  • @herosdaughter Of course! Wow yeah that's a great distraction!!! Hopefully your move isn't too stressful! ^^

Thank You!!!! It would be great if this one stuck ^^ IVF sounds like a lot lol
I do all kinds of stuff! I like to draw mostly, and I'm getting back into crocheting and sewing here and there! ^^ It helps to keep my mind working on other things!

@31magnolia Hey! GL!!! I hope this one is it! It is a very stressful process, I can see why you would want a break! FX that this one is it for you, you seem to be in really good shape! ^^

  • IUI took a little longer than expected. Bladder wasn't full enough butt all went well. SC was 92 million post wash with 90% motility. The doctor actually popped in and did the IUI this time, so that was a nice surprise.
Good luck to everyone in their TWW.
  • @31magnolia good count! Good luck!
  • @inthewoods23 Femara can create one follicle, but it can also create three. Clomid can create four, but it can also create one. It varies and it all depends on how our bodies choose to respond to a particular medication. Everyone is different. If one became the dominant last cycle, you still had two chances if two follicles grew to maturity even if one grew more than the other. I know you didn't ask for advice, but if you're not getting more than one follicle, based on the success rate of IUI, I'd absolutely ask for injectables. Looking back, I wish I had. It's such a personal decision though so don't let me convince you anyway. Giving you some info that I got back in my IUI days :)

  • @suzycupcake yeah it's something I think about if we should try the injectables if IUI #2 doesn't take. Last time I had 2 that measured around 12-13mm at midcycle, but a few days later that one stopped growing and one took over to be around 19 at the next US. This cycle I had 1 follicle measuring at 12 already so I'm not surprised I only ever had the 1.

Question is, how much more are the injectables going to cost us if we go that route?

@inthewoods23 our insurance does not cover. I found gonal f 450 vial (comes with 600 iu), for 369/vial. I always need about 2 per month depending on the amount. So, above 700 just for meds, that’s why we only decided to do 3 months of injections and then save for ivf. But maybe your insurance covers?

@ispi the trigger shots have not been covered so I'm guessing any other injectable isn't either

Triggered last night with Ovidrel and completed IUI this morning.
I'm going in tomorrow morning for the second insemination.
Curious if 2-day iui treatments are really more successful than single day?
Will try to BD several times today+tomorrow as well to increase my chances. I bought a ClearBlue ovulation kit and it was only a smiley face this morning (rather than flashing smiley face for peak fertility) so I found that a tad strange.
Husband's count was 76million motile sperm so even better than December's number.
Will try to do some yoga to calm my mind!
Good luck to everyone and hopefully some BFP's will start to roll in ...
  • @nancinator - good luck.

AFM, I'm a little concerned. The two previous months with the medications I was able to tell when I ovulated because I was in so much pain. This time I feel no pain or cramping, even the IUI was painless. You are definitely supposed to ovulate with the trigger shot, right?
  • @inthewoods23 - a 900 Folllistim pen  was $875 for me.
  • @31magnolia I would assume so. My RE has never done a US to check that ovulation occurred before doing the procedure

  • @inthewoods23 - I'm assuming I didn't ovulate before the IUI because the tech did an ultrasound to check my bladder and to also guide the IUI procedure. I would assume they would have mentioned something then, but maybe they can't see anything without a transvaginal ultrasound. I don't know maybe my body did ovulate sometime yesterday and it just wasn't painful. 11pm last night would be 48 hours after trigger and I thought I read that would be the latest you would ovulate. I did another OPK test this morning and the second line was still super dark purple. I just hope we got the timing of everything correct. This is so nerve wrecking.
  • @31magnolia maybe you didn’t feel it this month! My RE always does and ultrasound to confirm ovulation, it shows the fluid around follicle and they can tell it’s starting or started. But every doctor is different! Don’t worry to much about it
  • @ispi - Thanks. I will definitely try or else I'm going to drive myself crazy. I need something to do to take my mind off the next two weeks!
  • @31magnolia I was testing a few OPKs too and I bet it would have still been a dark positive the day after the IUI. I decided to temp this cycle and it indicates I O'ed the day before 🙁 not sure if that happened last time too. Thank God for BDing the night of the trigger!

  • @inthewoods23 - I didn't think about that (ovulating the day after the trigger). I'm just so used to being in complete pain and discomfort when ovulating, this no pain is just throwing me off. But now I can't remember if I even experienced mild discomfort and took it for something else. Anyway, we actually did BD the night of the trigger, and two days before that. We also managed to get one more in this morning (day after IUI), although by today my SO's body was like "WTH?", so hopefully we have our bases covered too! Good Luck!.
  • Well, ladies, I am out this month... AF made her grand entrance this morning. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully, next month is a great one for me!
  • @herosdaughter Sorry about AF ruining all. Keep your head up... Positive vibes your way!  :)

@inthewoods23 For Follistim, I paid $875/900IU and $291/300IU My body needed 2 vials of the 900IU to produce 18 mature follicles for IVF. How much your body needs for IUI is going to depend upon how it responds. Everyone is different.

