I didn’t really do a big announcement at work, so plenty of people there don’t know. One of my coworkers walked into the break room while I was making tea and was clearly side-eyeing my bump  I moved my scarf and patted my bump and shared. It was just too funny, because she was clearly wondering, but didn’t want to ask.

Today I went to target for storage bins/drawers for my cleaning/nesting (and gosh it is taking longer than I want it to!) and I couldn't stop myself from buying some cute newborn clothes! Oops!

This is another random share, but all the mentions of being "halfway there" are causing me dread.  In my experience, the third trimester lasts FOREVER.  I honestly feel like I'm only "one third of the way there" because the first few weeks of pregnancy don't really count and the next 23 weeks are looming in front of me... Thank goodness for distractions!

@keikilove I totally agree, especially if you have a “late” baby, the end really drags on. Unfortunately today my 21 week bump looks more like 3/4 of the way there! I am suddenly HUGE

@keikilove @maggiemadeit I agree with both of you!  I walked into a colleague's office the other day and he said "are you ever not pregnant?"  and I thought "I'm only half way, how far along does he think I am AND how big am I going to be when this is all done?!  YIKES!

@keikilove It does seem really odd to say we're 'halfway there' when the first month doesn't even seem like it should count!

MH kept telling me yesterday how pregnant I looked and I was like, "I am a FTM with 19 weeks(ish) still to go! I can't look *that* pregnant; this little bump is just getting started!"

My husband told me Sunday that I can no longer hide the pregnancy from our friends, my bump officially no longer looks like I'm just getting fatter. I had hoped I could hide the pregnancy from our friends the whole time and they would just think I'd gained weight if they ran into us somewhere, ha wishful thinking on my part. We are usually a family that goes into hiding during the winter months, we hate cold weather, so I thought it would be easy. 

I told my co workers this morning about the baby being a girl. I'll be the only female on my team with a girl. The girls on my team all have two boys each, and the gal who is pregnant a month before me is pregnant with her second boy so they were placing bets on if we'd get jinxed by them and have our second boy since they all knew my son and I were hoping for a girl.

@bdesterhouse lol! That sounds like me. I wasn’t necessarily trying to hide it until the very end, but at least a few more weeks. Nopers.

@keikilove I couldn't agree more. The last half really drags on. With all of my extra fluid, I look way further along than I am. I'm already getting tired of well-meaning people at church and DD's school telling me how I've got a loooong winter ahead. Yeah. Thanks for reminding me, folks!

Random, but I just got done reading the invitation thread for lurkers. And was finding it a tad humorous that only one "lurker" has thus far posted! Boy did that thread take a turn!

@Lbloom yeah, that immediately turned into a dumpster fire. The only lurker turned right around and took a dump on the invite. Thanks for trying though @keikilove.

@keikilove agreed. Since i started out bigger i look a lot bigger than i am. I am tired of family members telling me "there's more than one in here"...."what are you going to do in January"...etc....look.I know i look big...i got HUGE with my first...so i already knew it was coming..but definitely don't need the comments. Sheesh. At least my SO is sweet about it. i said i looked like a bubble last week and he said "a beautiful bubble"...LOL!

I feel like it's cheating to call 20 weeks halfway when you don't find out you're pregnant until like 5 weeks.

I’m LOLing at all the “20 weeks (does not) equal halfway remarks”. MH expressed the same thoughts when I turned 20 weeks and I had a full on, trantrum like meltdown . I don’t know if it was the hormones or what, but my reaction was completely ridiculous and unexpected. I think I wanted to celebrate the milestone and took his harmless inquiry as raining on my parade. My mature response? To refuse to celebrate and instead go to bed early and give him the silent treatment. I hope I grow up by the time a real baby joins our family y’all 🤣

Lol! @navete I would probably react the same way. I am very much celebrating the “halfway” point and I’m only 19+ a few days.

I totally get the comments about it not quite feeling like "halfway," and you're right, but I have to say, as an IF and PGAL mom, the first trimester for me is SO. IMPOSSIBLY. LONG.  Each day feels like a week and I feel like I can't fully relax or catch my breath until the 12 week scan. I also tested super early and got a bfp at 10 days post ovulation, so this time around I already feel like I've been pregnant forever I'm with @navete, I basically want a full-on parade to celebrate having made it halfway

Speaking of parades, holy cow did that lurker thread rain on mine! It made my heart sink to think that there might be a ton of lurkers out there rolling their eyes, belittling and judging me and all the others who post here. Ouch.

@laur84ns unfortunately that’s the problem with public forums. You don’t even have to be a member of the forum to see posts. That’s why most boards eventually move to a more private venue.

@laur84ns - I can totally see why you celebrate that halfway mark! That's so awesome and I am glad you are able to relax more.
I'm more the opposite, I begin to sweat more in the 3rd tri!

