GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
Re: Weekly Check-In (EDD 12.1 and earlier - 12.8)
28 weeks today! Third tri, WOO!
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones?
I've had a major resurgence of my reflux and nausea issues the last two days and it has sucked. I have been dragging my feet about upgrading medication because there's a chance it could interfere with my thyroid (and the pepcid hasn't so far) but I may have to cave if this keeps up.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
Work is insane and will continue to be insane for the next 2.5 weeks but then I will be able to really relax so I just need to get through September.
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I am barely eating dinner at this point due to reflux, so I will look forward to feeling better at some point post birth and making spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and sausage, or chili. I've also been feeling the baking impulse, which I never feel, and have been meaning to make a pie for the first time, but haven't gotten around to it. Maybe for Thanksgiving!

I'm feeling MUCH better today than I have been. They've slowed/eased my contractions down to almost nothing, and most of the pain that had been associated with them is gone. Still very sad about being here, but hoping they can keep the baby in for a few more weeks.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
Coming to the realization and acceptance that I'm going to be missing Cincinnati's Oktoberfest next weekend. It's the second biggest Oktoberfest in the world, and one of my favorite weekends of the year. This will be the first time I've missed it in like 7 or 8 years.
Also very bummed that the weather is taking a major turn next week and the highs will only be in the 60s. I want to be able to prep the yard for fall and buy mums and stuff to put on the porch but it looks like that isn't going to happen
I'm glad I missed the misery that is August and early September in the Ohio valley, but if I miss most of fall I'm gonna be very upset about it.
ALSO, I'm having to wear pads from the bleeding from the ultrasounds and cervical checks, and I feel like I smell terrible from it. It smells like menstrual blood, but the pads seem to make it so much worse. I'm just hoping it's only me who can detect it and everyone else isn't cringing when they walk into the room.
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I'm not going to be planning any meals in the near future, other than what takeout H gets to bring me once a week.
I've had my eye on this apple sorghum cake in one of my cookbooks, and I'll probably make that as soon as I'm out of here and able to be active and once we start getting apples from either local orchards or from H's parents' orchard in WNY.
We are also due to make and can tomato sauce at some point. We've been freezing the pulp throughout the summer, but our chest freezer is currently completely full, so H may have to make a batch this weekend by himself.
Ouch, I am sorry that you have been feeling nausea. It seems so unfair for the third trimester.
How far along are you?

How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones?
I've resigned to only being able to accomplish one thing per night because I get so tired after work. So I tell myself to just do that one thing and then go crash on the couch for a bit or go straight to bed.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
I had my first pouty/almost cry episode over food yesterday. I wanted something like tortellini in tomato sauce for dinner, so I went to the store to buy some. Except they had nothing like that - only 23 kinds of lasagnas. I just kept staring at the shelves lost.. Anyway, went home empty-handed, but DH saved the day because we had a package in the freezer! It was delicious. And it turned out I was looking in the wrong section of the store. I should have looked in the refrigerated section, not frozen.
GTKY: What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
Well, I have to make Borsch tonight or tomorrow (Ukrainian beet soup) because most of the ingredients are prepped and sitting in the fridge. They might go bad if I don't do something soon!
28 weeks 3 days

About the same - sometimes I just feel super uncomfy it’s borderline miserable. Worries me since there’s 11 weeks left to go!
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
I am flying to Chicago today and my flight is delayed 2 hours for maintenance. To make matters worse this stupid woman keeps talking about how it’s 9/11. Thanks for the reminder!
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I’m looking forward to a PSL - tried to get one Sunday and they were out at the Starbucks in Target. Booo. Other than that just a glass of red wine with an amazing medium rare steak and eating my eggs over easy and dipping my bread into the runny yolk once baby girl is here.
I have been eating runny eggs anyway
@hkom So sorry you're missing Oktoberfest - Maybe the blow will be less harsh since you can't enjoy beer right now anyway? Wishful thinking?
@ab_canada The one thing a night is such a good idea, because currently I'm accomplishing no things a night.
@countrygirl624 I've had all those things pregnant, lol!!!!! I feel ya, though! (Obvs just a couple of sips of wine.)
How far along are you? 28w2d
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones? I have the 3rd trimester tireds.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary Having a housewarming party for my mom on Saturday night and have not prepared for it whatsoever. Soooo..... yeah. While I was typing that, I was thinking maybe I can make a crockpot full of chili and we can have a frito chili pie bar. Mmmmmmm
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall? Lol, chili obviously and pumpkin pie!

