I think I am mentally and physically checked out for the remainder of 2018. I have little motivation to work and can't stop thinking about how lovely it would be to spend my day the couch, under a blanket, watching Netflix, and drinking hot chocolate.
@meggyme Hope you feel better soon! Being pregnant and sick really is the worst. Men can complain all they want about their "man colds" but I don't think it can compare to growing a human and fighting disease at the same time and without medication to ease your symptoms.
@meggyme hope you’re feeling better quickly. Being sick while pregnant is extra crappy since you can’t take anything and it always seems to last longer! @mayoduck I’m with you, my office is closed for renovations through Jan 7th and it is doing terrible things to my motivation.
Wednesday (post-glucose test) is my last day at work for the year and I'm keeping myself busy at work making lists for all of the things I need to do while I'm on "break." It's making the time pass and stressing me out!
I've got 1 1/2 days vacation to use before the end of the year and I just don't think I'm going to be able to take them...*sigh* I moved departments and the other 2 coworkers in this new department already made sure to get all of their days used up. Unfortunately at least 1 person needs to be in the customer service area
That gif is just the best. That's how I feel in the morning after pumping all night.
Random - after a rough morning of errands, forgetting my pumped milk, having to go back home and pump since I couldn't get mine working in the car - a local radio station was playing throwback music from the late 90, early 00's. So when I finally got on the road I was serenaded with nostalgia-inducing jams from my high school and college days, some which I haven't heard in years. It was so great to have that after a rough morning and before I got to the hospital!
@meggyme we have a storage closet that needs to be organized (if for no other reason than because there's baby stuff in there that I can't get to!); set up the nursery; sign DD1 up for shadow days at the preschool she'll be attending in the fall; rearrange my kitchen cabinets so they actually function (I have literally been throwing stuff wherever since we moved in and I can't find ANYTHING); the H and I need to decide what we're going to do about the old house (still on the market, no action whatsoever, and I'm wondering if we should just try and rent it).
Really just a bunch of random stuff, and none of it should take too long, but it's all looming over me! My in-laws will be in town pretty much the entire time I'm off, so at least this will give me a way to escape from them, if need be.
And bless all of you for being active today and allowing my addiction to the Bump distract me!
@dtspmama and easy childcare to get stuff done! Yay for grandparent babysitters! I'm totally a list maker too. Sometimes it's the only way I can sleep at night is to write stuff down and not have to sit and try and remember it all. That sucks that your house hasn't sold yet. I've never rented out a property, but we'll be faced with the same rent/sell situation this summer.

@meggyme I may put a notepad next to my bed because I'm coming up with all kinds of stuff to do every time I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night!
I'm really hoping that we'll get a bite on our house after the holidays, but I'm so stressed out about it part of me wonders if it wouldn't just be easier to rent it for awhile. Need to do some research!
@dtspmama I keep a running to do list on my phone so that I can set reminders everything from doing my timesheet to exercises to landscaping projects left half finished to paperwork that needs done. Could you talk to your realtor about how the rental market looks compared to the sales market?

@bdesterhouse a member went on to the Babie on the Brain board a few weeks back a started stirred up some major drama with some controversial and highly inaccurate statements and a whole lot of crazy (spouted off some hurtful crazy on the misscariage board as well). Then said something heinous and got the whole thread deleted. She’s back and getting called out for her previous actions.
You can also put me on the checked out list for 2018. I'm ready to be at home for a bit and try to get some things done for baby. Only random today is I am glad I am making it through my work day, because I had a really rough weekend of feeling awful.
@dtspmama our realtor informed us when we were buying that the market usually picks up heavy in the Feb thru April. People want to get moved before summer. Usually there isn't much happening in the fall and definitely not in December. In January people are starting to look again. We had a heck of a time getting into a house in July that wasn't scooped up by someone else. She said that was unusual for that to happen that late in the summer. Maybe if you can hold out until the early part of 2019, ask your realtor if they have some tricks up their sleeve to gather up interest in a house that's been listed awhile. Or there is the possibility of listing with a different realtor that is more high octane or something.
@dtspmama we actually ended up buying our house in dec/Jan (it had been on the market since Sept that year with no interest) and it made the whole process super easy since most of the market had slowed down. FX a couple like us comes along to snap it up!!
@Kenneylynn3 I guess the BumpGods didn’t want to even risk the possibility of a repeat? It’s rare for them to straight up delete a thread, this is 2 now over there! It hadn’t gotten too contentious last I’d seen it (but maybe I missed something).
Dang I missed all the fun! I never see that board but it sounded like good entertainment!
Also, in the "checked out" for the month deal. MH gave me a stuffy nose, so at least once today I hid in the back office to avoid people and don't feel guilty about it.
I agree with the market picks up starting February. I work for a builder and we haven't slowed down but resale homes even in the busy market I'm in is very slow.

