@ms_stevens87 I totally get the need to start early and just keep going. I wanted to move the spare room furniture downstairs months ago so I could start the baby room, but then DH would have had to move it every time we moved onto the next stage of finishing the basement. As it is, I’ve been of little to no help to DH lately because of how tired and sore I am. I mainly just bring him stuff at this point. On the bright side, we’re halfway through putting down flooring and then it’s just baseboards, doors, and trim!
@greenhillgirl we used one of those hooks you just screw right into the ceiling. If you think that your ceilings are too high I would look for a shepherd's hook. I was going to look for something like that to attach to the crib. Let me see if I can find something
Eta - There are lots of attachments for cribs I googled hang mobile from crib. It looks like you can also hang from a wall. I didn't look at the options, but I imagine it's an arm that comes off the wall.
@baileym9126 that’s another reason I was in a rush to get it done. I’m starting to feel more tired and just generally not in the mood to do shit. Glad you’re starting to get some stuff done. And we are all making and growing humans. The men can do some things.
@greenhillgirl thanks. My friend bought it for me last year. Got a ridiculous deal on it. It’s way bigger than it looks to be honest. Not sure where in the room it will go once the baby comes and eventually starts sleeping in her crib.
Got her Arendelle decal up. Taped out where the daybed, dresser and other piece of art will go. Still debating what to put above her crib. We have plaster walls so hanging anything is a nightmare.
Ok, so we aren't to the nursery yet BUT today we bought DD a big girl bed so she can transition out of her crib and we can start moving stuff around our house! It is a miracle DH and I actually decided on something AND purchased it.
I reorganized DSs room to put the changing pad back down, rehung wall decor (we repainted a few wks ago) and where the rock n play is will be where the crib goes if we're still in the house feb/march time (the chair and desk would move the the playroom)
We have finally been painting the mountain mural this weekend! Started yesterday and should finish today. Now that we've started painting, we're committed to this theme. We went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and OMG!!!!!!!! So many cute woodland/mountain/animal themed stuff. I can't wait to start hanging it.
I want to get the Ikea Hemnes dresser in grey, but we measured it and it's pretty long for this room. Questioning if we should get a shorter similar dresser, but I really like the Hemnes one. I just can't wait to get a dresser and start putting things away
@sweetyjenj IKEA used to have a shorter version of the Hemnes that could work (if they still sell it!). We have the big one and I love it. We also bought a smaller dresser for our twin nursery (the Delta Children’s 3-drawer Bianca) and it’s awful, lol.
@kmvisioli@KariAnn323 good to know! I'll have to go into the store to look at them. We want a dresser that will keep working for LO once the room is turned into a big kid room. A small Hemnes sounds delightful, just depends on if they still have decent storage. Thanks!!
The curtains look green in the photo, but they're actually yellow, lol. Crib is going against that empty wall by the small dresser, and there will be an elephant decal above the crib, and a mobile. I'm planning to paint a kid fantasy landscape with some cutesy animals, too.
I am not finished by any means but I am happy with this corner lol. We had the shutters installed a couple of weeks ago which I am very happy with! They will really help with nap time and mornings as this room gets a lot of natural light. My daughters name will be Iris so we went with a lavender paint. I am waiting on a monogrammed pillow to put on the rocker and still waiting on bedding to arrive. Not complete but getting there!
@mrsmang thank you! I really need to finish buying furniture. lol I found a name board that I think will go over her crib but I can't get DH to commit. Probably won't happen until she's born. Lol.
We use command hooks or decals simply because we have plaster walls and otherwise we'd have to drill and use anchors and it's a pain.
I'm working on this painting for baby's room. I've since added a cartoon fish in the water and a balloon caught in the tree. Just a few more details to fix up, a teddy bear picnic to add, and it'll be finished.
Our shower was yesterday and one of my extremely talented friends painted this for baby's room! It's ginormous and I'm now rethinking the plans we were forming about decorating in the room. ISN'T THIS FREAKING AMAZING?!!?!!?
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone) IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear! Our "subtle" nautical theme is coming along. I ordered an arm online to put the mobile up since the ceilings are too high to reach. And I got a few little plastic knit baskets at Marshall's for doodads- one of swaddles and one of hats/booties/socks. Happy with the colors and I often go in a look at it because it reminds me this is real
It is long, but we got the hemnea and the nice thing is that a changing pad plus other items like the diaper tote /supplies will fit on top. We got the white stain though to avoid the particleboard, the stain comes in pine (still soft) and we just swapped out the knobs for nicer ones.
I made some nursery progress today! We finally finished putting up the accent wall wallpaper. Switched out some knobs on our hemnes dresser for some cute anthropologie ones. We also committed to our final furniture placement so we could finally hang our art and mobile that have been sitting around for months. I was really close to pulling the trigger on a fancy glider but I couldn't justify spending so much right now so I just moved a cheap plastic rocking chair we already own in there and covered it with one of our big luxurious blankets. I figure if it doesn't work out we can always buy one later but I'll make do with what I have for now. I also obviously will not be keeping that blanket in the crib but it says "good at naps" (my husband bought it for me years ago lol) so I figured I'd let that message float around the room until I actually have some sheets to put on... I'm so happy with how my little David bowie/starman nursery is coming along! I cant wait for my baby shower next weekend so I can really finish it off!
Re: Nursery planning and pictures!
ms_stevens87 super jealous of your giant elephant. I want one!
I see @galactickates mobile hanging. How are you all hanging your mobile? Is from the ceiling better than the crib attachment thingy? I think we have 9 foot ceilings. We got this mobile I wanted as a gift https://www.crateandbarrel.com/under-the-sea-mobile/s343429 and this is our crib so I'm not sure what would work best https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KM6G0UG?colid=33L4HMGFLV31E&coliid=I3MA89I40DFIC3&ref=br_ADD_TO_CART_title_link
Thanks for any mobile hanging advice!

edit to add: that mobile is adorable!!!

We have a crib and a rug! lol
Her decal should be here today, and another sign for her room in the next few days. Slowly coming together.

The mist progress I’ve made is that DH and I finally bought paint last week
I think DH and I need to start getting serious about it. As of right now her room is still an office with three large book shelves and a desk in it.
