  • @psychobutthead that is amazing! Can you make pie? There is nothing like homemade pie and I think it would be the perfect thank you gift at this time of year. And a heartfelt card as @expandcontract suggested.

  • So, my butternut squash is still sitting, roasted and untouched, in my fridge because yesterday, our kitchen builders FINALLY showed up at 2pm (SO LATE) and ripped apart our island because they built it wrong in the first place. They should be back early this morning because the granite is set to be installed at 11am. I was so mad when I saw the state they left my house in last night, but I am actually crazy excited to finally have it more or less finished after today, that I might not even be mad anymore when I get home. Assuming it is actually almost finished.

We've been functioning with half a kitchen for 2 months. I am so ready for this renovation done.

  • It’s snowing here 😭😭😭 it’s too early for this nonsense
  • That is an awesome boss @psychobutthead!  I agree something homemade and a thank you card.

Glad you guys are ok @msb615!
  • @thebobloblaw ahh snow already? Are you in Canada?
@psychobutthead that is so sweet of boss. I can imagine a huge weight is lifted from your shoulders!

Every day at my office there's some racket outside. Mondays it's the leaf blowers. Tuesdays it's the pressure washers. Today, I can't identify it, but it's annoying!

  • @lovelybabybumpz no but kind of close, Minnesota. “Usually” don’t see this until November.
  • @psychobutthead also vote for a heartfelt thank you card, and maybe a plate of cookies or something. That was really nice of him!
@thebobloblaw yikes where are you? I'm in Mass, and the earliest I've ever seen snow was on Halloween.
@k2k2tog kitchens are the hardest thing to renovate because it sucks not having one!! This was us 2 years ago. You will be so thankful when it's over though! It'll be worth it.

I'm holding on to 2 pregnancy secrets right now besides my own, and the pressure to keep it in is kind of hard, so as a result, I've started to become somewhat loosy goosy with my own news! It's like word vomit. I would really like to wait at least another week, which will be after our appt and I'll also be 11 weeks which is nice  - but here I am spilling the beans ahead of schedule. It makes me feel a little anxious and uncomfortable each time I tell someone, but yet I seem to have no control. I don't know what's wrong with me. Anyone else?

  • Omg... this day is getting crappier by the minute. Literally. 😭 we have our kitty litter in our master bathtub that we don’t use. The plug is in so it doesn’t go down the drain. I got home from dropping my daughter off at school and found the water running and kitty litter floating everywhere. Luckily it hadn’t overflown yet 👏🏼
  • @peachy13 I wasn't planning to telll anyone besides my mom and sister (who are my "people") until 12 weeks at least but my friend and I were texting last night and I knew they were planning to start TTC in July. Basically it hadn't happened for them yet and she was pretty discouraged and then asked if we'd started trying again. I could've just said yes but didn't want her to look back on the conversation and know I was pregnant so I told her we were almost 9 weeks. She was one of my bridesmaids but last pregnancy I waited until we visited her and her now husband around 22 weeks to tell her so I could do it in person.

  • @peachy13 I literally keep forgetting that not everyone knows and almost slipping with comments! It feels like I've had this secret for months. Finally telling our parents next weekend and then will slowly text friends the news. Going to be such a relief. I do like to keep the secret between me and H for as long as possible, though. But it was tough this time around!

  • @msb615 so glad to hear all is well!

@psychobutthead that is such an amazing gesture! I teared up reading it. I sometimes feel like I am losing faith in humanity and it's stories like that that keep me believing in the good.

@thebobloblaw it snowed here yesterday for the first time! I feel like it's WAY too early for that here (CO). Normally we don't see it until Nov. It is supposed to get near the 60's again next week so I will take it!

I am *so bored*. I'm in the nap room at school and all our frequent flyers for problems at nap are actually sleeping so it's quiet, peaceful, dark, and I don't have to tell anyone to be quiet. Tomorrow is also a holiday for our half day kids, so it's a fun day for our full day students therefore I have nothing to plan in regards to lessons. I wish I was home so I could take a nap myself, but instead I'm watching everyone else nap. And I have nothing to do.

  • Hey- didn't we have a weekly AMA check in or am I missing it? I have some questions for my fellow geriatric moms so maybe I will start a thread for this week.
  • I have told so many people at this point I stopped keeping track.  Just can’t help myself @peachy13 😂
  • OMG it's so good to be on a real computer and able to contribute again. Is anyone else's bump app not giving a comment box at the end of the threads? I haven't been able to add anything or respond for days so now I'm playing catch up on tons and tons of posts, sorry for the super late responses and bringing stuff back up from forever ago, lol.

@secicc12 Holy moly! I also work for a university and ours is terrible by comparison lol. My fiancé is union though and his benefits are what will be keeping my costs down for this kiddo.

@psychobutthead I’m sorry you’re having such a terrible week! I hope it starts looking better now that you have the prescription to help your kiddo feel better.

