Symptoms 12/26

I’m so enjoying my late afternoon/early evening crash...not. I’m supposed to be getting things done after DD goes to sleep, right? And aren’t we supposed to have second tri energy? Where is it?!

Re: Symptoms 12/26

  • Acid reflux/heartburn has now reared it's ugly head multiple nights in a row. Looks like it's time to stock up on tums for the bedside table. One more thing on top of peeing to wake me up from a deep sleep.

  • Loading the player...
  • @angelob88 same. Zantac has been my friend lately. With DD I borrowed a friend’s wedge pillow and slept upright. I think I need to get one to use with this kid too.

Also, the peeing. In order to stay hydrated I’m *trying* to drink 80oz (and I know it should be more) or water per day. And then I pee every twenty minutes. Ugh.

Probsbly rhe worst is the pregnancy brain. I forgot to pack several things for my visit with the in laws for Christmas, including DD’s pajamas. I keep forgetting what I’m in the middle of doing, refilling my water bottle but leaving it in the kitchen, etc. I also put a bag of chicken nuggets in the fridge instead of the freezer. That kind of thing. I feel like a moron.
  • My back. It’s a total nightmare. I’ve pretty much given up on doing anything in the evenings unless I’m able to bring my regular heating pad or microwaveable heating pad. I’m miserable and so uncomfortable without it. During the day I’m mostly fine.
That’s pretty much it for me, I should count myself lucky.
  • Omg. I feel like a big baby but my feet hurt! My arches are numb to the touch and super sore from all the holiday prep and merriment. Hopefully this doesnt last long. I'm trying to spend the next couple of days lounging. Thank God it's socially acceptable to keep Christmas decor up till after the new year.

  • Insomnia hit here this week. Which you know could not have been better timing. :/sarcasm:

Also my sciatica is killing me. Yesterday was rough with all the standing/cooking/cleaning, and i moved practically half my apartment to find the leaf for my table. Super sore today.

    Still feeling endlessly exhausted too.

  • I think second tri energy is a myth they tell us to get us through the nightmare that is first tri...

My back is killing me also from sleeping on a futon at my parent's and all the activity here.  I'm hoping working out and using a heating pad tonight helps shake things out.

No heartburn here yet, but jeez the constant peeing!  I don't remember it being this bad until third trimester last time.

Hang in there ladies.  Can you believe it's almost 2019 already?!  Which means we can almost say our babes will be here "this year," instead of next.  :open_mouth:

  • @kangstadt I 110% agree with second trimester energy being a myth. This is my third and I’ve never experienced it.

@thatbaintforbetty the insomnia is killing me! I’m so exhausted all day and then I’m up till 2am. Even when I try to take a nap it takes me forever to fall asleep.

My pelvic girdle pain has been so severe that my OBGYN thought I might have spd (where your pubic bone starts to separate) Thankfully I don’t, but by 5pm I can barely walk or stand without pain. Chiropractor helps a lot but I’m going to have to start going weekly to stay sane.
  • Hey insomnia! I was wondering when you'd show up. Been up since 2:30. I'm sure work today will be fantastic.
  • @blueberrymomma I feel the same way! I don't know if it's because baby is just sitting low or if it's because I wasn't as in shape as I was with the first baby. All I know is that if I walk too much the pain gets unbearable. I don't know what to do about making it better either, I can't find stretches that help...

  • I went for a (short) run last night, and man, is it getting uncomfortable. I'm kinda of wondering if it's doing any good at this point. I've had zero back pain up until a few days ago, and both my lower back and legs were in so much discomfort! I really want to keep running, but I'm wondering if I should switch to walking. I just hate that that takes so much longer to go the same distance!
  • @HGRich I mailed half our holiday cards with the stamp on the wrong side, and another two without a stamp at all. It's rough.

My back is killing me, my legs won't stop falling asleep, I almost passed out in the kitchen last night, and I have one head on my bladder and one in my ribs so finding a way to sit that's comfy is impossible. Ugh.

Also - I've never had this before, but riiiight down my abdomen, from about my sternum down to under my belly button hurts. Like, a burning hurt. Made worse when I try to sit up or move too fast.

