Now that many of us have started visiting the OB on a weekly basis, the group has agreed to provide details of their check-ups in place of the Weekly Ticker Change threads. So, tell us about your appointments!
So there appears to have been a bit of discrepancy between what one of the doctors in the MFM clinic ordered and what they've been doing when I go. I have a BPP scheduled tomorrow and supposedly a growth scan, but I don't know if they're doing it or not. Midwife is on Thursday and she wants to check my cervix in the event of an induction. We have nothing bought for baby yet. The drama of the closing/move was all we could focus on until recently. I hope baby can stay in a little while longer, but I know he/she is in good hands if an early delivery is necessary.
Next appointment is Friday with birth center midwife and then next Monday is with the hospital midwife ... Because I am to lazy to fully transfer care to the midwife. Monday I have the swab and not looking forward to that. Our bathroom is torn apart so I need to plan enough time to hit my mother in laws for a shower as well as enough time to get out of there (she is a talker) and to my appointment. Also get another growth scan on Monday, we will see what they have to say about baby size. Not too worried as know they aren't exact!
So I fully expected I would be silent here until next week, then I go to every 2 weeks. But baby had other plans. I'm currently in the hospital because my water broke at dinner. Fun *sarcasm* I'm only 32w2d so the goal is hospitalized bed rest and keep me pregnant until 34w. Baby is currently breech. There's a chance, small, that they will flip. If it does I'll be induced then, if still breech I'll have a c-section. They said risk of infection is higher after 34w than the benefit of staying pregnant. So I think I'll be around a lot the next 2 weeks!
My next appt is on friday (35w) and i'm still going through the OB rotation (they have you visit each doc in the practice in case they are on call when you deliver). There was talk about adjusting my blood thinners from lovenox to heparin, but since i'm not seeing my actual OB this week i'm curious if they'll wait until next week? Also talk of induction at 38-39 weeks to better control for PPH and bleeding issues but I'm hoping we get a chance to discuss pros/cons and see if they'll let me just go on my own.
The downside of being due at the end of the month (10/31)...I'm still on monthly appointments lol. Hopefully Friday will be my last monthly and then I'll switch to every 2 weeks. Not that I want to go in more often, but eh just to feel its getting closer!
For some reason I have an irrational fear of my water breaking at a very inconvenient time though so far I've only had 1 out of 4 pregnancies where my water actually broke on its own.
@mylitta thinking of you and LO! @dellusion do you know why they'd contemplate switching your blood thinner? I really wanted to go back to eliquis post baby, but apparently you can't breastfeed on it. Womp.
I started tagging, but it's too much. Thanks you guys! It sucks but we're doing well so far. Just had an US so we'll see the results. Baby is still breech but I hope I have time. I'm not leaking as much, so of course I'm now worried about fluid levels and the tech can't say anything to help with that. She answered about breech, but said the radiologist would have to look when I asked if there was fluid.
This thread has me excited that we are all getting so close (this also freaks me out lol). For some reason I am way more intimidated to go from one baby to two than I was to have my first.
My last Dr. appointment went really well and the Dr. was very optimistic about a VBAC, which was a pleasant surprise. I can't believe we are all in the final stretch or very close to it.
I had a good NST yesterday, have a growth scan and OB appointment tomorrow and a NST on Thursday. My work lunches have become non existent since I started my NSTs!
I was planning to post an update for my appointment this afternoon but yesterday after we went to the zoo I wasn’t feeling well. I was having cramping all day. I thought it was BH. I woke up at 1am in a pool of blood. We rushed to L&D. Got a steroid shot. Preterm labor but everything looks ok. To make a long story short the plan is to get the second steroid shot at the 24 hour mark (3-4am) and stay here to be reassessed after. They won’t stop contractions this late in the game. 35 +2.
@ummibtihaj I have the same fear! I am 34 weeks tomorrow and I was just thinking should I start putting towels down in my car and at my desk at work!! lol my water didn't break with my first but I remember having the same worries then too.
@Mylitta keeping you guys in my thoughts! @meltonjl I actually had a dream last night that I was pregnant, but started bleeding like my period. So that's kind of freaky now, after hearing your story. Hopefully all stays well with you!
I don't have any appts this week, but had my 34-week this last Friday. I'm kind of trying to get an idea from them about what to expect due to my having GD. It's very well-controlled, so I'm not sure if they're really worried about inducing or not. Plus, baby was running pretty small at the growth scan at 32 wks (I'm more worried about her falling behind even more, but the doc wasn't worried yet). I feel like I really haven't gotten a straight answer, but I'm guessing they're seeing how everything progresses. I have another growth scan at 36 weeks (next week) and I believe we'll start NSTs, so I'm guessing we'll get a pretty good idea after that. Just have to be patient until then.
Had my last monthly check up today at 34 week OB. Baby’s HR is 145 and I’m measuring right on.
We talked about delivery and I’m nervous
He really would like to do a c-section at 39 weeks due to my last delivery having complications. If I choose to deliver vaginally they will monitor baby very close.
Am I being selfish by not wanting to get a c-section?? He didn’t make me feel like I was putting myself or baby at risk.
My first was born with a brachial plexus injury (Erbs palsy) because she became stuck during delivery. I almost needed a c-section, but was able to deliver. When she was born she couldn’t move her left arm but it has healed and she’s perfectly fine. I was then told my birth canal is too narrow (after delivery). He told me women with previous deliveries like mine they do c-sections since the injury can happen again and can be permanent. Plus just to make sure we are both safe and healthy.
I don’t know what to do. He told me it’s something to think about.
@Mylitta@meltonjl So sorry to hear you're both in the hospital and have had quite the eventful 24 hours. Keep us updated on the progress of your babes and let us know if we can offer any type of support
I now see my OB weeky and the MFM for 2x weekly NST and fluid checks. Everything has been measuring fine and he passes the tests- and hes finally head down so I'm relieved. I also send my blood sugars to my endo weekly and she updates my dosage or tells me to stay the same. My sugars have been climbing but she is not making any increases. I am feeling frustrated bc I am hungry all the time but scared to eat bc my sugars are high. (For those of you not on the GD thread, I actually have type 1, but was diagnosed about 3 months before getting pregnant- so I am still learning.) and up until a month or so ago my sugars were perfectly in control. So maybe what I see as wildly high isn't actually, but I am scared nonetheless. I really want an epidural free vaginal delivery....so as few complications as possible would help. Anyway I see my endo in person this thurs, OB on Friday, and next full growth scan 1 week from today. at my last growth scan he was measuring 3 weeks ahead...so I'm anxious to see. Still planning to induce between 37-38 weeks so thats about 2 weeks away.....getting antsy for sure.

@mylitta hope baby stays put for you and flips too! Fingers crossed for an uneventful 2 weeks.

I don’t have any medical appointments this week (weird!) but I do have an acupuncture appointment today.

Sounds like we sure do have a fiesty group of little ones on our hands!!
After hearing this I am definitely getting my hospital bag started today!
Luckily my appt was pretty boring. 32 weeks so just belly measurements. Everything is on track so far.
