CD 2 and y'all, i'm SO dang happy that my cycles have gone from 37 days, 35 days and 30 two months in a row! Hopefully none show up this month but a more regular cycle makes for more hope!
Everything crossed to those gearing up for BDing this week!
Happy 2019! Positive OPKs yesterday afternoon and this morning - already negative this evening. I m/c’ed on Dec 20 at 4w5d- hopefully this is actual o time!
I took another HCG test this morning and it only had a vvvfl! This is progress! That coupled with a high temp this morning has me hopeful my body is trying/already ovulated.
OPK was just a tiny bit lighter than the control line this morning. Like I can barely tell it's lighter. I am wondering if I should code it as a +. Probably not.
I go here now though I’m not super hopeful for this month seeing as this is the post-MC cycle. Flow only stopped a day ago so I guess CD8 today. I’ll start opk testing probably CD12 or so. SUPER nervous for my fertility specialist appt on Jan 24 as I have a plan in my head that I hope he’s willing to go along with...we shall see....
I shared last month that I had over a week of positive OPKs with the control line exactly as dark as the test. I figured it was because my body was struggling to ovulate right after still having HCG in my system.
The last two days I had two tests with the test line as dark as the control. Today, my test line is way darker than the control. Do you think today is the true positive? I am temping, so I hope that I can confirm that I am ovulating. Since I am such a light sleeper, I am not sure if my temps are super accurate.
@kerco925 that is annoying. With my last MC, it took my body about 4 months to regulate. I missed an O all together and two other cycles were anovulatory cycles. It is so frustrating waiting for our bodies to get it together. I hope you get a temp shift soon so you know everything is back on track
I have the same frustration with opks, I just stick with temping anymore... out of curiosity @kerco925, what kind of answer did you get in regards to +opks but no temp shift right away? @justarius, hoping doc is on board with your plan!
@rowedking6 I use wondfos. I havent spoken with a doctor about all the positives at this point. I wanted to temp first to get a better idea if I am ovulating. From what I read it could be the my body was ramping up to ovulate, but couldnt at that point. So maybe I ovulated later. Others had tons of positives and have still gotten pregnant. So it may be something or nothing at all. I did get my period two days late last month.
Hi all - first time on the board so apologies in advance if I say anything wrong / have posted in the wrong place / use the wrong acronyms!
Had a MC (first) just over a week ago at 6/40 and now WTO. I think trying again straight away will be helpful for us in terms of coping with the loss. So we’re planning to ignore all of the advice about waiting a cycle etc, and hoping we’ll be lucky enough to ovulate again straight away.
As an aside, does anyone know if I should be expecting to ovulate (if I do) at about the same time as usual, or does it shift, or is it one of those “everyone is different” type of things? I’ll be using urine test strips (are these called opks?) to track it, in case that makes a difference!
@knottiea8e7f23a13a07169 first sorry for your loss. Also you may want to change your user name from knottie to something we can remember. OPKs are the testing strips to test for Ovulation. Following a MC, your cycles can be wonky. It could take a few months before body regulates to a normal and what was normal before may not be normal after MC but usually body finds a new “normal” and also everyone is different. With my first 2 MCs, I waited the recommended cycle but after last MC I did not and started tracking as soon as I stopped bleeding. I think my body was the wonkiest after the last one and I didn’t O until like 2 cycles later. Hopefully that won’t be your case and you aren’t here long.
Do you kind me asking the circumstances (natural or medically managed) and is your OB monitoring your HCG or are you self monitoring? HCG can linger in your system for quite some time AL. Using OPK while you still have HCG in your system can result in false positive. Do you temp to track your cycles? If you are not temping, you will have no way to confirm that you ovulated. Your body can gear up to O and not follow through. That could make this whole ordeal that much more emotional. If AF hasn't arrived 14 or so days after a +OPK but you didn't actually O, then you would think you were late, take and HPT and get a negative That's heartbreaking before loss but certainly so after.
If you are not successful right away, try not to be hard on yourself. We will be here to commiserate and help you along emotionally.
Hi @prpl11butterfly - thanks so much for replying. I’m not sure whether you’d class it as natural or medically managed - no D&C or intervention but I had US and HCG blood tests at the hospital to confirm it. My last HCG was 30 (on Monday) so I’m hoping that means it’s rapidly getting back to normal; planning on doing at-home pregnancy tests from Friday on to see if I am still getting positive readings. I’d sort of assumed that if a pregnancy test is negative the OPK will work as it should but maybe that’s a naive assumption?
I haven't temped before, previously we’ve just tracked with OPKs which has seemed pretty reliable so far but perhaps I need to start temping if they won’t cut it after a MC.
I’m getting the impression I need to do a lot more reading up on this! Thank you for helping.
I would say it was natural then. If Fridays HPT is negative, then using OPK at that point would work as intended. You will still run the risk of having an LH surge but not ovulating. Since it's still early, you can try starting to temp now. Run to your nearest retailer and grab a Basal Body Thermometer (like $8 usually). Download the Fertility Friend app (free and full of tutorials and other useful info). You will need to temp religiously and at the same time every morning before getting out of bed. You can temp orally but if your a mouth breather, you may find vaginally works better (I do this and my temps are much more consistent) I have a Fitbit so I set the silent alarm for 545. I take my temp then go back to sleep until my usually wake up time at 625. My therm remembers the last reading so I enter it when I'm up for the day. Once you get a positive OPK, you should see a temp shift in the following days to confirm you have in fact ovulated.
Obviously you don't have to do any of this. But I would recommend it to prevent unnecessary heartache over a BFN that wasn't fully certian.
My cycles are much longer after loss. I O'd a whole week later for both of my losses that I had D&Cs for. Don't panic if it seems like things are taking forever. The first cycle post loss is hard emotionally.
Thank you so much @prpl11butterfly, this is so helpful. I spent quite a bit of time googling yesterday and all I could find was “wait a cycle or two” so it’s really helpful to know what we can do (and what to watch out for) if we want to get started again straight away.
Will see about starting temping and have a read up on that too. Thank you!
I got a positive OPK today and DH is off tonight so we are going to HIO and see what happens. I'm so excited that our timing isn't going to be completely off.
I kinda stepped away from all things TTC for a week, because I felt like I needed a mental break. I temped, but I even did that half assed and didnt wake up early. I am probably 6ish days from ovulation, so almost time for OPKs again.
Also on the BD train! I'm hoping for a +opk tomorrow but suspecting I'm going to have a late O month. Wouldn't actually be a bad thing since DH should be officially done with trips for a while by the time the next FW hits. I'd also be totally okay without having something to stress about through the month of Feb. Aweful month based on the past 2 yrs.
Well I had a solid smiley yesterday. It’s low today and no temp rise. In fact it dropped a tad. I’ll see what tomorrow brings before I decide what is going on
Had a day of flashing smiley turned to solid next day. Following day a low followed by 2 days of solid smiley. No real temp increase. Guess body is trying to O

CD11 today and my opk line is getting close to positive.

Also will figure out how to change my name, no idea how it got set to that long name!

I'll be heading to tww, we've been battling gi bug but I still managed to get rid of it before o date! Very good timing for us! Let's go 2k19!
Stay healthy everyone!