  • I am so glad that I’m not the only one who doesn’t have the second trimester energy. I mean, I only really want to take one nap a day now instead of two, but I don’t count that as an energy win. 100% believe it’s a myth. The more active the baby is, the more tired I am.

This week, and the past couple weeks, I’ve felt an overwhelming desire to start prepping for baby even though we don’t have a lot of stuff yet. But I don’t have the energy to accomplish everything I want. Otherwise still having some nausea holding on for dear life (I’m 24 weeks, 5 days so that’s obnoxious) and the occasional heartburn that makes me think I’m dying.
  • I'm hungry all the time but if I eat my whole meal in one sitting, my reflux acts up. I really want a piece of the pumpkin pie I made but it wont fit in my stomach so it's a few almonds instead

Also, no 2nd trimester increased energy or sex drive here.   :s
  • I have no idea if it’s because of the pregnancy or not but I’ve got a freaking rash on my hands/wrists from an allergic reaction to something. But I have no idea what.

    I am so damn itchy.

  • I feel better than I did up to 16 weeks, a little more energy but not pre-pregnancy energy. Agreed @tmblickley no increased sex drive at all that seems like an annoying lie but makes me feel kind of bad. I have this numbness in my upper left thigh since this weekend. I googled and looks like a pregnancy symptom super strange. I’ll ask about it at next doctors apt if it’s still there. Good luck everyone! Feels good to be on the count down side now!
  • @thatbaintforbetty @rennie1108  the insomnia has arrived this week for me as well. I’m powering through a long day at work and pretending like I’m not completely exhausted. 😭
  • I woke up with a stuffy nose, a headache, dehydrated, and a general sense of hangover. Throwing myself a pity party over here.
  • @lyse01, no fun.  Make yourself a cup of tea and try to lie down with a book?  That's pretty much what I'm doing today .

My hip/tailbone/sciatica pain was so bad yesterday I almost cried trying to do a few squats.  Needless to say, I just did some upper body stuff and called it quits, but man, this pain is killing me.

  • @kangstadt tea is a good idea. Tea party for us!

the headache is greatly helped by DD spending the day with dH.
  • @lyse01 ugh, that’s pretty much exactly how I woke up today, minus the stuffy nose cause I slept with a breath right strip cause I had been waking up with a stuffy nose. No fun.

I’m glad I didn’t plan to do much more then lounge on the couch today.

  • I did have the 2nd trimester energy boost, but now the 3rd trimester fatigue seems to have hit hard a week or two early. I got up this morning and an hour later felt like I could barely keep my eyes open and went back to bed.

@rennie1108 I hear you...running is way to painful for me and I miss it desperately. Do you have anywhere where you can try spinning? Pregnant or not, spinning is the only thing that ever gives me as close to as intense if a cardio workout and it’s been my workout of choice since after I would run 4 miles I basically then was on too much pelvic bavk pain to walk the next day. :(
  • What's energy? I could sleep all day every day

    Zantac is my best friend.

Wtf this kid must be another big one because I can feel her kicking my cervix and then moments later she is all up my ribs

Also, is craving alcohol a pregnancy symptom?  ;)
  • @booksandlace I think it definitely is! Earlier on in my pregnancy, I had a dream about this Gin Martini that my SIL had made me like a year before. Mind you, I drink a gin martini like once every two years (not a go-to for me), but after that dream, I craved it like crazy for MONTHS. I would get people to pour vermouth into a glass just so I could sit there and smell it! It was crazy how badly I wanted that gin martini! But also, this time of year is hard for everyone around you enjoying Christmassy drinks that look so festive and tasty. I'm definitely feeling a little jealous of the rum and eggnogs I'm missing. A glass of regular eggnog just isn't the same!
  • @booksandlace yes it is! I’ve been craving gin and tonics for months, tonic and lime isn’t the same. And in the 2nd tri I’m craving my favorite Porters and Stouts as I’m a big beer lover and snob. Can’t find any non alcohol beer around to save my life, so drank a kombucha the other night instead (definitely not the same).