But I have deli meat, drink coffee and have an occasional alcoholic drink.
@texas_t Haha probably wishful thinking! I look forward to it much more for the food over the beer. I definitely always have a few hefeweizens but I really just want to stuff my face with sauerkraut and mustard covered things.
@countrygirl624 I've followed pretty much all of the food/drink rules but runny eggs are one of the things I've refused to give up. Definitely with you on the steak and wine, though. H's birthday dinner, which is 4 days after my due date, will probably very fancy, very rare steaks. And definitely some red wine.
28+2 or 27+3 depending on which date you follow now. Sigh.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones?
Sleep is getting harder and I toss and turn A LOT. movement is ramping up but that’s my favourite part of pregnancy.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
My C-Section is booked for dec 6!
If I try VBAC but don’t go naturally then baby girl will be here that day at the latest!
If I decide to schedule a section it’ll be a couple be weeks earlier. Crazy to think she will be here so soon.
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
nothing specific. H usually does all the cooking but I’m off this week so I’m on supper duty. It’ll be whatever is easy because I’m definitely not a good cook.
How am I feeling? Lucky. I've had a little reflux, and I'm definitely waddling and uncomfortable, but I've had it much easier than others, and even somewhat easier than I did with my first. I wish everybody else was having the same luck; sending lots of love to those of you who are struggling
Rants/Raves: It's genuinely incredible how much better life is since I left my last job. I can't necessarily say I'm sleeping better (I can't roll over without waking up to give myself more leverage), but no nightmares! No dreading mornings! No insomnia because the quicker I go to bed the quicker the next work day arrives! That's not to say the new job is easy or stress free, but it's so much better.
Foooooood: We're just getting back into the swing of meal planning this week. Tonight was supposed to be chicken tikka ma-sorta, but we forgot that it's curriculum night at daycare, so that might not happen after all. Chicken parm is scheduled for tomorrow, then pizza on Thursday and leftovers Friday. I did a lot of prep work last night (made yogurt, made lots of pizza dough and froze some, put the marinara together, slapped together the spice mix for tonight, and froze a big batch of pesto for later), so I'm pretty proud of myself, even if we do all end up eating PBJs late tonight.
@hkom glad to hear you are feeling better today!

How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones?
Feeling alright I suppose. My acid reflux hasn't been as bad this week, so kind of getting a relief from that. I think I'm starting to deal with the pressure on my nerves though because of random spots in my legs that are sure every now and then. Yesterday, my right hip would just suddenly get sharp stabbing pains out of nowhere. It almost made me double over every time it happened, but thankfully it only lasted for a few seconds.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
Don't have anything really. Just glad to have about 12 more weeks to go! Woo!
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
Unfortunately I'm not a meal planner. But when it starts getting colder, I always look forward to chili. One of my favorites!
@kadeephd Creamy Potato Leek soup is my fave!
@kristah2 I'm jealous you have a c-section date! My Dr won't discuss til I hit 32 weeks, but I expect it to be during the last week of Nov.

