Weekly Check-In (EDD 12.1 and earlier - 12.8)

How far along are you?

How are you feeling?  Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones?

Rants/Raves/Dear Diary

GTKY:  I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding.  What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?

About the same - sometimes I just feel super uncomfy it’s borderline miserable. Worries me since there’s 11 weeks left to go!

    Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
I am flying to Chicago today and my flight is delayed 2 hours for maintenance. To make matters worse this stupid woman keeps talking about how it’s 9/11. Thanks for the reminder!

GTKY:  I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding.  What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I’m looking forward to a PSL - tried to get one Sunday and they were out at the Starbucks in Target. Booo. Other than that just a glass of red wine with an amazing medium rare steak and eating my eggs over easy and dipping my bread into the runny yolk once baby girl is here.
  • @hkom Sorry to hear about the bleeding and pads (the worst)!! Glad to hear you are physically feeling better though!!! Also probably TMI but my lady parts don’t smell the freshest lately either and I’m not having any complications. I thought it was mostly from how hot it had been but the odor seems to be continuing. Don’t think it’s a yeast infection or anything ... maybe I need more sex! Ha!
  • @hkom I am pretty sure you wouldn't have been allowed to prep the yard for fall even if you got to go home this week.. How is your DH holding up? And the pets? Have you checked if they might be able to send you home for a few hours on a day pass?

  • @countrygirl624
I have been eating runny eggs anyway  :D I asked my doctor around the 3-month mark what she thought of runny eggs and she said the risks are so small that I shouldn't worry about it (think of how many soft eggs you've eaten in a lifetime and never got sick).

  • @ab_canada Are you telling me I can order eggs over easy???!!
  • @maureenmce 2.5 weeks is bearable! You can do it!
@hkom So sorry you're missing Oktoberfest - Maybe the blow will be less harsh since you can't enjoy beer right now anyway? Wishful thinking?
@ab_canada The one thing a night is such a good idea, because currently I'm accomplishing no things a night.
@countrygirl624 I've had all those things pregnant, lol!!!!! I feel ya, though! (Obvs just a couple of sips of wine.)

How are you feeling?  Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones? I have the 3rd trimester tireds.

Rants/Raves/Dear Diary Having a housewarming party for my mom on Saturday night and have not prepared for it whatsoever.  Soooo.....  yeah.  While I was typing that, I was thinking maybe I can make a crockpot full of chili and we can have a frito chili pie bar.  Mmmmmmm

GTKY:  I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding.  What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?  Lol, chili obviously and pumpkin pie!

But I have deli meat, drink coffee and have an occasional alcoholic drink.

Truth.  I was talking more in general about the whole situation outside of just this week.  I feel robbed of one of my favorite times of the year :(  H is doing well still and keeping everything under control as far as I can tell.  I'm sure it's hard on him, but he is one of the most logical/practical people I've ever met and doesn't fuss or worry about a lot, so he breezes through tough things like this a lot easier than I do.  I'm pretty sure a day pass is out of the question since I'm on medication again.

@texas_t Haha probably wishful thinking!  I look forward to it much more for the food over the beer.  I definitely always have a few hefeweizens but I really just want to stuff my face with sauerkraut and mustard covered things.

@countrygirl624 I've followed pretty much all of the food/drink rules but runny eggs are one of the things I've refused to give up.  Definitely with you on the steak and wine, though.  H's birthday dinner, which is 4 days after my due date, will probably very fancy, very rare steaks.  And definitely some red wine.

  • @kristah2 I am confused about the "depending which dates you follow". Do you mean your u/s showed the baby a little behind? Because I know u/s dating becomes less and less accurate as babies develop...

  • @maureenmce sorry to hear about the acid reflux. I know how much of a pain it is!

@hkom glad to hear you are feeling better today!

Feeling alright I suppose. My acid reflux hasn't been as bad this week, so kind of getting a relief from that. I think I'm starting to deal with the pressure on my nerves though because of random spots in my legs that are sure every now and then. Yesterday, my right hip would just suddenly get sharp stabbing pains out of nowhere. It almost made me double over every time it happened, but thankfully it only lasted for a few seconds.

    Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
Don't have anything really. Just glad to have about 12 more weeks to go! Woo!

Unfortunately I'm not a meal planner. But when it starts getting colder, I always look forward to chili. One of my favorites! :)
  • @hkom sorry about the bleeding but yay for contractions stopping! Are you near Cinci? I am in the NW point of WV where it touches OH/KY.

