i had big plans to clean my house this morning, but I spent most of it in bed instead. I did manage to sort the laundry and start a load. Is it the second trimester yet?
We went grocery shopping this morning and I nearly threw up in the frozen food aisle. Almost nothing sounds appetizing, so grocery shopping when everything sounds awful is way worse than I thought it would be. The only things I found that were appealing were hard salami and a Knorr cheesy broccoli rice packet.
We’re going to a bday party today for DS’s “girlfriend”. They seriously adore each other. I can’t wait to see how excited he gets when we show up! We’re also going to look at Halloween costumes because there’s nothing like waiting until the last minute! Haha

I'm still waiting to hear back about that house. I've sent her my application and pay stubs and it's just been silence from her end. She said she had showings this weekend and will be making a decision this coming week, but I'm so nervous. Literally nothing else has come available that's that nice and in our price range.
We're going to today to explore Costco since I was in a bit of a rush yesterday.
Grocery shopping is a huge no no for me the days. This is despite the asthma. Nausea is too much to handle. @eatinwatermelonseeds I hope you get this house! Good luck!
Went to Target this morning to get food for DD and anti-nausea supplies for me. Almost puked in the aisle, had to break open the preggie pops before the checkout. Got home and took an hour nap at 10 am because the trip exhausted me. Now we are watching football and I’m praying DD goes down for a 2nd nap so I can nap again as well. DH and I are discussing going out for a family pizza night with DD. I can’t decide if that sounds wonderful or horrible.
Slept til 8. Nap at noon. Bit of leftover ice cream cake from DD’s birthday. Some wendy’s later. I was productive for an hour and cleaned. But now I’m lazy and tired AF.
DD1 had a soccer game this morning and we went for lunch afterwards. The house is a disaster and I have no motivation to clean at all because it’s hot and I’m refusing to turn on the air. It’s Oct and it should be cool out and not hot!! DH is traveling for work this weekend so it’s just me and the girls. I might have them watch a movie this afternoon so I can take a nap.

@lovelybabybumpz I just woke up from a nap 30 min ago. I don't know what time I fell asleep but it wasn't long after we finished brunch so maybe 11:30? I just couldn't pull myself up off the couch. And I still don't feel rested.
I just got the reminder for the NCLEX next week 😭 I'm going to be honest, I have NOT been studying enough. I'm incredibly nervous. Gonna go clean my house (so I can concentrate) and then spend the rest of the weekend studying 😭
Did my 3 hour glucose today. Not fun. Basically I know I failed it. Going to just start eating keto.

+1 for napping. I've felt really nauseas all day, so DH went to the gym and took the girls. I tried to watch a movie, but ended up just taking a nap. Then I kept napping once they got home and went down for a nap (but they didn't really nap). I felt so guilty at dinner because I made the girls jack o lantern quesadillas and myself the Knorr cheesy rice, but I couldn't bring myself to cook meat for DH...he's like, "so I just don't get dinner?" Uh no dude, I told you what i was doing for dinner...but I still feel bad. He's currently grilling up a steak he bought on Thursday that I told him personally sounded awful.
@imrachellea that’s how dinner has been at our house lately. I told DH one night to make himself a sandwich and I made the girls Mac n cheese and I ate a baked potato. And it’s worse when DH is gone. Last night they asked me at like 7:30, aren’t you going to make us dinner? I heated up some of TJ’s chicken fried rice and said here you go. 2nd trimester can’t come soon enough!!

@chloe97 I started buying normal sour candy once I realized that’s all preggie pops are, but the pops are just so much more delicious than normal candy and your post made me miss them. I think I need to make a purchase.
We went to a first birthday party today and a fall festival where everything was free. We had sushi for dinner and it was disappointing. Fun Saturday overall though!
MIL picked up the girls for a sleepover this morning so we could spend the day attempting to find some sort of order in our chaos. I sorted through all the toys, threw out a huge bag of macdonald's toys and other crap toys. We also went to Lowes and finally picked up a closet system for my closet and DH put it up almost as soon as we got home, so I started organizing that.
And then a delicious dinner out at the fancy place downtown and now, feet up in a CLEAN living room, watching a horror movie.
But guys, going out to dinner made me reeeeaaallly miss wine. I know it's only 9 months (less, since I'll feel comfortable with a small glass around 8 months), but I really love wine, so giving it up actually sucks.

