  • @Katzalia That's the wedge I have!  I have the exact same set-up as you!  At least when I'm at home.  I'm still trying to configure everything here to keep me from rolling onto my back while I'm asleep.

  • @katzalia I also have a pillow system.  Mine is the snoogle with my back towards the pillow part, with additional pillows between my legs, on the top to rest my head on, and under my belly in the front.  Basically I am surrounded by pillows.  My husband has complained about the amount of space I am taking up.

  • @kristah2 For me, they are well worth the price. I have gotten a pair of the matte black ones on my birthday for the last 3 years and I wear them basically every day to work. The last month or so before I replace them they look a little beat up but compared to other black flats I've purchased, they last so much longer and they rarely ever smell. They take a little getting used to when you first switch to them because of the split sole but I've found them to be more much comfortable than other flats. I would probably not spend the money on some of the other colors/prints because I wouldn't wear them as much but for how often I wear the black ones, definitely worth it.

    Re: Tieks
I live in Tieks too! I have...five pairs because when I find something I love I buy several of them.
They’re comfortable for me until my feet start swelling - that only really happens at the end of the day though. If I know that I’m going to be on my feet a lot I go straight for the sneakers for the support and I’m always surprised that my standing stamina has increased.
Can’t speak about flip flops though, I only wear those when washing my car (that I desperately need to do actually).

  • I am doing multiple smaller pillows every where as well. Sometimes under belly, under back or between knees depending. Also this past weekend a burp became actual throw up in my mouth! Yuck!!! Thank goodness that only happened once. Not sure this is a symptom but baby is getting big enough I can feel and see body parts sticking outside of my belly. Like the left side of my belly was noticeably a ball about 3” taller than the right side. Pretty sure it was her head! Felt weird and freaked me out. I moved over to my right side and she did too to even me out. Also - when she kicks my side sometimes when I put my hand there I can feel the outline of her foot. So crazy!!!
  • Can anyone describe what RLP feels like? I walked around a bunch this weekend and had these cramps on either side of my stomach that were almost like when you get a "stitch in your side" from too much exercise.

  • @binxybaby For me it’s like a sudden snap of pain that happens when I shift positions too quickly or something. Goes away after a couple intense seconds.

  • @binxybaby Mine is the same as Pensive described. Like it will take you to your knees.  I have, however, had what you're describing and I think it could be growing pains! Our uteri (lol, plural?) are getting awfully big!

  • @binxybaby
I feel RLP in the lower abdomen, but I am not sure if that's the only place you can get it. I did get the "stitches" feeling a couple of weeks ago after we went riding up a rough section of a trail in a UTV. I figured my abs were working hard to stabilize me, which is why I got the pain. They went away pretty much after the rough section was over. So I would say that a long walk can probably trigger that, but it should get better fairly quickly. If not, call your doctor - maybe you pulled something.

  • @binxybaby   I was experiencing the same pains that you are describing a few weeks ago when I would walk too quickly. I asked my OB about them and she indicated that that is also a type of RLP.
  • Thanks for the info, ladies. I'm thinking it was more likely strain from exerting myself like @ab_canada mentioned. It makes sense my body would be working harder with this little dude on board.

  • @binxybaby I haven’t gotten it this time but I remember having that pain my last pregnancy when I would walk to work. I just had to rest and it would go away. I do think it’s from over exertion so I would just try to slow down a bit when that happens.

  • @echo-charlietango I have no clue how long she's been that way! I had ultrasounds 1 week apart from each other and in one she was breech and the other she was head down. I've mostly felt her down lower in my uterus, but with the occasional side of the belly when I'm laying on my side. I just imagine her doing flips in there and constantly changing, since she's not big enough to get stuck in one position yet. Haha!

  • @lippy625 Last pregnancy I wore flip flops all summer & swelled like a whale from 16 weeks on I had to wear compression socks. This pregnancy I've been much better about taking care of my feet & wear tennis shoes daily to work. I also haven't been walking in the evenings like I did with DS because he's on the outside and only allows so much walking before "PARK MAMA PARK MAMA PARK", but I do think the shoes have helped me tremendously. I hope your heels feel better soon and with different shoes!
@hannelorre My doctor suggested daily miralax along with my daily metamucil and that has helped me a lot. I didn't realize it's safe to take that much, but she said if I get desperate to put a bunch in gatorade like they do to clean out for a colonoscopy, so I feel much better about it & am going better! I've been drinking that in the evenings.

+1 for all of the sudden feeling so full & large. I remember around 28-29 weeks feeling this way with DS too. It's like the point where baby hits me on both ends and my insides are really starting to get squished.

  • @hkom Yes to the hiccups! I didn't realize what they were at first - I just assumed they were kicks or punches. But then when I noticed they were very rhythmic and not sporadic like kicks, I realized what they were! They're so fun!

@echo-charlietango Add me to the emotional train! I'm usually a little emotional anyways, over things like sad animal adoption commercials and such, but I'm on a whole other level these days! We were at IKEA a couple weekends ago and tears started flowing at the cash register! IKEA is pretty overwhelming to me to begin with, especially since we don't have one close to us so we've only been two other times. This time, I got into a "no cash" line without realizing it. After the cashier rang everything in and gave us the price, I pulled out my cash and started counting. He reminded me (in a perfectly nice way, no less), that that lane only accepted credit. I felt so silly and like I was holding everyone up. Cue: all the tears! It was bad!

@omnommer Sorry you have so many things going on right now! A pinched nerve sounds so awful! I hope your arm is feeling better! I've definitely moved on to squatting instead of bending over!

