BH/cramps have been happening more lately...this weekend they were painful but nothing to call L&D about. I haven't been sleeping much during the night anymore either, even though I am trying to relax and sleep as much as I can before baby gets here. I keep thinking every little thing means labor is starting soon.. any other FTMs this way?
@smsaulino Are they painful for you at all? Because some of mine have been to the point I have to stop what I;m doing and let them do their thing till it passes.
@smsaulino I mentioned it to my doctor today & all she said was not to worry about anything unless they get progressively worse and more intense then that's real contractions. Like I said, I have been freaking out about every little thing thinking it's time. FTM jitters I guess lol.
@mrsman2018 Both pregnancies I started out with ranitidine (zantac) and quickly moved to daily omeprazole/esomeprazole (Prilosec/nexium) and now here at the end I have days where I take all three. OB hasn't blinked at it. Heartburn can be super painful, keep you awake all night and enough of it can increase your risk of esophageal cancer, so I think it's totally worth it to take a low risk medication to keep it at bay.
Car0liiine Crazy. And here I have been suffering just taking Tums. It hasn't been as bad until like 2 weeks ago and it even wakes me up at night, sometimes causing me to throw up. It has been painful lately.
@mrsman2018 Ooo girl, go get you somethin'! No need to suffer! It's also been causing me to vomit lately. But I have reflux problems when I'm not pregnant too. A few tips - Go ahead and take the ranitidine before you eat - even if it seems like what you're eating is unlikely to cause heartburn. It's much less effective if you take it after the symptoms start. Eat small amounts. Even having a tummy full of water can cause heartburn to act up. Milk feels good going down, but is actually slightly acidic so it's not going to help reduce heartburn.
@mrsman2018 I was sick for 6 months. Me and my dr came to the conclusion in July that it was bad reflux I was dealing with and she prescribed me a generic for Protonix. It's only available by prescription I think, but it may be helpful to talk with your dr about. I haven't been sick since I started taking it.
Another one ... There is nothing that does not give me heartburn. I am taking the max dose of Tums I can but it isn't enough. Anyone using Zantac?
Zantac is way better than Tums IMO. I go for Zantac first and only hit the Tums when the Zantac wasn't enough. Keep in mind Tums can cause issues with iron absorption (because of the calcium) so hopefully you've been giving yourself space between your vitamins and Tums.

@mrsman2018 As far as bottles, I only know because I just pulled them out yesterday! We're planning to EBF when I'm at home, but for when someone else is watching LO I had 3 "feeding" bottles last time, in the smaller size - 4 oz I think. I also got a freebie of the same type we liked before and one of a different type, so I guess technically I'll have 4-5. I also have several for pumping only (I don't even have nipples that fit them, just the flat lids). That worked fine for us with only needing part-time childcare for a while, I think I usually sent 2 bottles for my 6-hr workdays and some extra frozen milk, but honestly I don't remember the details well so I could be way off... But I know that we had just one small pack of 3 bottles and it was fine for us not needing fulltime childcare and knowing that someone could easily rinse and refill the bottles with more milk if needed. ETA: And not using formula; the amounts can be totally different and change more over time, so bottle needs would be different.

Out of nowhere today awful headache, nausea, and a general strange feeling (hard to explain other than i just feel very off). What's up with this mess?!? 34+5 weeks
36w2d here. For a few weeks I've been having infrequent sharp/shooting pains in my upper inner thigh (basically my crotch). In the last couple days, they have have become much more frequent and make me stop moving and take my breath away for a few seconds. I remember something similar with DS1 (but not to the point where I'm having trouble walking at work), so I'm going to call my OB if they are still like this tomorrow. So over being pregnant.

Please call your doc if water, rest and Tylenol doesn't help. Those could be symptoms of preeclampsia.

I agree, this could be very concerning or dangerous.

@lpq0309 I've been having strong BHs for weeks. At this point about half are painful. Occasionally up to an 8/10. Hoping it's the start of true labor soon.
@mrsman2018 I washed one of each type of bottle we have plus the two Medela ones so 5ish? Also, been taking Zantac for awhile. I feel much better.
I bought 6 nipples today. 2 stage 1, 2 stage 2 and 2 stage 3. I also took a Zantac today and it has been working. I didn't even think about all the Tums I have been taking and how the calcium could affect my iron supplements.
@ferris0906 that's just life for me for the last few weeks of pregnancy. I don't know there will be much your OB can do for you about it, pretty sure it's just how baby is positioned. It totally sucks, and looks strange when I stop walking and say "ow" out loud, but oh well.
On a similar note of aches and pains, my pubis feels like it will shatter in a million pieces every time I move, especially when horizontal-like in bed. Sleep has become scarce and uncomfortable. I've had SPD since around week 22 but it has gotten quite difficult since baby descended 2 weeks ago. The old tricks no longer help, not even a tiny bit. On a happier note, we're in the last stretch and I'm very excited for us to meet these little ones!