  • I'm feeling fat. And I've recently found out that my boyfriend has to be in a wedding Jan 4th! Which means I have to find some dress to put my pregnant ass in. I don't do dresses as it is... Now that I'm so round, I'm gonna hate it more. So yeah, I'm really starting to feel pregnant and big.

  • @phoenix92885 try ordering a bunch from ASOS and returning what you don’t like - that’s my go-to when I need a dress for a wedding ha

I ended up in the ER for 4 hours with the same. Ended up being a strained stomach muscle. Dr prescribed rest paracetamol. Seemed to do the trick.
  • Braxton-Hicks? Maybe? Ugh how do I even tell?
  • This child is literally kicking me in the bladder right now while I'm trapped in a car for two hours... ugh, kid.  Could you at least roll over and kick up instead of making me have to pee myself?

I think I attempted my last run yesterday on New Years Day. I went about a 1/2 block before I started crying. I'm SO upset!! I don't believe to a gym and I absolutely hate spinning.....although I may need to look into it. Walking even hurts sometimes :/  I thought about swimming, but I don't want to have to buy a bathing suit, and I'm not sure how often I'd actually go. I'm feeling pretty depressed about it all. I know I need to keep exercising, but I don't know what to do for cardio.
  • My DS was sick last week and now it’s my turn! I’m exhausted, sore throat, headache, congestion and aches, and generally feeling like garbage! I hope this ends quickly!
  • @rennie1108
Another former running-addict here: definitely try stationary biking and swimming!
Overall, I find gyms to be daunting places, but when out of commission for running, I've found it really is better to face the gym than just be depressed and anxious. When I broke one of my ankles some years ago, I thought I would go mad during recovery and then I discovered the stationary bike at the gym.
Swimming seems more complicated to me still, but I've been able to find a routine in it occasionally and it is a super good cardio workout, even if you aren't very good at it.

Also, all gyms are probably doing January membership deals, so hopefully it won't be too much of a financial risk to give it a try.

@sheepshepherdess ugh I love porders and stouts and all beers that are dark! We have so many fancy and nice beers around (our biggest luxury expense by far) and I've been prone to a few sips when other people are drinking. It would be so nice to be able to just have a full glass though...
  • @mesweettea Thanks for the tips! I typically do have a gym membership, but I canceled it last year once I started going through IVF. I think I will need to join again, though. It's cheap so not a big concern. I just hate going out of my way to go there. But like you said, it's definitely better than sitting on my butt!
  • Massive headache all day. I basically just sat around and cried most of the day. I went for a walk hoping that being outside would somehow help and it just made it worse. I couldn’t get anyone to cover my shift at work either, so I went in 2 hours late and am trying to power through the pain. 1 more hour to go. 😭
  • @ysotte I hope it got better with sleep. Sounds awful!
  • My carpal tunnel syndrome is becoming worse. I mentioned it to my OB who said it's normal. She said she had it in both hands during her last pregnancy and it made cervical checks impossible with numb hands. I'm having a hard time grasping things and picking things up already. Thankfully I only have it on one side, sadly it's my dominant hand and wrist that's affected.

I've been making sounds in my sleep lately. ? I notice it because I'm half awake when I do it. Haha I can recall doing the same thing when I've been ill, but this is purely pregnancy.

DH and I were intimate recently and for the first time since my early weeks of pregnancy, it was not painful or uncomfortable! Yaaay. I hope it wasn't just a one time thing that it wasn't uncomfortable.

I have been experiencing pain at the front of my pelvis, specifically the pubis area. Also, last night I went to bed with a lower back ache and got up with a butt ache. What's that about? And why do I ache in my pubic area? I had never heard of these pains in pregnancy before. I wouldn't want to tell my friends about it, so I understand.
  • My shower does not have nearly enough hot water for the length of time (infinite) I want it hot.
  • @mighty_montgomery look up Pubic Symphasis Separation of Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction.  Everything is getting loose and your body is getting ready for a kid to come through there.  My sister had it something awful in her pregnancy and I'm starting to feel it too.

  • @lyse01 Looks like it did. I woke up with zero headache. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

@mighty_montgomery I’m having those pains as well. Thankfully it’s not all the time, but definitely not fun when it occurs.
