Symptoms week of 8/5

Weekly symptoms thread.

I’ll start us off, I’m just now starting week 3 of insomnia. I’m getting 3-5 hours at night broken up. With my first pregnancy I couldn’t get enough sleep and would fall asleep at 7pm on the couch and sleep for 10-11 hours every night. Currently watching Sleepless in Seattle cause it felt fitting.

Re: Symptoms week of 8/5

  • Isn't it funny how different pregnancies can be?  I keep reminding myself that every pregnancy is different, even for the same woman, but I can't help comparing!  Here's hoping you get some more sleep tonight, @gollygeeitsamy.

As for me, I've been bloated and burping nonstop since last Tuesday.  Not really nauseated, just uncomfortable so it makes eating not fun.  Also realized last night that my nipples are super sensitive.  With my first pregnancy, the first sign I had was my boobs being sore.  It's crazy to think symptoms can start this early!  My DH keeps telling me it's just in my head.

  • @gollygeeitsamy, hope you finally got some sleep! My husband laughs at me for being in bed by 9pm most nights, but by 530 I'm wide awake!

Nausea has been on and off for me, but it's been very on this weekend. Practically jumped out of bed as soon as I woke up to grab breakfast to try to settle my stomach. @kangstadt my husband says the same thing, I always threaten to vomit on him and tell him I didn't, that it's just in his head. :)
  • @dani2989,.  I keep telling him that if there are enough hormones in your body to get a BFP, there are enough hormones to mess with your body too!

  • Today is 5+3!
So far I've been super exhausted, falling asleep at like 9pm.
Increased thirst for water and increased need to pee.
Bloating and a little cramping occasionally.
Then mid last week I started getting little twinges in my boobs and now they just feel a little sore.
Lastly, no cravings per say yet but I'm starting to feel angry when I'm hungry and am not able to immediately eat. Plus my sense of smell is starting to kick up.
  • @kangstadt, my point exactly! I'm 6 weeks tomorrow so he's finally getting over the "it's too soon thing".

@nottodaysatan, a coworker's dog got sprayed by a skunk for the second time this month on Wednesday night. I knew Thurs morning before he even told me.
  • @nottodaysatan, hangry is a legit thing... I get pretty hangry on a normal basis, lol!  Does it help to have little snacks throughout the day?  I've basically been snacking nonstop since the bloating makes me feel uncomfortable if I eat a big meal.

Oh, and I forgot to add acne like I'm a freaking teenager again.  Sigh.

  • My breasts are swollen and tender already. My husband's breakfast made me want to throw up. I can only eat about half of what I usually would.... and I'm insanely bloated. Like looking 18+ weeks bloated.
  • 4w6d here!
I was bloated like crazy yesterday, so much so that it was almost painful. I've also been snacking nonstop like  you @kangstadt to keep the bloating down. I joke with DH that I'm starving, eat, get nausea/bloated, starving again. It's a vicious cycle.

Other than the bloating I've had cramping on and off as well as getting nauseous throughout the day. The fatigue is catching up to me as well. Amazing how something so small can cause such uncomfortable symptoms.

  • @dani2989 that's hilarious! I had a situation similar where I was at work and I smelled like...pasta that was heavy in garlic...they weren't anywhere near my cubicle and my coworker next to me just stared at me funny.

@kangstadt I've been starting off my day with fruit, snacking on almonds before lunch, then lunch, then almonds then dinner and done. So I mean, I'm trying to keep it at bay. Went to the grocery store this morning and got lots of snacks so!
  • @angelob88 well that makes me feel a little better, I am 5w6d and had my pants unbuttoned most of the day yesterday because of bloat. I kept telling myself there is no way I'm already this bloated, but I was so uncomfortable.
  • I am 5w5d and besides exhaustion and bloat, I didn’t have any nasty symptoms.... that is until I woke up this morning with nausea. It makes sense; the nausea always kicks in for me around 6 weeks and every time I think I’ll beat it. GROOOOOSSSS.

  • @plumpoppies, is there anything you can take that helps with the nausea?  Blech, that's no fun.

@angelob88, it is a vicious cycle, isn't it? I'm hoping this isn't a sign that I'll be puking in a few weeks!  It really is crazy how it affects us so early and so hard.

@nottodaysatan, good idea, I may have to buy almonds or something soon.  My house is pretty bare of good snack foods.  I'm vegetarian also, so finding protein rich filling meals can be difficult sometimes (especially when I've been too tired to cook lately!).  I'm going to talk my DH into making mac and cheese tonight (he adds tofu and tons of cheese, so at least it's somewhat healthy!).

@BarefootContessa, ugh, I feel for you!  Do you get nauseated or to the point of throwing up also?  With my first I never threw up, just felt nauseated 24/7.  Blech, hope you get some relief soon!

  • 4w today - my boobs have been so sore since the day before my first BFP last week. And I have like zero appetite. I take a few bites of anything and then I’m just off it. A little mild nausea but eh. Nothing like last time.

