@ashtuesday Congrats! It'll be tough, but they'll be so close. Talk to your Dr about your concerns with your last being premature and having them close. I have a family friend whose first was like 2 months early, but her next two were full term, so it doesn't necessarily mean you'll go early again.

I was just thinking about how soon we should start TTC again because we also have a history of loss and even my midwife said to start as soon as 9 months after V was born (because I'm 41 and not getting younger). I was thinking about V having to share me and that made me sad, but then I realized the next kid(s) never get to be the only child, and it's no loss to them. Love is not something that can be divided, only multiplied.
Of course all of your feelings are valid, but that was a breakthrough for me that I hope helps you, too.
@ashtuesday awwwww congrats mama! I can't offer any advice but I'm sending you and your hubby some calming vibes. Logistically speaking it sounds challenging, but that sweet new LO is a little miracle...it'll all work out
@ashtuesday congratulations!!! Timing may not be what you expected but who cares? Nora will have the perfect playmate! Praying for a sticky baby and an easy/to term pregnancy.
Okay, on the birth control/period note... I got my period the first pack of birth control. And since then I've had my period every 2 weeks and they last 2 weeks. I started again today and just got off 10 days ago! I'm going to get a doctor's appt but was wondering if anyone else is having this issue? Or if it's common?
@ashtuesday - Congrats! Deep breaths. Hoping this baby is sticky and stays in there a nice long time for you! I agree with the other ladies. It’ll be a challenge but they’ll love being close in age eventually. And you have plenty of time with Nora still. Just one day at a time!
@DDRRT1982 I will definitely look into a perinatologist - I never would have thought of that! One of the logistical stressors of all of this is that I delivered N at NYU, but we recently moved and it could take us over an hour to get to that hospital. My doctor had already told me that for my next pregnancy, I'd have ultrasounds and get shots every two weeks to help me carry the next baby to term. While that probably sounds like too much to some people, it sounded REALLY comforting to me, to have that level of support. I'm scared I won't find a doctor close by that thinks the same way! But we'll see!
@fatstagnation The EXACT same phrase popped into my head as I was freaking myself out about all of this! And I realized the issues are more mine than N's - she is resilient and happy and everything wonderful, she'll be fine. Good luck to you as you start navigating the TTC process again soon!
@cford08 My husband probably needs the calming vibes more than I do! He is ALWAYS the calm cool and collected one, but I have him beat this time around. He's tossed and turned the past few nights and just keeps asking "WHAT ARE WE DOING?!" at random. I can't say I blame the poor guy! He's also scared about delivery already because my last one was so frightening (for him, having to watch it all) and I feel bad because I don't know how to comfort him about that.
@mccurleya Your birth control experience sounds exactly like mine. According to my doctor, it's common... but also I'm pregnant now lol. So if I were you, I might go check in with your doctor. It can't hurt!
Also @vflux33 - I spoke with the pediatrician about N's weird adult poop. She said it was nothing to worry about - things like excess drool, eating less because of teething, or the extreme heat could dehydrate babies a bit and make their poop a bit firmer. So long as they're still pooping every day, it isn't pellet-like, and there's no bleeding, she said not to worry.
@ashtuesday you sound so much more excited today. I am so glad. With my first full term pregnancy I went every week from 22 weeks until term. It was worth every inconvenience to be able to take my baby home with me. I would stand on my head if that meant my baby was going to be term and not premature. You got this! Also, if your doctor doesn’t recommend the shots maybe suggest them. Makenna shots are pretty standard these days and are utilized very frequently for those that have given birth prematurely.
So, I’ve gotten dressed in real clothes three days in a row. My husband is over here talking about the “woman he married” and being overly feely. He cracks me up. The woman he married didn’t have four kids five and under. Our kids can be clean and dressed or I can be dressed. We can’t have both.
December '18 bmb has a knottie post about a girls husband who is "squeamish". Apparently he passed out during the anatomy scan. Who is THAT sensitive? How does that even work?! (Hoping that its MUD but still had me laughing picturing it)
That is pretty bad if he is passing out during those visits. I wonder how he would handle diaper changes as the baby got older? An anatomy scan definitely doesn’t have anything on what I’ve seen in my kids diapers.
Going to AW...my third son turned two yesterday. He is such an amazing kid and we had a great day celebrating. It was so cute because he didn’t really understand we were celebrating him and he was just excited everyone else was excited.
@DDRRT1982 that is so sweet! happy birthday to your guy!!
@ashtuesday so excited for you! wishing you all good things @mccurleya I’ve been having the same problem - my cycle just comes and goes at it pleases. I go for my annual this week so I’ll see what they say.
I actually stopped birth control a long time ago and learned my cycle bc of the bleeding issues you guys have discussed. I spent multiple years trying to find one that worked for me. My body just doesn’t respond well to it. I am sorry you guys are going through that.
Hello, ladies! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. Life has been crazy and it’s usually so hard to get on the Bump app. It kept logging me out and I got annoyed lol but anyway, I’m hoping to become a regular again! It may take me a while to catch up we’re doing great over here though! Emma is 6 months old already and is learning so much all at once!
