Upcoming Appointments: This Thursday to go over the AS results and for my monthly checkup. Last week's appointment was cancelled due to an ice storm and of course we're set to get another one on Wednesday/Thursday so my appointment might get cancelled again. However, it will ease my anxiety a bit if I get to hear the HB again. Stupid anterior placenta. It has me worrying constantly since I still rarely feel anything:/
How are you feeling?: Physically ok. I started exercising again. Not hard...just walking and stairs...but it's helping me to feel more like myself. Still super nauseous most of the time but I'm not throwing up as much as I was. But I do get incredibly tired by the late afternoon. Mentally the bits of movement I feel every now and then are helping...but I still get very worried if I go for almost a whole day or longer without feeling anything. I'm hoping I start feeling constant movement in the next couple of weeks. I had a dream about baby last night so I think my subconscious is finally starting to break down some of the walls.
Rants/Raves: I'm starting to feel a little more attached. Up until now it's been like I've been watching someone else's pregnancy and not my own. I'm still terrified something will go wrong which is still keeping me at a distance...but not as much as before. Also...18 weeks left for me!!!!
Questions: At what age would you bring baby outside to waterparks, beaches, parks etc. in the summer? I'm going to need to keep DD happy but I'm worried about having baby outside in the sun and the heat. It gets insanely hot here in summer.
GTKY: I'm most worried about the summer. As you can tell by my question above. I already won't be taking DD to the boat as per our normal summer routine so we'll be stuck in the city and SO can't take the time off work due to some really big projects so I have to find a way to keep her happy while keeping baby safe. Normally we spend the summer at the boat and we just pick up and go wherever we want every day. I love exploring with DD so she and I go everywhere. This summer will definitely be a challenge. Next summer will not be an issue. I already bought some full body SPF50+ beach/swimming suits (and we have awesome sun hats) for baby in anticipation of being outside as much as possible this summer.
@Panaceia, rule of thumb is like 6 months for sunscreen. So I’ll be doing little outside this summer. Instead, mostly finding ways to keep babe in the shade. Sadly.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/5, 20+3
Baby is the size of a(n): banana
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink!
Upcoming Appointments: as this Thursday!
How are you feeling?: great! But tired again....
Rants/Raves: None
Questions: nope.
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Balancing two kids.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I was exhausted from overdoing it though.
Rants/Raves: I’ve been feeling LO before bed each night. When I go to bed, he taps and rolls. Hoping other anterior placenta mamas get to feel it soon too!! Another rave, my DS has been very interested in the LO and likes to ask me how big the baby is now.
Questions: Does anyone else cramp fairly easy just from walking? I’m fine if I do the pregnancy workout videos (light weights, light cardio, stretching), but if I go for a walk I cramp unless I go really slowly. I’m going to mention to my dr, but I figured I’d ask...
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? I’m actually not worried about too much. I’m concerned we about the hospital stay and missing DS. I’m also focused on making sure DS doesn’t feel any less love.
@Panaceia DS was a November baby so he was 6 months old by the time summer came. His first summer we took him to the beach and the pool. We got a beach tent to keep him in the shade. We plan on taking this LO to the pool and to water/amusement parks. I plan on getting spf clothes and a hat for LO as well as keeping him in the shade. I did see something about using sunscreen before 6 months is better than too much sun, but I plan to talk to our pediatrician. Besides allowing myself to heal, I was planning a fairly normal summer for DS. I don’t want him to feel trapped inside as we love to be out in the summer.
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Finding out! And then not telling anyone
Upcoming Appointments: 2/25 check up in the AM & AS in the afternoon
How are you feeling?: Good! Paying close attention when I feel anything in my belly area... Trying to learn to identify what is baby
Rants/Raves: Had a nice visit with my parents this weekend
Questions: I am worried about the summer heat but more because the control system for our AC is kind of wonky and unpredictable. I love being outside a lot more than my husband does, but I think we will be waiting until fall before spending a ton of time outside. Definitely planning on covered stroller walks for fresh air though! I also like the idea of taking a pack n play outside and putting a fitted sheet over the top for insta-shade. Has anyone tried that before?
