Re: Newbie Intro Thread w/o 6/11
I've been a lurker for... A couple years haha. I am finally taking the jump into actually communicating.
Ages (you and SO): 27/29
How many months have you been TTC? Four months this time, after having taken a break from it.
*TW*
We just found out this month was a cp. I have had five previous miscarriages in the past couple of years.
*End TW*
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Nothing too exciting yet. Tracking my cycle, cm, cp, and trying for good timing. I've been trying to add relaxing into it.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I have been working with those living with some form of dementia for going on twelve years now. My husband is convinced I don't know how to not be working haha. When I am at home I enjoy the company of my two school age children, two goldendoodles and a cat. I am an avid reader, quilter, and general crafter. I also enjoy the outdoors, baking, cooking, and mild car repair. I am so excited to finally join the community that I have taken comfort from for so long. I only hope I can help support and comfort as well as I have already received. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

How many months have you been TTC?
Went off BC in January, started tracking things and putting more of a concentrated effort into TTC last month.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?
I started tracking my BBT last month. My plan is to stick with timing according to BBT for a while/taking ovulation tests. If that doesn't work, I'll up my game.
At the moment, I'm trying not to stress myself out too much. I had been trying to better my and my husband's weight/overall health before really focusing in on TTC, and we're at the point where we're ready to truly focus on it.
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 (and had been put on BC at that point). After getting off BC, I had no idea what my situation would be. I had regular periods from January-April, but skipped last month. I'm hoping it was a fluke and should be getting it in a few days...
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
I quit my job last fall to pursue my dream of writing! Since then, I have been researching and planning. I just started actually writing a few weeks ago and am about 16% of the way to my writing goal! (I'm writing a children's/young adult fantasy series). I love reading, easy hiking, watercolor painting, and animals. I have two guinea pigs who are my little snuggly babies. I dream of having a corgi and an actual pig someday!
Ages (you and SO): I’m “thirty-through”, as my mom used to say once she hit 40, my husband is a very young-looking 50.
How many months have you been TTC? This is is my first month ever trying to conceive on purpose.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Not much. I’m rarely ever in the mood & am just trying to match those rare moments up to good ovulation timing.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I have a grown daughter in college & a 2-yr-old daughter with my new husband. I’ve already raised one as an only child—I don’t want my toddler to grow up feeling like another ‘only child’ since her big sis is so much older.
I work a LOT as an educator. I enjoy relaxing when I’m not at work or at home finishing work on the laptop. From what I’m learning on this app, charting & the whole TTGP process is about to become my hobby.
Ages (you and SO): 34 & 40
How many months have you been TTC? This is month 5
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?
I have started charting over the past month and a half. I'm now recording BBT and CM. I'm using an OPK, too. I listened to a great audiobook called The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant - I definitely recommend it!
I was so naive and thought it would just 'happen' after I went off birth control. I know, I know... Clearly, I haven't been seriously thinking about this until very recently. So here I am.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
My main hobbies lately have been spoiling my bad-tempered kitty (she's so cute though!) and working on establishing a native-plant/bird-friendly/water-saving gardens in our yard. We just bought a house this year, so I'm pretty new to gardening for myself, but have plenty of unreasonably high expectations
I'm also into bird watching, but haven't been too active with that lately. I love all forms of dance - I perform with a group and also enjoy a few forms of social dancing (DH is also a fantastic dance partner!).
Looking forward to getting to know y'all!
Ages (you and SO): 28 & 30

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? The deed - a lot! Also, using an app on my phone that tracks ovulation.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
First, let me say that I understand the 72 hour waiting period. It took me about that much time to learn the abbreviations (I still don't know them all!) My husband and I are both educators and are patiently waiting for summer break to begin. We have a 2.5 year old son who keep us very busy. I'm an avid reader, but my guilty pleasure is trash TV (any other Real Housewives fans out there? I also recently started raising chickens and it has been so much fun!
Looking forward to making new friends on this journey!
Ages (you and SO): Me- 30 DH- 34
How many months have you been TTC? 1 month
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? I just had my implanon birth control removed. I'm temping, peeing, and humpin' it out!
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I was a part of the community 5 years ago while conceiving my DD (now 4 yrs old). It's nice to be back and see how things have evolved. I work for the school system and I am counting the days until summer vacation!

