Re: Week 4 check-in (8/20)

  • Due date: 3/29

Any appointments? Questions?: FINALLY have one next Monday! It cannot come soon enough <3

Rants/Raves?: I swear I was not this big of a bundle of nerves for something to go wrong with my first pregnancy...wtf. Really hoping they check for a heartbeat next week.

How are you feeling?: Overall not too bad? Still have some days with ridiculous fatigue, feel winded a lot quicker than pre-BFP, and I've been having episodes of feeling like I'm starving so I eat and then I feel sick after eating. That feeling could end anytime now ;)

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I can say all 50 states in order in under 20 seconds .... thank you grade school states song lol

Any appointments? Questions?: Had my ultrasound today and everything looked great...such a relief!!! Now it’s really setting in and I’m nervous/excited/still freaking out a bit

Rants/Raves?: Hubby is thinking about a promotion...would require varying shifts but also one week off a month. So we are weighing the pros and cons especially with the fact that we’re about to have 3 kids

How are you feeling?: pretty good. Still nauseous throughout most of the day and I’m a bit snappy
  • Due date: 29

Any appointments? Questions?: not this week, fingers crossed

     Rants/Raves?: nope

How are you feeling?: Awful, though I’m sure there are others who have it harder than me. I’ve still been spotting, so my midwife (well, back up since mine is on vacation this month) sent me for blood work, my progesterone was at 8, and she would like to see at least 12. So I was put on a pill instead of continuing the over the counter cream I had been using. Then the spotting got even worse, so they sent me for an ultrasound, which is not something I wanted to do. The tech was very frustrating, and would not listen to me about my guess date because my LMP didn’t match up. We had a bit of a spat about it, and then, surprise surprise, the baby was measuring exactly what I said it would. I don’t want my due date to limit me at the end, but at least I have some amount of proof that I was right. Then she took for-ev-er. I guess because it was ordered “stat” she had to take all sorts of other measurements, including my ovaries and stuff.  it was really a very frustrating experience, probably because I didn’t want to do it to begin with. It -was- reassuring to see that there is, indeed, something there and it even has a heartbeat, but I do not want to repeat it, if I can manage it...and I definitely won’t be going back there for my 20 week scan.  Anyway, now I’ve been on the pill for almost a week and I’m so flat exhausted and my stomach hurts. It’s not really a nauseous feeling, but just stomach pain. I did stand over a toilet last night but nothing came out. Burping helps make it feel better. I definitely feel much different this time than I did with my girls.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent?
I don’t really feel like I’m very talented. I’m good at training dogs, does that count? I foster a lot because I like to fix dogs up so they are a bit more adoptable.
  • @m3ganmc Glad to hear you ultrasound went well today!
@peacebubblebaby So sorry you had to go thru all of that! But happy to hear everything looks to be right on track!

    Due date: March 28th

     Any appointments? Friday, 2nd ultrasound.

Rants/Raves?: Ate like crap all week...now I feel like a beach whale  :D

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I get tired here and there, but been lucky with no MS.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? Well I can do hair, did it for 15 years before moving to Texas. Been doing it since little...was always second nature. Just don't care to stand on my feet for hours at a time now.

  • Due date: March 27

Any appointments? Questions?: Had an unexpected appointment/ultrasound last Friday due to some bleeding and cramping. Everything was fine and the baby was a day ahead of what I had been thinking. Got to see the heartbeat and everything. So while it was stressful having to go in, I'm also super relieved to have done it. I had been driving myself a bit crazy before, what with the first appointment not being scheduled until 10 weeks (where we potentially wouldn't even hear a heartbeat since we wouldn't be doing an ultrasound then either) and then having no confirmation of anything until week 15 or so.

Rants/Raves?: The library is gearing up for a new school year. It's always a stressful time of year going from the very quiet summer to suddenly everything all at once.

How are you feeling?: Pretty crappy. The morning sickness set in about 3 weeks ago and hasn't let up since. If anything it's been getting worse and worse. I'm pretty ready for it to be done, but am trying to practice radical acceptance that it may be here for a good number of weeks still. Between that and the fatigue, the busy-ness at work is particularly poorly timed.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I can juggle.

