Update: The surgeon ordered an x-ray and it shows by bone is fully healed so they aren't concerned that the infection went to my bone. So they are recommending surgery. They will wash out the entire area and remove the hardware. It will be less invasive and 3-4 week recovery.
While he's in there he's going to look at my rotator cuff again and see if it's fully healed. If not then he will attach it again but that would mean more recovery time but better lifetime range of movement. He doesn't see that will be the case as I have good range now but says while he's in there is should look at it. He did reasure me it won't be as traumatic and painful as before.
Infectious diseases said they could suppress my infection until after the baby is born to do surgery but I'm more concerned about: A ) it getting out of hand and spreading and having to do surgery in the 3rd trimester when it's risky B ) the recovery with a newborn will be harder - not being able to pick up the baby!
So my decision is surgery now and that was discussing all the risks with my OB, surgeon, infectious diseases and mother risk (a program here that specializes in mothers and risks associated with drugs, surgery and other risks to be aware of) I feel confident that it is the best option and my team of doctors are going to look after me and the baby.
I'm just waiting now to get the surgery scheduled in the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks again for all your support and thoughts. It truly is amazing to have strangers care so much about each other and our unborn babies!

Sorry the surgery is necessary in the first place but I’m glad it’s not worse than it is! I agree it’s the smartest decision to do it now so you can heal as much as possible before the little one gets here. Hope it all goes well!
I'm glad it sounds like one of the better case scenarios for your situation. I'd be stressed and worried, but agree that surgery now is probably best. I'm glad you have a good team of medical staff to help!
So glad to hear it's not in your bone, and things are better than they thought! All my thoughts and prayers will be with you as you go through your surgery. Glad you have such a good team, that's worried about you both!
Glad to hear that you got better news and a plan in place for recovery. We will be praying for your upcoming surgery- let us know the date so we can be praying on the day, too!
Glad you have a plan forward. I agree that now what be the best time for surgery because it would be extremely difficult to recover and attempt to take care of a newborn.
My surgery has been scheduled for Friday June 22nd. As always I really am thankful to all those who are praying for us. I might not be religious but I do take comfort in strangers rallying around each other and your thoughts and prayers.

So many people I forget what's going on or key dates. I had been wondering where Kiwi was, until she posted about her London trip again and I remembered she was on vacay.
@chyvie I’m sorry you have to have surgery but glad you have a great medical team and a plan in place. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Sorry you still have to have surgery but I am happy for you that it sounds like it will be a shorter recovery and that you can be mostly healed by the time baby comes. I will be keeping you in my thoughts! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
Not sure what time zone you're in, but surgery should only be a handful of hours away. Thinking of you and sending all the good luck, positive energy and T&PS. You'll do amazing!
