  • I know it’s early to be talking about this, but any other mamas planning on getting their tubes tied while I’m the hospital after delivery? I want to bring it up with my OB this next appt. DH and I are definitely 2 and through. Originally, we figured DH would get a vasectomy- but I know us. He will put it off and I will start to reconsider a 3rd Child and get careless. Next thing you know, I will be knocked up with an “oops baby” at 41 and then have a miscarriage and the  decide I really want a 3rd and go through all the drama that is trying to conceive a successful pregnancy 41-43. We can’t financially or emotionally afford any of this, so I really need to pull the plug on myself as soon as possible as possible. Just curious if others are in the same boat.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds I totally feel you. I have just given up trying in our current house, it's 3 of us crammed into like 800 sf, there is crap everywhere, not enough room for anything. We just have tubs of Xmas presents stacked in the living room. I am totally checked out until we move.

  • Me @chloe97.  I’m 37 and this is our caboose.  I’ve already signed the paperwork for a tubal during my scheduled CS.  I brought it up at my first appointment since DH and I had already decided we were done.
  • @chucksmom15 I definitely will do it at the hospital if I have a RCS, but I think we are still going the VBAC route (though that may change after my anatomy scan). I feel like some women do it while they are in the hospital even after a vaginal delivery since they are there, but I need to research this more.
  • @sleepy33 When are you moving?
  • @sleepy33 we both did that in our last house. And it was depressing. I think that contribute a lot to my moods and made it difficult. Things are a lot better in this house.
  • desktop bumping, how I missed you! But I supposed I should do my actual job instead of spending too much time catching up here :)
    Happy New Year bumpies!

  • Good morning,  ladies. I apologize for being MIA again. I haven't been feeling well since the weekend.  I tried keeping up with the posts but it was just too much. I hope everyone is well and I'll try to participate more,  now.

  • @knarlytaurus we close on the 25th of January, but we're planning on installing all new floors, so it may be mid-February...

  • I would ask your doctor @chloe97.  I’m not sure how it would work if you had a successful VBAC.  I would def have a plan in place though.  That way if the VBAC doesn’t happen and you end up with a CS they know to get it done while they are in there.  No sense in having a second surgery if you don’t need to.
  • Completely random but has anyone watched Tidying Up on Netflix? I enjoyed the book to help me get over the guilt of decluttering. Is the show any good?
  • @lappymom2019 I just started it yesterday! I've watched one episode and started another today. I like it. I am pretty good at decluttering because it makes me anxious but I like her tips and how she handles different situations. I haven't read the book though I've wanted to.

  • @lappymom2019 YES! I have only watched one episode, but I have to wait until DH is doing something else because he was so not into it haha. She's a bit much with thanking the clothes and everything, but there are such helpful tips!

  • @lappymom2019 I didn't know she had a show, but I just added it to my watch list and I'm excited to check it out.  I'm hoping for added motivation and inspiration.

On another note, my kids are currently playing Spot It and I think it's about to turn violent.  My 6 yo is very detail oriented and the 10 yo doesn't like being beat by a 6 yo.

  • @sleepy33 - I've been craving Japanese food like mad! What did you order? I tried making udon noodle soup last night and - while the broth and toppings were very satisfying - the stupid noodles I bought cooked out like spaghetti, not the delicious thick udon noodles I'm used to. I need to find a place to buy some that are for realsies...
So my mom has been giving me crap about my maternity clothing choices and asking me why I like my shirts so tight. Um... because they're the only type available? She told me in her day they had big flowy shirts so I looked up maternity fashion from 1982 (when I was born). Not cute and totally goofy. I'll stick to my form-fitting, bump-displaying shirts, thank you.
  • I'm watching the second episode of Tidying Up and they did a good job, but this couple still has way too much stuff in my opinion  :D but I get her thing is not throwing everything out, but tidying by only keeping stuff you care about.

  • @wishiwaspreggo I got a salad and two rolls, a spicy crab one and a shrimp tempura roll with this amazing spicy seasoning and sauce on it, it almost had like a blackened flavor to it. Last week, I only got one roll and I was disappointed. 2 rolls was the correct decision.

  • @wishiwaspreggo ha, that's so funny. My mom (who is not very fashionable at all!) and many others have commented to me that they wish they had cute, form-fitting clothes instead of huge tents when they were pregnant and it's great that they've made maternity clothes so much better than they used to be. Like literally random people would stop me while out, even when I was 8 & 9 months pregnant saying how cute the clothes are now.

  • @sleepy33 - Yum, good choice!! I love shrimp tempura rolls :) now you've got me craving sushi. Bah! I've already eaten lunch today but I may have to order in tomorrow at work!
@kvh22 - Yeah, I have no idea why my mom likes the shirts from the 80's. Wouldn't air fly up your top and make you chilly? Plus they're so comfy. All my shirts are made from soft fabrics. Love them!
  • @sleepy33 now I want a real crab california roll and edamame. It's only 11:15 here so I might place a takeout order. DH probably won't be thrilled he missed it lol.

