I got my first box of second hand baby clothes for free today... come to mama and keep em coming! There was some good shit in there.. 4 or 5 swaddles and unisex clothes oh plus a few things that might just fit me. Score!!
@ohsunnydays I started iron about three weeks ago. I feel amazing with them, like a totally different person, but I'm lucky if I poop twice a week, and it's always a chore. Ugh
Actually not complaining this time and instead feeling good about something...
One of my dad’s life insurance policy’s paperwork came in for my mom last week and she opened it today to find clear, simple instructions on completing it AND a check for a portion of the policy as a forward. This gives her a huge sense of relief as everything starts to come together financially (since bills don’t wait) and I am so very happy and thankful for it. It’s equally feel-good because one of my sisters is a huge pain in the ass who made a big stink about how I was messing everything up and getting ahead of the game by notifying places before having a death certificate in hand.
Also showered, did glucose screen, did maternity tour and ate a little so easily the most functional day I’ve had in over a week.
That's encouraging @lzzfrancisco !! I've been lucky that I have been feeling well, so now I'm wondering if these iron pills will make me feel like superwoman?! LOL. Need to figure out way to increase fiber...
I have been taking iron my whole pregnancy with no constipation. But 1) only 10-20mg a day and 2) specifically the brand Florinex, which is made for pregnancy and has a bunch of greens/herbs in it like spirulina and spinach etc, helps with absorption and also staying regular is my guess. Highly recommend... Or at least, will highly recommend pending the results of my most recent blood work. But I don't feel like I've been hit by a truck anymore... Unless I miss a couple doses.
I’ve randomly been up since 5:30, thx DST ending. It’s 6am now here and my polling place is literally a block away, so I guess I will go make myself productive!
This is why I’m getting IV iron - not only do I get all of the side effects, but my body doesn’t even absorb it so it’s not worth it and is probably causing more harm than good. I’ve got #3 of this series today, thankfully. I could use the downtime.
Waiting for my OB to come see me. Would it be frowned upon to take a nap while I wait? We’re still recovering from DST and have been up at 4:30 for the past 3 days.
Funny story... I've fallen asleep on the OR table after both of my kids are born. Once I hear the baby cry, I fall right to sleep. Best part is that we have photographic proof of my naps from both births so I can't even deny it. Last "good" sleep I get for months.
DH and I went away for the weekend and got back last night and came home to a sick DS. He was pretty much up all night coughing. He slept in his bed for like 2 hours then was in our bed the rest of the night. I’m pretty sure I maybe slept like an hour. Luckily I don’t work today so we are just laying around but I work the next 2 days so I really need some sleep tonight! Poor kid has been sick on and off since he started preschool in August and I’m so over it and I know he is!
@dcaron10 those germs after kids start school are the worst! I swear DD was sick for a solid year after starting daycare at 18 months!!
at work today and my mom called that our dog got out of the yard and is running wild. My mom was trying to find her but DD was home taking a nap. Finally someone in the neighborhood was able to get her. Now I’m pretty sure my moms at home killing the dog- not really but she’s beyond mad. Oops
DS was asymptomatic this morning but was sent home with what is likely hand foot and mouth disease He’s miserable but I finally got him to sleep. And he’s already had it once. I’m just hoping no one else (ahem, me) catches it
@jessier19 it's amazing how dense college students can be! I made a joke in class last week about not keeping too much Halloween chocolate in the house with a pregnant lady and they looked confused so I said "the pregnant lady is me" and they all were like "ohhhhhh." Because they are sweet and overly into being politically correct they didn't say anything except for congrats after class but I couldn't believe it, I mean I have gained over 20 pounds, all in the belly!
@nursemom913 - I better not! I’ve had it 3 times in 30 years. Both kids have now had it twice.
Confirmed HFM and it’s presenting worse than last time so it’s going to be a super fun week here... He’s super snuggly and is still in pretty good spirits - long snuggles at 2.5 are few and far between.
@becks_726 - I have no idea what they mean. Could be solid white onesies to go under things? IDK.
@hannahbananas11 that is the WORST! I HATE it when people point out my face redness. I used to blush very easily as a child on top of a red face. As a pre-teen, I asked my pediatrician about how to control it and she laughed at me (NOT helpful....). As an adult I just have a very red face. I wear lots of color-correcting face primer daily. And, I always correct my students and say "WE DO NOT COMMENT ON WHAT PEOPLE'S FACES LOOK LIKE!!" if they point out someone else's face coloring. (I'm in a mood today LOL)
So I'm out of town for 2 more days and it looks like my sore throat might be strep. I'm freaking out about what to do. Got a call into the OB on call which is thankfully my doctor.
One of my cats is still sick a week after the emerg vet trip. Got home from her vet appt at 1am last night.. had to take her back this am for monitoring... ughhh. Theyre not sure the problem but shes staying overnight for observation. When it rains it pours!
@bellebaby221 Oh no! I've had strep throat many times in my life and it sucks. From a quick search with Dr. Google (in case you're wisely avoiding Dr. Google at the moment) it appears that it's not a huge threat to LO, mainly just uncomfortable for you. They usually treat it with penicillin or other antibiotics which are safe to use in pregnancy if you follow the doctor's prescribed dosage. Luckily, it's quick to diagnose with a simple throat swab, and once you're on antibiotics it usually resolves very quickly. Feel better, and keep us updated on how you're doing!

@megpants209 that's good to hear!!
My DS is seemingly incapable of sleeping past 5 am. My H rolled over and said “will we ever sleep past 5 am again?” And I said “sure. In 18 years”.

What's a onesie, if not one of the two other things listed? I'm confused...

Random student just walked up to me (I'm sitting at the circulation desk) and says "Are you feeling okay? Your face is really red."
I used to blush very easily as a child on top of a red face. As a pre-teen, I asked my pediatrician about how to control it and she laughed at me (NOT helpful....).
