Re: STM+ Check-In 6/13
14 weeks, peach!
How are your other kids doing this week?
He's doing alright. We kind of lost steam on potty training since he's still so spotty about it. We still try every now and again but not all the time, we may pick it back up in a couple months since he doesn't seem too interested.
Rants/Raves?
Rant: I accidentally smashed DSs finger in a door over the weekend...he's fine now, but man I felt so bad!!
Rave: we've had a friend living with us since March and she's moving into her new apartment this weekend!! She's not been a bad roommate by any means, it'll just be nice to have our space back to just us.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Such a long list for me, lol. Definitely cottage cheese if I had to pick one. Idk if I could get past the texture!
DS2 due 12/12/18
How are your other kids doing this week? Mostly fine. Bedtime has been a little rough since we weaned, which I suppose is to be expected, but I'm also feeling less patient than usual, so that doesn't help. We also had a couple what I think might be night terrors a couple nights ago (followed by no napping that day), so everyone in my house is very tired.
Rants/Raves? How about two cute anecdotes? During bedtime, I always ask what name she wants me to sing to (sometimes she wants to hear "lullabye Maggie," sometimes it's "lullabye Nugget," sometimes it's "lullabye Margaret," but if I don't ask she'll absolutely insist that I'm singing it wrong no matter what I say... girl has lots of opinions). A few nights ago, she wanted to be the one singing, and she wanted to sing "lullabye Marion," so she pulled up my shirt, rubbed my belly, and sang a tonedeaf toddler tune to her fetus sister. It was absolutely adorable
Also, since we weaned I've been telling her that the boob is broken, and it doesn't work anymore, but she's been asking consistently, just in case. Last night, she didn't ask for boob, though. She furrowed her brow, looked at me and asked very seriously "Boob broken?" Yes, baby, still broken. "Mommy go a doctor! Doctor hep you! Doctor fix a boob!" Well, okay then. I guess I have my marching orders
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? Potatoes are disgusting. I don't even like vodka, y'all. So gross.
How far along are you/how big is baby?
15+3 today. Size of a pack of crayons!
How are your other kids doing this week?
This weekend was meltdown central. It was irritating at best. But he's been so dang cute the last couple days so it's made up for it.
Rants/Raves?
Rant: Our daycare switched locations Monday so instead of being across the street from my work and 10 minutes from home I now need to drive 10-15 mins to get to daycare then another 25 mins ish to get home due to traffic. It really sucks! and with number 2 coming we really can't change since this daycare is so much cheaper compared to alternatives closer to my house.
Rave: DH is expecting a decent bonus in July and I think i've talked him into the Halo, a new carseat of DS AND a lillebaby carrier
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
@CecilB93 this list is extremely long for me. Tuna? Or Olives? Or weird meats.
How are your other kids doing this week? Pretty good. My son (17 months) just figured out how to get himself onto the couch, so that's fun.
Rants/Raves? Kid-related, we had his next EDIS followup today and it went really well. I tend to turn into a depressed ball of nerves 2 weeks beforehand, and this time especially I was sure he hadn't learned anything new in the past two months other than, you know, how to walk. Actually, though, they were very encouraged by his progress in general, and left it up to me whether I want to bring him back for another evaluation in two months. (That's a yes. I like having an extra set of professional eyes on his development.) They are referring him out for a speech evaluation, but I knew that was coming. He was fairly borderline for needing it, but any extra help definitely doesn't hurt.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? I'm really not a picky eater, but I don't love raisins? I guess? Or like, NutriGrain bars because they're just sweet and gross.

