  • @navyblueladybug count me in for cramps. It’s the only symptom I seem to have, which is such a sucky one to have.

@srscott3 I’m right there with you with the line darkness worry. But it’s still super early for us both. So hopefully things check out just fine at our first appointments!

  • Great numbers, @meatballs37! Crossing everything for *at least* doubling on Friday!

Also, I went down a deep rabbit hole search this week about light BFPs and lines not getting darker on pretty much every forum that allows pictures of pee sticks. So many people on those boards didn’t see darker lines for weeks and went on to have healthy LOs. I also called First Response, because I am a freak and I was scared. The lady said that a line means you’re pregnant and no line means you’re not. They’re not made to show hcg progression, even though it’s common for women to get darker lines. I tried to relax even though I’ve been testing for over a week with light lines. I finally got a slightly darker line this afternoon, at freaking 18DPO.
Are your lines only visible in bright light or when tilting the stick? Because from what I read, as long as you can see the line just fine while it’s sitting on a counter or some flat surface and you’re standing, you should be fine. I know it’s still nerve wracking though
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 5w3d

    2. Previous loss(es)? 2 this year (Ectopic in March; chemical in August)

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?  Physically I'm doing fine. I've had some minor cramps that stress me out, but otherwise just fatigue, sore boobs, and some random bouts of nausea.  Emotionally it's a different story.  I'm scared of another loss and anxious something will go wrong.  At the same time, I feel like all this worrying can't be good, so I'm trying hard to be hopeful.

    4. Any appointment updates? 6w u/s scheduled for 10/11. Cannot come some enough.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Any other PGAL-ers out there with past ectopics?

    6. Any milestones coming up? My ectopic happened at 5w4d, which is what I will be tomorrow. Oh, and also my wedding anniversary is in two weeks and DH planned a weekend in the mountains so we can celebrate!

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO? It's always been his sense of humor - even in weeks like this week when I'm an emotional wreck, he can make me smile.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 4w4d

    2. Previous loss(es)? CP in 2011, elective abortion due to medical complications in 2009

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Physically I feel okay. My legs are cramping really bad today and that kind of sucks. I generally feel pretty normal though. Emotionally I’m not ready to get excited about this pregnancy. The first trimester is just so unpredictable. I’m optimistic but won’t be overly excited until much later.

    4. Any appointment updates? I have an appt 10/17 for a quick ultrasound and chat with my OB. Feels like forever away.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? What did you ladies who had an ectopic experience that lead you to believe something was up? I called my OB about the pain I’m having and she said its “probably” not an ectopic because the pain isn’t one sided but she was going to collaborate with her team and call me back.

    6. Any milestones coming up? Not yet. *TW* I feel like I have a strange “fear” of pregnancy. My first pregnancy was so traumatic with the elective abortion. My pregnancy with my daughter (after CP) my dad died when I was about 5 months pregnant and it was horribly traumatic. I’ve thought about seeing a therapist to work through some of my fears surrounding pregnancy.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO? He is so patient. He never really raises his voice or gets frustrated. I admire him for that.
  • @moralesbaby19 my ectopic story is in the spoiler, but for anyone reading who might want to skip the details, I had to fight for an ultrasound bc I was so early, but I knew something wasn’t right, so I encourage everyone to be their own advocate! If something doesn’t feel right, talk to your midwife/doctor.

    TW*
Around 11 dpo i had a very faint positive test but I started spotting and had what I thought was a CP, I had a light period and then found out about 20 DPO I was actually pregnant. I had my betas tested every few days and my levels were not doubling every 48 hours. So we weren’t too optimistic. My progesterone was also very low (6) so they put me on progesterone. About a week later I started having really bad cramps, but mine were NOT just on one side. However, a side effect of progesterone, and pregnancy, is constipation so I thought maybe that was all it was. It lasted 3 days and on the 3rd day I told my nurse if she didn’t five me an appt I was going to the ER. I got an appt with my midwife and due to all my symptoms she got me a US and it was confirmed. They gave me methotrexate and I thought it was working but it was also very painful (constipation, horrible cramping) but those are all the “normal” signs. However, I found out at 7 weeks (4 days after the injection) that my tube had split and I was actually slowly bleeding internally. My tube actually ruptured an hour or so before my surgery.

