  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    32 weeks! - squash

     2. How are you feeling?
Pretty good still other than my back! I do get winded pretty easily now though

     3. Any appointments this week?
    next week

     4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
I joined a gym this week just so I could have a decent shower! lol We've been renovating our bathroom and we've been using the basement shower and toilet. The basement shower is very old and basic and is progressively losing pressure as more water leaks out the handles rather than the showerhead!! So it's basically just a trickle of water in a cold basement - which just isn't doing it for me, so I joined a gym so I can just work out and shower there instead. It works out pretty well bc my workout space at home got taken over when DH and I combined our offices to make room for the nursery! So needless to say, I am really hoping we can get the bathroom done before February!! There's also like a million other things to do before the baby comes, and only 8 weeks left to get it all done!! On the other hand, I miss wine, kombucha, and sushi and doing simple things without my back hurting all the time, so I'm both ready and not ready for his arrival! :D I'm sure ya'll can relate!

     5. What are some Christmas shortcuts you are taking this year due to being pregnant?
Hmm, I don't think I'm taking any shortcuts, probably just spending less on everyone's presents since all of our money is going into the bathroom reno, baby stuff, and debts/savings etc.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 31, asparagus

     2. How are you feeling? Pretty good, some back soreness from sanding this weekend and bad body mechanics at work

     3. Any appointments this week? Nope

     4. Rants/ raves/ questions? Except for an absolute emergency, does everyone have a plan for when it comes time to go to the hospital? Just like the logistics of how you're getting there, contacting your SO etc

     5. What are some Christmas shortcuts you are taking this year due to being pregnant? Now that would have been a good idea haha. No short cuts here per say, unless still having boxes out from decorating counts
  • @ksdelong20 nope, not yet. We have a birth center tour on January 14th, we’ll figure that out then. I figure if I’m not home when I go into labor, or if I’m home and H isn’t, I’ll call I’m and panic no matter what. I’ll pack my hospital bag over Christmas break and leave it in the hallway, and let H know that he needs to bring it if I’m not home. Most first births are so slow anyway that I figure I’ll have plenty of warning (MIL told me she went to class with contractions lol), but in case it’s fast or something happens it’s probably good to have a plan!

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    31 weeks this Thursday. asparagus
     2. How are you feeling?
    back pain
     3. Any appointments this week?
Yesterday. Baby is weighing 5 lbs already! Doc talked about it possible him not letting me go 40 weeks, because I already had one 9 lb baby vaginally. I’m thinking in order to still go natural, I’ll eat the dates again starting 36 weeks.
     4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
I got so much prep stuff for the baby I want to do over Christmas break.

     5. What are some Christmas shortcuts you are taking this year due to being pregnant? Definitely nort cooking a Christmas dinner. I told DH we will need a different plan.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    31 weeks an asparagus!

     2. How are you feeling?
    Tired...

     3. Any appointments this week?
Had the long gd test Monday and failed 3 out of 4 but like barely! They haven't called yet which is odd. I think it's insane they had me carb load 3 days prior. I don't eat like that normally so I am wondering if that had to do with my glucose levels

     4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
Bad week. A close friend died and tgat gd test. I had a midlife crisis moment and bleached my hair blonde...

     5. What are some Christmas shortcuts you are taking this year due to being pregnant?
No, shortcuts just haven't had time to do anything! No hospital bag or carseat. Christmas show is this Saturday then I can prep.
  • @ksdelong20 If its daytime I’ll call DH. Last time at 1 am my water broke, so I just woke DH up. I’ve actually been working more on someone being available for my toddler if it is another 1 am wake up.
  • @ksdelong20 not super worried as my husband is pretty easily accessible from work. And if he isn't answering, it's an under 5 min drive from our house lol. I will be getting off work myself quite early thanks to using up holiday time prior to mat leave so I expect I'm most likely to be home!
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
    31 weeks, asparagus (wtf?)
     2. How are you feeling?
    Tired and emotional.
     3. Any appointments this week?
Tuesday, with a different OB because mine's on holiday.
     4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
    None.
     5. What are some Christmas shortcuts you are taking this year due to being pregnant?
Cutting our travels short a bit but otherwise nothing much. Christmas is always pretty low key for us.

@ksdelong20 good question. If it happens while DH is in training we kind of need to figure out at what point do we take it seriously and get him back here. Once he's home, he's a quick call away and he better get his ass home asap! If my waters break and it's time to go to the hospital without warning, he can meet me there.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend @glitterbug6
  • @wrensnest nooo not Norovirus! Stomach sickness is the worst, hope you're feeling better soon.
  • @disneybaby84 Did you eat dates with your last pregnancy? If so, what was your experience?
I was planning to start eating them at 35 weeks and I'm already drinking red raspberry leaf tea! My original due date based on my LMP was 2/13, but at my first ultrasound he was measuring a week ahead, so they bumped my due date up to 2/6. I don't think he's actually a week older, I just think he's probably a big baby?? DH was an 8lb baby, so I'm afraid our son will be big too! I'm gonna try to have a natural birth so I'm doing everything I can to make it easier!!
  • @eliseirene31613 I did eat dates with my last pregnancy. I ate 6 a day starting at 36 weeks. At 1 am when I reached 39 weeks, my water broke in the middle of the night. I strongly believe my water spontaneously broke because I was eating the dates, simply because most things you read are that it is actually not very common for a person's water to break spontaneously especially before starting contractions.
  • @disneybaby84 did you have a short labor? Do you think it would be a bad idea to start at 35 weeks? I don't want him to come too soon if he's not ready, ya know! Maybe it's not necessary to start eating them early, maybe I'll just start at 36wks.

@eliseirene31613 dates don’t induce labor (nothing does besides medication specifically for that, like pitocin), but they’re said to soften the cervix to make for a faster/easier labor once it does start. It’s safe to eat dates at any point in pregnancy!

  • @grebretso cool, maybe I'll start eating them even earlier, but starting with like 1 or 2 a day and work my way up to 6! I know they have a lot of sugar though, so that's probably why they suggest starting at 36wks!
  • Yup! That's where I found out about eating dates (and RRL tea)! I first read it in her book and then I wanted to look into it more. I love her book and blog, she's totally turning me into a semi-crunchy mom lol! I'm not eating the placenta or anything, but I am looking into cloth diapering! :D
  • @eliseirene31613 so I’m the preventage of women that got spontaneous water breaking, but not the short labor. But it was my first birth. Hoping that for the second birth, i can get more benefits.