@peacebubblebaby - I'm sorry your ultrasound experience went so poorly. Mine, too, took a good amount of time, since she also checked everything, not only baby but ovaries and such. She was really good about pointing things out, so I was more ok with it. Also, that's a really cool secret talent!

    Due date:
    3/29 with two babes
  • Guess that’s all I can write...
  • @auburnvelvet86 She kept the screen turned away from me for pretty much the entire thing besides like 1 minute where she showed me the baby/sack/heartbeat. Maybe that would have made it better.
  • @sparklylove Mine always do that when on mobile, so I gave up writing anything very long that way.

  • Due date: 3/26

Any appointments? Questions?: Not this week. Had an appointment about two weeks ago with a dating ultrasound. Luckily my ultrasound was a very positive experience. There was a screen that I could see the entire time and the tech was very informative about what everything was/what she was doing. Loved seeing our little one and his/her heartbeat. Made me feel better that everything is going well.

Rants/Raves?: My husband leaves in a week for a job and won't be back for over two months. Always hate when he leaves and trying to be ok with it. At least it isn't close to due day!

How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good so far! Besides being tired and my boobs hurting, I don't have any other symptoms. Hoping it stays this way!

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I honestly don't really have a hidden talent. I was a gymnast in my earlier years and now am a college gymnastics coach. That's really the closest thing I have to a hidden talent.
  • Due date: 3.28

     Any appointments? Questions?: None

Rants/Raves?: Holy hellish morning sickness! Who made the rules about having to work through the first trimester?!?

How are you feeling?: See above. Now the insomnia has kicked in full-force, can’t sleep until about 2 am, only to get
up twice to pee, combined with constant upset stomach & the runs plus a new tingling in the mouth signaling about to throw up but...nothing ever comes out. Misery!

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I can sing, draw, write. I should change careers...
  • @mamakeeg How exciting!! My next ultrasound is Friday, I'll be 9w1d...you got me excited saying you could see the baby wiggle! My last one, she just hung out like she was asleep lol Vbac's scare me too...actually another birth-related does. Can't we just be preggo and the stork comes by?

  • @kristimh80 yes the baby wiggled a couple of times! With my daughter my first ultrasound was at 6 weeks and was just a blob. So this was so exciting! They thought I’d be like seven weeks so we were all surprised. I agree though I wish we could have a stork drop our babies off. Birth is terrifying.
  • Due date: March 29

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment isn’t until September!

Rants/Raves?: I started work yesterday and have 3 new teachers on my team. New to our school, but not to teaching. I was kinda worried because I was really close with my coworker that left this year, but after having our first meeting, I’m excited again! I feel like we’re gonna have a great team!

How are you feeling?: I know I should feel lucky, but I’m lretty symptom free. Except for my sensitive nipples and gigantic boobs that keep getting bigger.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? It’s still hidden...
  • @mamakeeg Yes, mine was like that, "a blob". LOL

@jesiannv I'm right with you on the symptom free aspect. Some days I have to remind myself that something is really going on! Good to hear things with your new work are looking good :)

Any appointments? Questions?: Had my first appointment and US yesterday and it went pretty well.  I have some serious white coat syndrome, but my new doctor is so nice and calming.  I'm hoping visits will get easier.  The US was good.  Baby measured exactly on track and we could see the heartbeat.

Rants/Raves?:More a thought than a rant or rave, but I'm surprised by how surreal this feels.  I felt this way with my daughter but thought the second time around would feel real sooner.

How are you feeling?: I think I'm turning the corner.  Still tired but now when I have nausea it is only in the morning or at night, not all day.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue.