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? I have a lot of little concerns, mostly along the lines of "how are we going to...". My two biggest concerns are 1) initial family visitors (my parents have a very reserved style but my in laws are quite opposite... and we have at least one relative who is coming from India, and I am pre-stressing about that); 2) asserting our parenting style as a team calmly while sleep deprived... I will admit that historically, I'm pretty grumpy when I'm not getting enough sleep
@keebler6elf I’ve never put a sheet over a pack n play. This may be just me, but I’d be afraid it would get too hot with the fabric over it. I like our beach tent because it provides shade and allows air flow. I could see us using it in our yard this year.
Upcoming appointments: midwife and specialist appointment for a level 2 ultrasound/placental ultrasound both on Feb 28th
How are you feeling? Not terrible! I’m getting over a terrible cough so that’s still been a bit rough but I’ve finally hit the second trimester extra energy stage. I am having some hip and back pain I’m planning to ask my midwife if she can recommend a chiropractor
Rants/Raves: My in-laws are visiting this afternoon and I’m dreading that. My MIL is so overbearing and she just hovers over my daughter every second and tries to undermine everything I do as a parent.
Questions: tagging along with the heat question, what are you mamas planning on dressing newborns in? DD was a winter baby so lots of fleece and always wrapped up. I’m assuming baby will be okay in a short sleeved onesie and maybe pants in the house since the air can be cold? I thinking a thin blanket too since DD loved being swaddled so I’m assuming baby boy will too. I just worry he’ll be too hot! When it was summer with DD she was like 6 months old so it just seemed easier to keep her cool enough but not too cold.
GTKY: what are you most worried about when baby is here? Basically the adjustment from 1 to 2. How to manage my time between 2 kids, how to sleep when I have to be up with my daughter in the morning and take her to her activities. Also worrying about breastfeeding and whether my milk will come in or not since we struggled so much with DD.
Upcoming Appointments: Had a great anatomy scan this morning, all clear! I have a fetal EKG next Wednesday (just a precaution they are taking since I'm both AMA and IVF)
How are you feeling?: GREAT! Getting through the anatomy scan was a huge relief.
Rants/Raves: My non-pregnant co-worker casually said she just parks in the "Parking for Expecting Moms" spots because nobody knows if she's pregnant or not. Look, until I went through pregnancy myself, I had no idea how hard just walking can be in the last trimester. Swollen feet, round ligament pains, squished lungs, and just general exhaustion. So don't be a dick.
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? I'll have two under two - DD will be 19 months. It's gonna be crazy for a bit!
Upcoming Appointments: Had my AS today! She’s still a girl and everything looked normal! Next appt in four weeks.
How are you feeling?: Mostly good. It always feels like I’m out of a breath, and my nausea came back last night. Not as bad as it was though.
Rants/Raves: Found out I have an anterior placenta, which is why I’m not feeling as much as others. Made me feel a little better!
Questions: Anyone else’s out of breath? They checked me out today and said it was pretty normal to feel like that or either I was anxious. 🤷🏻♀️
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Managing work. I plan to gradually start going back 4-6 weeks after birth (depending on how the birth goes, probably longer if we end up having a c-section or complications). I don’t want her to stay with my in-laws everyday, so I’m hoping we can coordinate our schedules so it’s not often (we’re both contract/self-employed).
Upcoming Appointments: March 11 for placenta/c-section scar check
How are you feeling?: Tired I guess.