How are your other kids doing this week? She's good. Had a great time at her birthday party and had her 1 yr appt yesterday. She got 4 shots but did so much better than I thought she would. I keep thinking she is going to walk but she inevitably crawls around instead.
Rants/Raves? I *think* she knows where her belly is. Every time I lay her down to put on her sleep sack I say where's your belly and she hits her stomach, but we can't seem to replicate it anywhere else lol
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? There are so many! Olives, mushrooms, anchovies, most seafood, I could go on and on lol
Oh my gosh @agk2015 your daughter is adorable!!
@AGK2015 That is adorable that she was singing to the baby. My son will randomly kiss my belly and it is the sweetest thing!
@kristah2 Childcare adding to your commute sucks. My in-laws volunteered to watch DS for us, which was awesome, but they live 25 minutes from our house and 30 minutes from where I worked. I felt like I spent all day in the car.
How far along you/how big is baby?
11 weeks, 2 days, so a lime!
How are your other kids doing this week?
He is great, so full of energy (nothing new). I swear he sucks it out of me! We are enjoying being home together, but not going to lie, I’m starting to get a little freaked out about keeping him from destroying the house while tending to a newborn all winter.
Rants/Raves?
Why did I bake chocolate chip cookies? I knew I would just keep eating them!
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Liver. I just can’t do it.
14+2, 3.5” and about 1.5oz
How are your other kids doing this week?
I’m off the rest of the week to watch them, so going to be spending a lot of time with them. Mostly at the pool, thank god.
They’re good, they are old enough that they don’t change too much week to week. They are obsessed with the baby, though. DD told me today she wished she could hug him. I’ve also been getting a lot of “you’re the best mom ever” since we told them, and idk how those are related but I’ll take it.
Rants/Raves?
I'm maybe 30% done with quilting the blanket for my niece who’s due at the end of next month. I have about 2.5 weeks before the shower so I gotta get my butt in gear.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
I'm a pescatarian so this probably goes without saying, but absolutely no lamb or veal. I just can’t.
15 weeks 1 day! Navel orange I think? Or I read someone else said magic 8 ball, which seems large but also awesome, haha.
How are your other kids doing this week?
DD is doing AMAZING. I love this age (2) so much. She is doing so well with potty training, I'm really proud of her. And she's been a champ about dad getting her to bed sometimes if I'm (still, sigh) feeling too nauseous at night. Which is great preparation for when the baby comes and I won't necessarily be able to get her to bed every night. And she's going through a super snuggly phase that I adore. Just super happy and loving every minute with DD lately.
Rants/Raves?
Today, so far, fingers crossed, is one of my better days as far as reflux and nausea, so I am hoping this trend continues! Minor rant - work is SUPER busy so I will rarely be able to post this week and I have no time for tags today - hope everyone is doing great though!!
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Pregnancy brain made me actually forget the name for a second, but watercress. I HATE watercress and will pick it out of everything. Something about the texture. Otherwise, I'm pretty much open to most foods.
@kristah2 glad I'm not the only picky person!! Lol. And I couldn't remember if there was a specific person who started this thread, just noticed it hadn't been done yet so I went ahead!
@runrinserepeat I eat meat and couldn't do either of those...
DS2 due 12/12/18
How far along are you/how big is baby? 15w3d - Size of a navel orange.
How are your other kids doing this week? My son is doing well! He's been so sweet and thankful lately. Always says "Thank you, mommy, thank you!"
Rants/Raves? Started planning his 3rd birthday which is in August. He wants a lego theme party, so a lego theme he shall receive! I've already started a pinterest board.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? Pork n Beans - The worst.

@PensiveCrayon what great feedback! I think it's hard to see progress sometimes when you're living with it and it happens in such little increments; glad you got some reassurance from people you trust.
@maureenmce Fingers crossed the worst is over! Also, watercress is a really weirdly specific answer. I don't know that I've ever had it, and if I have it hasn't been notable enough that I remember.
@texas_t I am deeply impressed by your motivation. We didn't bother with her 1st or 2nd birthday, and if we had I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have planned it more than a week or two in advance. Go you!
How are your other kids doing this week? Good, they are also older, so no big changes week to week. Because I have to take it easier and not lift things, etc due to the SCH found this week I had to tell them a version of the story so they knew I needed to take it easy and couldn't pick them up anymore etc. My 9 year old has been amazing. He carried my laptop to the car yesterday and I heard him tell one of my 6yo when he came inside crying, "go to mommy, approach her calmly".
Rants/Raves? My sister offered to come over and start cleaning my house to help out. It's been a long first tri of exhaustion and us being super busy. I've not done a great job of having my kids pick up after themselves, (#4 will be trained way differently!), so we need help for sure and I will gladly take the help.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? I'm pretty picky also - probably fish, but I'm sure there is a huge list of other things I won't eat either, that was the first thing that came to mind.
@AGK2015 Those are the most adorable stories!
@katy0990 and now I want chocolate chip cookies. Yum!
The older kids are at camp invention this week.
The only real rant I have is I’m so frustrated with the people at work just have not respect for other people and there stuff like today someone dumped a box of tiny pieces of paper and instead of pick it up they just let it. Than later someone knocked over my soda and they never cleaned it up they just left it for me.
The one food that I will never eat is mushrooms no way to hide that awful taste.
How are your other kids doing this week? Great. One graduated TKindergarten yesterday.!
Rants/Raves? Went and did my first trimester blood draws today. I was told to do it like 4 weeks ago but of course I go do it on the last day I'm allowed to. Oops. Got my complete blood count results back. Still ANEMIC just like I have been in every blood test for the last 6 years. Not excited for my doctor to call me regarding it. Literally can't force anymore iron into my body.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? cottage cheese. YUCK