  • Oh so bloated.. already in my maternity shorts lol *yesss* Cramping here and there and waves of nausea. It feels like the calm before the storm...
  • With my first pregnancy I only threw up once (but then again I had a missed mc). My mom said she never had morning sickness with my sister and me so I'm hoping I dont get hit hard with it.
  • My bloat is out of control
    I can't stop snacking
    I'm constipated  :/
I'm slightly nauseous here and there

though honestly my morning sickness was so off the charts with my first... I'm trying to not take my relative lack of nausea and lack of tiredness (so far I have pretty good energy whereas I was exhausted last time) as a sign of anything. I keep reminding myself that each pregnancy is different. But my relative lack of symptoms is strange to me and sometimes I can't help but worry. I mean the symptoms I have ... The extra snacking could explain the constipation and bloat... I'm just trying to stay positive and not overthink things. Lol. Not my strong suit
  • the first one is a terrible picture. But that was the beginning of the week. To yesterday when I was trying on maternity jeans.
  • Symptoms this week are intermittent sore boobs (some days hurt really bad other days they're fine), nausea (random times throughout the day), peeing alot more often, and the most noticeable is Im getting winded when I do the littlest thing (my heart rate goes up to 120-130 just going up my stairs) and before last month when my doctor told me no more exercising to try and increase odds of pregnancy I was working out 4+ times a week (running and kickboxing). Super dizzy with this exertion.  Anyone else dizzy?
  • @kris203, I haven't noticed dizziness yet, but with my first I was amazed how quickly I would get out of breath and after giving birth I get dizzy so easily demonstrating at work (I teach gymnastics).  I think I've noticed shortness of breath already, although it could be the humidity where we are.

  • Fortunately just the bewbs are swollen and tender right now (CRAZY how fast that happens!) but I'm sure the rest of the symptoms are imminent :)
  • The fatigue this time around is crazy!!! I just took an hour nap and I could take another, even longer, nap again. I'm also hungry ALL THE TIME. I'm still BFing 1-2 times a day, which is causing some hunger, but this is ridiculous! I'm also feeling light headed and out of breath occasionally.

Only 7 more weeks until second trimester when the fatigue and hunger (hopefully) subside some.
  • @kris203 oh no! dizzy and winded? That's intense. Take care of yourself!
@scp2585 the tender 'bewbs' (:D) is a very subtle symptom for me and it didn't arrive until this weekend!
@luckywife10 I hope you get some relief soon! Fatigue and hunger are no fun. At least in the 2nd/3rd trimester you can give into the hunger with a little more gusto, if it doesn't go away completely ;)

I've been a touch queasy since 7/18 a couple days before BFP, and then on Thursday afternoon I started feeling really nauseated at work and it's been that way since. I powered through Friday (got to work an hour late, though  :/ ). And since then I can't think about anything but the nausea, keeps me up all night. I haven't actually thrown up! Just dry heaving. Eating a few oyster crackers every couple hours at night (I have a timer) is the only thing that has helped me sleep a little better. I don't even know how I'm gonna face work tomorrow... :s
  • Update: I got DH to make me mac and cheese .

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kangstadt omg that looks delish! I made myself some jalepeno poppers with some full fat cream cheese this evening. So heavenly
  • @nottodaysatan, mmmm, that sounds good too!  Not gonna lie, I may go back for seconds of the mac and cheese, haha.

Lately when I wake up, my throat is super dry and nothing sounds appetizing so I've been skipping breakfast (bad habit, I know).  Not sure if that's another symptom or possibly a summer cold coming on.

I’m really crampy and fatigued, which I’m not happy about at all.

What’s surprising and new with this pregnancy is I’ve despised the taste of my morning coffee for the last few days. It tasted like I brewed it with vinegar or something, just very acidic and bitter (even for coffee). I’ve been a daily coffee drinker for maybe 10 years. Husband made some using the same pot/beans and said it was fine, same as always, so this is totally me.

  • @thurstober ugh I’m waiting for that to kick in for me. I ended up fully giving up caffeine last pregnancy because even the smell of coffee killed me.

  • @kris203 That is not weird at all! I have actually been noticing I am getting dizzy when I get up too fast and when I am doing planks or some exercise when my head is toward the ground. That never happened before. I am chalking it up to needing to eat more small and consistent meals. With two littles at home already, feeding myself is the last thing I do! I hope you feel better.

  • The BLOAT. I look three months pregnant already! Ugh, I hate it. Also, add another to the exhausted list.

  • I’m so glad I’m not the only one with symptoms this early. My last pregnancy I had zero symptoms until week 10. This time around I’m getting daily migraines, bloat, gas, and nausea. My daughter was a walk in the park, this kid is already giving me hell.
  • @loveanddatadriven sorry about the nausea, I h it bad with my DD and someone suggested pressure point bracelets. It wasn’t an end to it all but it did help a little. They’re worth a try
  • The bloat is real this morning. Dang.
  • Annnd the nausea gives way to full on throwing up.
  • Oh no!  The symptoms seem to be kicking in hard this week.  Hope you ladies get some relief soon!

  • Good morning super smell and slight nausea.
  • This pregnancy has been a roller coaster. Some days I don’t even feel pregnant and then there’s days like today where I cannot be upright without feeling like I’m going to barf. GROSS.

Other than that, sore boobs, bloating, occasional cramps, cravings and aversions. Looking forward to the second trimester and I’m only 5w5d
  • @gollygeeitsamy, oh my gosh, I'm cracking up at your meme .

  • Morning sickness is really starting to rev up this week for me. Sore nipples too. I'm beyond exhausted and I go to bed at reasonable times but wake up feeling not rested. I had insomnia a bit prior to pregnancy and now being pregnant its def getting worse. Declegis has helped some with the nausea but still not great.
