Today is a lazy day + laundry. Tomorrow I have to work for a few hours Good news, is this will (hopefully) be the last weekend I have to work until next Spring!
@Hollyyyyy yay for the last weekend of work! I am counting down to Nov 10, that is my last Saturday (I don't work every weekend though).
We are packing this weekend cause we move in 10 days! Lots to Do! Also, h and I were trying to think of nursery rhymes this morning and we could only come up with little miss moffett and the Muppet babies and animaniacs theme songs. I'm seriously hoping someone gets us a nursery rhyme book lol
@morgantu I'm M-F and occasionally work weekends to promote new neighborhoods that we have opening. Thankfully we don't really kick off a lot between Oct-Feb, so I get a break! I can't believe your move date is already almost here. Do you guys at least get an overlap between moving in to the new house/out of the old one?
@Hollyyyyy we have 2 days. In the middle of the week lol. Luckily we don't have too much stuff because our house is little and we moved a lot to storage. I just wish i could be more helpful! I can pack boxes, but that's pretty much it and I need constant breaks. Oh well, it'll be worth it!
Nothing eventful happening in my neck of the woods this weekend. I've been nesting like crazy lately. Had to fold sooo much laundry yesterday, even took both carseats apart and washed them, put them back together and back in the car. So now we dont have to worry about installing the nb seat. Im very sore so me and ds are gonna have a lazy day.
Between cuddle time, we are going to try to get our yard cleaned up. It was pushed to the bottom of the totem pole while I was in the hospital and with all the rain we've had it's an absolute jungle and it looks so terrible.
I lost a whole month of nesting time being in the hospital plus the next two being dominated by NICU stuff, so I'm going to try to make a list of all of the big things I need to get done before John comes home and hopefully try to get one done each weekend. Maybe I can even work in getting a freezer meal done each weekend too. We've already got the tomato sauce canned so that's a huge burden done with!
@hkom take it easy on yourself. You are still recovering physically and emotionally.
AFM, I went to a huge consignment sale this morning and bought DS’s winter wardrobe, including snow boots, a few more sleepers for this LO, a 0/6 month snow suit, and some kiindle pouches to try for $95. Other than that, I’m just catching up on house stuff and hopefully making DS’s curtains.
@morgantu@katy0990 it's nothing crazy I promise H is doing all of the hard stuff. I'm just going to be trimming dead plants and moving small stuff around. Getting stuff cleaned up and back in normal order around the house is helping me a lot emotionally.
I'm feeling fine physically. Still much weaker than normal, obviously, especially because of the best rest. But not a whole lot to recover from in terms of the actual birth. No tears and I'm not really bleeding anymore. And all of the crampiness is pretty much gone.
@Hollyyyyy Love a lazy laundry day! @morgantu 10 days - awesome! Do you guys use Spotify? They have tons of kid-centric playlists (I haven’t listened to them, but I know they exist!) @hkom Yards - ugh. That’s one situation where DH and I prefer to throw money at to make it go away. @katy0990 Nice consignment haul! I’m trying to limit buying baby clothes, sometimes I can’t help myself if the price is right
DH is back! Yesterday he woke in Paris and slept in Alabama - he stayed up later than we expected, 8pm His jet lag isn't too bad, so that's nice. Today we're being bums, snuggling the dogs, and drinking all of the coffee. I'll get some laundry moving tomorrow, and I'm S-L-O-W-L-Y assembling my hospital bag (starting with grippy socks and extension cords. I'm setting it up by the door so I can just toss things in the bag as I think about it).
Oh, and getting us signed up for classes. I've got us on for Childbirth & Breastfeeding classes. I need to get us on for Infant CPR, and Newborn Care. Classes here are ultra cheap, the four classes are fewer than $100 - I hope the price isn't representative of the quality.

@Hollyyyyy a lazy day sounds good! @morgantu good luck with your move and packing! When I’m trying to do major cleaning I get so frustrated by the amount of breaks I need. Mentally I want to get my house back in order after pulling everything out of the room that is baby’s nursery, physically it’s taking forever. @hkom enjoy the yard work - hopefully it’s cooler temps where you are.
This morning my 6 year olds ran in their first cross country meet and I was so proud of them! Then we went straight to DS1’s baseball games. The kids want to go buy Halloween decorations for outside, so we might go do that soon. I’m hoping to also go through a couple of boxes of things in my living room and decide either where they need to go or put them in a pile to take somewhere for donating. Tomorrow is church and another baseball game for DS1.
Big weekend over here...juuuuust kidding of course! I did make some disastrous waffles-turned-pancakes for the toddler, and then we got out of the house for a bit to his hair cut (long-overdue but toddler cuts are just a pain). Then we stopped at Sam's afterward for a couple of things + pizza for him (wah, Whole30 day 4 for me).