How are your other kids doing this week? Great! Loves hearing the babies heartbeat on the doppler. So sweet
I love the lego theme idea! My daughter's bday is in July, and she's having "safari" theme. She didn't specifically request it, given she's turning 2, however she loves jungle animals; rhinos and elephants especially so I figure I'll make it safari themed. I also have a pinterest board for it.
@kristah2
Ugh, I feel you on so many levels about the daycare commute. My first daycare I had to overshoot work just to bring her there and the drive home was close to 45 mins. So not worth. My new daycare is on the mil base, which was convenient when we lived in mil housing, but now since we're moving; SO already gone and I'm staying behind a few months I decided to keep B in daycare there, but my parents (where I'm residing) is about 25 mins away. So that's a pain.
How far along are you/how big is baby?
11 weeks, size of a lime!
How are your other kids doing this week?
She's really good; getting better about saying she needs to potty. Over the weekend at my friends sons bday party (2nd bday) we attended was her first time she said she needed to poop, took her to the bathroom and she pooped in the potty! HUGE milestone! Only happened that one time, but still...progress!
Rants/Raves?
No real rants, being away from SO sucks though.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Uhm, I really don't like cottage cheese as someone mentioned above. Or yogurt/cream cheese, which is weird... I don't like the consistency though. I'll use cream cheese for cooking but not as a spread on a bagel.
12 weeks tomorrow. Something larger than a fig or a lime?
How are your other kids doing this week?
We barely survived this morning. She is all about autonomy but will not make a choice if there isn’t the option she wants. And has massive tantrums if forced to do something/we do it or pick for her.
We’re working on the idea that you can be upset, speak up about it, and still make the best of what feel like bad options - which gives you more control. It’s a pretty sophisticated but super-important idea.
Rants/Raves?
Work has been really good this week. I am making headway on a project that helps establishes me outside of my not-pleasant boss’s control for more of my work activities. Which is great motivationto push ahead, in addition to the fact that I’m actually interested in the project.
Also I’m really excited to tell our daughter she’s going to be a big sis. We have a present for her coming so when it arrives this weekend, we’ll tell her.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Eel. Can’t get over the texture. I’ll do any other sushi but cannot get over the sense that I’m eating snake with that texture. Or pork. For no reason other than visceral distaste.
@snugglyduckling25 awww, your son is so adorable!
@maureenmce so nice that she’s letting dad take over some bedtimes!! That’s our next goal here.
@pensivecrayon yay for progress!! That’s wonderful!
@agk2015 that’s so sweet! We also weaned this weekend. DS stop asking after the second day of me saying “mama milk all gone” (I think I had very little supply), then came a horrible few days of major meltdowns during activity transitions. He seemed to be nearly back to normal yesterday and is drinking his formula voluntarily at bedtime which is huge.
How far along are you/how big is baby?
13+5!
How are your other kids doing this week?
Mentioned above, struggling with weaning. Had his EIS eval was at the very low end, so we are starting therapy and I’m optimistic that will help him feel more confident using the skills he has and gain new ones quickly.
Rants/Raves?
Rant: Adulting is really hard this week. Really hard.
Rave: My spouse is my rock and just an amazing human being. I feel so blessed to have him and our son (and this little magic bean).
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
Quinoa. F*cking quinoa. For a long time it was the only seed/grain my son and I could have besides rice. FFTC: when he lost it as a safe, I wasn’t even sad. Bye Fu’Quinoa!
How are your other kids doing this week? DD is finally getting over her cold and sickness from the last 2/ 3 weeks. Except she gave it to me and I've had it for a week now. I am getting better but this sucks.
Rants/Raves? We are going to Disney Animal Kingdom tomorrow. We have tried to go 2 other times but we're rained out or I was to sick yongo. Third times a charm, right? I did blood test for sneak peek yesterday and I should know on Monday. Eek!
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
cottage cheese and sushi. Nope
@CecilB93I think it's probably much easier once they start to show interest! I hadn't planned on stating to potty train DS until he was at least two and a half, but he wanted to one day and we've been going from there. I use to love cottage cheese when I was younger, now I never eat it. I don't hate it, but it's definitely not a first choice.
@AGK2015 But... French fries?!?! Your DD is adorable.
@kristah2 I am a huge fan of the lillebaby! I also have the k'tan and like that but it is SO HOT in the summer.
@Jens_Hoes Yes! I agree on the anchovies and mushrooms. Gross.
@katy0990 Ohhhh... chocolate chip cookies. Now I want some.
@rinserunrepeat I won't eat lamb or veal either.
@maureenmce I hope you feel better.
@texas_t A lego party!! That sounds like fun.
@gorgeousariel I'm sorry you're sick. I hope you feel better soon! Have fun at Animal Kingdom! Do you guys have yearly passes?

