@lilmamabebe3 wait, define "drugstore" makeup? Like Maybelline/Cover Girl/etc.?
I think dugstore encompasses a lot, but in particular I mean the really terrible stuff--maybelline, cover girl, etc. because it's just so bad for your skin and there is "high-end" makeup that is typically the same price range and just so much better. Take care of yo skin!
@lilmamabebe3 I almost never wear makeup so I was curious, ahahaha! My favorite makeup I've ever had was Bare Minerals. I can't stand liquid foundation & I liked that the Bare Minerals didn't make my skin feel like it was suffocating. And re: circumcision, I understand why some people are against it... but like, it's your kid. It's your choice. Leave me & my kid's weiner out of it.

A co-worker and I were discussing today: why does EVERY holiday have to be celebrate AND be over-the-top for kids in daycare and school?
Like I remember Valentine's Day, St. Paddy's, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas growing up. VD really only started in grade school (once you could read) and was only those little cards. St Paddy's was "you wear green so you don't get pinched." Halloween was the best because there sometimes was candy, but definitely no costumes.Thanksgiving you might have a special meal, but it was mostly making hand-turkeys for your parents. And Christmas might be a small Secret Santa exchange or a singular candy cane. Maybe I'm just old, maybe public schools were awful in the 80s-90s. But this was my experience in the 13 schools I attended from K-12 in 6 different states. Now, I feel I'm always bringing in snacks and cards and having to negotiate special outfits per teacher's instructions (I have a toddler, so not grade school yet) every other week.
I don't mind, I just think it's a lot to ask most parents - especially when it ends up falling mid-week. I can remember things on a Monday or Tuesday, but good luck for the rest of the week. I feel it sets a lot of *us* up for failure and it'll be really disappointing for them as they get older and these holidays are mostly non-events for the rest of society.

@lilmamabebe3 I wear makeup literally 1-2 times a year. So I typically buy e.l.f because I can't justify anything more expensive than that for only a couple hours a year. If I wore it more I'd have to get something higher end at least for the eyes because my eyes are crazy sensitive.
@hey_clever_girl Couldn't agree more. None of anyone else's business. @MamaK225 Yes! I already get overwhelmed with all of the things to bring and outifts to dress my 1.5 year old in.
Going on kind of the same theme, I can't stand the "graduation" from every category of life. High school and college graduations are a major accomplishment after years of dedication to education and hard work. Preschool, kindergarten, fourth grade, sixth grade, eighth grade etc graduations really bug me.
@lilmamabebe3 I ran out of my eyebrow pencil and didn't want to drive to sephora and needed something asap, I picked up an Almay one from the grocery store and I looked like a clown. As with most things, you get what you pay for.
@lilmamabebe3 🙈 I’ve only ever bought cover girl makeup. But I don’t wear much, just eyeliner and mascara mostly, so I didn’t think the brand mattered all that much unless I was going crazy with foundation and contouring and all that stuff I never do.
@mamak225 as a parent of a kid with food restrictions, these holidays KILL ME. Well really the parents, your 2 year old does not need to celebrate V-day and bring candy in for the daycare class... because F**K my kid cant eat it and is left out and I'm the parent who didn't even think this was a thing with 2 year olds.... ugg its the worst... now I have to plan ahead for every damn holiday, birthday or faux celebration to make sure I have safe food items.
maybe this leads to an UO... I don't think kids should have food/candy at school for celebrations. do some drawings, have a dance party what ever but leave food out of it. There are too many kids with food allergies that get left out.

Women have a higher rate of mental illness than men and you don't see them becoming mass shooters. Mental illness has nothing to do with it. It's just men plus violence.

I skew towards expensive makeup and skincare (Drunk Elephant for serums, Bobbi Brown for foundation, Urban Decay for eye shadow, NARS for mascara, Benefit for brow care) (I'm not fancy though, my look is mainly "goth hobo who also hikes a lot"), but there are a couple of holy grail items for which I'm DIE HARD DRUG STORE. As a daily dramatic-eyeliner-wearer, I can say with authority that the Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Crayon is hands-down the best. I've tried the famous Stila liquid one, I've tried Dior, but only the $6ish CVS solution will do!
Never said men are just violent @sourlemon. I said it's men plus violence and not mental illness. My opinion. Most men aren't mass shooters

