  • Growth ultrasound/BPP tomorrow at 10:00 AM. Last growth scan looked good. Baby was in 42nd percentile (which is typical of my kids), fluid level and cervix looked good. Slightly low BP through the umbilical cord was noted but OB said he was not worried. They'll double check it tomorrow though. I'm excited to see baby again - FX everything still looks good!

  • @tosh24 I used to love BPPs with DS#1 because it was fun to just sit and watch him move all over the place.  I'm sad I haven't had one this go round.

I have my next biweekly check Monday and hoping for another uneventful update.
  • November 13th, which puts me at three weeks between appointments instead of two. They must be in vacation season or something.
The pregnancy is flying by, though I kind of ( like really) wish it was already over.
  • Growth scan and regular OB appointment tomorrow. I’m every two weeks now so I’ll have another on the 16th and the 30th. I’m scheduled for all of remaining appointments. Home stretch!

I had my appointment this morning, and all was well! As I thought, I don’t yet begin bi-weekly appointments— my next is in another 4 weeks at 32 weeks. I’m fairly certain that after that I go another 4 weeks to 36 then go biweekly, not weekly, if things are going well. It’s so funny to me how different things can be between practices.

because of my high BP issues last pregnancy, there was apparently a note in my file saying I need a growth scan at 32 weeks. Due to scheduling with the ultrasound department, I’ll actually go at 31 weeks, so that is my next appointment. BP was really, really good today though!

also filled out my birth plan at the appointment and left it with them. Scheduled with the midwife again for 32 weeks, rather than my OB (today’s appointment was with one of the MWs as well).

  • Oh! I also got my kick count card, so I guess it is time to start doing those daily. Can be kinda tough with the anterior placenta, so I really need to pay attention to and remember what time of day he is most consistently active!

  • @MrsDho11 Kick counts make sense if you can't always feel baby easily. I haven't bothered with it at all because this baby only naps for a while in mid morning, and a bit after lunch... Then a bit before dinner. Other than that, baby is definitely awake and cruising!
  • @MrsDho11 What is a kick count card? I know what kick counts are, but have only ever tracked them sporadically with an app.

  • @MrsDho11, I’m in the same position re: kick counts with the anterior placenta. I have figured out that drinking something cold tends to get me movements I can feel, though unfortunately not always. It can be frustrating!

Yes! Thankfully I had an anterior placenta with DD too, so I don’t find it all that stressful. Usually something cold or even just timing it after a meal gets baby boy moving and grooving  in there!

  • @MrsDho11 So interesting how different doctors/practices give different advice. My OB said not to waste time with kick counts if I am feeling baby regularly and to only do them if I notice that I've gone a couple of hours or so without feeling anything. I'm definitely trying to keep tuned in throughout the day, but I'm not doing kick counts every day.

  • Had a frustrating appointment this afternoon. Was told I’m likely dealing with IBS, have bacterial vaginitis AND a yeast infection, and I got a referral for physical therapy for all the issues I’ve been having with my pevlis/hip pain. Doctor had nothing to offer for possible IBS but gave me a script for antibiotics and a cream for my itchy vag.  :s I don’t have high hopes for physical therapy fixing my unstable-feeling pelvis any time soon but I guess we’ll see. Also got my flu shot and t-dap shots.
On top of everything, I also have a head cold.
Finally starting bi-weekly appointments so I go back in a couple weeks.

Yes, my doc doesn’t really care unless there’s an issue and I’m concerned. I think it’s more just Kaiser policy that they hand them out still.

My OB said something similar. I did a few kick counts to establish a baseline and was getting 15+ kicks in 10 minutes at hits most active time of the evening.

Movement has seemed much slower the last 6-8 hours though, which of course has me up worrying at 3am. I'm hoping it's just because my schedule was so different yesterday, as I left work early for a chiro appointment, then finished up a work assignment in my home office between 7-10 PM rather than vegging on the couch as usual. Thankfully I have an OB appointment tomorrow morning, so hopefully that will show everything is ok.

