I’m 23 weeks tomorrow and baby boy has been keeping me up with his ninja moves. Any suggestions? He’s calm throughout the day, but when i lay down it’s karate baby part 1! Help
my my favorite line of all time which people have told me during pregnancy and after...sleep when the baby sleeps.
But in in all seriousness, consider your positioning when sleeping. I know I feel more kicks if I’m on my right side vs. left and then also fewer kicks when I rest in a slight reclined position. I few ladies in my last bumps group would sleep in a recliner so 1) they could sleep on their back and 2) they wouldn’t be dealing with painful ninja kicks all night long like when they were sleeping on their side, fully laying down.
I’d also consider the food you eat at this point. I notice that if have a meal with lots of spice or sweet to it, baby kicks up a storm for a while afterward. But when I eat more bland food (helpful for heartburn too) baby isn’t nearly as active at night and I’m able to sleep better.
All of this is purely anecdotal and not scientifically based at all, but worth thinking about if you’re trying for some 😴 zzzs.
I would say watch what your eating before you go to bed. And try to sleep when you know he is sleeping. Like with me, I know that late night pepsi always gets my baby ready to party. I also know that he is up from 10pm on the dot to about 10:30pm EVERY NIGHT, that's when he kicks, flips, and ball up. If I sleep on my stomach, he kicks the bed. If I sleep on my side, he tries to kick the bed. So like the other person said, find the side he doesn't prefer. and or sleep on your back. Plus if he is kicking your ribs, you can always push him down from your ribs. Put your hand where you don't want him to be and he will move.
thanks for the suggestions ladies! I will definitely be more mindful of what I’m consuming during dinner. It sounds like I could be the reason since my sweettooth kicks in before bedtime.
Typically your moving all day is rocking him to sleep, so they tend to be most active when you're not moving! I try to do some light exercise before bed. It seems to be rocking her to sleep and sometimes I can sleep through the kicks.
Goodness I wish I felt as many kicks you all do!! I have had anterior placentas with both of my pregnancies, and I have to really focus in order to feel anything!
Depending on how I lay, I can sleep through the kicks. But sometimes he just kicks none stop. Its funny now because he will keep kicking until me or my husband rub my stomach. Then he stops. Like he trynna say hey rub me.
Have you felt baby completely flip around inside yet?! That sensation is so weird, awkward, and super uncomfortable. My little one usually is a nut at night and quiet while I’m dancing or moving around. Heading into the third trimester is usually when I start really getting painful moves. Sending sleepy dust your way. Hopefully little guy chills so you can rest.
