H and I are taking the babe on a bike ride in the park this morning, to celebrate him being DONE done with the dissertation.
Also we didn’t have eggs for breakfast this morning, and considering that breakfast is pretty much my child’s only meal of the day we need to figure something out. Breakfast for lunch, ayyyy! In any case, I bring this up because our egg consumption is ridiculous. We got two dozen eggs in our grocery order on Sunday!

@PensiveCrayon Congrats to your husband. What an amazing accomplishment!
AFM - My MIL is here due to hurricane evacuation. She's a nice lady but such a talker. It's exhausting! She's currently sleeping on an air mattress in our soon to be baby room. It's currently full of boxes from all the furniture that was delivered and the baby gifts arriving. I have a handy man coming tomorrow morning to install a ceiling fan and do some touch up painting. I was hoping we could start putting furniture together but that can't happen until my MIL leaves and who knows when that will be.
@lexidawg I hope her home isn't in the direct line of the hurricane and she has a place to go back to. I can't imagine living in hurricane areas. Hopefully it passes quick though so things can go back to normal.
I'm super excited for today! We're taking DS (2.5) to see Marvel Universe Live! He LOVES the Avengers movies, particularly the characters Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Thor. It's nearly 2 hours though, so FX he's entertained the whole time, and we don't have any potty accidents. Unfortunately, it's right around lunch/nap time, so I'm a little worried. Otherwise, idk that we have much planned.
@PensiveCrayon Congratulations on your H finally being done! I hope you guys get lots of family time this weekend! @lexidawg Can she move the air mattress to another room? Then, maybe she could make herself useful and help you get things set up. @CecilB93 I hope you and your son enjoy the show! AFM DS has a bit of a cold, so I’m not sure we will be doing much of anything this weekend. My H is working all weekend, so he can use less PTO for our Texas trip next week. They are having a charity fishing event at his work today and I had planned on taking DS, but I am going to see how he feels.
Did anyone else tear up reading the newest birth announcement or was it just me? Lol @katy0990 hope your son feels better! @PensiveCrayon congrats to your H!
AFM- were off to my SIL to take pics of DD and her cousins. I really hope she cooperated because I don’t have many pics of her professionally done that I like.
DH is gone all day. I have no idea what to do with these children, and they’re driving me nuts. I might see if there are any orchards open and take them to pick apples. Then we could make apple pie or something. Idk. I could just sit on the couch, that’s less work.
I also picked up stuff for their Halloween costumes. They want to be Dash and Violet from The Incredibles, and it’s a little uncanny how much they both resemble the characters. They keep commenting about how the baby won’t be here in time to be Jack Jack. But anyway, I need to make some Incredibles logos and affix them to shirts, and put together their masks.
@katy0990 We don't have another room to move it to or it it would be in the living room. She's also not someone who will be helpful in setting things up.
I have to laugh at how my husband’s brain works. I may have mentioned this before but Football season is what my husband lives for. We watch soooo many games, he gets mad when we have obligations during good games and boy oh boy does someone love to place bets! (I give him a cap for his debt but he does win more than he loses)
So.... guess who was up at 7 this morning?!! The hubster!! Saturday is my day to sleep in and eat donuts. So far he has steamed mopped floors, laid a new rug, gone to the grocery store with DD, working on the dishes and hard boiled eggs!! Now I should be super happy and I am but here’s his motivation. We have a wedding at 5:30 at the beach. The groom told him to bring DD, I think this is a terrible idea. It going to be hot and he is going to crush beers in the heat which means I will be chasing DD and praying she stays out of the water!! He wants to use DD as an excuse to leave early because he NEEDS to see the Ohio State game (which is my team). I also know come noon I will be in full Mom mode as DH is glued to the TV. All of his good deeds are so I can’t complain later, lol!! I am sure it will be a fun day! But I am exhausted lately and this baby in my belly never stops moving which actually gives me the feeling of car sickness at times!! This post is whiny. Lol.
@PensiveCrayon congrats to you ALL for getting through the dissertation! Enjoy your day @lexidawg it's great you are able to help our your MIL. hopefully her home ends up without too much damage and she can get back soon. @katy0990 aww, hope he feels better. If not, enjoy the time to get some rest! @Jens_Hoes good luck for some great pics! @runrinserepeat I don't have any advice, but Godspeed:)
Afm, I just got back from yoga (not prenatal, and it was really hard. My belly gets in the way of everything!). H made me coffee and an egg sandwich so I'm taking advantage of his kindness and enjoying it on the porch. It's our city's fringe fest this week so I'm hoping to go to a few shows this afternoon/evening. No other big plans:)
DH is working today, which I hate when he has to work Saturday’s, so I’m kind of cranky.
I want to sit on the couch all day, but on the other hand, I’m feeling overwhelmed looking around at my house. Everything seems so messy and cluttered, and I just want to throw it all away and start over. I also have the weird urge to make freezer meals. I didn’t “nest” until around 34 weeks with my first, so this is weird. But seriously...who wants to come to my house with some big black trash bags and help me purge?