Google "fertility pharmacy" and your city to price check, hopefully you have a few of these in your area to shop. You can go to goodrx.com, type in your zip code and pay less. If you get Gonal-F, it's the exact same as Follistim (according to the manufacturer). It's a bit cheaper and you can get manufacturer coupons to save a bit. They have like 10%-20% off a lot of the time. The same for trigger shots like Ovidrel mainly. If you have any fertility coverage whatsoever, sometimes, if they don't cover one drug, they will cover another that does the same thing (i.e., a drug that has been around longer and has been tested many times for safety). Best wishes to you, I'm always lurking all of my IF sisters <3 I hope to see you in a bmb soon!!

  • @inthewoods23 look into the vials versus pens, you get more for less! My clinic recommended just doing vials since you would get 600iu for 369, versus paying for the 900 pen at 800+!

  • @ispi - Thanks. That's good to know! I wish all REs would let you know about the vials.
  • @sarahtothea - thank you! How are you doing? How is the crafting going?
  • So I really have not posted much since my BFN on 1/17.

IUI #4 starting 1/23 - ends up being I had an active follicle (16mm) carry over from the 3rd cycle. Went back yesterday morning for E2 & P4 testing along with U/S. US showed I grew a second follicle (13mm)  both e2 and p4 levels increasing endo went up in size from 5 to 8.4. The good thing is my body is working on its own without medication. Received a call late afternoon to rush back to the RE office to obtain Gonal (FSH) pen. I injected 75iu last night and again tonight having to BD through tonight. Tomorrow morning I will be going in for another US to see their growth and possibly  trigger tomorrow morning. Tentative IUI procedure to take place this Friday.

    Beyond overwhelmed!
  • @bmaty0214 I think I had a similar situation as we started IUI #2. CD4 I already had a follicle measuring about 12mm. Went in CD12 and it was already grown to about 25mm. I ended up having the IUI almost a week earlier than I had anticipated! But I'm glad it happened early because if this cycle had followed the timing of my last IUI cycle, the IUI would have been today and today's temp high is -10F (it's currently -13F) and no way would I have wanted to venture outside today for that!

  • @bmaty0214 oh wow! That’s exciting good luck
  • @inthewoods23 yikes! Where do you live? Either way stay safe and warm!

I was juts in NYC for the weekend and experienced 21 degree weather on Monday. Can’t inagine what below zero feels like. I’m in sunny South Florida, 50’s is freezing cold for us!
  • @bmaty0214 - I also had a similar situation on CD2 I had a follicle that was 13mm. Because my estrogen level was a little updated they brought me in on CD10 instead of CD11. Good thing they did. That follicle was at 23.5 and another one was 20.9. They had me trigger that night.
  • Hey ladies.... lurking from Dec IUI board. Taking a few months off of RE but I have my fx for you ladies to get some positives this month!

Just out of curiosity - how does your insurance cover the ultrasounds? Mine does technically cover them but each time, I have a $90 copay. So just in u/s I have accumulated $360 for this month and about $360 for Decembers IUI.

Thanks @31magnolia . and I agree, that would throw me off too. I always feel my ovulation and this time is happened about 36 hours after the trigger shot and the discomfort lasted most of yesterday.

Sorry to hear that @herosdaughter. It's a downer... all the best for the next month

@31magnolia after the FSH this morning I’m at LF 19&9 RF 14&11. They had me trigger while there and back in tomorrow at 11am for IUI.

@nancinator I wish I could just pay $90! My insurance doesn’t cover anything.  we have to pay out of pocket, $315 per US.
  • @nancinator I think all of our US's have been covered. And unexpectedly it looks like our IUI procedure from December was covered too?? I just don't get insurance sometimes lol. I thought we would have to pay maybe 20% of the total cost of the US and IUI. Blood work we definitely pay for, and the meds.

  • We do not pay for IUI at all because it’s a procedure. We do pay $60 for copay/bloodwork. It still adds up fast!
  • My copay for bloodwork and ultrasounds is $30 per visit. No payment for the IUI because, like others, it is a procedure. It definitely adds up!
  • We had copay for ultrasounds not bloodwork. The copays seemed to increase after a couple of months. We had one IUI covered each month but my RE reccomended back to back IUIs every cycle so we had to pay around $350 for the second iui every month.
  • @herosdaughter The crafting was good! Well do be honest, I did a lot more drawing than anything lol. I like to go to conventions for anime, sci-fi, and video gaming and I sell my art there. So I've been trying to get a bunch of stuff together to sell ^^
