book club the other night the ladies were all talking about how their doctors told them that their heart rate couldn’t get above 140 when they were pregnant. I definitely get above 140 so I need to talk to my doctor even though she said running was fine.  And uncontrollable laughter sounds like a fun symptom!!
  • @purplg8r I wonder how old their Doctors are. Mine told me to do anything as long as I'm healthy. What book are you ladies reading?

  • I had to look up Dole Whip too! I'm not a pineapple fan but I could see making them with a different fruit!

@suzycupcake I love that random laughter is a symptom! I had a moment the other day when out of the blue I remember this minor internet drama from forever ago when a bodybuilder forum couldn't agree how many days of the week there were and I lost. my. mind. (Here's the link--there's some questionable language so be warned)

How far along are you? 17w 1d

Any symptoms? A little tired but nowhere near first tri. My back is starting to hurt but that's because of the inevitable combination of growing belly + carrying a 21-month-old. That's definitely a change from my last pregnancy!

Rant/Rave? Rave: I took some time off work and took an overnight trip with DD to a hot springs resort. They have a big pool with geyser water and it was very helpful to my back to splash around in there (carrying my daughter the whole time). I'm sure some pregnant ppl would avoid that out of caution but it's not hot enough to raise your core temperature much, especially with frequent breaks, lots of cold water drinking, and 50-degree weather outside!

Rant: anterior placenta is no fun! Last time I had a lot of movement at this stage but this time it's only sporadic. I'm getting JUST enough for reassurance that something is going on in there, but not enough for the CONSTANT reassurance my IF brain needs!

Next appointment? This coming Friday regular OB appointment (will be good to confirm heartbeat is sounding ok since I don't have the movement to rely on), and then AS on the 27th.

    Questions? not right now!

GTKY: Have you had any weird/strange symptoms with this (or previous) pregnancy that kind of shocked you was related to pregnancy? So you know how pregnancy is supposed to promote hair growth? Or at least, stop your hair falling out so it feels like it's growing more--but I had also heard that hair growth in other areas ramps up too. For me, the non-head-hair growth gets really weirdly slow. Like only shave my legs like once a month slow (not that I'd be especially vigilant about that anyway, especially in winter, but I during pregnancy I don't really need it aside from my negligence).
  • @suzycupcake we just finished reading The Gown by Jennifer Robson and we’re on the voting stage for our next book
  • @cato99 I feel you on the anterior placenta. I think I've only really felt this baby once so far (and I'm nearly 18 weeks) I struggles with this a lot with DD2 just not feeling her and worrying something was wrong (especially after all the movement of twins). Thankfully I have a better frame of reference this time, but I would love to feel more.
@purplg8r I have heard some docs say the 140HR thing, though non of mine have specifically said it (but I also don't work out at a gym or run much while pregnant. my understanding is that if you were doing pre-pregnancy then you should be OK and that your not supposed to work out super intensely...
    @suzycupcake hope your feeling better

  • @cato99 - I feel ya on the confusion about NORMAL things. I had a full-on panic about my gas gauge being broken/wrong ... turns out, I was reading it backwards. Also, I've owned this car for 7 years. :|

@purplg8r - Without a machine, you won't get quite the perfect texture, but it's damn close. I prefer pineapple and I end up using a shallow 8x10 and that will last me 10-14 days. Totally worth the 3 minutes it takes to put it together (if you take all the shortcuts - from "scratch," you're looking at closer to 15-20 min, depending on how skillful you are at dissecting a pineapple). - and I agree with @wabash15, if you're body is used to it pre-preggo, then it shouldn't stress your body much. I would assume the 140bpm is more or less the threshold for "intense" activity for non-active folks, like myself ;)

I'm also having some issues feeling DD2 move around in there. 2 weeks ago I had confirmation that I don't have anterior placenta, so I *really* felt I'd be feeling her by now. I might get one or two movements a week and - while comforting - it does cause some anxiety for the rest of the times. They're certainly not like with DD1 (who did have anterior) and I know I'm most likely remembering the movements towards the end that were much stronger and more obvious. Just kind of disappointed that I'm still on pins & needles without much reassurance for what seems to be foreverrrrrrrrrrr.
