I am going to bite the bullet and go buy a crib from Toys R Us. They're so dang cheap AND I found a gift card from who knows where in our kitchen drawer and my husband is fine with it. My PGAL brain is freaking out so I'm rationalizing it that if something happens I'm going to donate it to our local refugee organization.
I finally have my first appointment on Wednesday when I'll be 9 weeks. Everything seems normal so far, but that doesn't stop me from being super nervous. I'm taking DS to the beach for a long weekend with my in laws, but DH is too busy with work to come along. Hoping that the 4 hour drive goes smoothly. We're driving ourselves because there's no way I want to be on someone else's time table.

My Ticker that I generated from The Bump has disappeared and ever time I go to the link I used, it redirects me somewhere else. Anyone care to tell me how to get it back?
I think nesting has already kicked in, lol. Were having my ds's baptism on Sunday so I'm doing all that necessary cleaning and prep. But now I'm all OMG I need to scrub the baseboards and window tracks! And people will notice the dust on top of our cabinets!
I've been watching FIFA and if I see one more grown ass man fall to the ground like they're dying because they got knocked down by fucking air, I'm going to lose my mind.

It's seriously like watching the NBA. They're so incredibly dramatic about it, it's almost comical!
When I take naps, my husband takes that time to continue working on his giant LEGO set. So here is the latest stage of building, I think he said he finished step 500-something out of 1300 steps........

Well, we did it. I hope this doesn't bite us in the rear. Also, taking my husband was a terrible idea. He scoffed at my choices with a "You're not putting our baby in some dinky, flimsy, cheap crib." *sigh* We met in the middle but still more than I would have spent if I had gone alone.

Ugh. MH also likes to scoff at my ideas. Funny though how he never seems to have any better ones of his own.

I'll give DH credit, he sat there and scanned the models on his phone and read reviews to help pick one. But he definitely scoffed me first before being helpful.
@featherchicki you’re a better wife than me, I told MH he couldn’t get that when we were at Legoland.
@achays11 I definitely had sticker shock when he first told me about it! We budgeted for it. It was a good 8 months from when he mentioned it before we bought it.
@sparkymcgeee Apparently I lived at Target around Christmas time. One day we went there as a family and DD said Target. She was only 18m and didn't have a huge vocab at that point.
I’m only 9 weeks pregnant, but was hating life in regular pants yesterday. I pulled out my one pair of maternity scrub pants and am so much more comfortable today.
I took my parents to the airport this morning because they’re going to visit family in Texas. They said we can drive their car (a 2017 Edge) while they’re gone. I drove it home and I loooove it. It’s fancy pants compared to our cars. Plus the AC in my car isn’t working right so it will be nice to drive in 100 + degree heat this week with propper AC. They may not get their car back hehehe
Health insurance is so freaking annoying. I work in Massachusetts. My OB is in Massachusetts. My company is based out of Massachusetts. I have BCBS of Massachusetts. But noooooo because I live in Connecticut 3 miles over the state line from Massachusetts I have to get a "cross border" referral to go see my own OB.
Me on the phone with my PCP: Receptionist: "And what is the reason you need to see the OB?" Me: "Um...Pregnancy?" Receptionist: "I don't show that you saw your PCP for pregnancy" Me: *bangs head on desk*
I am grateful to have insurance but something like a state line shouldn't make this all so complicated!!
@Rachel2066 as somebody who has worked in insurance for my entire adult life I can confidently say that dealing with insurance companies is the absolute worst.

I once helped a patient with an appeal when their insurance denied an unexpected blood transfusion during surgery as “not medically necessary.” I may have been a bit snarky and made a big deal about the difference between a medically necessary blood transfusion and a cosmetic blood transfusion. (Which, of course, doesn’t exist. Why the heck would the doctor give a patient 4 units of blood if it wasn’t needed?)
I’m slightly freaking out that I only have 20 minutes to say I’m still 29. Anyone else felt this way then realized how awesome being 30 was? I’d like to get there soon, kthx!
@AliKay20 You gain so much confidence in your 30s. You just know yourself better. Also, you start forgetting how old you are, so it really doesn't matter!! Other people are always correcting me on my age
I agree with @molosmiles, @AliKay20. I constantly forget how old I am. I also look way better in my thirties than I did in my twenties. I think because I don’t care about impressing other people anymore just about looking good for me. Plus it’s fun to make fun of all of the drunk, dumb 20-somethings when you go out.
@AliKay20 first off were practically birthday buddies! Mine is on Friday! Happy Birthday!
I totally freaked going into my 30's but guess what!? My 30's have been the best ever. I'm making more money than I ever have, I have more confidence than I've ever had. Life just seems to get easier in your 30's. You just don't care about the stuff that doesn't matter anymore. Don't get me wrong.. my 20s were a ton of fun, but my 30's have been even better.
@AliKay20 Happy birthday!! I turn 30 at the end of the year.
I had my first appointment today, and there's a healthy little squish in there!!! He/she is measuring correctly and has a heartbeat of 177. I'm 9 weeks today. They referred me to MFM to start monitoring me at 16 weeks to try to prevent another preterm birth. I'll be getting monthly cervical length checks and they'll put me on progesterone. Fingers crossed that I can make it the whole way this time.

Thirties have been great for me in a lot of ways. I had my first baby a few weeks before I turned thirty so I've only known the joy and frustration and love of motherhood. My twenties were fun and there are aspects that I miss but those aspects are less responsibilities and being single for most of the time and therefore I could be alone whenever I wanted. Really though that has nothing to do with the age. That was just the point in my life where it was different. Like galactickates, I make more money now. I'm more confident in myself and career and know where the battles truly lie and whether or not to fight them. I give a whole lot less Fs about pleasing others at the expense of me.
Totally random but @texasmommie - hope all is well! Haven’t heard from you in a while!!
@AliKay20 I know. I think I've been in my own little hole these days. Every appointment is always "everything is fine", which I know I should be grateful, but when you see blood 4-5 times a week it doesn't sit easy with me. Constantly wondering if this is it. Trying to stay positive. Thanks for checking up on me.
@texasmommie oh man, I know that feeling all too well from my pregnancy with DD and I just have to say that I am so sorry that you’re going through this. At one point, I just hated going to the bathroom because it was yet another reminder of my worries. Thinking of you and hoping your baby is growing well day by day. Feel free to PM me anytime! The anxiety is all too real despite what each appt tells you. Hugs.