@kristimh80 and @mamakeeg - I was so scared of birth that it actually made me consider if I wanted kids at all.  I sobbed in the parking lot after our first birthing class.  I just wanted to be pregnant forever and not have to give birth.  This time around I wish I could skip the pregnancy part and just give birth!
  • @KatieJo1205 Great to hear you had a good ultrasound!! It's still surreal to me as well. I can see why you'd be over the pregnancy part. Only 8 weeks and keep thinking...we have to do 8 weeks 4 more times! I found out super early which think was a blessing and a curse. lol

  • Do you ladies feel like these weeks are dragging by? I think it's because when I found out with DD it was in November RIGHT before we moved and the holidays started so there was plenty to keep my mind occupied. I'll be 9 weeks on Friday and it seems like these 4 weeks have CRAWLED by.
  • @HoneyBear40 Yes!!! These weeks are dragging big time!! I can't wait for the holiday craziness to start so it won't be so bad.

  • @HoneyBear40 Good point. We have only told close family and a couple of friends. I can't decide when I want to make it public / facebook news. In a way I don't care as long as the closest people know, but my the holidays we probably won't be able to hide it as much. lol

  • We told most of our friends/family who we see in person, or those who knew we have been trying for a while...I haven’t Facebook announced it yet. My other two pregnancies felt more “real” than this one. I guess because I’m still holding my breath thinking that it’s going to fall out. Maybe if I hadn’t had a negative test first, it would feel more real....but I didn’t believe my positive test and had to go buy more to test again because I was convinced it was defective.

As for birth, I’m one of the crazy ones that love birth. My first one did not go as planned, but I loved every second until my nurse convinced me to break my water...things went downhill from there. My second was a vbac at home and amazing. I really can’t wait to do it again. I’m already planning on how to set up my room and who is going to be there. I’m doing Hypnobabies, again, and I’ve already started listening to my affirmations and some of the other hypnosis tracks. If I could have 10 more births like my last, I would...I just don’t want that many kids lol.

I just need to get to get out of the first trimester so I can trust that everything is going to be okay.
  • Due date: Mar 29

Any appointments? Questions?: just had my ultrasound yesterday, such a good feeling! Strong heartbeat, cute little blob

Rants/Raves?: I'm over this sick feeling and my sprained ankle and my potty training child and my puking 5yo and my kids both getting their shots and so on and so on. I need a vacation from life this week.

How are you feeling?:  really terrible. Sick from about 11am to 11pm daily. Considering taking my Dr up on a script.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I can recite the alphabet backwards at top speed.

  • Due date: 3/25 (or 3/23 or 3/20 depending who you ask, but I like this 4th week check in group best so I'm staying here  <3 )

Any appointments? Questions?: I'm a dumb dumb and scheduled my nipt for 9/10 when I could have gone on 8/27. I just want to get back in and hear heart beats and get reassurance that everything is progressing normal.

Rants/Raves?: rave- my birthday was awesome last weekend. I got to play boardgames and eat crappy chinese takeout and cheesecake. Also rave - I've been painting at the new house, which has kept me too busy to do much posting. Also rave - we get to move very leisurely over the next 6 months. First touching up the new house while coming home at night and not having to fight to keep dd out of the little projects, then getting this house ready to sell or rent after we move and not while trying to also live in it.

How are you feeling?: typical first tri pregnant + ice cold feet but very warm rest of body.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? Probably that I tend to be the interpreter even between 2 native English speakers. I feel like fiction would be more realistic if characters frequently misheard/misunderstood dialogue.

@Sparkylove it cuts mine off whenever I try to use any fancy emojis outside of the 16 on their drop down menu.

@keikilove at least the insomnia lets me actually post stuff here  ;)

@mamakeeg I did monthly chalkboard photos with dd, you should consider using your hidden talent for them!

    @shrub me too!

     Any appointments? Questions?:
My first one was on Monday with the OB coordinator. I won’t meet with a doctor till 12 weeks but didn’t get a dating US and saw everything looking good!

     Rants/Raves?:
Scrolling on my phone makes my nauseousness worse and it makes it hard to keep up.

     How are you feeling?:
Honestly not to bad. If I had felt like this with my first I would have thought the first tri was a breeze but I know much better than that haha.