@laur84ns I am also an IF and PGAL mom so I felt the same way about the first trimester! I know I didn't *know* I was pregnant until I was 3w4d but of course I thought about it the whole cycle. My husband and I couldn't agree on when to celebrate the end of the trimester- 12w? 13w? 14w? 13w6d? It ended up being a legit fight (I was the one that wanted to wait til 14w, to play it "safe" and he felt like I burst his bubble, and so I got mad at him being bummed because pregnancy. But then I felt like a jerk so we celebrated the next day, on 13w1d). Anyway, now I can't wait for 20w

Im one of those people who doesn’t have a baby til after 41 weeks. So yay for “halfway” but I fully know that I have 21 weeks left at 20w5d lol 

And that thread turned into a sh*tshow for no other reason than one person felt like we were cliquey. I don’t see that at all. Cliquey was my D14 board. We were dubbed at the time “the meanest b*tches on the bump” and would have regular drive-by MUD trolls. I still talk to a large bunch of them today and our babies are about to be 4. They are some of my best friends in the whole world and I haven’t even met them all. If it seems cliquey here it’s because we have different weekly check-ins and other sub groups where people of like circumstances can talk without bogging down other threads. I really don’t see what’s wrong with that. Working moms and I have nothing in common. I don’t feel a need to read their thoughts on working and being KU because it has no bearing on my life. It was a nice gesture that got blown waaaayyyy outta proportion. Also, please don’t leave me with these crazies when y’all leave for FB I swear I’m a good friend

@mamakate1616 I feel like Alexa would counteract my parenting choices. Like when I tell DD she can't watch Daniel Tiger Alexa would be like "okay, which one?" I feel like it'd be like having an eager grandparent in the house 24/7. Also they creep me out how they're always listening.

AFM, I think I'm getting sick. Woke up with a sore throat. Honey in my yogurt and hot coffee helped but I've also got a runny nose and a headache. And an out of town wedding to go to sober.

Also, how did people even parent before Daniel Tiger? I use those little songs/jingles to get my daughter to do stuff all the time. I could kiss the person who created that show!

@maggiemadeit I love Daniel Tiger too. MH hates it for some reason. It's considerably less annoying than most shows and it actually fosters emotional intelligence! I showed her an old Mr. Roger's Neighborhood show one time and she wasn't as impressed, but I liked how low technology and not overstimulating it was. Unlike any show on Disney. I just love PBS in general.

I delurked from the lurker thread (or whatever it turned into) so trying to jump in elsewhere. 

I will celebrate 20 weeks as the halfway mark for sure! Though my first pregnancy only made it to 34 weeks so I can only hope to experience true 3rd tri misery this time around.

I was actually wondering if there would be any interest in a high risk check in? I dont know how many others are having extra monitoring and such but thought it might be nice?

@meggyme sober weddings are the worst. I like to think I dont have to drink to have fun, but it turns out at a wedding I do!

@lemieuxk yeah, good wedding food only gets you so far. Luckily this wedding will probably be a really good one and I have another prego to hang with.

@meggyme I was at a wedding at 18wks recovering from a sinus infection. I had a lot of cranberry tonics trying to pretend they were alcoholic lol but still managed to have fun. Hope you can have some fun too!

@meggyme ugh, feel better! Being sober while everyone else is drinking can be such a bummer and I can't imagine when you add an extra layer of fighting a cold. Feel better!

@lemieuxk I know there are quite a few ladies who are getting extra monitoring and/or are labeled high risk, so you’d probably get a good response to a high risk check in thread. Hoping you get the full 40+ week experience this time!

 I’m also a huge fan of PBS programming. DS loves just about everything they have, and I like that there aren’t a bunch of toy/junk food commercials!

@meggyme @maggiemadeit My mom and I were singing Daniel Tiger songs to each other last night. DD looked at us like we were crazy. They are so easy to get stuck in your head!

Cute story for all the Daniel Tiger fans:

I was away on a work trip for 10 days in September. My husband was feeling a little down while I was gone, and my daughter sang him a DT song, “it’s okay to feel sad sometimes, little by little, you’ll feel better again”, and he said he got so choked up he had to leave the room 

Talk about emotional intelligence!

DS loves PBS, especially Odd Squad right now. I love that there aren't any commercials, too! No begging for stuff he doesn't need. 

Add my to the sober wedding club for this weekend. It's at a brewery, so I'm really hoping there are some mocktail options and not just choosing between 5 types of beer or water.

@lindseyb918 there's a lot of breweries in our area that we used to frequent and I've been avoiding any event there for the same reason. At least at a wine bar I can usually get a soda or mocktail. Hopefully with it being a wedding they'll have a few more options.