  • @jandd2014 Aw, I'm sorry. That's the worst! Hope you feel better soon.
  • @jandd2014 I sympathize -- I've been having a pretty bad flare up of my IBD for a few months, and there is *nothing* they can do for it while I'm pregnant. I take immodium and diglesis (one for diarrhea, one for nausea), and that's about all they got. FX that the antibiotics at least help with the infection! And give PT a chance -- I did it for 6 months for a knee injury and while some days I thought it was total BS, it really did make 100% difference.

  • I had my regular OB this week after my fall and L&D visit last week. Boys look good, but baby A has flipped from head down to breech.  He gets 4 weeks to turn back around before they schedule a csection.

We see the urologist on 11/14 for baby B's kidney, then high risk on 11/15 for growth.

  • Uneventful 30 week appointment today. Gained only 1 1/2 lbs in 3 weeks but I lost 6 lbs due to the stomach flu so my dr wasn’t concerned. My BP is still great, so hopefully looking towards a non-induced birth!
  • Going back 11/13 for both a regular OB appointment and for an anesthesiologist consult. Not much other than that
  • Going to see the midwife on Tuesday to check in after being sent to L&D for monitoring at my appointment on 10/31. My blood pressure was high and I had vision issues so they wanted to check for preeclampsia. They’re having me do a 24 hour urine collection Monday, so that’s fun... :/

  • @jandd2014 I have had success with a low-FODMAP diet for IBS. It's tough in the beginning, but I was able to narrow down the foods that cause problems for me.

  • Appointment today as well. I asked about the hernia repair and tearing sensations I felt. He said it's definitely possible the internal scar tissue tore and it might fail. Which would result in surgery. :(
I also got the tdap and they checked my iron. Which was fine.
Baby aspirin until 36 weeks and I made absolutely sure I asked about episiotomies. I 1000% dont want them to cut me. My old doctor was against them and I only tore a tiny bit. I do not want anyone near me with a scalpel unless i have to have a csection. He said make sure I tell them but it's not a routine procedure so I shouldn't worry.

  • @jannd2014 gosh I’m so sorry you’re dealing with these issues. Glad you at least got an rx for the vaginal infections. Agree with @pttomato regarding low FODMAPS, that has helped me in the past and could be worth a shot. It’s so hard not being able to take anything though. Hang in there and get some rest for that cold.

I’ve just got a couple of routine appts this month (biweekly now!). Also have a second meeting with the doula right after Thanksgiving :) I really should schedule another appt with the counselor for pre and PPD/PPA but haven’t got around to it and feel guilty for missing so much work for all my appts. Also signed up for a breastfeeding class at the hospital for next week.
  • @pttomato @merostomata I have IBS-C and low-FODMAP diet has helped when I follow it. I don't do well on following it, but I've learned which items effect me the most. Apples, watermelon, garlic, onion, wheat spaghetti (I need to use brown rice spaghetti), honey...I need to stay away from these, as well as some others, but it's hard when I dream about eating apples all day. I've basically been SO bloated every day.

  • @pttomato yay!!!
I had my 28 week appointment yesterday. GTT and I passed. It was pretty uneventful, heart beat was good and we discussed the hospital as well as a small birth plan. Next appointment is the 21st and we are doing the 4d ultrasound mainly because my husband wants to. I am not thrilled about the price especially since this kid likes to lay horizontal and hasn’t shown her face the last two times we had an ultrasound

  • Best news ever!!! @pttomato
  • Had an appointment this morning for my glucose test. I won’t know for a few days if I passed or not. I also had an ultrasound so they could try to get the shot of baby’s spine that he’s been stubborn to show the last 2 times.

Good news: they could see all of his spine, and it looks fine. He’s now head down.

Not good news: there’s an enlarged ventricle in baby’s brain. It could be a normal variance or it could be a sign of something like hydrocephalus. I’ll be seeing a MFM specialist to get that checked out.