@mrskoz428 So rude! You never ask if someone is pregnant. I’ve been asked a couple times if I was pregnant once by a stranger while I was working as a cashier. I was 20 and about 120 lbs and her teenage sons looks completely humiliated when I said nope that’s just fat. I used essentially the same line about a year ago when another teacher asked me in the hallway super loudly. If you don’t want to be embarrassed when I tell you nope it’s just fat leftover from the last one, then DON’T ASK ME IF I’M PREGNANT!

@eatinwatermelonseeds I had a July baby last time and pretty much just stayed inside hibernating but I also had a rough csection recovery. This one I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors with my kiddos for my spring/summer maternity leave. If you little one likes the beach just make sure to get infant sun clothes. They also make water slings/carriers so you can wear the baby and still have hands to keep up with your older kiddo. I will say I put my son in swim lessons at 6 months old and would have taken him his first summer to the lake or pool if I had recovered better. Public swim areas and an open wound didn’t sound like a great idea and it took 3-4 months for my incision to fully close. Also to a comment further down, if I’m remembering correctly you’re near me in WA. I believe Nola baby in Bremerton and Blossom baby in Silverdale both carry water slings/carriers in their stores.

@psychobutthead again I can look at my water sling when I get home and let you know what brand it is. They do make water carriers too if you prefer something with buckles I can’t remember any of the brands off the top of my head though… and then to a little further down in the thread OMG how wonderful of your husband’s boss. Baked goods are always a nice thanks;)

I tried to just do some highlights to keep this shortish.
  • @fuscok88 Sometimes the bump app logs me out so it won't let me comment. So annoying!

  • H's sisters are coming from out of state to visit this weekend.  I'm excited because I love his sisters, BUT, I'm seriously behind on housework and I'm in no way ready for company this weekend.  I should get off my duff and clean my microwave or something, but ugggg.  (I do have laundry going, so there's that.)  They are single and live together in a beautiful, well decorated immaculate home.  I live in a smaller, kid decorated home, (not kidding, my 4yo colored on the walls with sharpie and white out last week) which seems to constantly have a tornado running through it destroying everything.  Staying on top of housework feels impossible right now, let alone hosting guests who don't know I'm pregnant.
  • @psychobutthead That is so awesome of your husbands boss just wanted to add another vote for a handwritten thank you note.
  • @fatmonica how long are they staying with you? Since they're staying with you,  you may want to tell them lest they figure it out themselves. That way,  you'll be in control of how they find out and hopefully they'll be more helpful around the house!

  • @fuscok88 thank you! Both Bremerton and Silverdale are about an hour away from here, but I'll check online-- maybe they ship. Thank you so much!!
  • @fatmonica could you swing hiring a cleaning service before they arrive? We hire a small crew before we do anything at our (also smaller, somewhat cluttered) home... they're in and out in less than an hour and it's pretty short money, and 100% worth it if you don't have the time or like most of us right now, no energy. They also do all that nasty kitchen/bathroom cleaning which would also make me gag if I was doing right now. GL!

  • @expandcontract they are just coming Fri-Monday, so it will be a quick visit.  Luckily, they are pretty chill people, so it should be ok.  It's more in my head from being raised by my type A mother that I should pretend to be a perfect housekeeper.  I'm debating telling them, but if MIL finds out they knew first she will be ticked, and I want to tell my family in person at Thanksgiving.
@peachy13 Hiring a housekeeper would be great, but I live in the middle of nowhere so while there are probably some ladies who clean houses in the area, I don't know anyone to ask on short notice.  Luckily DD is 10 and can be very helpful when properly motivated.  All the kids are currently cleaning.  It will get done, at least to an acceptable level.   :)   I'm just feeling whiney and unmotivated.
  • My SIL is special you guys. She keeps messaging me and making comments about things that are just getting under my skin (mostly the pregnancy and things that will be affected by having another baby like our finances aka things that have nothing to do with her!!) Heaven help me. It's taking all my patience not the flip my lid on her.
  • @ibanezstarburst How is that any of her business?? Maybe she thinks she's being "helpful". Could she also be jealous that you're having a baby and trying to think of negative things to bring you down?

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @secicc12 I have no clue. She can be very snarky so that's the way I'm taking it. I dont think shes jealous. Her and her husband dont want to have kids.
  • @ibanezstarburst Some people are super anti-kids and want everyone else to be that way too. :( You are right to be annoyed

  • @ibanezstarburst i think you should flip the lid on her.  She has it coming.

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds that was my costume last time I was KU and it was PERFECT! Love it!

  • @kbeers13 I just learned today that my school doesn’t do a Halloween dress up day and apparently most schools no longer really talk about Halloween. So, there will be a black and orange day but that’s it. I was kind of surprised! But glad to find out before Halloween.

  • @kbeers13 Yep! I'll probably be the only one, but I lurve dressing up.

  • I’m too lazy to dress up.

DS has a cute tiger costume though.  It’s his first Halloween and I’m super excited.  Plus we are telling my niece and nephew that night.  Their parents like to wait until the end of first tri just to make sure everything is good.  My niece is 7 and she loves babies.  She always feeds DS a bottle when she comes over so I can’t wait to see how excited she is about this baby.
  • Has anybody seen @Duchessofcambridge ? I know she was on vacation but she usually pops in for a few.