@kadeephd Creamy Potato Leek soup is my fave!

@kristah2 I'm jealous you have a c-section date! My Dr won't discuss til I hit 32 weeks, but I expect it to be during the last week of Nov.

Mostly old (reflux, sciatica, itchy from cholestasis, not sleeping well) but my belly seems to have dropped this week. Definitely waddling!

Rants/Raves/Dear Diary: What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I tried to start meal planning last year. I only successfully did it for 1 week. lol. The only thing I have actually planned for this week is Chicken Fajitas with fresh salsa. Might make tonight after football if I feel up to it. It takes me forever to chop everything for the salsa though, so maybe tomorrow. Looking forward to my hubby making chicken dumpling soup & chili this season. I also love all the apple & pumpkin things!

  • @AGK2015 I'm so happy for you re: your new job! Glad you have been able to experience a lot less stress with the new gig.

@hkom Omg rare steak and red wine sounds SO GOOD right now. I think my husband and I will have to go to a steak house at some point in December or January so I can indulge without reflux/pregnancy.
  • @ab_canada yup measuring 6 days behind in the 29 week ultrasound. And Canada has changed their regulations within the last couple years they HAVE to follow the dates on the earliest ultrasound (which for me, and most, is 20 weeks) so even though I’m 110% sure of my dates they have to follow baby instead. Luckily my OB is good and is going with an inbetween to cover his butt and to trust me the same time so where my section should be exactly 40 weeks it’ll be 39+5 on their dates and 40+4 on mine

@mommythlegend I am in Cincy!  Well, technically Kentucky, but only just. We're directly across the river and I can actually see the skyline from my backyard - it's maybe a mile to a mile and a half away as the crow flies.

How are you feeling?  Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones? Same old uncomfortable-ness, both at work and home.  I don't remember feeling this uncomfortable this early.

Rants/Raves/Dear Diary: I am having my SIL take pics of DD on Sunday and she is not so cooperative, so I'm praying for just ONE good picture lol

GTKY:  I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding.  What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I am the cook at home, otherwise we'd eat ramen and pb&j.
This week the menu was spaghetti and meatballs, BLT & corn, buffalo chicken quesadillas, and omelettes.  My DH is SO very picky so we can never really have anything adventurous.  And he frequently tells me he doesn't like things anymore, so they get cut off the menu but nothing new gets added.  So we have the same 10 or so meals every week.

@hkom how have your in laws and parents been dealing with you in the hospital? do they come visit/bring you stuff?
@kristah2 I know you mentioned not knowing whether you should go for VBAC or csection in some thread, do you feel better about making a decision/plan?
@AGK2015 I'm glad you are happy with your job change! That is how I felt when I left my last job. Congrats!
  • Its hard to format these questions on mobile, so that is why my responses are not formatted so nicely.
    1. How far along? 27+6 - I can’t believe it’s going so quickly (I’m actually sad about that)
    2. Feeling? Yesterday terrible but I attribute a lot of that to it being 9/11. It still really affects me and makes me feel such overwhelming sadness. I was having cramping and vomiting with a terrible headache, but today I feel better. I’m having a little more pain than I was a few weeks ago - iliac area and RLP. But overall Im doing really well and still able to exercise.
3.r/r/dd I’m worried about this storm. All of my family is in NC. We are a couple hours inland and have gone through many hurricanes, but this one is a bit worrisome. I’m in GA so I should just have rains, but I’m worried about my family and h’s. Also we have ds’s 2nd soccer game and pictures (soccer and family) and the weather is going to be crummy.
    4. Food: I’m not a meal planner. I really need to improve in this area. I have no interest in food either (except if I’m starving- which happens in 1 second). I feel
sorry for my family for my lack of food interest.
  • @Jens_Hoes At least one of my parents stops in most days!  My half-brother stopped in this morning as well.  My mom almost always brings me outside food :)  My in-laws live in western New York, so about 500 miles away, so they haven't been down here yet.  I'm actually thankful for a bit of a buffer with them (sometimes I wish I had more of one with my own parents).  They can be a bit overwhelming, although my parents can too.  My FIL retired several years ago so he has replaced all of his work energy with excessive worrying.  His current thing is that every time he talks to H and I he asks if we need money.  Which is a lovely offer, but every time we have to tell him that we are fine for the moment and have everything under control, and we'll let them know if we start having financial issues (which I don't see happening - we've already hit our deductible and are quickly approaching the out-of-pocket max, and we have a pretty big savings account that is more than able to cover my slight loss in income from being here).  I may just tell H to go ahead and let him send us a check, because I don't want to have to lay out our finances every time we talk to them.

