Re: Wednesday Ticker Change - August 1

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

13 weeks! Baby is the size of a lemon!

    2. How are you feeling?

Still feeling pretty normal. Lower back is still tight/sore. Boobs have almost grown out of my bra! I think I'm finally starting to get a tiny bump!!

    3. Any appointments this week?

    Yes, one on Monday!

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions?

I am starting to share the news with friends, and I have one friend that I am nervous to tell because she and I were both TTC. She was already kinda stressing about it then, and she's a couple years older than I am. I happen to know that she is not yet pregnant, and I conceived pretty quickly. I'm not sure how she'll feel about the news, but I don't want to add to her stress!! (Stress is no good for baby-makin!) We plan to post an announcement on social media in about two weeks, and I want to make sure she knows before then. She lives far away so I am planning to tell her by text. I've read a few articles about how to tell someone who is TTC that you are pregnant and there are some helpful suggestions. I am curious to know if any of you have been through this (on either side) and have any experience, advice or opinions you'd like to share!

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many?

Yes, I have 5 siblings!! 3 brothers and 2 sisters! I was the 5th child.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

12 weeks, the size of a plum

    2. How are you feeling?

Pretty good. My energy is definitely coming back slowly and that's really been my worst symptom.

    3. Any appointments this week?

NT scan on Tuesday. I'm beyond excited! I can't wait to see this little bean again and know all is well.

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions?

    Nothing this week.

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many?

An older sister and brother. They are 11 and 8 years older than me so I was completely spoiled for attention as a little kid but then I was an only child at home from age 8. That wasn't much fun.

@eliseirene31613 you are being very thoughtful. I don't have any direct experience but I've read the text advice somewhere else and it seems very sound to me. My sister had a very rough go of conceiving and distance was really what she needed when my brother and cousins were having babies.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

12 weeks. Baby is the size of a Roborovski hamster.

    2. How are you feeling?

Pretty good. Nausea has pretty much stopped, as have most of my food aversions. I'll still get a bit nauseous if I let myself get too hungry though. I'm also waiting on NIPT results, so I'm feeling anxious about that.

    3. Any appointments this week?

Had my first midwife appointment last Friday and all went well. We got to hear the heartbeat (165), which was exciting. Next appointment will be 8/24.

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions?

    No real questions right now!

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many?

    One older half-brother.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? - 11 weeks, lime.

    2. How are you feeling? - Okay for the most part! Still nauseous occasionally, but I haven’t puked since Saturday which is a new record. I think I’m past peak ms!

    3. Any appointments this week? - Not this week, but I have my NT US and blood draw Wednesday next week.

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions? - Meh.

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many? - Three siblings! Two brothers and one sister. I’m the oldest, the youngest is 10 years younger than me.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

13 weeks! Yeah! A lemon or peach ;)

    2. How are you feeling?

Heartburn is crazy, but is very random. I can eat the same thing and have crazy heartburn one day and none the other! Wha! But I consider it a blessing, don’t want it every day.

Edit: it deleted the second half of my post

Edit AGAIN!! It deleted it after I retyped it .. I give up. Wah!

  • @eliseirene31613- As someone who has struggled to get pregnant for 3 years, I think thats great you are concerned about how you tell her. Personally, I prefer texts so I can have my moment to process and then respond with the appropriate excitement.  because I was truly happy for others, but at first it just makes you feel more left behind/left out. and soon I would get over that feeling and could be ok.

    1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 11 weeks. I have been to nervous to look at the apps and get the sizing! Hopefully once I get to second tri I will let myself get a little more excited and stuff

    2. How are you feeling? A little better than last week with nausea. Felt pretty good over the weekend and then Monday was rough again. I honestly think sleeping in and letting my body wake itself up must really help!

    3. Any appointments this week? I have another US tomorrow. GIven my history, my OB is continuing the weekly US that my RE was doing. I feel blessed to have so many, but also get the worst anxiety right before each one. I can hardly look at the screen until they say its all good. They make me meet with an NP after the US tech does it. I don't really get why? I think I can see the HB and size on the screen would know if there is an issue?

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions? I am supposed to have the NT scan next week, but waiting now for them to call and schedule it for the last week. I messaged my NP about it.