AFM - I woke up Sunday to a huge knot tightening in my calf. The pain was so intense for a couple of minutes. It's still lingering and I just wish it would loosen up. Leg cramps in general have been one of my only consistent pregnancy symptoms. Most nights I felt like a knot was coming and if I just moved my leg a particular way it would tighten up. Sunday was the first time it actually did though! Besides mouth pain, calf knots are the worst (until I give birth, I'm sure )

  • @katy0990 right now taking colace twice a day. I might up that.

@temmetime I'll see if i can increase miralax too - right now I'm mixing it with apple juice. Metamucil is the next one on the list!
  • @texas_t I don’t see anything wrong with that, but if anyone comments, blame the baby!
  • @whitneyb89 I had that exact issue with DS3 and it never fully went away. I've noticed it getting worse again this pregnancy and it definitely correlates with my acid reflux getting worse. Gonna up my zantac and try to get it sorted out for good once he's born 'cause its super annoying!

+1 on all the pillows. I've got 2 plus a snoogle and as of yesterday DH's extra pillow is officially mine, lol. A wedge pillow might not be a bad idea for under the tummy, I've definitely been waking up sore/crampy if I lay on one side for too long.

AFM, same stuff as usual. Hot, tired, large. Acid reflux on and off that zantac mostly helps. Headaches and hip pain. oh, and here's a fun new one: hemorrhoids  :o:'( . It's a good thing we get cute squishy new babies out of this deal because pregnancy sucks.

  • Thanks @temmetime! I'm definitely going to stop reaching for my flip flops and start wearing shoes with better support. I'm the girl who wears flip flops in New England until it snows soooo it's going to be a difficult transition for me haha Even after one day of wearing my Tieks to work yesterday though I noticed a slight improvement so it's got to be the flip flops.
  • @Katzalia do you recommend the wedge over the big pregnancy pillows? I never used with my boys but I just can't take not having something this time around my hips burn at night when I sleep. I need something just not sure what

As for belly wedges/pregnancy pillows, I wrap the long end of my Snuggle around my back and stick the bottom of the C underneath my belly to prop it up a bit. I'm 5'4'' so maybe it wouldn't work for taller people.

I'm waiting on a call from my midwife after the nurse asked me like 10 minutes of questions. I've been having rectal pain on and off for a bit of the day... only while sitting. No spotting or extra discharge or other pain/pressure. I'm super confused by it and thought it'd be good to get the midwife's opinion. If it were hemorrhoids or something more serious, wouldn't it be feeling that way no matter how I was positioned? Anyways, I'll update you all with what the midwife says. Anyone else feeling rectal pain? Could it just be the position of the baby? I didn't know this was a pregnancy thing!

  • @omnommer I think SPD can cause rectal pain. Look up symptoms of SPD and see if maybe you have others?

  • @omnommer I have hemorrhoids that have been bothering me slightly but it’s not constant. I also get tail bone pain when I sit too long. Is it similar to that?
  • @texas_t Looks like it could be SPD, but I'll watch it and check if/when it happens again. That makes the most sense to me out of anything. So far, the pain went away... after intermittent light pain while at my desk for 2-3 hours today.

@Jens_Hoes I get tailbone pain every six months or so. It's definitely a bit deeper than that. The tailbone pain tends to be from pressing on one specific place if I bruise that spot again. I've never had hemorrhoids, so I suppose they could check at my next appt and see if it's that!

  • @omnommer I get anus pain from time to time that I've self-diagnosed as proctalgia fugax. But it's not pregnancy-related -- I've been experiencing it for as long as I can remember, and its appearance is totally random (AND UNWANTED, I MIGHT ADD). It tends to wake me up in the middle of the night and take several hours to go away, unless I treat it right away with ibuprofen.

  • @mcgeeva I don’t know if the belly wedge would help with your hip pain but maybe? A friend pased it on to me and I started using it a couple weeks ago when my belly started really popping. If supporting your belly helps with hip pain, then it might be worth a try.
  • Holy constipation. I’ve been a bit constipated most of the pregnancy. It hasn’t ever been noteworthy. I don’t eat a lot of meat, so I eat beans basically every day, so idk what it is. But serious poop from hell this evening. I’ll spare you all the TMI details, but it was one of those situations, in life, where I was like if I can’t macgyver my way out of this I’m going to the ER.

So, about that Metamucil... is that what the cool kids are taking?
  • @tumbleweed-1 3 colace/day really does the trick for me!
  • @tumbleweed-1 Colace does nothing for me unfortunately.  Metamucil or Miralax is the only thing that helps me at all.

  • @mcgeeva The wedge helps my hip pain!
@tumbleweed-1 I'm glad you didn't end up in the ER!!! That's how my post C-section poo was! I take fiber gummies, but since it already seems like you get a lot of fiber, you may need to skip directly to colace or miralax!

  • OMG where do I start? I'm 27 weeks.....it kind of astonishes me to say that. I've been having round ligament pain and back pain, but I am told I am carrying low. I get woken up almost every night with the worst leg cramps, and not the calf cramps you can walk off, no. These are on the outsides of my legs above my ankles and cause my feet to cramp as well. I usually have to stand a specific way for them to go away. I've also been teaching myself to intentionally relax when I get them and that helps sometimes. I'm hoping that idea will help when it comes to labor contractions if the feeling is similar in my stomach.
  • @katy0990 @hkom and @texas_t thanks for your suggestions! I’ll be going to the store after work tomorrow and finding a selection of otc remedies
