Ticker change simply means that you have started a new week of pregnancy. For example, I go from 24 weeks to 25 weeks on Thursday 6.28, so my “ticker” changes on Thursdays. It is our way of marking a milestone.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
2. How are you feeling?
3. Any appointments this week?
4. Rants/raves/questions?
5. GTKY: If you could guarantee one aspect of your pregnancy or labor/delivery experience, what would it be? (For arguments’ sake, assume that whatever choice you make will result in a healthy baby/healthy mom, because I am pretty sure healthy baby/ healthy mom would the guarantee for all of us.)
Re: Thursday Ticker Change (6/28)
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks; size of cauliflower, rutabaga, napa cabbage, prairie dog....
2. How are you feeling? Just more uncomfortable. Achy pelvic region.
3. Any appointments this week? Nope, not for a while
4. Rants/raves/questions? Not really, other than I'm so sleepy and don't want to be at work.
5. GTKY: If you could guarantee one aspect of your pregnancy or labor/delivery experience, what would it be? (For arguments’ sake, assume that whatever choice you make will result in a healthy baby/healthy mom, because I am pretty sure healthy baby/ healthy mom would the guarantee for all of us.) I don't know. I'm pretty laid back about all of this. I'm generally go-with-the-flow, so as long as there are no complications, I'm not too crazy. Maybe that I don't poop during delivery?
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
25 weeks, cauliflower.
2. How are you feeling?
All-around pretty awful. I don’t know how people can have more than 2 or 3 kids, because this pregnancy is so much harder on me physically than the other 2. Seriously questioning my mom’s sanity at having 6 kids, especially at AMA (she was 30 when she had me, the oldest, and 42 when she had my youngest brother). I’ll be 27 in August and I feel like my body is already too damn old for this.
3. Any appointments this week?
Nope.
4. Rants/raves/questions?
No.
5. GTKY: If you could guarantee one aspect of your pregnancy or labor/delivery experience, what would it be?
Well DD’s heart rate kept dropping dangerously low and wouldn’t come back up, and DS had his cord wrapped around his neck and was blue, and didn’t cry for a good 45 seconds post-delivery, so avoiding anything like either of those is ideal. Aside from that, my biggest hope is that I don’t have to be induced this time around because Pitocin is the work of the devil and I DO NOT want that this time around. I also really want to deliver this baby med-free (had Nubain and an epi with DD, just an epi with DS), so if I’m able to do that I’ll feel like a damn superhero.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks, cauliflower
2. How are you feeling? Generally uncomfortable. I have a sinus infection but it's slowly clearing up.
3. Any appointments this week? Had first PT on Tuesday. We're working on reducing the pain in my hips and back so hopefully it doesn't get as bad as the last pregnancy. Had a growth scan today. Baby is measuring 1lb12oz. Got some cute pictures of his/her face
4. Rants/raves/questions? Not today. Just wish I could get more comfortable.
I'd love to guarantee a short L&D.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 23 weeks. Large mango or Barbie Doll
2. How are you feeling? Pretty tired this week, terrible Round Ligament Pain anytime I try to exercise but the bright side is that I *think* I'm starting to feel her move around a bit more.
3. Any appointments this week? Not until 7/3
4. Rants/raves/questions? I normally deal with a bit of health anxiety so getting pregnant has always been something that worried me because of all the changes that your body goes through. So far I've been OK but this week I've started worrying about Pre-E. So I guess my rant is that I wish my overactive imagination would give me a few more weeks of staying calm and not getting me all stressed out before I actually need to be...
5. GTKY: If you could guarantee one aspect of your pregnancy or labor/delivery experience, what would it be? (For arguments’ sake, assume that whatever choice you make will result in a healthy baby/healthy mom, because I am pretty sure healthy baby/ healthy mom would the guarantee for all of us.) I just want to be strong and confident... I would love to guarantee that I won't break down or have any anxiety/panic attacks.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
26 weeks size of Kale!
2. How are you feeling?
actually really good! I watch my niece and nephews over the summer, and I was worried I'd be too tired, right now we are doing good, it is 5 kids under 6 in the house so it can be exhausting!
