Nursery planning and pictures!

I don't see a nursery post, but if I'm just blind and missing it, please tell me so I can turn this into a gif party.

This popped up on my memories today from a year ago. We have a hot air balloon nursery theme. There are also a few pictures on the walls, decals, and maps that you can't see in this pic. Maybe I'll take some more pictures later. I plan to have the kids share this room for a while so I can keep my guest room, but we'll see how that goes.

I spent a ton of time on Etsy this weekend picking out decorations for the nursery. We're having a storybook theme (which may or may not be an excuse to fit in as many Harry Potter decorations as possible lol).

Most of the decorations I'm saving as gift ideas as our parents have mentioned wanting to buy stuff. However, there was one item I couldn't  resist buying right away:

@kns1988 there's one that's fairly old and probably a couple of pages back. It'd be fun for a new one and see who has made progress so far!

@AshVA that’s adorable!  I love HP and will definitely be fitting that in somewhere. 

We had my MIL in town last week and she bought some of the furniture and set it up for us. I feel like it’s a little early for that, but she’s here and won’t be back again before baby, so I was happy for the help. So far it looks cute!  Still need lots of decorations for sure though, and our chair won’t be delivered until November.

We're planning grey walls, white trim, hardwood floors and then all the color will come from the decor. We want to leave the room somewhat neutral since we plan to sell in a few years. However we're doing a brightly colored Disney theme inspired by the pic I found.

I’m jealous of people starting on their nursery! We plan on moving before baby is born or shortly after so no nursery now! I’m more excited to redecorate DDs room- we moved to a place knowing it would be short term and never fully decorated any room!

At DS's request and so we don't have to rearrange my office and the playroom (I work 100% from home so it's a big deal for me to have an actual office), the boys are sharing a room.  DSs room is blue and green nautical theme so we are keeping with the nautical but his walls are being painted white so we can hopefully sell soon after the baby is born.  The crib isn't back up yet and we probably won't be putting it up for a few more months since its just a matter of getting it out from under my bed and putting it together but here's a pic of DS's bed that I recently repainted to give you an idea.  We are just reusing DS bedding for the baby which matches the sailboat pictures hanging on his wall.

We're doing a space-ish theme.  The actual room is still a disaster but we just got the name sign I ordered for the nursery and I love it! And now that I officially purchased something with his name, I feel like nobody can hassle me on changing it (but that might just be wishful thinking).

We just finished cleaning ours out. Mostly because I want everything done before the holidays to help ease my anxiety.

@ladystout08 Lol seriously... she really should.  she's an artist and I'm so incredibly lucky to have her help.  She's so humble too. My H walked in and saw it and his jaw dropped. It was really awesome. 

I've found these things on pinterest and she'll be like "easy, lets do it, but we'll do it our way" I would be ordering decals if I didn't have her.

 I love it because when V grows up I can tell him his aunt J painted his room.  It's really special.

@galactickates that is so awesome!!!!! I'm pretty awestruck! We're going to do Navy & green alligator inspired. There's a discontinued pottery barn kids quilt out there that i the inspiration. It's not like cartoony, but it's cute. @oaklandava I LOVED that PB quilt but them DH saw the Nautica pattern and he liked it more so we went with that but it was the same color scheme (we raced sailboats together when we first started dating so it was more meaningful to have sailboats).  My sons walls are still navy & green (pic above) so I love your choice

@oaklandava mine too!  Aside from racing sailboats, we also spend a significant amount of our time at the beach (my grandparents retired there and my parents now own their place so I've always spent a lot of weekends there) so every room in our house has either a nautical or beachy theme to it.  We are planning to move full time to the beach when DH retires from his current job in 15 years

We are keeping it simple and doing floral and polar bears! She will be sharing a pretty small room with my DS so I can’t go too crazy! Lol
I’m making several things out of this beautiful fabric and have a polar bear wall art that was custom made based on these colors!  My son’s room is rainbows and elephants so we are just incorporating in her stuff as subtly as possible. Think I’ll have one wall his and one wall hers!  We do have another room but it’s cirrebtly decorated with my step daughter’s stuff and wouldn’t want to kick her out!

@emmaaa ours is currently an office turned storage. We never use it, so things get dumped there. We're going to have to combine the office into the guest room pretty soon. I was waiting until summer is over, since it'll be a pretty extensive indoor project. I figure the baby will be sleeping in our room the first 6-8 months anyway

I plan on getting one of those removable wallpapers, hanging a name sign over his crib, and swapping out his sister’s pink rug and curtains w some other colors. Your mural has inspired me but my friends don’t have much talent in hand painting wall murals. Wtf!!! I’m seriously so impressed.

Thanks @AliKay20 and @dragonette505 !!! If I didn't have such a talented best friend I would have totally wall papered the wall or used decals.  The mountains were super easy to do and I almost left as is - We just used painter's tape And filled it in.  It was time consuming but didn't take a ton of skill.  

Eta I would have loved to do a girl's room.  I have so many silk flowers.  I would have done a meadow theme.  Although I was lurking another bmb (I think) and saw dragons and unicorns.  I would have gone crazy with the girly stuff.  My H would have a permanent eye roll on his face lol

@galactickates I’m not really girly and was planning a pretty neutral room, but I really like that brass bed and I think it looks better I’m a warmer room. I also like dinosaurs, dragons and other animals and space stuff so I think I’d be rocking a boys room. I feel like I might do a pretty infant room then re do it in a couple years with more fun stuff (like dinosaurs!!!) lol
thr kid won’t get a choice for a while anyway! lol

@dragonette505 I was going to do dinosaurs or robots after I found out it was a boy,  but we had already started prepping for woodland, my H loved it so I went with it.  I think when he's older we'll add in dinos for sure.  
We're also not done with the nursery.   We're adding a glow in the dark space mural to the ceiling. You won't see it in the daylight though.  H painted a glow in the dark whirpool galaxy onto the master ceiling at our old house. We keep imagining what the new owners first night in the house was like.    
This time I think he wants a bunch of constellations and make it more realistic.  

Space is awesome.

i do think giving the room a toddler upgrade with more exciting images may be the way to go. Plus, the spirit is willing, but my body is weak! Lol I may just have to start with pretty and move to adventure in a year or two
i love the idea of these kiddies being inspired by their rooms to love space and anthropology and zoology and nature:)