Looks like he's awake now, so we might head out to a playground soon, if I can muster up the fortitude to head out into the heat again. I've reached the "too-hot-for-pants" part of this pregnancy. Sigh.
PSA: I said this in the STM thread this week but it's valuable advice for FTM's to not be like me, haha. I've been clearing out a bunch of old photos and videos because a lot of it is just redundant and/or dumb. But like guys, I am so annoying. I'll take eight videos of me trying to get my son to perform some barely-acquired skill when he's clearly not interested in performing the thing I'm asking him to do. And then sometimes I'll do it again a few days later and here I am in the present just rolling my eyes like, come on you asked him to do this three days ago. Do you really need to see him wrinkle his nose again?
Anyway. It's helping me be slightly more cognizant of the fact that I should let him do his own thing and not disturb his concentration.

I forgot what weekends were like before kids. Don’t mind me - im just jealous of low key weekends. We started today with swim lessons for both boys at 9am, ds1 had soccer at 11, came home and had lunch and tried to force them to nap (they did but it took a while so short naps), then a birthday party at a kid jump place (we stayed there 3 hours). I stopped by McDonalds drivethru for a happy meal dinner (because I’m exhausted). They aren’t eating McDonald’s - they are smarter than me. H is working sat and sun night so I’m planning showers and letting them sleep with me tonight. I also had to ride down the slides beside ds2 (not on my lap but adjacent slides) because he is 2 and wanted to go, but was scared. Ds1 was in his element with his buddies so he entertained himself.
Did our usual grocery shopping today, plus bought some warmer clothes for DS as the weather is starting to turn cold and got a couple Christmas gifts bought (bottles of wine for M/FIL and B/SIL, nothing too crazy lol). I've also cut out the rest of DHs and all of DSs Christmas pj pants to be sewn. Just need to cut mine and actually sew them all! Also thinking about trying to make a NB cloth diaper...we'll see lol.
Tomorrow we're going to the renaissance festival with some friends. Should be a good day! Weather in the 70s, sunny, and of course being with friends!
It’s been kind of leisurely weekend so far. DD had swim lessons, the I had a hair appointment (cut & color) while MH took DD to the zoo for costume party. Then folding a zillion loads of laundry before a walk with MH and DD to a neighborhood bookstore and a pizza place.
Eta: Tomorrow should also be low-key. We a brunch with friends, a trip to the farmers market, and a little work tomorrow if I don’t do it tonight.
Also, random observation: we are going to have a lot of apples & apple picking this year. We already went once last weekend. Then DD is going with her preschool next week. And we have two different sets of friends who want to go on different weekends in October.
I wanted to return clothes yesterday but DD seems to have come down with another cold or a resurgence of the cold from last week or so. She’s got a nasty cough that almost sounds chesty that I hope doesn’t result in anything. Then, mid day I found a tick in her scalp it must have just bitten her within the previous few hours so it’s highly unlikely that she will risk getting Lyme, but it’s still gross and unsettling.
We went to my SIL house for a bonfire and DD did well for how late we were there (9, when her bedtime is usually 730). But it was exhausting trying to keep her out of the fire lol
Today DH woke up and left at 540 (I guess because he was restless and didn’t want to wake me, but woke me when he got up) and I couldn’t fall back asleep. DD has been awake/asleep/crying on and off since 630, and I’ve gone in twice to give her pacifiers and ibuprofen. DH and our dog are currently sleeping on the couch on freshly washed and dried blankets while I dread the rest of the day.
Dang it, @Jens_Hoes I hope DD gets to feeling better! Way to keep her out of that fire though! @CecilB93 Oh man, how I miss the KC Ren Fest! @hkom You’re doing so awesome at balancing NICU time and home time. I don’t know how you do it, but you’re a friggin rock star! @morgantu I can’t believe you’re almost a week away from moving, so exciting!
DH and I went to the Rockies game after work Friday and it was so much fun. They clinched the wildcard spot, so they (the team, not the fans, haha) celebrated with champagne showers and it was a fireworks night, so the stadium put on an awesome show. Yesterday, I slept in, thanks to the late date night and then just did things around the house. Painted a wall in DD’s new big girl room! My Dad is coming over to help paint the rest of the room today so we should be able to get her new furniture in next weekend, eek! Today, I also have to find a way to not throat punch MH after his drinking shenanigans last night. Tomorrow’s BFiesta is definitely hearing from this woman. Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!
I think I am going to get back in to geocaching again. It's a little late in the year around here since it's going to get colder, but I think it'll be a good distraction for DS during the week as opposed to him destroying the house.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
@Jens_Hoes I hope she feels better soon @Katzalia I've never been apple picking! Dumb question, but what do you do with all the apples? Bake pies? @echo-charlietango Just saw this and immediately thought of you
I think it was @morgantu who mentioned nursery rhymes....but I not sure. Whoever wanted to know more nursery rhymes - “baby bum” on you tube. Your kid will love it. You will learn a million nursery rhymes.