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many? Yes two sisters. One older by 2 years and 1 younger by 1 year. My older sister got married and started TTC this spring. Since I have been TTC for 3 years, I was terrified she would easily get pregnant and i still was going to be. That would have been really hard since this is the first grand child for my parents. Obviously I would never want her to struggle like I have or anything, that would have just been super hard on top of a very hard situation. So now that I am pregnant, I am trying to give her all my tips lol.

  • Thank you for your input and advice @becks_726 and @JamieH2000!

@JamieH2000 you're almost to the 2nd tri! I'm so excited for you! That is awesome that you get to have a weekly US. I bet it's your weekly dose of peace of mind! I'm like "when do I get to see my baby again!?"
  • @eliseirene31613- thank you! I am blessed with the weekly US for sure. Tho I kinda wish they didn't think i needed them! LOL. Once the SCH has resolved and the vanishing twin is gone, I am sure I won't get them anymore. Still debating on getting a doppler at that point. Hopefully you get a scan at your appt on Monday?

  • @JamieH2000, yeah that's understandable. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting a scan Monday since last time they just gave me a prescription for one and I had to schedule it separately. But hopefully I'll get a prescription for one! I'm hoping I don't have to wait until the anatomy scan at 20 wks! I'm sure they will probably listen to the heartbeat on Monday and that will be reassuring enough for me :)
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?

    11 weeks. lime

    2. How are you feeling?

    decent

    3. Any appointments this week?

Monday that past. We did ultrasound, doc says goid, strong heartbeat. blood work for genetics and gender.

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions?

    Dying for my gender results

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many?

1 older sister. She gave birth to 3 boys all C section.

  • @eliseirene31613- I think listening to the HB will be really reassuring! I just dont want them to try it with me until they are pretty sure they can find it easily since that would be stressful! Hoping you get an order for a scan too. Keep us posted on MOnday!

  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 11 weeks, lime

    2. How are you feeling? Nausea is slight but ever-present. Also experiencing twinges of RLP and a general feeling of fullness at the top of my pelvis, especially if my bladder's full, so it may be time to unpack the ol' maternity pants! Also, exhaustion, always exhaustion.

    3. Any appointments this week? Nope, but I FINALLY get to see LO on next Mon. 8/6 with my first meet-and-greet with the OB practitioner. I'm also going to get my blood draws done for standard pre-natal labs on Friday.

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions? My kids are still killing me with this waking up in the middle of the night and crying for mommy business.

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many? I have a little sis (She's technically my half-sis, but we don't care!) who is 2 years younger than me. She just had her first baby a month ago. Being an auntie is legit the best!

  • Got to hear the heartbeat for the first time this morning!! We sorta saw it on the ultrasound a couple of weeks ago, but it was hard to see. Hearing it was so wonderful!! The next ultrasound is the anatomy scan on Sept.19th! I don't know if we will look though because we want to find out the gender at the gender reveal party! Hopefully the ultrasound tech can still show us the baby without spoiling the surprise! Can't wait! 6 weeks seems sooo far away. :#
  • 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 14! Woo 2nd tri. Not sure on size as everything I look at says something different. Mouse/Beet/peach. All different sizes. Dumb.

    2. How are you feeling? Weird stomach stuff, probably muscles stretching or whatever

    3. Any appointments this week? Regular appointment on Friday

    4. Rants/ raves/ questions?

    5. GTKY: Do you have any siblings? If so, how many? Only child. I used Tom be cool with it, but now I wish I had at least one to have reassurance that my mom actually is as ridiculous and narcissistic as I see it.

  • @bleucheeznwine having a sibling doesn't necessarily help with the mom issues. My mom has severe anxiety and is very much a non warm fuzzy person, but my sister does not see any of that and thinks I am dramatic.
  • Sorry to hear that @disneybaby84. My mom also has mental health issues, was pretty emotionally abusive, sometimes physically, had a boyfriend who emotionally abused me while she stood by silently, and yet she denies all. A witness would've made me feel less crazy/ragey about it when I've confronted her, because when it's her word against just mine she flat out denies or starts crying about how mean and ungrateful I am. It took having my own kid to realize how awful she was/is and how I couldn't even fathom saying the things she said or neglecting the wellbeing of own child.
  • @bleucheeznwine sorry you had that experience.  :'(