V cut her first tooth last friday!!! She is only 20 weeks old (4.5 months).
I'm actually kinda annoyed w her dr. We saw him the week before and A) he had clearly never heard of baby led weaning. went on about how she could aspirate 'pieces' easier than puree even though i've read the opposite. now DH is convinced and I have to re-convince him. B ) I asked dr about teething and he waved me off and said it's too early for that most babies don't start til 9 mo. Like, I asked you for a reason...
eta - pls forgive typos and stuff - typing w one hand, holding baby w the other
@fatstagnation our LO started teething at like 2.5 months (chewing everything/drool city). I brought it up to the pedi and she said its definitely early but possible. Sure enough we had 2 teeth at just over 4 months old.
I hate dismissive doctors. I doctor shopped for myself for a long time before I found my PCP and Gyn/OB because of dismissive attitudes. I got lucky that I'd met the staff for LOs pediatrician prior to even getting pregnant and knew if I had kids they would be who I chose.
@ashtuesday My toddler loves Bambas. We introduced them around the time she pick things up and feed herself (we'd cut them into small pieces at first). The are essentially peanut butter cheetos. I buy the pack of 24 1oz bags from Amazon. We'll do them again with Charlie.

How soon does the second tooth come after the first? We had a really needy/crabby day today. Poor kiddo. I had her up on my shoulder (like for burping) and she literally put her head down on my cheek and fell asleep. haha
@fatstagnation N was just like @sgrn18's LO - after one tooth popped, another one was bubbling riiiight under the surface (but it took a few weeks to poke through). Now, no new teeth in sight!
@mccurleya the doctor ended up changing the birth control RX because he said it shouldn’t be coming every two weeks. So maybe that’s something to look into?
Is is anyone else’s LO sticking out their tounge a lot like they are trying to figure out how it works/what it’s for?
@ashtuesday - congratulations on such a special blessing!
On a different note we are now back from our trips to our summer place with not much cell service. It was wonderful to spend time with my parents since we don’t get to see them much during the school year. My son is finally getting the hang of potty training and in big boy undies!!!
My daughter starts school again on Thursday and my son preschool in a few weeks. I’ve already shed some tears this morning. I just miss her so much when she’s gone. I’m probably the odd mom out but already feel the sadness setting in.
So I told my husband all I wanted for my birthday was a full nights sleep. Well Nate has been sleeping through the night since I requested that. Well tonight, Nate has flipped himself onto his stomach and keeps waking up. I will not be getting a full nights sleep tonight because my husband is sick and Nate on his stomach scares me. I need a video monitor pronto..
@mccurleya we got the relatively cheap vtech at walmart and are very happy with it. I think it was like $70. it doesn't use your phone or wifi so no battery is dead or crappy wifi can cause a panic, the price was right, and I was able to just go pick it up late one night.
Thank you @fatstagnation. He decided he's not sleeping tonight. He's currently laying on my stomach, with the biggest/longest running head lift I've ever seen, and hasn't stopped talking.
Bump kicked me out so I’m catching up. My kiddo still has no new teeth pop in and is still having loose green BMs like 6-8x a day! Her poor bum is so red, come on dang tooth!
DH an for I are going to a wedding tonight and I asked my mom to watch the kids. Now she wants to take them to a fair an hour away and they aren’t leaving until my sister gets out of work and gets to my house. They won’t get there until 7-7:30. If they stay for 2 hours that’s 9-9:30 and another hour home. They are usually in bed by 9:30. And Declan usually is crabby and takes naps when they will be there. This is also not stating that my nephew is going too. So there will be 2 adults and 4 kids- 2 of which don’t listen and run away. I am really worried about this and now I don’t even want to go to the wedding. I was nervous enough just having her watch Declan here let alone taking him places. not to mention we are also going away tomorrow and I don’t want them to all be exhausted. Ugh!!!!
@megpeg that does sound stressful! I have only let my sister watch LO and only at my house. That's probably related to my anxiety surrounding other people watching him more than their lack of ability to do so. Having 2 adults with 4 kids at a fair with a lot of people and places to get lost sounds daunting.
My mom has a story about going through the airport by herself with all 4 of us kids (3 month old, 2, 3, and 6 year olds). Me and my brother were wanderers so we had those wrist leashes. Well we had to go down an escalator where my brother refused to go down and I ran down it. So the leashes were stretched one at the top and one at the bottom of the escalator. Some guy came up behind my brother and picked him up and brought him down to my mom (more accepted in the early 90s to pick up a strangers kid lol). I seriously can't imagine how she got us all on and off a plane without losing one of us.
@sgrn18 I have only been comfortable with DH watching him really. My daughter and nephew are wanderers too and that’s what bothers me- they tend to run in opposite directions. i don’t know why I am so over protective with him but left DD with my mom from 3 weeks only on to go back to work.
@megpeg - while it’s nice Grandma & Aunt want to take them out for fun - maybe something low key and close to home? Maybe a picnic dinner and some park playtime? My anxiety would be getting the best of me too. hope you all can come up with a less stressful activity while you guys are at the wedding.
