hello everyone! My husband and I had been trying for over a year to get pregnant, we done 3 months of clomid. However, I decided to take a break and hadn’t been on clomid or temping or using opk’s since November. So turning up pregnant was a very pleasant surprise! My LMP is 1/21, due date 10/28. Hcg Tuesday was 959 and Thursday was 2451! I bled a little Wednesday night and stopped. Then I bled a good bit Friday morning but again stopped. So I was sent for a US this morning and could only see what appears to be an empty sac. I haven’t heard back from the dr yet, I assume they’ll do another in a week or two. Anyone have experience with this? Good or bad.

This happened to me last pregnancy. Empty sac at 5+5, HCG was almost 21,000.  I was certain of my O date so knew I should have seen something.  A week later there was a baby and a strong heartbeat, but measuring 4 days behind.  Another u/s in 2 weeks showed 2 weeks worth of growth.  

*TW* I did ultimately end up losing that baby but tests showed no chromosome abnormalities so it’s hard to say if the loss and early empty sac were related or not.  *end TW*

Many providers refuse to do an ultrasound until between 6 and 7 weeks simply because scans earlier than that can be ambiguous. If you weren’t temping or using OPKs being off on your dates by even one day can make a huge difference in what you see at this early stage.

This similar situation happened to me October 2018. I was 8 +1 when I went in for my first visit. The sac measured right but there was no fetal pole or baby. I thought maybe my calculations were off so I waited 2 weeks and there was still nothing. I did have early bleeding but it was very light and not painful at all. I thought it was part of the implantation process. I had a missed Miscarriage as the gestational sac continued to grow but empty. HCG numbers were doubling but no baby. It was rough but I’m hoping that your dates are slightly off and 5 weeks is also early for an ultrasound so there is big hope for you and I know its hard but rest and continue to pray. Keep us posted.

Had my repeat ultrasound today and we got to see a tiny baby with a heartbeat of 120! A week behind

This just happened to me last week, actually. I found out really early (like, right at implantation early) and my first appointment was at 5 weeks. I had what appeared to be an empty sac (we saw what MIGHT have been the yolk, but it wasn't very clear) and so I was scheduled another appointment, which was today. Saw the baby AND a heartbeat!

So long as you aren't bleeding a lot, don't worry. Just go back in for that next ultrasound.

Edit: I just checked back on the date of OP and *facepalm* at me. But I'll leave this here anyway, for others.