How many months have you been TTC? 12 months
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? As lesbians, neither of us have sperm So, first we tried a known donor and syringes, but due to my thyroid and ovulation issues we're now onto sperm banks and IUIs.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We live on a small farm with dogs, cats, chickens, cows, sheep, pigs, etc. I try to grow a garden every year, and this year I succeeded! My fertility doctor says I shouldn't do anything special with regards to my activities (except for the first 24hrs after IUI), like wrangling sheep and lifting 50lbs repeatedly, so I'm going on that advice. Right now our living comes from pottery, but we'll see about that. Curious about how a child will change our lives, can't wait to find out.
How many months have you been TTC? Just this one! Ahh! So weird to be doing this on purpose.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? I stopped my BC (NuvaRing) back on April 30 after being on it for 14 years (!!!!), tracking CM and using the Flo app.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
We do not have any kids, but we do have two rescue mutts. I garden, cook, bake, sew, quilt and knit. I'm not working anything other than odd jobs here and there at the moment - my husband is military and it makes working full time difficult. I do Crossfit with my husband and ski which will be difficult to give up one we conceive.
How many months have you been TTC? None, officially. We have just been not preventing.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? I was diagnosed with PCOS very young and I don't have regular cycles. When I was 25 I had a molar pregnancy (after 2 years without BC). That was with an ex so in the end I'm grateful it didn't work out...
My Dr just last month put me on Provera to regulate cycles and jump to the next by CD35 instead of waiting and having 50-60 day cycles. In September we plan to start Clomid. I also just purchased the book Taking Control of Your Fertility which I'm halfway through and love!! My period started today and I'm beginning to chart and temp. I feel like a total fertility nerd!!
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have a 7 year old furbaby (pitbull) who is the current love of our lives... SO is in healthcare adminstration and I'm in management for a data firm. We like cooking, date nights, going for walks, and watching horrible yet addicting TV like The Bachelor/Bachelorette and Family Fued and Jersey Shore family reunion lol...
Happy, nervous and excited to be here!! Nice to meet you all!
@harrierwife I also love skiing! You'd be surprised how much you are still able to do early on in your pregnancy. My doctor told me it was perfectly fine to ski in the first trimester because the baby is well protected in your pelvis region. I actually mountain biked when I was about 10 weeks along with my son (I gave it up shortly after that though!). My Doctor just wanted me to be cognizant of my heart rate, and not let it get too high (I think over 130ish bpm). That being said, all doctors are different (and it totally depends on your ability to do XYZ) so you should get approval before you do anything potentially "risky". Welcome!!
Ages (you and SO): 27/35
How many months have you been TTC? Currently on cycle 4. We started trying as soon as my cycle returned (which was 9 months PPD)
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? First month did nothing other than HIO. Second month I added in OPKs. Last month I added in temping. From those, I learned that I am O'ing pretty late (CD20-21) and I have a short cycle (cycles 1 and 2 were only 23 days. The one that just ended was 28 so that's better, but still need to lengthen LP).
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) DH and I have one DD (turns 1 at the end of the month). We also have 2 dogs. We are working parents so life is pretty busy, but we enjoy outdoors (we love to hike), sports, and hanging out with our friends.
edited to correct numbers
How many months have you been TTC? 3, but the first month we weren't actively trying or preventing.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Mirena removed March 2018, prenatal vitamins for me, zinc and vitamin C for DH, BD, OPKs, BBT, trying CM (haven't mastered that yet), and increasing darkness in bedroom at night (I listened to Episode 53 from the "Fertility Friday" podcast about the effect of light on women's horomones and thought I'd give it a go).
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) Hi everyone! I am so happy to have an online community to discuss all this stuff with. DH has requested that we keep everything on the downlow for now with friends and family, so it's nice to tell someone we're trying! I am a marathon runner and overall a very active person. I love trying new things and pretty much everything outdoors. I have a sweet 15 year old kitty that I've had since he was abandoned as a kitten. I also have 3 (almost 4) nephews that I adore. Thanks for wecoming to The Bump!
How many months have you been TTC? 6ish months. Had Mirena removed late Nov 2017
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? BD eod during fertility window. Going to try opks next cycle. Can't really temp bc of our pets waking me up at random times throughout the night.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have 1 dd that will be 6 in August. We also have 2 dogs (ages 9.5 and 3) and 2 cats (ages 2 and 10 months). DH works full time. I work from home with an online pet accessory store. We just got some kayaks so that's been fun so far.
Welcome. I would suggest changing your username to something other than your email.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU) - OPKs, Tracking my cycle with an app
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I am a first grade teacher and my husband works for a local cable/internet company. We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary at the beginning of June. We both enjoy reading, hiking, kayaking, bike riding, and travel. My husband is also co-owner of a haunted house attraction so that is his hobby. I don’t like anything scary! I feel like I know some of you already, but I am looking forward to becoming part of this community and being able to give and receive support on this crazy journey!
Ages (you and SO): I'm 35 and he'll be 38
How many months have you been TTC: Not preventing for about 5 weeks, but since I went off the pill in the middle of the pack, my hormones went all crazy and I'm still waiting for a period to show up. In case you were considering going off BCPs mid-pack, don't do it!
WAYDTGKU: thinking about starting to temp and chart? Probably won't do much until my cycle comes back...We'll also probably check my husband's sperm count/motility/other parameters if things don't happen soon-ish because we've had a vasectomy and a reversal.
Tell us about yourself: I am a SAHM and crazy person who wants more kids, even though we have five. My DH is an engineer. We just moved from southern CA to Santa Cruz for work, and are living at a little tiny beach house until we find a permanent place.

Ages (you and SO): 34/34
How many months have you been TTC: NTNP 8 months, actively TTC 2 months
WAYDTGKU: Charting to monitor CM and intercourse, just this (mid) month started temping, attempting SMEP
Tell us about yourself: Work in health care. A bit crafty. Have a big dog and a crazy cat whom I love dearly. Scared of babies until my sister had one last year and now I realize (1) it's possible to have one and not implode and (2) our lives are actually so much better and more beautiful because he's here. So feeling slightly less afraid and more hopeful these days
How many months have you been TTC? 4 months of not preventing; 2 months of actively trying.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU) - BBT (Clearblue Easy OPKs don't work for me but I may try a different brand), prenatal vitamins with methylfolate, vitex, maca, COQ10, fish oil, melatonin, DHEA, acupuncture every 3 weeks
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) No kids - I didn't think I wanted them until recently... definitely late to the party but happy to be going on this journey!
