Re: New Year New Randoms: Week of 1/1

  • Who all made it till midnight?

We stayed up till 11:30 and I couldn't do it anymore. 30mins fireworks exploded everywhere around us, waking us up and we literally rolled over and went back to sleep. 👵

  • I went to bed around 10. Husband fell asleep earlier than me. Lol we haven’t stayed up in years 😂
  • I think I made it until 10:30ish. As I fell asleep on the couch I told DH happy new year, a little early. About 1:00 he woke me up and we went to bed. With us both being sick, I'm surprised he made it that long. He is still in bed at 11:00am though, so I think he's paying for it.
  • I fell asleep fell asleep around 10pm 😂
  • DH and I surprisingly made it to midnight! We were binge watching House and all of a sudden it was 11:45 lol.

My brother and his girlfriend are coming over today to do Christmas because they were out of town, and then we went out of town. The boys are super excited to see them. Other than that just catching up on stuff around the house and work

  • We went to bed at 10... woke up at midnight to tons of fireworks. Just when I thought they were done, there were more. At least the baby and toddler slept through them!
  • I made it to almost 11 and then woke up at quarter to midnight. Saw the ball drop, kissed my husband and then promptly went back to bed. 😂
  • Dd and I both stayed up til 1245. Dh got off work at 12.
  • We all stayed up until midnight! Including 4 yo. But all 3 of us haven’t really moved today so... maybe we shouldn’t have.

My house is a disaster from the holidays. And I can’t even begin to figure out how to fix it. So I just stare...
  • We went out last night and actually had fun and we’re still home by 11. The waitress only tried to serve me alcohol twice after specifically telling her I couldn’t drink. Luckily I was paying attention. DH drank more than usual since we were out with friends and our three year old woke up at 4 this morning. Luckily we are just laying around watching football today.
  • I made it til just after 10. Husband was out driving for Lyft so it all felt pretty bleh. feeling lazy today, but at least I got us grocery shopped and meal planned for this week.
  • I took 2 naps throughout the evening to make it to midnight! Haha and here's the dinner I made between the naps!

  • @firecracker_mama now I want crab legs. That looks delicious.
  • @firecracker_mama That looks amazing! OMG! So jealous!

With an 11 month old, we were all in bed by 930. I worked yesterday, so I was up at 5am and there was No way I was going to make it. This pregnancy has me exhausted all the time.
  • @jenniferjoy37 thank you! This is our first so I only have to take care of me at this point.

  • @firecracker_mama, yummy! what is that thing that looks like it’s covered in cheese?

i stayed up (sort of)! We spent the night at my parents’. I retired to bed around 10 while my sis, husband, and BIL stayed downstairs playing video games. But I could hear them having fun without me, plus I got hungry, so I got up to ring in the new year with them and a bowl of cereal. Super festive!

Was anyone else hearing fireworks all night at totally random times, though?
  • @pizzaplz it's a failed twice baked potato (I broke the skin so I made a ''casserole" with the inside of the potato

  • @firecracker_mama omg that looks sooo yummy!!!!
@jenniferjoy37 I've been wondering how breastfeeding is going for you?! Is your 11 month old sleeping through the night yet (mine isn't :disappointed:) it's definitely exhausting!
  • On the 31st I worked so was up at 530am and theres no way I woulda made it to midnight. We put DS to bed around 730, DH went to bed at 830 (he works early and long shifts) so I "stayed up" til 1030 watching Bird Box alone! We were woken by fireworks our community puts on just before midnight. I just prayed DS wouldn't hear and wake up, promptly fell back asleep.
  • I tried really hard to make it to midnight... and just missed it. I fell asleep at 11:40. Woke up at 12:04 and got mad that DH didn’t wake me up. I told him happy new year, we cuddled for a couple of minutes, then DH fell asleep. And I was up for like an hour reading before I finally went to sleep. Ugh.
  • I went to bed around 930. Wasn’t even trying to stay up as we have all been sick. Today everyone was starting to feel better though so it still seems like a good New Years.

@ccmama3 I’m so sad because in the weeks after finding out I was pregnant, my supply TANKED! I was only pumping 1-2oz at work, and that was not enough for DD. We had to switch to formula and I’m pretty much dry as a bone. I have some regret because I really wanted to make it to a year, but 10.5 months is pretty good too!

Im so sorry your little isn’t STTN. DD is a champ and she usually sleeps from 9-7 consistently. She’s had a few rough nights, which I think are teething related, but other than that she’s amazing. I’m so lucky to have a kid who lets me sleep at night. Is your LO teething/sick?