We are visiting Charleston. Went to a school bazaar (DH and I both used to work at that school). It was crazy seeing how big our old students have gotten. We were going to do a pumpkin patch after lunch, but my kids and I ended up taking a really long nap. It rained during the nap, so it probably would have been yucky at the pumpkin patch. We went to vigil mass and then met some friends for dinner. Finally we took a short walk at the beach. Saw some weird glow in the dark jellyfish. Eek.
@k2k2tog I miss wine (and other adult beverages) too, especially at a nice dinner. It does suck giving it up. Husband and I loved sitting on our back porch, listening to music and having drinks. At least it’s started to get cold I guess.
We didn't do much today. DS was up practically all night. I’m assuming the drainage/coughing kept waking him up. He was miserable. He also hadn’t eaten much the past two days, and I’m wondering if the drainage may have made his stomach hurt because he ended up getting sick. 🤢 Needless to say, we were super lazy today and watched way more Little Baby Bums than usual, but at least it reinforces numbers and shapes. We ended up going to a fall festival husband’s family goes to, and while it was fun dressing DS up, it was pretty pointless. He enjoyed looking at the rabbits that were part of a “petting zoo” and running up and down a hill, and that was about it. The lines for trunk or treating were so ridiculously long, and he would never have the patience for that anyway. We’re all in bed, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a quiet night.
First, I just went out for dinner with the fam and now I want to puke. Haven’t felt overly nauseous in a few days so I totally thought I would be able to handle it. Ugh.
Second, DH just came home from a week-long hunting trip. Yay! But I hate when he comes back from hunting because he has such horrid gas afterward. He always eats horribly when he’s out with the guys and has way too much dairy. He refuses to acknowledge that he’s lactose intolerant and comes home after eating cheese on cheese on cheesey things. Now I’ve banished him to the couch and I’m wanting to go out and buy a gas mask. 😷
SUPPOSEDLY it snowed today for a short while. I stayed in all day and it must have happened during the one hour i took a nap with DD because there is no other way I could have missed that. Other than organize DD's old clothes, I did absolutely nothing today, I feel kinda guilty even though I shouldn't. Fever hasn't returned in the past two days so I'm hoping I can get the flu shot tomorrow. FX.
I like wine a lot. I will generally have a glass of wine 4-5 days a week. Strangely, I never really miss it much with pregnancy. In fact I was adamant while pregnant with DD that I was done drinking for good since it didn’t sound good at all. Well that changed after the pregnancy hormones went away. Ha! I’m glad i don’t miss it as it was one thing I always dread most about getting pregnant!
@expandcontract It didn’t snow by us, but it sleeted briefly. Today was a weird ass weather day. I was watching the Wisconsin Badger football game and it was blizzarding in Madison briefly-like full on blizzard. Then after half time it was sunny. So I’d believe it snowed up by y’all.
Welp, 5 y/o woke up with a stuffy nose and a sore throat. So I have a pretty good inclination as to what our week is going to look like as this works its way through the house. I'm pumping everyone full of fluids this morning and giving the girls regular doses of Souris Verte, trying to kill it before it really starts but I don't know if I'll have any luck. @DuchessOfCambridge your comment in the other thread about elderberry has led me down a rabbit hole this morning looking for options for myself to have on hand. I found a few and emailed my midwife team about it to see what their thoughts/opinions are. I'll be expediting an order of Canadian elderberry syrup as soon as I hear back that its all good!
Also, @k2k2tog and any other Canadian mamas with kiddos older than 2 (package recommends checking with your physician for children under 2) www.sourisverte.ca has an Herbal Syrup that works wonders on a kid's cold and cough. It is also available through Amazon Prime
Well, I attempted to paint our guest bedroom because the walls are disgusting and I need to move the guest bedroom stuff out of the nursery, but could only manage 1 wall before the fumes took over. I had the window wide open, a fan blowing air out of the room, and a fan blowing fresh air into the room. Didn’t help. DH is currently painting while I try and get rid of this headache!
@mrskoz428 Our house desperately needs painted (moved in early August and previous owners were terrible homeowners and tried to DIY things they had no business doing, like painting). We've discussed me taking the girls to my SILs for a weekend and hiring professionals because I can be in here when it's happening. Props to you for attempting that!!
We went to Costco after church this morning just to get samples and buy me pregnancy food 🤣 I'm *so* excited about the smoked salmon dip we picked up!! But...I decided I didn't want any of what we bought and after a Costco hot dog for the girls, DH and I stopped for Chipotle. It was SO good!! Barbacoa for life.
@imrachellea Barbacoa is life! ❤️ Yes, we moved in to our house August 17 and painted every room but 3. I didn’t think the guest room needed it when we moved in but I was so wrong. There are stains, holes, splattered spills, everywhere! So, DH is painting. He has been such a rockstar since I was out on pelvic rest and really limited exercise from my SCH.
Totally forgot: I bought a life size baby doll to work on training our new dog because he has never been around kids before and I’m really worried how he’s going to react to baby. He’s very curious why I have something in my arms and why it keeps crying (thank you YouTube sound effects). Hopefully we can whip his butt into shape in the next 6 months.
@mrskoz428 We did a ton of training with the dog before DS and practicing going on walks with a stroller was super helpful for him! He knew to just heel with the stroller, so it made it easy to get out with him and the baby.
@DressageDarling I’m very worried about in the house. He paws a lot, especially at my face and will try and bite when he wants to play. He’s doing well it biting the doll but keeps pawing at the head and back.
@mrskoz428 what kind of dog do you have? I've never had a dog but I love them! They understand so much and their compassion and patients towards children amazes me! Well, for most of them, at least. I freaking love watching Goldens with babies!
@expandcontract I have a 5 year old American Foxhound who is just the best girl ever and a 2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound/Catahoula mix who is SO fucking naughty! I know Suzy will do amazing but Stuart on the other hand... 😂😂😂 *Photo of dogs because I love them (Suzy left, Stuart right)*
@mrskoz428 I'm definitely not saying don't work with him because I do think its great practice, but our lab is 9 years old and still paws at us for attention. And she'll mouth at DH when they play (never actually bites anymore though). But she never pawed at the babies. Not even once. From the moment they came home she was insanely protective of them, and abnormally calm when she was near them (she is a naturally very hyper, jumpy dog). They have incredible intuition, I am constantly amazed by it. Her relationship with the girls has evolved over time, she paws at them here and there now for attention but much more gently that she ever does to us.