@PensiveCrayon Yay for celebratory bike ride! Also, we go through an insane amount of eggs too. It's the only protein my DD will eat, other than green yogurt (otherwise she would live on fruit and veggies alone) so we go through a lot!
AFM, I'm going to a baby shower today for the first one due in our "maternity ward" at work. (I've shared a tiny office with two other pregnant ladies for months and we're finally getting close to our due dates! We are like the novelty of the building because all of us in the office are pregnant, we're all a month apart, due date wise, and we're all having boys. There's even a maternity ward sign on our office door, it's pretty cute.)
@maureenmce I swear it’s like the season of boys right now! I know quite a few people having babies right now, and all except for one are having boys (myself included). I went to the Prego Expo a few weeks ago where they were giving out “team boy” and “team girl” stickers, and the boy ones were almost gone when we got there. The people at the booth told me they’d never seen anything like it.
@PensiveCrayon We are actually the same way and it's just me and my husband! We go through so many eggs.
@lexidawg Fingers crossed she is able to go home soon so you can get back to baby prepping!
@CecilB93 That sounds like so much fun for your son! I bet he will love it!
@runrinserepeat Apple picking sounds like so much fun!! And I totally second what @katy0990 said about applesauce but only because my mom and I used to make it when I was growing up and it is such a great memory!
My husband and I had dinner last night with my parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew as "the last dinner before my nephew comes". He is being born Monday via c-section. So excited for them and I am very close with my family as is my husband. But man it makes me want my baby here even more. 3 1/2 years of waiting, praying, and tears AND counting. And they get number two on Monday. Come on time!
Today we will relax and then go to church. Tomorrow we'll watch football all day while I do my 24 hour urine test. Is it just me or is that test disgusting? It doesn't feel like modern medicine haha!
@CecilB93 we saw marvel live a year or two ago - it was really good! Even when my boys were little they usually did well with things like that because they were so entertained. Good luck!
@runrinserepeat apple pie does sound really good....but not if I had to make it, all the way from the start of apple picking. Now I may have to find one at a store.
@mrsm224 ugh....I’ve told DH several times I want to rent a dumpster and just throw everything we own in it. I can’t wait until cleaning my house isn’t so difficult because my belly is in the way.
I just got home from DS1’s double header. It’s 90 degrees here and it’s his first kid pitch season, so it’s so slow moving. I’m not sure I’m making it out of bed after being in the sun at the fields for 4+ hours. He did well when he pitched though! However, I have a trivia night with friends tonight, so eventually I’ll have to get up. Tomorrow is another baseball game and a wedding shower.
@lexidawg I’m sorry she wouldnt be very helpful. I have one like that, too. I hope she is able to go home soon! @LLynde5 I’m impressed by his productivity! I hope you were able to enjoy yourself at the wedding! I can completely understand your dread about chasing a toddler around on the beach, though. @morgantu Good for you for braving yoga! @mrsm224 I’ll help you purge, if you will help me make freezer meals? @maureenmce That is so fun that you all get to be pregnant together. Enjoy the shower! @mamajudec2018 congratulations on your new nephew! Your baby will be here before you know it! Also, good luck with the urine test. It sounds rough, but will hopefully yield good results! @snugglyduckling25 It is definitely way too hot to be fall! Have fun at trivia!
Type your comments for yeah, the Apple orchard didn’t happen this morning. These kids won’t listen worth a damn today, and I don’t have the energy to deal with that out in public right now. I’ll make the pastry and if we don’t go tomorrow, I’ll just buy some apples at the grocery store so I can finish my pie then.
@morgantu no worries! I don't find it necessary to actually respond to every single person, no harm done but yes! It was such a cool show and DS had a blast!
@snugglyduckling25 omg it was so much fun! The merch was all CRAZY expensive (granted we paid $21 per ticket, fairly decent imo), but I did get DS a snow cone in a Spider-Man cup, so he's happy. But man, I was happy just watching how excited he was!! When they paused for intermission, he was sitting with his arms bent up and clinched fists (does that make sense? Lol) because he was so into it and hyped up! He seriously loved it, and I love seeing his excitement. Side note: he also did very well and had no potty accidents! We went right before it started, then towards the end he told DH he needed to go during the show. I was very worried he'd be too distracted, but he still recognized the need to go! Needless to say, it was a very good morning!
@runrinserepeat apple pie all the way! I've actually been wanting some for a while, but unfortunately I can't find a GD friendly version, and my DH doesn't like pie, so it'd be up to me to eat...
@runrinserepeat I’m with @mamajudec2018 I like apple pie (with ice cream on top), but applesauce is so much easier to make with kiddos. I hate making pie crust, though, so maybe that’s why.
