I checked all the FTM pages and couldn’t find it. I had taken a screen shot of it but now I can’t find that either. It was a good list to just help with not over buying for the first couple months. Dang.
I had a bad leg break about 6 years ago and used to have to wear compression socks every day! Just the ones that went to the knee, I didn’t mind them most of the time and the hardest part was getting them on!
If you realize that you haven’t felt baby move in a while, how long should it be before you start to get worried and do things to encourage baby to move?
Backstory - Blast was going crazy during my 3hr test yesterday morning, and then around 10pm yesterday I realized I hadn’t felt xer move in a while. It was a busy day, so I figured I just hadn’t registered xer movement in a while. Once I went to bed, I felt movement, and was reassured. I really need to figure out xer pattern...
28 weeks does mark when we are supposed to be counting the kicks though. I actually was going to ask my OB that question at my appt Wednesday so I can report back!
I posted this on the Sunday ticker change as I hit 28 weeks today. My midwife says 10 movements in two hours each day. NOT ten movements every two hours. If you haven't felt much all day eat something, drink something, and lay down in a quiet place until you get ten movements. If you don't get ten in 2 hours call the Dr.
I was wondering the same thing. 27 weeks now. My boys movements are usually pretty predicable morning after breakfast, lunch and dinner and then again while falling sleep. But latey have changed in pattern and sometimes doesn't move as much as he once did. I figure as long as I can feel him when I lay down or am quiet enough to recognize then I'm good. He tends to move in those times. I also can get him to move if I poke around a bit

Was debating making this its own bread, but I’ll start here. How do you identify PPD? Yes this is Google-able, but so is SAD and for H it didn’t really feel like anything like what we had read online. It crept in very subtly and sneakily in our first year in the PNW. Totally not asking anyone to share experience with which they are not comfortable, but I’m hoping to have some foresight on what to watch for...
@chopchop25 I had one fried that had PPD and another that had PPA and both said the same thing- they couldnt recognize it (until it was laid out for them basically), but their SOs saw the difference and their SOs were both the ones who suggested talking to their OBs because of the change the noticed. These 2 friends did warn their SOs ahead to time to mention any changes after the first month though, so both their husbands were pretty astute in picking up the increased anxiety/short temper/stress etc...
@knottieamusements usually they say after 28 weeks you should feel 6-10 movements in a two hour window. Babies do have sleep cycles of up to 90 minutes, so you shouldn’t go much longer than that without feeling something, but it’s easy to miss movements if you’re busy.
Has anyone needed and found a belly support band that you like? I've noticed this weekend when I stand/walk even just a few minutes I get a lot of pressure on my lower abdomen and bladder area. When I walk holding my belly up it feels better but I can't always walk around like that . I looked at a few different support bands on Amazon that look like they may help, but has anyone used one yet that worked (and wasn't too bulky under clothes)?

I tried sooooo many with DD and DS and hated all of them. This time I got an AZMED one and I actually really love it. It isn’t bulky and it’s very breathable - I haven’t had any issues with sweating under it in the Texas summer heat.
@jandmnumber1 if you want to talk about NEED clothing wise for a new born, sleepers and onesies. Depending on where you live you may want fleece, cotton or both sleepers. You also want bibs on hand in case you get a spitter.
@knottieamusements for the record I never was told to do kick counts last time, BUT I never asked either..
Re: kick counts. My OB never told me to do them with DD or DS. He just said that I know what’s normal for my baby and if I feel like they’re not being as active as usual to call.
DS was incredibly lazy and I rarely felt him move, so if I had to do kick counts with him I would’ve had to call daily.
+1 for the Azmed belt from Amazon. I'm not sure if it helps...so far, after starting to wear it, my pain has moved from localized on one side to spread out over both sides (but less maybe?). But it's not too sweaty!
I am in full on nesting mode now that the nursery is ready for furniture, and full of questions this week!
Is it too early to wash the crib bedding and baby clothes? We are going to set up the furniture this week and I want to put his bedding on the crib so it is taking up less space somewhere else, but I know it needs to be washed before he sleeps on it. Same with clothes...his room is small and we don’t have a ton of extra space in our house so I want to put his clothes away in the dresser but I want to wash them first. If I wash them now, will I need to again before he wears them?
I think it's fine to wash the baby clothes now. Do you have a cat that will jump in the crib? If so I would probably wait a little closer to your due date to wash the bedding. My mom washed all the clothes when she came to visit 2 months before DS2 was born. They were fine to use after he was born.
I'm debating if I wash all of the clothes I have, or just the NB and 0-3mo. We got a bunch of hand-me-downs so I have a ton of 0-6mo sized clothes. Debating if I should wash the 3-6mo ones now or wait.

I washed all of the hand me downs and used clothes, then put them in plastic bins.
@spartan4life - I think the main thing with washing bedding and clothes before use is getting rid of germs from who knows who handled it and any chemicals from the manufacturing process.
I’m planning to wash everything in August when I have the nursery together, but probably won’t make up the crib until tiny human is home. (I have both a cat and a dog; even if the cat doesn’t take up residence, there is still a lot of fur floating around in my home.)
@jandmnumber1 i can't remember the thread, but i do know that @mytrueloves posted her lists and they were fabulous. this is baby #5 for us and i still used her lists to help me figure out what and how much we want/need of everything!
for those of you with cats, i had read once that if you put aluminum foil down on baby items/furniture cats will not like it and will stay away. Not sure how universally that works, but it sure did for us! We put some in the crib, carseat, swing, etc before baby came and i don't think our cat stepped on it more than once...so that might be worth a shot.
@sammierose464 I don’t have any experience on how we “know,” since I’m a FTM too but my doctor did warn me I will likely have some contraction feelings soon (both because it’s getting really hot out and our bodies “practice” getting ready for baby). He said normal twinges and pains will stop and to drink a big glass of water and lie back and to call if it hasn’t stopped within an hour. I hope that puts you more at ease and you can always call the practice to get some peace of mind!

So I love food lol and I’m curious about when the hospital cuts you off from eating. Is it as soon as you are admitted? When your contractions are xx minutes apart? When the baby’s head is popping out? Lol I want to figure out if I should eat before I go to the hospital for some fuel and energy or if I’ll have the chance there. What’s the normal “ok you can’t eat any more” moment?

@sarahzett that would be a good question for your hospital tour as I think it might depend on your hospital. Mine doesnt allow you to eat solid foods from the moment you are admitted- one of the reasons I wanna labor at home while I can, because I am gonna need fuel
@sarahzett usually they say nothing to eat once you are in active labour (regular painful contractions that are causing your cervix to change). But it may be hospital/doctor dependant.
My hospital said to bring a cooler full of snacks and to expect to burn 1700-1900 calories. They also told us Grub Hub delivered...so I'm guessing there's no restrictions on when we can eat here.
My hospital has snack stations on both sides of the L&D floor but I think that might be more for after and labor partner but I'll ask when I get closer to September so its fresh in my mind. I hope they let us eat, I'll be packing snacks!!
@sarahzett I ate a big breakfast in the morning at home while my contractions were weaker and farther apart, and then ordered food at the hospital when we got settled into our delivery room - this was maybe around 3 in the afternoon, before they hooked me up to everything. DS was born around 2 the next morning, and I didn't have any desire to eat a thing between that one meal and breakfast after delivery.