I have to second this. Our dog was just a year old when we brought DD home and we were worried before she was born. He instinctively knew to be gentle with her and would lay next to her as a newborn, but never paw or lick. As she got older, he would lick her spit up and then her face (which our Dr said was okay), but really he just wanted to be near her. Now, she attacks him with hugs and he licks her and they play. He takes a lot from her in stride. Some days, he’s done and hides in his crate, but mostly he likes it. He has never ever bitten her though his tongue lashings can be intense for her.
Our almost 7 year old Lab (almost 2 when the first came home, 4 with the second) has always been great with the kids. Curious, patient. We had my parents bring blankets home to her that the girls were wrapped in at the hospital before the babies came home to help them recognize their scents. We also established the girls dominance to her by having her lay on her back and placing the baby on her stomach. We were really never worried about her behavior as she's such a good dog, but they're still animals and you want to take precautions.
Eta, even before we had kids if we ever ran into a kid that wanted to pet her we taught her to lay down and crawl to the child so she wasn't intimidating.
For everyone mentioning how gentle their dogs where with their babies. Its great that your dogs our.
We had 2 dogs when we had DS. We had a rott and a chiweenie. Both dogs where fine my whole pregnancy. Brought DS home not so much. I couldn't trust them in the room with him even with me in the room. If I was holding DS they would growl at him. A few times the chiweenie tried to nip at him while I was holding him for no reason. He was a newborn and not even a toddler who was all moving around.
Ladies please just be very careful. Our dogs never got better with DS and we had to constantly keep them in different rooms in the house that we could lock to keep them away from him.