@suzycupcake I misread your comment slightly. Yes you said men plus violence. But the intent of my reply doesn't change. Women seek help more often and get treated for mental illness. There's also such a stigma of mental illness that men are more reluctant to reach out for help. Of course both genders face the same stigma but men seem to care more about it *in my experience. Also the ages that mental illness starts affecting men and women is different. For example schizophrenia strikes men at a younger age (which also falls in with the age group of many mass shooters) than women. Maybe the men, who are too afraid/proud/ashamed/just don't know how to reach out just don't know how to handle things and act out (im trying to say this better but my 2yo is screaming at me and my 4yo is being a pita). Meanwhile, mentally I'll women, who are slightly older and know how to seek help, do so, instead of acting out.
I'm not denying that most mass shooters are men. Violent men that probably do have legitimate mental illness issues. But I do believe that mental illness plays a huge role in it. Also, not all mental illness is what we typically think of. Most serial killers were narcissistic.
While for many things I do prefer expensive make up brands, I have not find a good mascara that I like more than my Cover Girl one.
I could not care less if people circumcise or not. Same goes for anything else that has no effect on my family, cosleeping, breast vs. Formula, cloth vs. Disposables, etc...
It drives me crazy when people are gluten free by choice and make a HUGE deal about it.

@suzycupcake I totally agree. @sourlemon of course other things may come into play. However, I think it’s fair to point out that every other country in the world also has men that deal with mental illness, at the same ages men in America do, yet they are NOT suffering from repeated mass shootings. The logic just doesn’t hold up.
@sourlemon I get what you're saying but I don't agree. This is a great article if you're interested https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/01/17/gun-violence-masculinity-216321 I Lol'ed at your parenthesis I'm not sure though that the 35 years, no mental illness diagnosis part is true, have to fact check that. But, there are many people with mental illness who don't become mass shooters and like olivemomma said, what of other countries?
It's my belief that NPD and ASPD aren't mental illnesses. Not sure if that's what you were saying at the end. Hard to tell.

@suzycupcake I agree that mental illness doesn't explain it all...but I'll always believe it's part of it. And yeah, narcissistic personality disorder I think is a mental illness. We can agree to disagree on all of that though. I probably have some weird opinions on mass shootings because DH survived one (VT) and my elementary school had a shooting (domestic violence) while I was there. We don't talk about it in our house because DH has some PTSD around it.
Now my older one is doing yoga and the 2yo is playing the drums. I just can't win today. Also, not a UO, just advice...don't buy your kids drums! It may seem awesome but it sucks. And of course they love it! Well shit now she grabbed a recorder!
I’ll have to respectfully disagree on the makeup situation. I don’t wear that much, and I can’t justify spending a lot of money on it. If I ever used good makeup I’d probably be hooked.
Weiner whacking, on the other hand, is totally the parent’s business only. And there’s memes?!? What kind of sick person is making weiner whacking memes??
My unpopular opinion is that I hate all politics/politicians equally. I think career politicians are way out of touch with how the average American lives. I think they are all self-serving and will say whatever to get elected.
Let's see: My father has celiac, it annoys the shit out of me when I hear someone has "taken up" GF living. I think crafts is the best idea for holidays, I hate when my daughter has a baggy of goodies when I pick her up and I have to magically snatch, hide, and distract or else it's a terrorific drive home I agree with toxic masculinity, stigmas around mental health, and glorifying violence and being able to say whatever to whomever, whenever ... Bad combo. If we had term limits, that might help that hot mess express in the Land of the Shutdown.
UO ... While my kids are young, I'd rather spend my disposable income on services to make my life easy (housekeeper, yard guy, etc) - so that I can spend more time with my kids and to do so with less stress - than to spend it on a big family vacation they probably won't remember anyway.

I'm not denying that most mass shooters are men. Violent men that probably do have legitimate mental illness issues. But I do believe that mental illness plays a huge role in it. Also, not all mental illness is what we typically think of. Most serial killers were narcissistic.
I could not care less if people circumcise or not. Same goes for anything else that has no effect on my family, cosleeping, breast vs. Formula, cloth vs. Disposables, etc...
It drives me crazy when people are gluten free by choice and make a HUGE deal about it.

It's my belief that NPD and ASPD aren't mental illnesses. Not sure if that's what you were saying at the end. Hard to tell.

Now my older one is doing yoga and the 2yo is playing the drums. I just can't win today. Also, not a UO, just advice...don't buy your kids drums! It may seem awesome but it sucks. And of course they love it! Well shit now she grabbed a recorder!
I love my family but if anyone bought my sons drums I might have to disown them.

UO ... While my kids are young, I'd rather spend my disposable income on services to make my life easy (housekeeper, yard guy, etc) - so that I can spend more time with my kids and to do so with less stress - than to spend it on a big family vacation they probably won't remember anyway.
Me - anovulatory, non-Insulin PCOS, DH - low end of "normal" sperm count

FET#3 - 08/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)

ERA Testing - 12/17 - window moved (-1 day)
FET#5 - 03/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
Karyotype Testing - 04/18 - Negative (we're ok)
