Toddlers who lie unnecessarily! Anyone else?

A few weeks ago, My daughter of age 2.5 broke 2 plates in the kitchen ( thank god she didn't hurt herself ). I remember keeping the plates in the middle of the table , so I asked her how it broke, she said that they rolled down the table by themselves, also it was the first time she ever lied to me, I didn't think it was a big deal so I ignored and ever since that incident, she has been lying to me constantly. For example, lying to me about washing her hands, cleaning up her toys, etc.... Any advise on how I must tell her that I know she has been lying to me and how am I supposed to stop this behavior?

  • I think it's better to prevent it. Otherwise, the child might think it's okay to keep doing it. Tell her what you know about lying, but don't punish her, don't yell at her. Tell her not to do it again.