    Edited because words are hard.
  • Has anyone made any purchases for baby yet? I let DD pick out a few outfits for baby to try to ease her into the idea of not being an only anymore. And then I picked out a few things. We don't need really any clothes since we have all of DD's old things so that's probably it. I need a bassinet and new car seat but I'll wait until 3rd tri for those.
  • @ccmama3 DD didn't consistently STTN until she was around 3.5 years old. So I know how hard it is. But she's a champion sleeper now (almost 5) so I'll take it:)
  • @Panaceia I bought two Christmas pajama suits over the weekend because they were half off. I'll probably start browsing clearance racks and picking up a few things here and there, but I'd like to do most of my clothes shopping during the kids' resale event at the local county fairgrounds in the spring.
Has anyone started planning the nursery yet? DH and I have a theme and I think he's going to redo the walls this month.
  • @Panaceia I bought my stash of cloth diapers and some cloth diapering supplies during the Black Friday deals. It was such a huge savings that I couldn't pass it up. Although this is my 2nd, we got rid of all baby stuff around 3 years ago. I've also got to figure out some sort of bassinet and get an infant car seat, but I'm probably going to wait until 2nd tri and then start looking for deals.
  • @jenniferjoy37 aw, I'm sorry!! But you are right, 10.5 months is great!!! She won't know the difference!! So glad she is sleeping well for you, that's so nice! My little guy was sick and teething at the same time... I'm hoping now that he's feeling better he will sleep a little better too!
@Panaceia my oldest started sttn at 14/15 months so I'm hoping for that again. 3.5 sounds rough  as far as buying thing... I bought a LouLou and Co knotted gown during their black friday sale because I knew I really wanted at least one! It's sooo soft! I have a small list of things I want/need and will be keeping my eyes peeled for sales. The biggest thing we need is a mini van, and we are planning to buy that in the next month! Eeek!
  • @Panaceia I ordered some cute gender neutral moccs and a couple of items from Target they had on clearance. I also ordered the lillebaby carrier they had on clearance.

@mamanbebe I keep saying I want to try cloth but I hate laundry. Which reminds me I forgot to move the laundry over last night and have to rewash them now.
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm if you hate laundry you shouldn't do cloth. I, too, hate laundry and cloth diapering was a huge fail for me lol! I loved the idea of it...
  • @ccmama3 Teething is THE WORST! FX for you to be able to sleep for a little longer!

@Panaceia We haven’t bought anything yet for this new child... I kinda want to figure out the gender first. If it’s a girl, I’ve got pretty much everything. We just need a new crib since DD won’t be out of hers yet. I want to get a doc-a-tot for this kiddo... and I think we’ll just use DD’s old car seat since it’s less than 5 years old and DD is in a big girl seat now.
  • It’s my first real day back at the office in two weeks and DH woke up proclaiming he is sick. I’m pretty sure it’s just the beer flu, but there’s no convincing him of that so he is, of course, incapable of doing anything today.
  • We have to finish our hall bath before we can move on to the nursery. And also, I think I want to find out the sex first. Our hall bath has been unfinished for over a year, so we should probably get on that, now that we are going to need it....
  • @asupernovablizzardstorm This made me cackle :D I also hate laundry, but mostly because of our laundry situation. We have one of those LG all-in-one washer/dryer combos and because they operate as ventless heat pumps, it takes FOREVER to dry stuff. Like 2-3 hours. We have to get a new laundry setup but we're trying to put it off until Spring because $$$$. That being said, I'm really excited to use the all-in-one cloth diapers! haha
  • Am I the only one who doesn't mind doing laundry? To me, all you do is drop in the clothes and detergent, walk away for a half hour, switch them to the dryer, come back in an hour, then spend fifteen minutes folding and putting away. I get so much else done while laundry is going on in the background!
  • @hestia14 I minded it less when I had a regular dryer and a big house. Now that I have a heatpump washer/dryer in-one (similar to this https://www.lg.com/us/washer-dryer-combos/lg-WM3499HVA-washer-dryer-combo), if you don't take things out immediately, they wrinkle and get damp. You have to drain the tank every couple weeks sot hat you can clean out the internal hair trap (I have a long haired large dog) or else the washer will break. You cannot dry wovens because they get wrinkled and so all button up shirts and dresses have to be put on hangers and dried hanging off of our canopy bed. It takes about 3-5 hours to do a load (one at a time since it's all in one) because the dry time is so long, so it's an all-day affair. I also live in a tiny house and have no laundry room and nowhere to really fold, so the clothes take over my entire bedroom floor in sorting piles until all the loads have been washed.
  • @hestia14 it's the folding and putting away. I literally have 5 loads of clean laundry on my bedroom floor that I can't muster the energy to fold and put away.
  • We actually were at a wedding on NYE. It was my best friend's brother so we had to be there and put on a good show. It was pretty easy to fake drink throughout the night once everyone else got drunk enough not to notice, ha! But we had to make it until midnight for the bride and groom. Yesterday I felt like I got hit by a freaking semi truck I was SO exhausted.

Today's my first day back at work in 2 weeks as well. So. Tired. Trying to dust out all the cobwebs and remember how to do my job!