  • @wishiwaspreggo if you really want to be horrified, check out Princess Diana’s maternity wardrobe.  It’s like they didn’t want anyone to know she was pregnant and thought if they draped her entire body in a tent of ugly fabric the size of a truck, no one would notice.  It’s so bad!

Also fyi — with the twins I outgrew all my maternity clothes in the third trimester anyway 🤷‍♀️

I do have a couple of more flowy maternity tops, but they only look decent because I wear them under fitted blazers to work (that long ago stopped buttoning).  On their own, the tent effect is too much.
  • Yesterday I made healthier choices, more protein, more veggies.

    Today I ate 6 toaster strudels 🙈
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds. I need to know what kind of toaster strudels.  For science.

DH went out for lunch with a new co-worker at my favorite restaurant in our town.  I had to eat leftovers at home.  I'm feeling very pissy about this.
  • @anonellis - Girl, you aren't giving me much hope here!! :# I already feel like Shamu lol... I was swimming at a hotel with my son and I could almost hear the Free Willy theme song in the background. I bought all my maternity clothes one size up so I'm hoping that will help make them last. But it's likely I'll be on bed rest during my final weeks anyway so... if I'm in bed in a pair of underwear with no one to look at me I'll be fine!
I'm gonna check out that wardrobe. Poor lady, that must've been uncomfortable!
  • @wishiwaspreggo - Maternity clothes today are so much better than the tents used in the past. My mom looks at pictures of her pregnancy with horror on the bright tent-like shirts available in 1976 when I was born. Form fitting clothes are so much better

We are having a girl and we are trying to avoid pink (boys clothes come in blue, green, gray, orange, etc) And have Bright colors instead and avoid “sweet” and “princess” labels, even if that means she will be wearing a lot of blue :)
  • @wishiwaspreggo that shit pisses me off. I also hate when "domestic toys" like toy kitchens, toy washing machines, baby dolls are bright pink. Pink is intended to appeal to females (whether that's the case or not is a different rant). So those toys are intended for females....so I should teach my son that he shouldn't cook, clean, or raise babies because that's a woman's job? He can have neutral colored tools and shit though. 🙄 I'm sorry, domestic toys like that should come more often in neutral colors (same with tools, or cars, or whatever). I also got pissy when DS got super into Frozen and the only lunchbox was bright ass pink. THE WHOLE MOVIE IS BLUE. It's just fucking annoying.
  • @kvh22 on the flip side of that, I love that they now have tool kits in pink and purple too. Just for the girls who DO love pink, you can be into tools and pink at the same time, I like that it's an option. And a lot of the STEM type toys come in pink too. For us, we specifically bought big things (toys and baby gear to be used by multiple kids) in gender neutral tones, nothing screams "boy" or "girl". I will be buying some pink and girly outfits because I love pink and girly things but she's also going to be wearing some of DS's outfits that I loved bc so much was gender neutral.

  • Really? REALLY?! We're going to start putting females "in their place" starting as NEWBORNS?! Oh, sure, I should encourage my sons to be ambitious with their goals but my little girl just needs to be "sweet" and be pretty like a silent flower and she'll be golden. FUCK THAT. Pregnancy hormones + feminist rage have me all riled up, y'all.
YES! YES! YES! This is why we're team yellow. I don't want people putting gender roles on our child before they're even born! Ugh! Solidarity✊
  • @kvh22 I've found it so much more difficult to find toys that are more oriented toward girls in colors that aren't bright pink. Easy bake oven is pink and purple, kitchens are more neutral now, but I had a hell of a time finding a boy baby doll, or strollers in anything but bright pink.

That said, I'll get DS whatever he likes, but I get irritated by what is overly pushed toward girls vs boys. And I know a lot of it has to do with their innate interests (DS loved cars and had very little interest in baby dolls), but it's annoying.
  • We joke around that if our daughter ends up being a ballerina we're in trouble since I am not that type of girl at all. I am okay with some cutesy-girlie things but not going overboard. My husband is in construction and I am sure she will have her own tool set.

In other news, I managed to actually have enough energy to do a prenatal yoga video! I hope it helps stretch out my sore hips.

I feel the same way!!! I always hated pink and girlie things (although I do have a thing for high heels and purses)...my parents always decorated my room with bright red and blue, they bought me superman Pajamas instead of wonder woman and had a variety of toys from dolls to a police motorbike and a tonka truck which was my favorite.....my husband and I would like to avoid pink and have her do a bit of every thing and my husband wants to teach her to play the drums as he plays...if she likes pink and girlie stuff, we will be in trouble...but will be her choice ;)
  • I was the opposite. I was super girly, my mom was a total tom boy and had no idea what to do with this girly girl who wanted to wear only dresses and be a princess and obsessed over hair and makeup. Now I'm a boy mom 😂
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds good point. I had an easy bake oven growing up but our play kitchen is very gender neutral and I never researched the strollers, MIL just wanted to get this one so I have no clue how hard it would be to find a non-pink doll stroller.

  • @kvh22 easy bake oven was the one toy I always wanted but never got. If DS showed more interest and wasn't allergic to everything, I'd totally get him one.