So to summarize, cramping, digestive issues, low rising betas, and just an overall feeling that something wasn’t right. Feel free to PM me or ask any questions. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

  • @moralesbaby19
My ectopic story is also in the spoiler, but I wanted to add here that I’ve been seeing a therapist to help with the fear and anxiety that (for me) comes with TTCAL and it has been so worthwhile. I’m still working on things, and probably will be for a while, but it really has helped and continues to be a great source of support.

    **TW**
For me, it started with light spotting at work one day. The blood was brown, not red, so I wasn’t too concerned at first. Over the course of a day, the spotting got heavier but stayed brown. The next morning, I developed a pain in my right lower abdomen (all the while still bleeding). It felt like someone was drilling or squeezing my insides with increasing intensity in only that spot. That should have set off alarm bells for me, but the pain wasn’t that bad at first so I tried to convince myself it was normal stretching cramps or some super early variation of round ligament pain. In retrospect, I should have called my doctor right away, but I think I was naive and in denial that something was really wrong. Instead, I waited another day and ended up in the ER the following morning because the pain got so bad it woke me up in the middle of the night. At the ER, my HCG was only 386 and an tv ultrasound confirmed the egg implanted in my tube. I had methotrexate that same day, and was fortunate in the sense that it worked and I ultimately did not have to have surgery.
  • @jessica4141 @nmbrcrnchr1 See now this is why I will never understand why they don’t do an US earlier than 8 or 10 weeks as standard practice. It makes me so mad when I hear of stories when OB patients are brushed off about scary symptoms. And essentially are told to “wait it out”

  • @meatballs37 agree! And that is why I tell my story. Bc honestly if I hadn’t had a successful pregnancy before my ectopic I would’ve just carried on bc the nurse told me it was “normal” and I don’t even want to think what would’ve happened had I ignored it.

Now I do get that some people just want to see the baby early so they have to be somewhat strict when it comes to early scans but I also think that is where the face to face conversation with a midwife helped me. She then realized I wasn’t only focused on a viable baby, I was concerned with my own health. This time around there have been no issues with scheduling an early scan :)

    1. How many weeks are you? 5+2

    2. Previous loss(es)?

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? I find EVERYTHING funny all of a sudden. Physically just tired.

    4. Any appointment updates? First ultrasound November 20th.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?

    6. Any milestones coming up? Not too much. Every day is a milestone in my books!

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO? I can always rely on him for anything. And he also helps me clean the house. I can be gone and come home and he’s doing laundry and has vacuumed and washed the floors. It’s the little things he doesn’t to help me out. Plus he always keeps my smiling and laughing.
  • @mandik85 I think you may be posting in the wrong spot. This thread is for ladies who have had a loss (you put 0). The PGAL stands for pregnant after loss.

  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    almost 6

    2. Previous loss(es)?
Just one, but it was eye opening. I never thought it would happen to me, but now I know that 1 in 4 is very true. This is my 4 so fingers crossed

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?
Emotionally I am all over the place, but mostly happy and the same as usual. Although I have noticed I cry at some pretty silly things sometimes.
Physically I am EXHAUSED. It’s a good thing I stay home, because I can’t imagine trying to work while feeling this way. I’ve also have the worst nausea I’ve ever had while pregnant. I didn’t have it with either of my two before, and now it’s so bad. Bright side, I haven’t actually been sick. Just felt terrible.

    4. Any appointment updates?
I’m most likely going to wait until week 12 or so to call my Midwife, for... reasons. Unless something really bad happens

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?
*RAVE*  DH. Oh that incredible, loving, perfect man. This past Sunday, he did EVERYTHING around the house without my asking or saying a thing. He cleaned. He cooked. He did yard work. He was constantly asking if he could do anything for me or get me anything. He arranged a foot bath/soak that smelled divine and then massaged my feet. It makes me cry, how good that man is to me. I love him so much.