Rants/Raves: So we had 12-18 inches of snow dumped on us yesterday, and I had to shovel my driveway to make sure I could get to school this morning. DH injured his back so badly shoveling snow during blizzards in NY for the condo complex he worked for 15 years ago he is technically permanently disabled. Boys and I shoveled 2x yesterday, and then the city came through, plowed our road, and blocked our driveway again. Fortunately I had a 2 hour delay for school so had time to make sure I could still get my car out, but damn. I really wish they had just canceled, almost none of the side streets on our part of the peninsula are plowed.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Honestly, worried about the excess weight and Post-Partum depression, as I tend to get really bad. I'm up 20lbs now and can't control my eating and the PPD and body issues spiral me so bad, I don't think my marriage could survive another 3 years of intimacy issues like we had after my youngest son.
How are you feeling?: Good. Getting out of breath way sooner than I remember with my other two. Definitely a lot bigger earlier with #3.
Rants/Raves: Having fun pickingp out things for baby now that we know we are having a girl.
Questions: nope
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? How my oldest two will share a room and adjust to the baby.
@keebler6elf - A sheet over a pack and play works good, most pack and plays are mesh sides so airflow isn't an issue.
@mrscammack - My kids were Jan & Oct. Im planning on mostly onsies for this one. Both my other two were always swaddled as newborns and I'm sure this one will be too when indoors. I'll take blankets to use in a/c.
@mrscammack DD was a January baby so by her first summer it was easy to be outside. For this one I found a great little business in TO that makes SPF50+ full body sunsuits. Despite being a little pricey I bought a couple because I know we are going to need them when we're outside and I don't want baby being too hot or getting burnt. Inside I'm just going with onesies or rompers. Nothing fancy. Whatever I have from DD that is weather appropriate and fits:) We have AC and the upstairs where the bedrooms are gets much colder than the downstairs so I'm thinking a sleeper and a lightweight sleep sack for night time.
@mama_bear19 Thank you for that:) I'm glad I'm not the only one planning on bringing LO to all the outdoor summer activities this summer. Obviously within reason. I already have amazing iplay SPF50+ sun hats from DD that I LOVE and I've ordered a few SPF50+ sun suits so I'm hoping that plus shade will work. I think also aiming for activities a little later in the afternoon when the sun isn't so terrible might end up being a good idea for things like the beach etc. DD does not do well when trapped in the house.
@rgn12 Yes to getting out of breath quickly. I climb 3 stories of stairs every morning to get to my classroom and I am dying by the time I get to the top!
@indulgentgypsy +1 to worrying about the weight gain. I haven't weighed myself in almost 6 weeks now and I do not want to step on the scale. I'm trying to get more walking in every day to help to combat some of the eating due to nausea that I've been doing lately:/
Upcoming Appointments: just had an AS today, serial growths and fetal echo in a few weeks.
How are you feeling?: Tired
Rants/Raves: I had the opportunity to put myself on the schedule for my repeat csection and while I know things didn’t go as planned last time, it makes me feel better knowing there is a place holder.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Trying to recover from a repeat csection with two kids and DS not taking well to my slowed pace and the addition of a newborn.
Upcoming Appointments: next Friday. Regular OB visit
How are you feeling?: I had really bad sciatica flare up last week which was horrible. And then I threw up on Friday for the first time in weeks! But luckily that was a once and done thing. So far this week I’m feeling relatively decent.
Rants/Raves: Rave: we toured the hospital we are going to give birth in last night. I liked it a lot! Rant: my husband thinks I’m going to want my MIL “living” with us in the coming weeks before baby gets here in “case of emergency” I looked at him like he was damn crazy. It’s not happening 🙅🏻♀️
Questions: do any of you see a chiropractor? After the sciatica flare up I had last week I want to avoid that at all costs again
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Everything haha. This is our first so it’s all new but really exciting! I’m probably most nervous honestly about finances. I’m a teacher so I don’t get paid normally in the summer unless I teach summer school which obviously I can’t do this summer. And summer school is not part of my contract so I can’t take any paid time off for it.
