@hannahbananas11 that sounds serious to me! I would have also assumed that they are courting you, not the other way around. How do you feel about that move?
@bhouI use EOs. Full disclaimer, even when not pregnant, I didn't ingest EOs. I diffuse and would use some topically. As much as I believe in EOs and the brand that I use, I cut back how much I use them. We had trouble getting pregnant and I'm still terrified I'll mess something up, so I'm being really cautious. Everyone has a different philosophy about oils in pregnancy. Do you have any resources to consult, like Gentle Babies? Now, full disclaimer that I use TONS of oregano when cooking, lol, but as I'm sure you know EOs are very strong. ;-) I have a tickle of something in my throat, and today I focused on getting probiotics and making sure I took my vitamin D supplement, instead. I might diffuse something at night to help.
@madreofdragons He's so optimistic! Definitely add an hour. At least.
I'm glad that y'all are reading into this job interview the same way I am. I'm really hopeful for it, because it checks off a lot of the things we're both looking for: small town, good work/life balance at the clinic, and really great hiking nearby (since our main recreation is running and hiking/camping). The only major downside at the moment: the nearest Target is over TWO HOURS away. Target will basically become a pilgrimage destination should we end up living there. I also just want this job search to be done already. It's stressful when his current job (residency) is wrapping up and there's nothing yet to rely on as the next step. It's almost like driving up a huge hill and not knowing what's on the other side, but you also can't turn the car around. I feel like once he's landed a job, I'll be able to jump fully into baby planning, since we'll be able to know what our lives will look like after July.
DH’s cousin had her baby today (super quick 4 hour induction) and I get to get some newborn snuggles tomorrow!! 6 lbs 11 Oz. So tiny compared to the giant 10 lb babies I birth
@hannahbananas11 another vote for that email being signs of serious interest from that clinic! Hope you have a great trip and all goes well! I can imagine how stressful having that big unknown hanging out there especially while trying to plan for a baby.
It was a wild afternoon at my oldest’s school... Some idiot stole a car, ran from police at a traffic stop, and then crashed the car into the woods past the s occer field at her school. He then fled on foot through the woods which caused a shelter in place right at dismissal time.
It was insane. Principal was running around the building like a SWAT team member looking for him (parents spotted him around back). It was honestly like a scene from a movie and felt so surreal. Once they lifted the lockdown (20 mins after normal dismissal - so 40 mins after the issue started) and opened the school doors for dismissal, many kiddos came out scared and sobbing. I know the teachers and staff did exactly what they should have given the situation and did the best they could to keep the kids calm but man, it was a tense 40 mins standing outside of the school waiting.
@danixbanani24 & @hannahbananas11 - They did catch the guy about 2 hours after it all started and about 3 blocks from the school.
My daughter (1st grade) was okay considering. She said she was freaked out and couldn’t understand why people make “bad choices”. She said to me “but if people’s moms and dads teach them how to make good choices, why do people not listen?” It was so naively sweet and gut wrenching.
@okayestmom12 oh my goodness that is scary and crazy! Glad they got the guy and no one was hurt in the process.
Your daugher’s response is so sweet. Too bad we all can’t keep that innocence. Unfortunately not everyone gets great parents or great examples to teach and follow in their lives (like you obviously are given your daughter’s response).
I did some organizing last night in the form of updating the registry on amazon prime, and making my ikea shopping list for this weekend.. I feel so much better! Mission buy the crib, mattress and a few other things tomorrow
Our plans for an overnight away and shopping trip (including Ikea) were foiled by DH's employer. He graduates on a Thursday and we foolishly thought he would be reporting back on the Monday. Nope, Friday. I sobbed.
Eta: please report back on your shopping @cass06_07! Our Ikea trip is for a crib, dresser and side table and lots of smaller things.
@hannahbananas11 Good luck with the move in July! Sounds like they definitely want him.
A friend from college who is a surgeon finished his residency and recently moved to Alaska with his wife and 1 year old. Just saw the trick or treating photo on FB and there was definitely snow!
Sounds like the perfect spot for you to set up roots, especially since it sounds like you’re both outdoorsy.