GTKY: What is your hidden talent?
I’m pretty boring and don’t think I have one!
  • @kristimh80 We've told both sets of parents and DH's brother & SIL knows. Beyond that it's an internet friend I confided in about workouts who is 18 weeks pregnant and my chiropractor lol. I think I want to do a cute announcement with DD but not sure if I'll post right away at 12 weeks or wait a little bit? I definitely want to make sure our closest friends know. One of DH's friends casually mentioned in June that his wife was due in August - none of us had any idea and then felt terrible for not knowing!
  • @HoneyBear40 Yes, for sure! I want close family / friends knowing too. We may wait til the holiday's so can do a cute announcement holiday themed or something. My boss was almost 6 months along before she told any of us. I sat across the desk daily from her and had no clue because she hid it so well. Lucky her, she was super tiny, but we should have known with all the junk food she all the sudden wanted lol

  • @kristimh80 6 months? That's crazy! Kudos to her...I think if my coworkers are paying enough attention they might start to pick up on things. Plus I'll have 2 appointments and a chiropractor appointment during work hours in the next 3 weeks so they might guess...stupid OB hours & scheduling that's almost impossible to keep things discreet! (I usually never leave for appointments)
  • @HoneyBear40 Oh yeah, that maybe hard for you! Some times it's not a bad thing if co-workers know. So if you are having a bad day or not feeling well, they get it and are usually more compassionate :)

Any appointments? Questions?: I saw the NP last Friday. It was a good appointment. I had to do my 1 hour glucose test because I had GD last pregnancy. I was really nervous I would throw up because that has happened a lot lately but it went well and I passed. Woot.

Rants/Raves?: I had to schedule my NIPT test. The receptionist at my OB's office called them and did it for me. They were confused about when I needed to come in and then scheduled me for the first day of school. That's awesome for a Kindergarten teacher. Luckily my principal is awesome and is letting me cut out and have another teacher cover for me.

How are you feeling?: Awful. I throw up most days and other days I want to throw up.

  • @Bonnesetter27 Hooray for passing your glucose test! I have the same due date & also had GD last time so I'm anxious to see when my OB will want to test and if I pass or have to go on the GD diet again. Luckily my last experience was controlled with diet & walking.
  • I'll post my official check in later but for real how are you making it through the days. I'm SO exhausted and feel like crap. Thankfully I haven't vomited but I just can't find any energy. Everything I eat makes it worse too but I feel hungry at the same time. Suggestions???

GTKY: What is your hidden talent? I used to play flute reasonably well and I'm also a quilter. I can't wait to get a few more things set up so I can start doing my crafts again. :)

  • Due date: 3/25

Any appointments? Questions?:  No appointment until 9/4 but I've already been able to hear LO's hb on doppler so I'm feeling SO much better about waiting so long.  Thank god for my friend loaning me her Sonoline B!  Anyone else trying a doppler?

Rants/Raves?: I'm still insanely tired and I officially start back to work on Monday following two years as a SAHM.  I am really not sure how it's going to go but it has to be.

How are you feeling?: Exhausted, dizzy, hungover....all....the....time!

GTKY: What is your hidden talent?  I don't think I have one :/

  • @violetmarie61516 I've been thinking about getting a doppler. Good to know you've had luck already hearing the HB. I heard it Friday at my last appointment, but know soon my appts will be spread out, so wanted one for reassurance. Sorry you haven't been feeling well :(

  • @kristimh80 It's been so helpful.  I do okay mentally for about 4-5 days and then I get nervous again and need a little reassurance that everything is still ok.  If I can't find it, I try once a day at different times but I'm only had trouble once not finding it and then did right away the next day.

  • @violetmarie61516 I got a Doppler for the same reason, but I haven’t been able to find the hb yet (I’m sure human error, not an issue, since my doctor found it on Doppler and it was strong bpm, but very soft-if she hadn’t clearly pointed it out I probably wouldn’t have found it myself). Any tips? I’ve watched a few YouTube videos, but only tried twice so far.
