@echo-charlietango there is a little hole in the wall-ish mexican place in our neighborhood and they bring our a container of pickled carrots, cauliflower and jalapenos as well as chips and salsa whenever we eat in. So so so good.
Yesterday I mentioned to DH that I was craving something sweet. A few minutes later he came into the office where I was working (I work from home) with THIS! Fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar and a little scoop of ice cream. So good.
I take a lot of food pics because my DH is a chef & after being with him 12yrs, I'm not too shabby myself. Still not a lot of experience (for me) baking though. Here's a chicken & rice dish from this week.
I can't look at this thread too much because it makes me super hungry and jealous. Seriously @katy0990 why did you have to post that cake?! I NEED IT!!! and @mommythlegend that chicken/rice dish looks amazing. What a great job! I'm a picky eater, I have no idea what's in it and even I would dive in fork first without thinking!!
Not only did H make banana pancakes for breakfast, but further endeared himself to me with a strawberry rhubarb pie! I'm gonna get into it with some French vanilla in a little while!
Homemade granola (which itself is made with my dad’s home-boiled maple syrup) on homemade yogurt. YAS! I can’t remember if I said this before, but there’s a dairy farm nearby with a fridge you can just get into and grab what you need (honors system accounting). I got a gallon of milk last week because they were out of half-gallons. We used half of it and I turned the rest into yogurt before it went bad. I feel like such a locavore! Definitely going to keep doing this.

mmmm @PensiveCrayon yogurt and granola (+ fruit) is one of my favorite meals! I just had it for dinner in fact . My granola is also homemade this time around, but my yogurt is from the grocery store.
@PensiveCrayon Mmm, granola & yogurt sound wonderful! I still haven’t used my IP’s yogurt setting
Tonight I made clam & scallop chowder.
OMG it was so good. DH & I both had seconds. Totally going to make this when my MIL visits next time, she likes my souper powers.

That looks & sounds delicious @echo-charlietango! Re: yogurt, I actually didn’t use the IP for this batch. I did it once before but the yogurt tasted ambiguously savory, I think because the sealing ring picks up the flavors of what’s cooked in there. So I just did it the old school way in a pot on the stove.

Here’s a burger that rocked my world earlier this week
It’s a well-done duck burger, with some kind of fancy artisinal jam & sweet potato fries. I was ravenous that night. We shared the fried oyster appetizer, then after my burger and fries I ate DH’s fries. Then I drove us to Sonic for hot fudge shakes

@echo-charlietango omg a duck burger sounds like the best thing ever right now. I'm starving! +1 to bring ravenous!
@AdorkablePixie that lasagna looks incredible. I could probably eat the whole thing!
I made lemon and tomato chicken picata this week. Then we ended up having takeout like every night anyway lol. My favorite thing was the Chinese takeout! Chicken picata turned out pretty decent though.
@coybig omg YUM. I grew up a part-time yooper, as I’d like to call it. My grandparents had a place up there and I spent every single summer, all summer, up with them; until my grandpa passed away 4 years ago & my grandma had to sell the place. Your picture just brought back so many wonderful memories for me. I can almost taste it
I need to brag about our dinner. So usually I’m the chef, but tonight my role was to sip wine
DH picked out and cooked the steaks, then sliced the local loaves of bread (one rosemary, one olive). While my MIL arranged the flowers, made the salad, and readied the cheese.
My only contribution was the cutting board, but I made that like...two years ago. I didn’t even help clean up, but I did offer water bottles.
Hope that baby enjoyed his steak & Gorgonzola flavored amniotic fluid!

I don't have any photos on my phone right now but cooler weather calls for a roast with vegetables. So I dumped it all in the crock pot this morning and am waiting (impatiently) for dinner tonight.

@scaredunprepared MMMM I love Chinese food!! My DH isn’t a huge fan though, so I don’t get it much.