I had similar symptoms at 34 weeks and my blood pressure was elevated and i was having contractions without feeling any pain. I called my doctor and went to labor and delivery that night. They were able to bring my blood pressure down with medication and after drinking lots of fluids the contractions stopped but kept me over night for monitoring. Went home and was on bedrest for three days. Haven't been on bedrest since (at 37 weeks 4 days today) but the doctor has me monitoring my blood pressure at home to make sure it doesn't spike again. Also, when i was in the hospital, they gave me steroid shots to help with lung development. Hope all is well with you and your little one!
Have you called your doc? At my practice I think* it's 140/90 (either of those numbers or above) is when they start to intervene, but different docs will have different cut offs and you can have a lower pressure but have other symptoms that add up to pre-e. Are you still having the headaches? I'm not trying to scare you, but when symptoms like that come on out of nowhere, you do need to take them seriously and your doc will want to hear from you. They don't want you to wait until your next appointment. With my last pregnancy I developed pre-eclampsia very quickly and had to be induced immediately. My condition went from ok to life threatening real fast, so please don't wait it out. IF it is pre-e, which obviously I don't know in your case, but IF it is, it's not safe for you or baby to just wait it out.
*I ***think*** that's the cut off. Not a doctor though and can't give out numbers like that with any kind of authority.
At doc now. 130/75 is what current BP. Past bps at visits have been 114/70 and 112/64. Waiting to see doctor. Fingers crossed it's nothing babys heart rate was 145. Def not used to this craziness. Everything else about this pregnancy and last has been great.
Good luck and keep monitoring your BP! I am also on pre-e watch for borderline symptoms -- my BP is typically 135 over 90 which is technically subclinical but a drastic increase from earlier in pregnancy.
38+2 today. Crazy heartburn continues. Taking zantac nightly and tums like candy lol Newer symptom that started last week: lightning crotch/pain. Soooo painful. Doc said it's normal though. Cramps continue and he's definitely running out of room. Appt tmw for week 38 & my pre-op. C-section is scheduled for Tuesday when I'm 39+1. He's really big and expected to be around 10+lbs next week. Neurologist doesn't want me to do labor and vag delivery due to history of seizures (free for 10 years now) and he thinks the stress may cause them to come back though. Hope to know more about the surgery and what to expect tomorrow.
I'm 36+3 I had painful cramps all day yesterday so I called my Dr office and the nurse wanted me to be checked out by labor/delivery. I was still 1cm and not effaced, so they hooked me up to monitor contractions and baby heart rate for an hour. baby was fine, and i was getting come contractions every 10-15 min, and then she checked me again and still no progress. So thankfully all was good! I feel much better today, I still have some braxton hicks but the cramping feeling is much better!
I woke up in the middle of the night a couple of days ago with lower back pain and cramping. I'm not going to lie at first I thaught this is it, baby's comming. I wasn't having contractions but I went to the bathroom then went back to bed and after half an hour or so the pain had subsided. Only some mild BH since, I've only noticed them really this week. I'm not really sure what to make of it as a first time mam I don't really know what to expect. Anyone else had something similar?

Prodromal labor most likely, you can talk to your provider about it depending on how far along you are. But it's not rare, and I've been going through a whole lot of this sort of thing.
A full bladder or bowel can cause frequent contractions that can let up once emptied. Personal experience and on midwives have agreed on that.

Mostly just needing to nap more (result of much less sleep at night) and afterwards an urge to want to walk as much as possible randomly.
Also baby has been moving around SO much during the day it’s getting uncomfortable- feels like no more room for him! I’m 36 weeks but petite and so have gained 17-18 lbs total.
@pourmeamocktail Thanks that's pretty much what I thaught, I'm 38 weeks so not concerned as baby could turn up any time now. I was more wondering as to whether it's a sign that baby might come sooner rather than later.
Ugh. I’ve been having diarrhea for the last 48 hours. With my previous two kids, I had a couple good poops a day or so before labor. This is getting ridiculous. While it’s nice to be emptied out for the first time since I started the iron supplements 15 weeks ago, I’m so tired of pooping. And seriously, I think diarrhea cramps are worse than labor. I’ll take my med-free labors over poop cramps any day.
@cornichonmam It's so hard to say. I'm 38 weeks today, but been having 100+ contractions per day for over 4 weeks now, and stints of 3-5 hours in what most people would call actual labor (contractions 3-5 min apart, 1 min long, painful with cramps too) every day or other day for 9 days in a row now. So....bodies are different. Hopefully your experience will be shorter than mine. Still waiting.

Last night I had terrible pains that I think were contractions? It was 100× worse than period cramps. The pain was in my lower stomach. I went to walk around and it still was painful. 45 minutes later they stopped. This morning I've been having random cramps and some pains but nothing like last night. I'm 38 weeks and 4 days..I see my doctor on Monday. But could this be more than BH?
@lpq0309 Maybe, but who knows? I am not sure this is the right method, but unless my cramps/pains keep continuing past an 20 minutes, I only pay some attention. If it continues past an hour I pay way more attention. Otherwise, find that I end up driving myself crazy wondering if "this is it". I have so many random aches and pains, that I tend to be over analyze things. Again, not sure that it is right, but for my sanity that is what I have resorted to. As my due date gets closer, I may change my method
Wow, sounds like you two ladies are gearing up for labor! I've had some more BH, but still nothing too painful or regular.. anyone else feel like their baby is "knocking on the door"? The last week I've had very distinct pushing, tapping and pressure down like he's trying to get out i guess he's on the move downwards!
@lpq0309 Legit full-on labor contractions will more than likely be your entire belly and not just lower belly. Sounds like you’re getting closer and that’s great! Can’t hurt to keep an eye on the painful ones and just pay attention to them if they happen again. And if you’re concerned, you can always call your doc.
I know for me, my legit labor contractions start in my lower belly, then the pain continues up to my lower back and then up and around the top of my belly. But that’s me.