@Panaceia I also really like iplay! I’m planning to get spf gear for LO. I agree within reason.. I think we’ll be able to balance outside activities with LO and keeping DS active and happy. @Panaceia & @indulgentgypsy +1 on the weight.. I’ve already gained more than they told me to with staying active and watching what I eat. I’ve been stressing about it so I think I’ll bring it up at my next appt.
@Panaceia the body suit idea sounds awesome. We also have air conditioning so I’ve bought a few pairs of thin long pants to go with his onesies while we’re inside, I’m also thinking sleepers for bedtime, we’ll have him in our room for the first few months so I’m hoping it’ll be easier to monitor his temperature that way
Rants/Raves: I’m really happy that I’ve been able to keep up (mostly) with my exercise routine, but man...it’s getting harder! Been walking a lot more frequently during my jog sessions, and now that my belly is starting to grow, running just feels weird. And I’ll have to pee like five minutes after leaving the house.
Questions: none at the moment, but I’m glad for the conversation about keeping baby safe in the heat. For example, I didn’t know spf wasn’t good for newborns, so yeah. I’m learning a lot, and glad you experienced moms are here!
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? omg I didn’t know I was supposed to be worrying about that yet!! I’ve been so focused on trying to have a healthy pregnancy and just get her into the world okay that I haven’t thought too much about the rest. I guess finances are a thing, as well as round-the-clock responsibility for another life. My husband travels a lot for work so I’ll be on my own frequently, yikes.
How are you feeling?: Surprisingly good. Just a little SI pain here and there.
Rants/Raves: DD had a grandparents day/night so DH and I could sleep and it was glorious! I haven’t slept a full night in forever and it felt sooo good!
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? juggling 2 under 2. Luckily, both sets of grandmas are retiring from teaching in June, so they’ll both be there to help.
I spent the morning in L&D today. Womp womp. I developed severe vertigo last night so I'm just laying in bed hoping the world stops spinning soon. They couldn't figure out what's causing it but it is slightly better than it was so they let me go home. Baby is totally fine. They said possibly some compressed nerves in my neck/spine but if it gets worse they're sending me to neuro. I hate missing work:/ Luckily I see my OB on Thursday so if it's not much better at least I know I have an appointment on the books.
Upcoming Appointments: Had the anatomy scan last Friday. All good! Nothing further scheduled yet because we are moving. More on that below.
How are you feeling?: At the moment, exhausted and sore. I had to give up on running because it just became too painful and uncomfortable, not least because after about 17 weeks, I felt like I desperately had to pee the entire run, every run, no matter what - even right after making a pit stop. So I decided to switch to swimming, which I haven't done since I was recovering from a broken ankle almost 2 years ago. I was a competitive swimmer in high school, but my upper body is definitely no longer used to doing that much anymore. I've done two not-that-long workouts in the past two days, and I feel like I've been run over by a truck.
Rants/Raves: I've been MIA for a while (minus a few posts from my phone, which somehow always has me signed in to an old Knottie account no matter how many times I try to sign out and sign back in using the right one) because my life has been crazy hectic. Very long story short, I'm quitting my job and moving halfway across the country to start at a different firm, which meant travelling all over the country to interview while trying to keep up with my current job and keep up appearances so they didn't get suspicious. I finally settled in on where we're going in the past few days. It's not quite ideal timing for such a big change, but I'm excited about where I'm going. And in the long run, I think it's the right move and needed to happen now rather than a year from now due to where I am in my career (and will probably be easier without a kid than with one).
Questions: Nope.
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? First time mom who has never even changed a diaper, so the list is long. But in general, not knowing what the hell I'm doing!
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue ♥️♥️♥️
Upcoming Appointments: next up is glucose test and us to recheck baby’s heart
How are you feeling?: good
Rants/Raves: I’ve calmed down from being accidentally told the sex of our prescious boy #4. I’m still upset but I’ve calmed down.
