Weekly OB Appointment Check-In: Week of September 3-9

Now that many of us have started visiting the OB on a weekly basis, the group has agreed to provide details of their check-ups in place of the Weekly Ticker Change threads. So, tell us about your appointments!

  • @Mylitta I hope things go smoothly and they stay in a little longer!!
  • @Mylitta sending good vibes little one stays put for a bit longer!!!
  • @Mylitta hoping LO stays put for a few weeks!! Thinking of you!

  • @mylitta hope baby stays put for you and flips too! Fingers crossed for an uneventful 2 weeks.
  • thinking of you @Mylitta!!

My next appt is on friday (35w) and i'm still going through the OB rotation (they have you visit each doc in the practice in case they are on call when you deliver). There was talk about adjusting my blood thinners from lovenox to heparin, but since i'm not seeing my actual OB this week i'm curious if they'll wait until next week?  Also talk of induction at 38-39 weeks to better control for PPH and bleeding issues but I'm hoping we get a chance to discuss pros/cons and see if they'll let me just go on my own.

  • Oh no @Mylitta, what a surprise that must have been! Hoping that baby stays put and flips!
  • The downside of being due at the end of the month (10/31)...I'm still on monthly appointments lol.  Hopefully Friday will be my last monthly and then I'll switch to every 2 weeks.  Not that I want to go in more often, but eh just to feel its getting closer!

  • @Mylitta oh wow! That must have been a shock. I hope baby stays put a bit longer for you.
  • @mylitta thinking of you and baby! Hopefully things go well and you're able to keep LO in there!
  • @Mylitta sending positive vibes to you and baby!
  • Oh my what a surprise! FX baby stays put until 34 weeks!
  • @Mylitta hoping baby flips and stays put!

For some reason I have an irrational fear of my water breaking at a very inconvenient time though so far I've only had 1 out of 4 pregnancies where my water actually broke on its own.
  • @Mylitta fingers crossed baby hangs out on the inside for a while yet!

I don’t have any medical appointments this week (weird!) but I do have an acupuncture appointment today.

  • @Mylitta thinking about you and baby and hoping for an uneventful, but as long as possible, stay!
  • @mylitta thinking of you and LO!
@dellusion do you know why they'd contemplate switching your blood thinner? I really wanted to go back to eliquis post baby, but apparently you can't breastfeed on it. Womp.
  • @Mylitta hope you can take it easy and keep baby in there a bit longer! Keep us posted!
  • @Mylitta- Sounds like quite the surprise!  Hoping baby flips and holds out until 34 weeks!  Good luck on hospital bedrest.  I'm sure that's rough!
  • @mylitta hoping your fluid levels are ok and baby can stay put for a while longer!
  • I had a good NST yesterday, have a growth scan and OB appointment tomorrow and a NST on Thursday. My work lunches have become non existent since I started my NSTs!
  • @Mylitta Wow what a surprise! Get some rest and I hope the baby stays put for a few more weeks! Thinking of you!

  • @meltonjl they don’t bother with steroids here after 34 weeks. There’s no indication they’re helpful after that gestation.

  • @meltonjl keeping you and baby in my thoughts!

@ummibtihaj  I have the same fear! I am 34 weeks tomorrow and I was just thinking should I start putting towels down in my car and at my desk at work!! lol my water didn't break with my first but I remember having the same worries then too.

  • @meltonjl thinking of you and sending you and baby healthy, happy wishes!
  • @meltonjl oh boy! Thinking of you and hoping for the best! Keep us posted!!
  • @Mylitta keeping you guys in my thoughts! @meltonjl I actually had a dream last night that I was pregnant, but started bleeding like my period. So that's kind of freaky now, after hearing your story. Hopefully all stays well with you!

I don't have any appts this week, but had my 34-week this last Friday. I'm kind of trying to get an idea from them about what to expect due to my having GD. It's very well-controlled, so I'm not sure if they're really worried about inducing or not. Plus, baby was running pretty small at the growth scan at 32 wks (I'm more worried about her falling behind even more, but the doc wasn't worried yet). I feel like I really haven't gotten a straight answer, but I'm guessing they're seeing how everything progresses. I have another growth scan at 36 weeks (next week) and I believe we'll start NSTs, so I'm guessing we'll get a pretty good idea after that. Just have to be patient until then.
  • @meltonjl Glad to hear you and baby are doing ok, thinking of you!!

Sounds like we sure do have a fiesty group of little ones on our hands!!

  • Had my last monthly check up today at 34 week OB. Baby’s HR is 145 and I’m measuring right on.
We talked about delivery and I’m nervous :/
He really would like to do a c-section at 39 weeks due to my last delivery having complications. If I choose to deliver vaginally they will monitor baby very close.
Am I being selfish by not wanting to get a c-section?? He didn’t make me feel like I was putting myself or baby at risk.

My first was born with a brachial plexus injury (Erbs palsy) because she became stuck during delivery. I almost needed a c-section, but was able to deliver. When she was born she couldn’t move her left arm but it has healed and she’s perfectly fine. I was then told my birth canal is too narrow (after delivery). He told me women with previous deliveries like mine they do c-sections since the injury can happen again and can be permanent. Plus just to make sure we are both safe and healthy.

I don’t know what to do. He told me it’s something to think about.  :(
  • @mylitta @meltonjl will be thinking of you guys!
  • @meltonjl- That must have been quire a scare!  I hope everything goes well from here.
  • @Mylitta @meltonjl