@CecilB93 so cute! I’m glad it went well and your DS loved it! And yes, merchandise at those things are ridiculous. We took the twins to frozen on ice for their 3rd birthday and I think paid $40 for a light up snowflake wand, each. But it was their birthday....it’s how we justified it anyway.
@PensiveCrayon hiii! My move in date moved up 3 days! I get my keys the 28 instead of Oct1. H has been extra suffocating, hovering at times. I plan on telling him in a week. I’m so overwhelmed! I moved in with him when I was 18, so I’ve never really been alone. Thank you for checking in! ❤️
This weekend has been a failure so far. Last night we got a baby sitter because we had a dinner event for h’s Work. H had quite a few drinks. I mingled for a while and then got tired of it. It was at a restaurant at a mall...so I left and went shopping. A half hour passed before h noticed i had left. Then I came back and had to be the dd because he was drunk. Yay fun...not. Then today - swim lessons cx (coach had car issues), ds1 refused to play in his soccer game (h was coaching) - I think because it was too hot (so we sat in the hot sun and watched), then I had pictures scheduled today (1st outdoor family photos I’ve ever scheduled) and the hurricane bands decided to reach us and the rain started- so we had to cancel. H has been working in his office all afternoon and I’m letting tv do my parenting.
I prefer apple crumble to apple pie, and it's easier to make since no crust is required.
@morgantu I went to non-prenatal yoga yesterday and had a hard time with a lot of the positions. I found myself in child's pose quite a bit. Oh well, I guess it's still good for me.
We are having a low key weekend. So far today we did some errands and then I took a nap. No plans for tomorrow other than to try to get some work done.
My kids insisted we buy the baby some shoes, and I’m a hormonal pregnant lady who can’t be held responsible for such things. I let them each pick a pair.
DD got knocked over by the dog while they both greeted DH on the driveway when he came home from work and proceeded to smash her head into the pavement. It made a terrible noise and we both heard it. She’s fine, kept her dinner down and no issues so I know she doesn’t have a concussion or anything but man.
@PensiveCrayon Of all the desserts out there, pie is probably my least favorite, unless it’s chocolate cream. @Activebaby I’m sorry your weekend has been a bust. I hope tomorrow is better! @flamingomomma Good luck! I hope everything goes according to plan! @Jens_Hoes I’m glad she doesn’t seem to have a concussion. How do toddlers always manage to hit their heads?!?!
@Jens_Hoes Oh no, your poor DD. I hate when they hit their heads and it makes a sound. Glad she seems to be ok though!
So, the maternity ward baby shower was super fun but how am I at the phase of pregnancy where I get so easily tired already! I was running around like a crazy person to get gifts and run errands beforehand and then spent some time in the sun and I feel like I could go to bed for the night right now! It's like 530 pm! I cannot be this easily wiped out at 28 weeks, dang.
@runrinserepeat Your kids did a great job, those shoes are adorable!
@kadeephd I am also team apple crumble! Though I am not much of a baker and have never made a crumble or a pie, haha. I do prefer eating crumble though!
@flamingomomma yay for the date being sooner! Being alone is definitely going to be an adjustment, but you can do this! If you need anything at all, please let us know. I know we're all still anonymous right now, but we can at least be a shoulder to cry on, safe place to vent, help with suggestions for whatever you may need, and who knows what else. You may be living alone after you move, but you're not alone in this
@Jens_Hoes ouch!! Glad to hear your DD seems like she's doing okay/has no concussion!
Guyyyssssssss you're making me want apple pie but...I will be baking a cake or cup cakes tomorrow, DS FINALLY pooped on the potty!! Cake was one of my bribes, and boy he hasn't forgotten lol. The only reason I'm waiting until tomorrow is because we didn't go grocery shopping today, and I'm out of milk. I'm thinking chocolate cupcakes (And no...it won't be low carb/aka GD friendly...but he's getting cake because I'm excited to try out my new icing bags I just got this week lol)
@maureenmce It is so easy to make crumbles! You can do it with any fruit. The most annoying thing is peeling the apples if you use them. Berries don't require peeling though. I made an apple/pear crumble this week and we had it with vanilla ice cream three nights in a row. Yumm.
Also, I'm with you on the tiredness. I normally have trouble sleeping during the day, but I fell asleep pretty easily after we got back from the grocery store and a few other errands this morning. I guess it will only get worse from here on in.
@Jens_Hoes Glad your daughter is OK. Kids are pretty hardy I guess! It's going to make me a nervous wreck. I am starting to feel bad for my mom as I took lots of risks and got hurt a lot as a kid.
Re: Weekend randoms 9/15-16
Also we didn’t have eggs for breakfast this morning, and considering that breakfast is pretty much my child’s only meal of the day we need to figure something out. Breakfast for lunch, ayyyy! In any case, I bring this up because our egg consumption is ridiculous. We got two dozen eggs in our grocery order on Sunday!