3. Any appointments this week?
had one yesterday, they got all the views they needed of heart and all looks good! even got some really cute pics of him! my platelets are low so I started some herbal remedies to hopefully boost that.
4. Rants/raves/questions?
rave: at my appointment yesterday i was able to meet with an older more experienced nurse who seems to have more answers than just "well you'll have to wait to talk to the doctor" she said she doesn't see any reason why i would need a repeat csection (unless i personally really want one which i most def do not!) because my first two births were vaginal and all went well and that emergency section was just that an emergency so i don't necessarily have to schedule another one (unless something happens during pregnancy between now and delivery!) i was excited to get a bit of positive feedback, but I meet with my Doctor in 2 weeks and He is no non-sense he won't let me think there is a possibility if there isn't so he will def give me all the risks/benefits and i know once i meet with him i'll have a lot more information! but i think as long as my doctor is comfortable with me trying for vaginal i will def at least try!!
1000% it would be NO EMERGENCY CSECTION! well NO Csection at all, my third was a prolapsed cord and so I was put completely under general and woke up 2 hours later with my baby gone! He was absolutely fine, praise God but it was a very traumatic experience yet in hindsight I am so happy I was in hospital where they were readily available to do such a quick csection, from the moment they realized it was a prolapsed cord to getting him out was less than 20 mins which was amazing since his heart completely stopped and my midwife was holding his head off his cord so he wouldn't stop the oxygen.
anyways, I just really want as close to a natural labor as possible but if not I have come to terms with a second csection.
I was chatty today.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 24 weeks! Size of a cantaloupe or a demi-baguette!
2. How are you feeling? still feeling pretty good, with a decent amount of energy. I’m slowly losing my motivation at work though, and just want to be done already.
3. Any appointments this week? I had my 24 week appt on Tuesday, which was totally uneventful. Got to hear the heartbeat again which is always nice, but otherwise I feel like these in between appts (especially as a STM who doesn’t really have many questions) are kind of a waste of time.
4. Rants/raves/questions? Got all the info about my glucose test at my appt this week, and am not looking forward to that! I don’t mind the drink so much, but don’t want to fast or have three separate blood draws!
5. GTKY: If you could guarantee one aspect of your pregnancy or labor/delivery experience, what would it be? (For arguments’ sake, assume that whatever choice you make will result in a healthy baby/healthy mom, because I am pretty sure healthy baby/ healthy mom would the guarantee for all of us.) I think I would want my labor to start sometime during the day rather than by having my water break in the middle of the night to wake me up again. It was too startling to wake up like that and be in labor at 2am, so I’d rather already be awake when it all starts!
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 23 weeks, the size of a grapefruit!
2. How are you feeling? It really depends on the day. Yesterday I felt terrible because I was super busy at work and didn’t eat as much as I should have, but today I feel pretty good. I mentioned earlier this week in the symptoms thread that emotionally I’ve been all over the place and I’m very overwhelmed with everything right now.
3. Any appointments this week? Not until next Friday. But my mom will be here so I’m excited that she will be able to go with me and hear his heartbeat!
4. Rants/raves/questions? I’m really excited because my mom, brother and sister fly in tomorrow! My mom and Grandma are throwing a joint shower for my sister and I on Saturday so I’m really excited to see my family.
I’m a FTM so I’m not exactly sure, but at this time I would say a safe vaginal delivery with no tearing. I think the tearing is one of my biggest fears at this point but I know there will be other things that come up that would make me change my answer between now and birth!
Mine was just one blood draw and if I fail that (which I didn’t) then they send for the 3 hour one! That would stink if they just start with the three hour one!
And I agree fully with the appointments I almost never have any questions so it is just a quick visit but I almost wish they did them less (but then again If I do need to ask something or am anxious for whatever reason it helps too) i’m Glad to be there and hearing the heart beat always makes me happy of course!
@spartan4life I agree with you! Tearing is always a worry! With my first two vaginal deliveries my doctor does perineal massage as I am pushing and both those boys were 8lbs8oz and I didn’t tear at all in fact the recoveey was really nice so i honestly don’t know if that was the reason but it def seemed to help! Just a suggestion to talk to doctor about or I think it is something you can do as well for your area coming closer to labor!