It it snowed here for the first time so I’m excited to take my boys out and throw snow balls 😂. They e been begging all morning so we compromised and said if they ate their breakfast and picked up their toys we’d go out and play. Never seen them move so fast 😂
Questions: for those that have tested positive for prenatal diabetes in previous pregnancies, how concerned are you for being positive again? I went undiagnosed for both Prenatal diabetes and preeclampsia until I delivered my twins with my last pregnancy and my ob is testing me early Incase I develop early.
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here?
I work third shift. I’m so anxious for my husbands mental health taking care of two toddlers and a newborn majority of the time. I’m considering finding a new job so it doesn’t all fall on him. He’s always been super helpful after my deliveries in the past, but I’ve always worked first shift. So we shared the exhaustion evenly you could say. Our system normally went he did diaper changes at night then handed babe off to me for feeding. But with me working third he’ll be in charge of it all once I go back to work. I know with everything in me that he can handle it perfectly. I just know I’ll feel so guilty for his exhaustion because of it.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 2nd/21 weeks, 1 day
Baby is the size of a(n): Head of endive
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): BLUE
Upcoming Appointments: Not exactly sure-my phone is across the room and I am too tired to get it. I am thinking 3/13.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I need to get back in my workout groove.
Rants/Raves: So last night I woke up around 2:30 am to our master bathroom shower on. I went in to check things out and our master bathroom was entirely flooded, with water pouring down into my son and daughter's bedrooms. Apparently the husband turned the shower on in his sleep-at least that is the only explanation we have. I happened to fall asleep on the couch. We have a recliner couch and I was super congested, so I found it easier to sleep out there. Luckily we had a snow day today, so we spent the entire day cleaning and moving things out of the rooms so we can get it all fixed up.
Questions: What was your baby's weight at your 20 week anatomy scan?
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? I am most concerned about finding time for everything the kids want to do and their activities. My kiddos have big plans for the summer, so I have to balance that along with a newborn. Then in the fall, thinking about work along with all of their activities is going to be a lot. Luckily my oldest has his driver's license now and is a big help, but he is going to be busy with his own things too.
@hellmanpartyof5 ugh to being told when you did not want to! Did the tech just accidentally slip up or did they not know that you wanted to keep it a surprise?
@xtinecatherine Oh no! Water is such a disaster to clean up. I hope there wasn't too much damage! And I'll ask what baby's weight was at my appointment tomorrow (assuming it's not cancelled again seeing as how we are in the midst of yet ANOTHER ice storm).
@hellmanpartyof5, generally people are repeat offenders with gd in subsequent pregnancies. But I feel like those statistics don’t apply to twins. Because nothing applies to twins.
@Panaceia fingers crossed for your appointment. Spring has to come soon, right? We have been slammed with weather too. We have not had a full week of school in five weeks and it looks like more bad weather is headed our way next week. Right now we are heating up all of the rooms and dehumidifying them. Then they are coming back tomorrow to see if that helped. We had to take out pieces of the ceiling in two of the rooms, but are hoping that we can avoid a total gut job.
@xtinecatherine it’s was bolded in all caps in our file. She’s a new nurse in the office and wasn’t familiar with our wants and didn’t pay much attention to the notes in our file. Short story is she called to tell me they’re wanting to do my glucose test early and then proceeded to congratulate me on another boy. I was devastated. Not because we’re having a boy- I’m very thrilled to be a boy mom 5ever. But she took away a special moment my husband and I wanted for our last baby. DH was fixed right before we found out 😂 we just wanted to make it as special as possible. I’m still very, very upset about it and my ob removed her from my care team- which I’m grateful for. But I’ve calmed down a little.
@hellmanpartyof5 I would be so upset, you sound like you’re handling it very well! I know mistakes happen but it just seems like a careless thing for someone to say when they don’t explicitly know that you either know what you’re having already or that you want to know.
