The Great Question Thread!

Re: The Great Question Thread!

  • @lillywonderland omg, I actually started laughing when I read the 'over 25' - I know tons of people aren't over twenty-five when they have kids, and similarly no offense meant at all to those who weren't!, but it was just so funny to read that and think of myself at 25, lol.
  • Loading the player...
  • @lillywonderland @ternsetc It was so long ago, I don't even remember being 25.  But it's probably more that I'm almost 40, so my memory isn't what it used to be...
  • @nomangos23 Advanced maternal age, beginning pregnancy overweight, family history of type 2 are most of the reasons to being of higher risk.  A lot of my dad's side has type 2 and  I had GD with my first pregnancy at age 31, didn't have it with my 2nd pregnancy the next year.  We will see with this one.
  • @monkeysmom80- you give me a slight hope. I had GD with my first and because I know that the likelihood is high of you having it with your second, I have just excepted it. Maybe I can have some of the same luck as you!

  • @cateyes543 I was shocked that I didn't have it.  But it may have been better if I did, she came out at 9lbs 2 weeks early  :/

I shared this in PGAL too but wanted more opinions :) We had our 16 weeks check in today. Heart rate was 135...(down from 160+ at 12 weeks) does anyone else ever buy into old wives tales? My daughters was above 140 the whole time, so a lower HR is making me think boy! Anyone with experience otherwise? (Yes I'm team green but I find it fun to guess all the time!) If you don't mind indulging my curiosity for a bit, if you know the sex of your baby will you share that & the babies current heart rate?

  • @MsBeachNJ we don’t know with this one yet, but with our first his heart rate was 145 the whole time, so spot on with your theory!
  • @MsBeachNJ with DS he was always over 150 so mine was the opposite of the old wives tale lol

  • What are you guys doing for sinus pressure/headaches? I'm dying over here. My OB did tell me it is okay to take Claritin-D, but everything else I've read says that decongestants are a big no-no. Curious about other options...
  • @MsBeachNJ Same as @zuuls_mom - DS was always over 150!! (This little dude/dudette has also always been over 150...so I’ll let you know in a couple weeks assuming we no longer are team green!)
  • @kgg2241 flonase.  MY Dr says its ok.  And I believe you can do sudafed, the good stuff that you need to show your id for
  • @MsBeachNJ I don’t remember with my first, but this time HR has always been over 150 so far and it’s definitely a boy!
  • @kgg2241 I think decongestants are only a big deal if you have high blood pressure. If your OB okayd Claritin D then you should be fine.

GD testing is so strange. I failed the 1 hour with DS but passed the 3 hour. Then with DD, I passed the 1 hour by a lot. Weird.
  • @mommyshark13 ah that makes sense. Thank you!
  • I failed the 1 hour with DS by 2 points, I think cut off was 135 and I got 137.
The 3 hour was brutal, I thought I was going to die. If you have to do it, bring food to eat before you drive away! I think I failed just the 1 hour on that, but my fasting, 2 hr and 3 hr numbers were perfect.
  • @calliah That's almost exactly what happened to me with DS. And yes... I thought I was going to die during the 3 hour!

@MsBeachNJ My son and current pregnancy which is a girl are always so close with their bmp. My DD was 168 at 10 weeks and 148 at 14 weeks. My DS was 165 at 10 weeks, and 152 at 14 weeks. So pretty similar! 3-4 bmp difference.. I don’t buy much into that old wives tale. My DS’s heart rate was always in the 150s/ 160s through my whole pregnancy. I did do the baking soda test with both and they were accurate. Again, just an old wives tale 😂

@calliah thanks for the tip! Definitely will do. fingers crossed the 1 hour is enough. 🤞🏼
  • Has anyone used a home fetal Doppler found the HB and then not been able to find it again and everything turn out ok?  I’m terrifird that I will go into my check up tomorrow and find out I’ve lost my baby.. if everything is ok I’m gettinf rid of the Doppler as it’s caused me so much stress

@missrebecca421 Dopplers are the devil!! I don’t have a home one, but my placenta is on top so even at the doctor they can’t detect a heart beat which then means I have to get an ultrasound to ensure everything is ok. That lingering doubt is always there though.  Throw the thing away!
  • @missrebecca421 I don't have a home doppler, but it has taken my doctor close to 7 minutes at both of my last appointments to find the babies heart beat. She said the baby evades her. She wasn't worried yesterday when it was taking an eternity (while I was internally panicking) because she said she could hear the baby moving around. I share this to say - she's got years and years and thousands of pregnant women worth of experience and she still has trouble finding it easily - so it could very well just be hard to do for the untrained, especially if you have an elusive baby that likes to run away! Good luck at your appointment- keep us posted!

  • @missrebecca421 yes that's me. I have been consistently finding hb but there have been times I can't.  Usually I'm bloated and haven't had a good #2. I honestly feel the same as you with getting rid of mine. Everytime I get it out panic sets all over me
  • Had my appointment. Baby is still measuring correctly but HB is very low (like 85bpm at 15 weeks) going in for follow up with specialist tomorrow. I’ve never experienced a slow fetal heartbeat Im incredibly nervous about what is happening.

Has as anyone experienced slow fetal HB?
  • @missrebecca421 was that using the doppler? Was it a trainer person doing it? Perhaps they got your HB and missed baby's. At my last appointment the tech/nurse was up front at saying she's bad at the doppler so if she can't find baby's hb not to freak out. So sorry for the stress and uncertainty, big hugs to you.
  • It was via ultrasound by my OB. Having a follow up scan tomorrow. I’m hoping everything is ok but I’m very worried. Sorry don’t mean to bring down the group but I’m freaking out
  • @missrebecca421 don't worry about bringing the group down! We're here to help answer questions and support each other. I would be worried too and I hope everything is ok!

  • @missrebecca421 you're not bringing the group down at all! This is what we are all here for--to love and support each other during this crazy time! I'm so so so sorry you're worrying and going through this stress. I have no experience with low fetal HB but ::TW:: do have experience with 4 MC's, so if you end up on that route, please feel free to reach out to me ::end TW:: I will be prying for you tonight and all day tomorrow! Hoping for the best for you and little baby!

  • @missrebecca421 I hope everything turns out ok! That’s definitely a slow heart rate for that fetal age, but sometimes their hearts randomly slow then go back to normal. I’ve watched it happen a few times, always freaks me out.

Not baby related but my old username is coming up.. just wanted to let you know it’s septoctkids and not some random person just chiming in! 😂 Anyone know how to fix it?
  • @autumnbaby-2 It looks like you’re logged into that account. Try logging out and using a different email (the one associated with septockids) to log in. If you can’t remember what email is for which one - check the settings on this account to see what email is associated with it and don’t use that one.
  • @lillywonderland got it! Logging out worked. My old username is associated with an email I don’t even have running anymore so I had to start over with this pregnancy. Not sure why it logged me into that one. Oh well. My alias is back! Haha
  • Just wanted to send an update. Unfortunately I’ll be leaving this group. It wasn’t meant to be this time for me. Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts and I wish you all the best of luck!
  • @missrebecca421 I’m so sorry for your loss :(
  • @missrebecca421 so sorry to hear this. We’ll be thinking of you