    6. Any milestones coming up?
Not that I can think of.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO?
See above ;)<3 (also, he’s really really hot, haha. Think Brandon Flowers from the killers)
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    4 weeks, 5 days

    2. Previous loss(es)?
MMC at 10 weeks before my DD.

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?
Physically I feel pretty good! Intermittent nausea, hurty boobs, some bloat. Emotionally, I'm mixed. My last pregnancy was pretty chill and I'm trying to make that my daily mantra. One day at a time, one day closer to getting done with this first trimester.

    4. Any appointment updates?
I get my second beta results today, fingers-crossed.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?
    Not at the moment.

    6. Any milestones coming up?
    Week five starts on Saturday!

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO?
He is so helpful, ready to take on anything, and a really wonderful father to DD.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    5w +1 (estimate per LMP)

    2. Previous loss(es)?
    Two MC - 7/16 (11 weeks), 8/17 (stopped growing 5 1/2 weeks).

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?
Physically...about the same as prior times, crampy but OK.
Emotionally...trying to take this one day at a time and not get stressed. After knowing we had chromosomal issues with the prior MCs, we went to an RE and planned for a November FET with the one PGS normal embryo we had after two IVF cycles. Much to our surprise we ended up with a BFP instead, so I'm trying not to get too excited this could possibly mean we have a chance to use the frozen embryo for a second biological child. That would have almost certainly been off the table after using our one embryo for the FET.

    4. Any appointment updates?
My two betas this week went well, will have an ultrasound on 10/15.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?
I've learned a lot about the realities of fertility over 40 through this process.  Definitely have the "wish I knew then what I know now" attitude and it's frustrating, even if my own choices got me here.

    6. Any milestones coming up?
Just that each appointment is a threshold to cross.  Also getting out of the first trimester will be a big one given my MC experiences.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO
I am super forgetful unless I write things down or set up reminders and he remembers everything and helps me out often!
  • 1 How many weeks are you? 3w6d

    2. Previous loss(es)? MC 7/2016 and 7/2018

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Scared to get hopeful over this pregnancy and worried that I shouldn’t be posting bc it’s too early. Physically lots of stretching feeling in my stomach/uterus area and a little nausea here and there.

    4. Any appointment updates? First US 10/17 at 6 weeks

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Out of my 4 pregnancies this one is the highest hcg level this early. I know hcg means nothing bc my DD was less than my last mc but still gives me something good to hold on to.

    6. Any milestones coming up? Celebrating our 4 year anniversary today.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO? He’s so nice and open. We talk to each other about everything and he is always doing little things to show how much he loves me. He’s also a 50/50 parent and I never feel it’s all on me.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 4 +3

    2. Previous loss(es)? 9.5 week loss in May 2018

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? I am doing ok. Struggling with the guilt of being excited. I really want this to be real but I am still very much so caught up in the fact that I "should" being having a baby in 2 months.

    4. Any appointment updates? I go for my 1st apt on Monday but I should be doing a phone call today in regards to my loss history and any tests they want done before Monday.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Mostly just happy to be joining a BMB but sad to meet everyone in a pgal thread.

    6. Any milestones coming up? With both of my pregnancies I have had bleeding around 6 weeks. With my son it cleared up by 8 weeks, with my last pregnancy it ended with a miscarriage at 9.5 weeks. So if I could make it through the next few weeks without bleeding that would be fantastic.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite thing about your SO? his loyalty. He is for sure my ride or die.
  • Yes @meatballs37!!!!!! I’m so happy you had a good ride 😁 enjoy your date ❤️
  • So good to hear @meatballs37! Congrats and have a great date night :)

    2. Previous loss(es)?  MMC @ 8w in Dec 2017, CP in Jul 2018

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?  Physically-- Very nauseated, but this was also true for my MMC (the whole time!). I get symptoms early and often. Emotionally-- it's a roller coaster. Tentatively excited/optimistic, but very, very anxious. Trying to stay in the present. Cramps freaking me out. Worried about anything that even resembles potential spotting. Hoping I will chill out a bit as it sinks in.

    4. Any appointment updates? None yet-- waiting til at least 5w for confirmation of pregnancy, to avoid CP issues.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Just trying to get myself ready for the next 1-2 months of uncertainty.

    6. Any milestones coming up?