Last week I was definitely checked out, but I don’t feel like I have that luxury this week. Teaching first grade the week before Christmas is no joke. 😆 We have lots of fun things going on this week, but my students behavior is less than stellar. 4 more days!
I hope that they straight up banned her this time. They know that they're not going to be able to let her keep posting, bumpies never forget. That's 2 posts of hers that have had to be deleted in 1 month.

Does anyone have a natural deodorant that they like? I currently use Arrid Dry Spray but have been meaning to switch to a more natural option. I've tried the Native sampler pack but wasn't thrilled with it and I'd rather not spend a ton of money on stuff that isn't going to work.

Boo! My last OB was notorious for this. I’d have the 830 appointment and she would walk in thru the front door at like 915.

It’s not exactly “natural” but I like the Arm and Hammer Essentials deodorant when I am pregnant/BF. It stays pretty fresh, and it has baking soda and natural stuff, with a lot fewer chemicals than your usual deodorant/antiperspirant.
@meggyme I've tried a bunch and have settled on this one, which works well for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077F4NB55/ I'm not too familiar with the Arrid Spray but looks like it is an antiperspirant, which means it contains aluminum and natural deodorants do not. If you make this type of switch, be prepared for a transition period where your body overproduces armpit sweat.
@mayoduck that's why I want to make the switch in the winter. I first started looking into it over the summer but making that switch when it's 90* and 80% humidity did not smell like a good idea.
@maggiemadeit I definitely want to go aluminum free. I guess I don't truly know the difference between Al/paraben free and "natural" I thought they were fairly synonymous.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@meggyme Definitely! I think you have the right idea there. Like I said, I tried a bunch before I found one I liked. Some natural deodorants have weird textures or just plain do nothing and of course they are all more expensive.
Put me down on the mentaly check out list. I keep forgetting that Christmas is next week and that we have to go to eat with DH family this weekend. I keep thinking its like two weeks away and was absolutely confused why people kept asking what I was bringing as a side dish.... And as far as work goes I'm physically here lol
@meggyme i use Schmidt's occasionally. It's all natural, you can find it at Target or online. i know a lot of people that like it as well. The Rose and Vanilla and Bergamont and Lime ones are faves, but they also make fragrance free if the smells are too strong for you. My transition with that wasn't bad and it definitely kept me from feeling like i was stinky.
Things I said to my husband in a sleep rage last night 'pick a way to snuggle and stick with it' 'every time you switch cuddling positions it wakes me up and it's hard to fall back asleep when I'm pregnant, and I have to work tomorrow' 'I love you and you are driving me nuts' 'sorry if I'm being mean' Luckily he was not upset this morning. He has the day off since he had to work over the weekend this week. I also asked him to clean the kitchen (which I did Sunday, + a bunch of other chores so I feel like it's his turn). He said he will but then asked what I want him to do. Uhhhh, fill the dishwasher and wash the stuff that can't go in? I fondly remember once upon a time when he didn't need this stuff spelled out for him. Hopefully I get to come home to a clean house, at least!
Eta: @meggyme I use this from my local grocery store but I haven't seen it in regular grocery chains (although I haven't looked)
I have yet to find a natural deodorant that works. What I've found is they're just not strongly scented enough for me. I need a scent strong enough to mask the sweat smell. And a chief tenant of lots of "natural" products of all types is that they have minimal scent or are unscented, and that just doesn't work for me. And I'm already someone who applies deoderant multiple times a day!
@meggyme Unfortunately, my favorite so far has been Native but you've already tried that! The coconut vanilla works well for me on a normal day but isn't great for serious stress sweat and I haven't found a good 'natural' deodorant that can actually deal with stress sweat. I've also tried Schmidt's, Tom's, and some ridiculous brand "Primal Pit Paste" but I didn't like any of them very much. They either didn't cover up odors or went on lumpy or had some other major flaw. It sounds like if you end up trying something good then you should definitely let everyone know!
@bug_hunter Tom's irks me. I tried that and it always seems like i was stinky at the end of the day. The teen version works well for my son so far though. the crazy thing is that everyone's chemistry is so different it affects how it works on you, so all you can do is try them. I thought that Schmidt's has a good scent that lasts all day, but i agree they do all have their own flaws. Honestly i went back to using Dove just bc its made for sensitive skin and worked the best for me for now.
@meggyme I have 2, one more natural than another For daily use I have Crystal (https://www.thecrystal.com/) - I get it from a local drugstore or Whole Foods. I like the pomegranate one, but I tried a few more scents before when they happened to run out. For workouts, or on hot summer days, I use SodaWax (https://sodawax.com/) - it's a local brand that I found at a fair, but they sell online as well. I have the citrus-scented one and I like it.
ETA: the first is a roll-on, the second is a stick.
@meggyme I just wanted to echo @maggiemadeit with using arm and hammer essentials. I don't think it's considered natural but I like it. Works well for me and it doesn't break the bank.