Mostly old (reflux, sciatica, itchy from cholestasis, not sleeping well) but my belly seems to have dropped this week. Definitely waddling!
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary: What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I tried to start meal planning last year. I only successfully did it for 1 week. lol. The only thing I have actually planned for this week is Chicken Fajitas with fresh salsa. Might make tonight after football if I feel up to it. It takes me forever to chop everything for the salsa though, so maybe tomorrow. Looking forward to my hubby making chicken dumpling soup & chili this season. I also love all the apple & pumpkin things!
@hkom Omg rare steak and red wine sounds SO GOOD right now. I think my husband and I will have to go to a steak house at some point in December or January so I can indulge without reflux/pregnancy.
How are you feeling? Any new symptoms or still-annoying old ones? Same old uncomfortable-ness, both at work and home. I don't remember feeling this uncomfortable this early.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary: I am having my SIL take pics of DD on Sunday and she is not so cooperative, so I'm praying for just ONE good picture lol
GTKY: I'm stealing from the other check-ins, but also adding. What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I am the cook at home, otherwise we'd eat ramen and pb&j.
This week the menu was spaghetti and meatballs, BLT & corn, buffalo chicken quesadillas, and omelettes. My DH is SO very picky so we can never really have anything adventurous. And he frequently tells me he doesn't like things anymore, so they get cut off the menu but nothing new gets added. So we have the same 10 or so meals every week.
@hkom how have your in laws and parents been dealing with you in the hospital? do they come visit/bring you stuff?
@kristah2 I know you mentioned not knowing whether you should go for VBAC or csection in some thread, do you feel better about making a decision/plan?
@AGK2015 I'm glad you are happy with your job change! That is how I felt when I left my last job. Congrats!
1. How far along? 27+6 - I can’t believe it’s going so quickly (I’m actually sad about that)
2. Feeling? Yesterday terrible but I attribute a lot of that to it being 9/11. It still really affects me and makes me feel such overwhelming sadness. I was having cramping and vomiting with a terrible headache, but today I feel better. I’m having a little more pain than I was a few weeks ago - iliac area and RLP. But overall Im doing really well and still able to exercise.
3.r/r/dd I’m worried about this storm. All of my family is in NC. We are a couple hours inland and have gone through many hurricanes, but this one is a bit worrisome. I’m in GA so I should just have rains, but I’m worried about my family and h’s. Also we have ds’s 2nd soccer game and pictures (soccer and family) and the weather is going to be crummy.
4. Food: I’m not a meal planner. I really need to improve in this area. I have no interest in food either (except if I’m starving- which happens in 1 second). I feel
sorry for my family for my lack of food interest.
You didn't have a dating u/s? That's so odd, since everyone knows babies start growing at different rates later on.. You are in ON, aren't you? I had 2 u/s before the anatomy scan 8 (dating) and 12 (NT scan) weeks..
@ab_canada I’m on the east coast! No dating ultrasound. I never had one my first either. It’s not super common around here unless you’re unsure on your dates or you have irregular cycles. So I only had one ultrasound. I only have a second at 32 weeks to check where my placenta is. Otherwise I would have just had one!

Rants/Raves/Dear Diary
I have eaten an apple, handful of grapes & a good chunk of salsa for snacks this morning already. Alllll the food! And the scale is reflecting it. I think I might just dump our sweets tonight. I don't even like Oreos or twizzlers that much, but they're there and then I just eat them.
I drank some chocolate milk last night & this babe went nuts! DH could see my belly moving like crazy and then felt for a while and couldn't believe it. I'll never be less amazed by this whole process & love feeling/seeing baby move.
I have days where I just really really want to know what we are having. It's good that I don't have the option because no one knows at this point. Maybe it's a dinosaur.
GTKY: What's on deck for dinner this week? OR if you're not a weekly meal planner, is there something you are looking forward to making/eating this fall?
I don't meal plan, but I am going to make pork tacos topped with fresh salsa tonight. I find many reasons for tacos these days.
This fall: Chili!, roast, cookies, things that make the house warm & smell nice.

though whenever hubby tries I put peppers in there I tell him now he’s just making spaghetti sauce
One of the samples at my Trader Joe's last weekend was their canned turkey chili—MIXED WITH their frozen mac & cheese.
@countrygirl624 I hope you made it to Chicago alright! Have fun!
@texas_t OMG - frito chili pie bar sounds amazing! Can I come to your mom's house-warming? I don't like a lot of "stuff" in my chili either, but I definitely prefer it with beans
@kadeephd GL getting access to your data set. I'm sorry IT is being a bunch of jerks! I love potato leek soup! It was actually the first thing we made for our freezer prep! It's so yummy! We usually serve ours with fried onions and cheese on top.
@AGK2015 I'm so glad your new job is much better than your old job!And way to go with all your meal prep - that's awesome!
@Activebaby Hoping you and your family are all safe during the storm! Thinking of you!
@hoosiermama-2 Chili and mac and cheese = major deliciousness!