Also random advice - a great baby pandora station Rockabye baby (many similar - picture in spoiler). We bought the Michael Jackson cd of this when ds1 was born. Then we discovered the station. We don’t listen now, but it was great for the little baby days.

@Jens_Hoes sorry your weekend is not going as planned, I hope your DD feels better quickly! @Hollyyyyy lol at the picture. As far as what to do with apples - we made baked apples, an apple pie and some apple butter. We still have quite a few left I was thinking about trying to make apple sauce with because it sounds easy.
I cant believe it’s already Sunday night, our weekends go by too fast. One more month of insanity due to sports schedules, I can make it. We just got back from DS1’s baseball game at fields I cannot stand playing at because so many people stand around smoking (not from our team). I’m not sure what it is about these fields because we do not have problems anywhere else, but it’s crazy that they don’t have a no smoking policy being that it is youth baseball fields.
I have over done it am I am paying for it today. I am physically and mentally over it. My parents took DD for the whole weekend so I could attend a 40th birthday surprise and two weddings.
The birthday party was great minus the fact DH drank more than I would have preferred him too. We were home by 11pm but I had a horrible night of sleep. Saturday I was out of the house by 9:30 and on the road to the burgh. I stopped at Ikea to pick up the sink we needed for our bathroom remodel but it is now discontinued. I am so mad that I didn’t buy it a month ago but I was waiting on our contractors approval to make sure it will work. We have a very small space and now I will be spending big bucks for one to be custom made. Then I got stuck in gridlock and was late to the first wedding. The bride couldn’t believe I made it since I wasn’t able to attend the reception due to other wedding my husband was best man for. When she walked out of the church she ran over to me for a hug! It was the highlight of my day!! The wedding back home was great too but we stayed out way too late. I ended up taking care of the bride who got sick and I was shocked because she didn’t seem bad at all. By the time we got home, I too was sick. Finally got to bed around 3 am after an hours of throwing up.
Today I can’t seem to recover. I have had a headache pretty much all day. I keep crying because it feels like nothing is going my way. It’s a bunch of little stuff but it’s all adding up and I obviously can’t handle anything this pregnancy. I just don’t feel like myself and can’t handle all the bitching I do on here but it actually helps to write it out. I promise if you met me I am not the whiny little bitch I come off as in most of my posts. Lol ugh tomorrow is another day!!
@LLynde5 Aw, wow it does sound like you had a rough weekend. I hope you begin to recover, and feel better soon. As far as the sink, have you looked online? Sometimes when things are discontinued in stores, they still have some lingering online. I hope you find something you love, that works for you, and is also inexpensive. Hugs, friend.
@snugglyduckling25 I had to Google apple butter, and it sounds a lot like apple sauce- is there something in particular you do with it, or just eat it plain? I feel like an idiot, haha, this is apparently all brand new to me! That sucks that they allow smoking at a youth event. You'd think the offenders would at least have enough sense to bring it to the parking lot, or somewhere away from everybody else.
@Hollyyyyy we been searching but we are striking out. Our contractor is a talented wood worker and what he makes will look better than prefab but I was trying to keep on budget. We will be moving or building in the next year so we most likely won’t get our money out of this remodel but it needs to be done.
@LLynde5 aww...I’m so sorry, but know you are not alone. The end of pregnancy is hard - I was crying yesterday because I just hurt and am exhausted and am just over it. Anytime I get the energy to do something and feel great about it the next day I can barely move and I hate it. We will make it to the end and eventually forget how hard this is.
@Hollyyyyy we eat it on toast or rolls, DS1 likes apple butter sandwiches too. And I totally agree about the smoking, I just don’t get it and am looking for who to complain to.
@ all the ladies, weekends are hard. We need a day of rest that doesn’t include having to get a list of things completed (or at least a few hours). We need this pregnant or not pregnant.
@LLynde5 im sorry you have so much hitting you at once. *hugs* FWIW We found our vanity on Amazon for a steal. It was the same as the one I wanted at Lowe’s, but $450 cheaper and great quality.
@katy0990 thank you! The vanity issue is it can only be 24 inches wide and 14.75 inches deep. Most 24 inch sinks are 17-18 inches or bigger. I have found a few that would fit but they are hideous. One was half of a wine barrel, unless you are building a winery I don’t understand why it exist. Lol
I have been trying to find a side table that we could put a sink basin on to crate one. (Farm style). Even though our house is more craftsman.
Ugh, @LLynde5 I'm so sorry you had one of THOSE weekends and then ended up sick on top of it. Sending creepy internet hugs and hoping you get to feeling better today. Andplusalso, I don't think any of us think you're a whiny little biotch!
@Hollyyyyy Apple butter is amaze balls (even though I never buy any, hmmm...)! I grew up eating it on cinnamon raisin toast.