  • @kristah2
You didn't have a dating u/s? That's so odd, since everyone knows babies start growing at different rates later on.. You are in ON, aren't you? I had 2 u/s before the anatomy scan 8 (dating) and 12 (NT scan) weeks..

  • @Jens_Hoes thanks for checking in! im still just as confused as to wht decision to make. I struggle with making a decision that’s best for my son, my body and my husband.

@ab_canada I’m on the east coast! No dating ultrasound. I never had one my first either. It’s not super common around here unless you’re unsure on your dates or you have irregular cycles. So I only had one ultrasound. I only have a second at 32 weeks to check where my placenta is. Otherwise I would have just had one!
  • @Jens_Hoes I'm with you - I've been eating runny eggs, deli meat, coffee, an occasional drink & probably other things that I am not aware of.

I have to echo @AGK2015 -- love to all of you who are struggling <3 I feel like I've had it fairly easy this pregnancy & my biggest complaint at the moment it that I am tired. I have been sleeping fine, just feels like even 10 hours of sleep isn't enough.

    Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
I have eaten an apple, handful of grapes & a good chunk of salsa for snacks this morning already. Alllll the food! And the scale is reflecting it. I think I might just dump our sweets tonight. I don't even like Oreos or twizzlers that much, but they're there and then I just eat them.
I drank some chocolate milk last night & this babe went nuts! DH could see my belly moving like crazy and then felt for a while and couldn't believe it. I'll never be less amazed by this whole process & love feeling/seeing baby move.

I have days where I just really really want to know what we are having. It's good that I don't have the option because no one knows at this point. Maybe it's a dinosaur.

GTKY: What's on deck for dinner this week?  OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I don't meal plan, but I am going to make pork tacos topped with fresh salsa tonight. I find many reasons for tacos these days.
This fall: Chili!, roast, cookies, things that make the house warm & smell nice.

  • @texas_t Omg mushrooms?! Nope nope nope. No mushrooms.  No squash of any kind.  Basically no vegetables other than onion, tomato, and chiles for me.  I can tolerate certain "secret seasonings" (mine has one!), but that's about it.

    BabyFruit Ticker

  • I LOVE mushrooms so I’m all for mushrooms in chilli!!
though whenever hubby tries I put peppers in there I tell him now he’s just making spaghetti sauce ;)
  • I like corn in chili. Is that acceptable?  :D

  • Mushrooms in chili is gross due to the texture of mushrooms when they are cooked a lot (kinda rubbery) but I put all kinds of other veggies and beans in there.  Definitely corn, usually carrots and peppers, sometimes sweet potatoes.  Granted I don't put meat in mine, so I feel like it would be a bit insubstantial if it was just tomatoes, chiles, and onion.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • H makes a standard chili recipe... green pepper, onion, tomato. I prefer mine thick over soupy tho, for sure.. and a little spicy.

One of the samples at my Trader Joe's last weekend was their canned turkey chili—MIXED WITH their frozen mac & cheese. :o I was hungry-shopping but I def bought it and we had it for dinner Monday. I think I'm going to use it for my work chili cookoff. :D:D:D
  • @maureenmce Hoping the next 2.5 weeks fly by for you at work - which it sounds like they will since it's going to be busy! Have you had any time to work on your movie lately, or will that be later?
@countrygirl624 I hope you made it to Chicago alright! Have fun!
@texas_t OMG - frito chili pie bar sounds amazing! Can I come to your mom's house-warming? I don't like a lot of "stuff" in my chili either, but I definitely prefer it with beans  Being from Texas myself, I know that's a huge no-no!
@kadeephd GL getting access to your data set. I'm sorry IT is being a bunch of jerks! I love potato leek soup! It was actually the first thing we made for our freezer prep! It's so yummy! We usually serve ours with fried onions and cheese on top.
@AGK2015 I'm so glad your new job is much better than your old job!And way to go with all your meal prep - that's awesome!
@Activebaby Hoping you and your family are all safe during the storm! Thinking of you!