So exciting that you’re having another boy though 💙
@xtinecatherine I hope the heat and dehumidifier help. I'm sure the last thing you want is to have to gut anything! Having part of the ceiling taken down is more than enough to have to deal with. I'm pretty sure that whole scenario is near the top of my list of nightmares when it comes to home ownership!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 21 weeks today, EDD July 4
Baby is the size of a(n): endive
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): pink
Upcoming Appointments: regular appt next Friday then a second u/s on March 4
How are you feeling?: so tired and my sciatic is killing me most days but the nausea is gone so I can't complain
Rants/Raves: I was nervous when the dr at the AS said I had to come back. They didn't get a good enough look at her spine last time. She said the first view they got was good but because of her position they couldn't get the second view they needed. I'm feeling not as nervous anymore and am getting more excited that I get to see her again.
Questions: nope
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? I'm mostly concerned with keeping everyone happy this summer while recovering from a csection. My parents don't live in the area and my in laws are no help so we're pretty much alone.
@Tippy05 I had the same issue with spine pics with my first. I was super nervous at first as I thought there must be something wrong, but nope. DD was just stubborn and wouldn't move. Once I clamrd myself down a bit, I loved having another US and getting to see her again:)
@Tippy05 I had my AS today and I have to come back in 4 weeks. Baby wasn’t cooperating, and they need to see more images of his heart. Don’t worry, it happens more often than you think. Just think it’s extra pictures of your little one!
A/S today! All good! They said I might need a hysterectomy because of my placenta placement and my c-section scar? I dunno. I think maybe she was being weird... but also, literally don’t care as long as baby comes out okay.

20 weeks, July 8th
Baby is the size of a(n):
Banana
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out):
Pink
Upcoming Appointments:
Had my AS today! She’s still a girl and everything looked normal! Next appt in four weeks.
How are you feeling?:
Mostly good. It always feels like I’m out of a breath, and my nausea came back last night. Not as bad as it was though.
Rants/Raves:
Found out I have an anterior placenta, which is why I’m not feeling as much as others. Made me feel a little better!
Questions:
Anyone else’s out of breath? They checked me out today and said it was pretty normal to feel like that or either I was anxious. 🤷🏻♀️
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here?
Managing work. I plan to gradually start going back 4-6 weeks after birth (depending on how the birth goes, probably longer if we end up having a c-section or complications). I don’t want her to stay with my in-laws everyday, so I’m hoping we can coordinate our schedules so it’s not often (we’re both contract/self-employed).
Baby is the size of a(n): banana
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink
Upcoming Appointments: 3/8
Baby is the size of a(n): endive
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Blue
Upcoming Appointments: just had an AS today, serial growths and fetal echo in a few weeks.
How are you feeling?: Tired
Rants/Raves: I had the opportunity to put myself on the schedule for my repeat csection and while I know things didn’t go as planned last time, it makes me feel better knowing there is a place holder.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? Trying to recover from a repeat csection with two kids and DS not taking well to my slowed pace and the addition of a newborn.
Baby is the size of a(n): endive
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue 💙
@Panaceia & @indulgentgypsy +1 on the weight.. I’ve already gained more than they told me to with staying active and watching what I eat. I’ve been stressing about it so I think I’ll bring it up at my next appt.
Baby is the size of a(n): Belgian endive
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): girl
Upcoming Appointments: March 6
How are you feeling?: Tired. Large.
Baby is the size of a(n): banana/ paper airplane
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): 💙
Upcoming Appointments: 2/21 for AS!
Baby is the size of a(n): Carrot
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink!
Baby is the size of a(n): endive
@panaceia feel better soon!
So exciting that you’re having another boy though 💙
Baby is the size of a(n): trenta sized starbucks cup
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue
Upcoming Appointments: 3/11
How are you feeling?: horrible
Rants/Raves: I'm the complete and utter opposite of last week - down as down gets. I've been so sick, I don't remember feeling this sick in years.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you most worried about once baby is here? becoming a mom, so I guess everything