Just bought this adorable little set from posh peanut. Have I bought anything else that I need like a double stroller, infant car seat, or bassinet? No of course not lol
@danixbanani24- At least you've bought SOMETHING! The app tells me this baby is coming in 14 weeks and 3 days but it doesn't know I am getting induced a week early, soooo THIRTEEN WEEKS, holy frack. I texted that to SO and his sarcastic response was priceless: "Do we need to do anything??" Haha. We are soooo behind.
Ughhh haven’t even thought about what I need for this baby. I mean realistically if she popped out early we have the essentials - just need diapers - but I know there are things I want to get like a double stroller and girly crib stuff and blankies for her. But she has a place to sleep and clothes and a car seat. Lol maybe I should feel a little more urgency
@BourbonBiscuits I’m the same way. Have nothing ready. youre ahead of me. I don’t even have the bassinets yet. No diapers. I have clothes all washed and hung up but thats all. The nursery hasnt even been started.
@hannahbananas11 oo Alaska sounds amazing! Fingers crossed for you!
@okayestmom12 gosh thats scary! I’m glad everything turned out ok and they caught the guy!
If I'm completely honest though. By the looks of it, Staff and Ken would probably prioritize amazing, top notch dental care for my kid, who will most definitely need braces at some point.

Getting caught up on everything. Hubby and I are in Orlando for a wedding and baby moon. DD is on her own vacation with grandma, so we're soaking up every minute kid free for this weekend!
I am having mega mom guilt. We found a more affordable daycare for my son (seriously, $500/month less), which seems totally good quality, but I am feeling such guilt about moving him because he's a really relational, attached kid, and he loves his teachers, his school, his friends there. I mean, he's only 2, so he's going to forget them soon right? Except we drive right by his current school all the time and he always points it out. The new place is also more old school preschool, plastic toys and less open space, whereas he's been at this really lovely Montessori, so I feel like I am downgrading him or something, which maybe I am. And of course we are moving him a month before we have the baby because we did not get our crap together on this months ago like we should have, so the timing is not good. Financially, we have no choice, but dang the mom guilt is intense. I am pre-sad for him.
@sjnsjnsjn Totally get the mom guilt, but he'll be fine! I moved around a lot as a kid and had to change schools four times by the time I was seven. It was a little sad each time, but I bounced back and made new friends fast, because that's what kids do! He'll do great and make lots of friends. Plus, there's nothing wrong with plastic toys.

Well shit. I finally caught up on randoms and have missed a LOT this week and last.
@megpants209 I'm so sorry for your tragic loss. I can't imagine how devastating that is to you and your family. Sending you much love and strength while you are making arrangements and dealing with all this.
@danixbanani24 I hope your DH gets his head out of his ass. I know it's common for men to not think in general, let alone not empathize, but that is no excuse. I wonder if he realizes how selfish he sounds. Sorry you are having to put up with his asshattery. I know you have also suffered losses recently in your family so I hope you're doing ok.
@cmjenkies my heart breaks for you. I am SO angry at your H for being so selfish and stupid. I'm really proud of you for being so classy and mature about the situation. You are so strong! Another reason why it may be wise to not report to his work: unfortunately you are going to still have to deal with him for life for your kids' sake. Tattling on him now will make it much less likely for him to come forward to you with any future confessions. He sure broke your trust in him, but breaking his trust in you might only make things worse. I'm so deeply sorry for all the pain and stress you are now having to go through because of HIS fuck-ups. Life can really suck ass. I'm sending you so much love during this difficult time
Do y'all think it's a good idea to have a post for maternity/baby deals/sales? I know that would really help me.
I'm squeezing into my too small maternity clothes but I'm going to need to buy some that fit before I bust out. It kills me to have to buy clothes for only a few months of wear but I'm only going to get bigger and apparently not wearing any clothes in public is frowned upon.
@sjnsjnsjn I totally understand the guilt! We moved DD to a preschool from a daycare in sept (2.5yrs old) but she was only at her daycare since January. But she bounced back well. Shes also one who does nottttt like change. Like I feel she may be ocd because she notices everything even if you move it an inch. And wants you to put it back. Also my cousin moved her little guy at age 3 from a montisorri to a regular daycare in sept when he was three and hes doing well. He had a few rough adjustment weeks but is great now. I was super guilty too but turns out shes way happier here ! So you never know.