How are your other kids doing this week? He is doing good. He is saying more and more words and saying more phrases it's so fun to watch him learn and grow. His hair is getting out of control (it's not THAT bad, his hair I just curly and not easy to tame lol), I really need to take him to get it cut but there just hasn't been time.
Rants/Raves: This is a rant and a rave. Our lawnmower is broken. DH took it to his uncle to fix, two months ago, and he still hasn't fixed it. I told DH he needed to get it back so I can take it somewhere and have it fixed. His mom's mower was not starting, but she got it to work... so finally after like 2.5-3 weeks, DH mowed our lawn and it is SO NICE having a yard that doesn't look like jungle.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? Mushrooms, anchovies, sushi.

@runrinserepeat he's the best. My 6 year old on the other hand, has decided to spin this on me. Last night he did not want to take a bath and was arguing with me about it. He said, "Mommy you should not get stressed out!" So basically, you go relax, I'm going to do what I want to do, you don't need to worry about it.
@AGK2015 How sweet is your daughter! I love that she wanted to sing to the baby. Too cute.
@PensiveCrayon So glad your eval went well! Sounds like he is doing great. I get what you mean about having those extra eyes on him. It can never hurt!
@katy0990 Love those pics! Very cute!
How far along are you/how big is baby?

How are your other kids doing this week?
My poor little bean is sick today. I feel bad because I thought she felt a little warm yesterday but she usually does feel a little bit on the warm side so I didn’t check her. Then I ended up going to my sister’s house and skipping her nap, came home and realized she was definitely warm and she had 101 fever. She’s still got a little fever but I’m not sure what it’s from. She seems ok other than being grumpy. 101 seems high for just teething.
Rants/Raves?
See above
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
I think sushi is ok but I don’t eat those big pieces of raw fish they put on top sometimes (is that sashimi?) . Also calamari if it’s not fried up so I can’t see it. The suckers on the tentacles really get to me lol.
11 weeks/lime
How are your other kids doing this week?
My son rolled his ankle last night before bed but I left for work before he woke up. My husband hasn’t texted me with issues but we’ll see!
Rants/Raves?
I just can’t wait to look pregnant and not fat.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat?
theres really nothing. I’m picky about some things but nothing is completely off the table.
How are your other kids doing this week? Really awesome. DS (18 mo) has been in such a great mood and a mama's boy lately it melts my heart. He STILL fights diaper changes which is frustrating. He's really repeating things we say - this morning I said "Hey you!" and he smiles all sly like and says "heyyyouu!"
Rants/Raves? DH is getting sick, boo! I hope he can get over the worst before he returns home tomorrow night.
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? Pickles. I just can't eat them, they don't taste good at all to me.
DS: 12/20/16

How are your other kids doing this week? she’s doing the best she can considering...
Rants/Raves? DD has bad bad diaper rash—so bad that skin has broken! I feel terribly & I’m so mad at daycare for letting it get this bad!
GTKY: What is one food you refuse to ever eat? I eat most everything. But someone mentioned liver above and I’d have to second that.
You basically want something to dry the moisture out instead of keep it in. It works like a dream! I keep a container in DS's room at all times.
Other than that, I’ll be getting a play gym since the one I had didn’t work out last time and again, I’m a sucker for good marketing. (Lovevery). A new wubbanub and maybe a few different types of pacifiers. A few different types of bottles since I think insurance covers all feeding paraphernalia. Milk storage bags. New pump. Wipes galore, and some NB diapers to get me through meconium poo. Non-necessity purchases I may make include some books, toys, and clothes.

@whaat I might buy some clothes, because this baby will be born in the opposite season. New nipples, pacifiers, and other than the obvious (diapers, wipes) not really anything. I'll probably get some gas drops and gripe water too.
