Oooohhhhh!!! I love this! We’re thinking a travel/adventure theme with a healthy dose of Disney/Pixar inspiration but with more muted neutral colors to keep it calming. I’m sooo excited to get to a point hopefully soonish where I feel comfortable enough to really research and plan and eventually shop. I’m just gonna have to really check myself with the spending on this - I love decorating!
A little back story into my weirdo life. I pick an animal to represent my kids. My DD is an owl and DS is an elephant. I don't know why. I just feel an animal and they are then that. I know it's strange. The baby I lost last fall was a peacock. This one is a bear. So I will probably do a bear nursery. Regardless of sex.
I'm thinking about a storybook theme, mostly because DH would never go for a full Harry Potter theme lol. This way I could at least slide in a little HP stuff.
DH likes the storybook theme, and actually went looking on his own for related decoration ideas. I thought that was adorable.

I should show you my HP nursery board on pinterest. It was definitely my theme last year. It might still be if DH doesn't go for all the bears.
yesss I am unreasonably excited about decorating my nursery! I'm thinking some kind of woodland theme with lots of floral/botanical elements. This is the room where I keep a lot of my plants right now and they'll probably stay there (they're all up on shelves- it will be quite a while before the baby could get into them) so I'm working the theme around them a bit.
The walls are currently this pinky beige color and I plan on keeping them that way I think I want to do an accent wall with this wallpaper. It also comes in a dark gray background:
For furniture, I'm really digging the cribs in West Elm's new baby line, but I'm not totally confident in West Elm's furniture quality so I'll definitely hang back and wait for reviews before buying anything.
I’m so excited to decorate a nursery this time. With DD we moved when she was 2 weeks, 5 months and 8 months so we went pretty minimalist and didn’t decorate at all. Right now I’m leaning towards a woods/nature theme.
@AshVA HP will almost definitely make an appearance. I’m thinking maybe a gallery wall of art prints of quotes about adventure from some of our favorites.
Also was in London and went to the gallery of a graphic design duo who do a ton of the work for HP movies and they had prints of the alphabet they used on HPs childhood bedroom wall. They said they designed it to look like lily drew it for harry. I was so close to buying but it was expensive and way too early. Definitely keeping it in mind though.
Star Wars. Doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl. Lol. Seriously tho, if I have a daughter it will mostly be grey and purples with female star wars leads and certain other star wars things with bows on them.
With my DD I did a theme based around a birthday card I got that year. I framed it and used it as my inspiration and it still hangs in her room now. I’m on the look out for something similar, but probably won’t decide 100% until we find out the sex and decide on a name.
So the first thing DH did when he found out I was pregnant was purchase a couple of dinosaur lamps. I was super excited that he was embracing it since he has been very neutral about having kids. But I guess I need to plan around that? Maybe we can expand and make it a general animal theme. (I like dinosaurs a lot so I’m not complaining — it just seems a little limiting!)
DDs nursery is a starfish/ sea theme. I'm not sure if we are going to have the kids share the room or of we are going to turn our back room into a master and then each kid can have their own room. If we don't that, then that means im decorating 2 rooms, which isn't the worst thing in the world
I have zero idea on 1. turning current nursery to a different one so 2. DD can move to a bigger room next door which would also need a new theme for toddler/big girl room.
Oh my. This has become the argument of the century for DH and I. He grew up in an orphanage in Romania, so to him the idea of having a room dedicated to the baby is absolutely ludicrous. I, being my hormonal self, have broken down in tears multiple times already and made some statement about how I'll just move my stuff to make room for the baby in our room.
For a boy I really want a mountain theme. For a girl, I have no idea.
Before I had DD I wanted a boys nursery to be lion king themed. I'm not really sold on that anymore. DDs nursery theme is owls. And I didn't have any other ideas that I really wanted to use for a girl. So basically I'm back at square one. But nothing wrong with that! Just means I'll get to use A LOT of pinterest.

For DS1 I did a fairly gender neutral, clean cottage feel. We had a chandelier and fur rug, and white furniture that we’ll probably reuse for this one. We’re in a new house now and don’t use the upstairs except for guests currently. DS1 has his own room downstairs and we will put this LO in our master since it’s large enough to put a small nursery in. We currently have dark charcoal grey walls with gold, black, and white accents but will probably do something simple like these two. I do want floral wallpaper for a girl, mainly because H would never let me do it normally so this would be my chance.
For DS room we did a giraffe theme with grey and blue. I painted some old furniture from my grandma's house white and we got our crib and glider off of an auction site. I think for everything including paint we spent like $150....hopefully we can be as resourceful this time
I probably wont be decorating the nursery too much this time around as we will hopefully be listing our house shortly after the baby is born. But when we move into our new house, it is on!
I only have ideas if it's a girl because I found some beautiful 3-D flowers at Hobby Lobby that I fell in love with. Kind of like this:
I'm thinking of doing a music themed room if it's a boy. I found some lyrical prints from Etsy that I like.
For DS, I did a Pottery Barn sports theme because his dad is a football coach. His walls are dark grey, white trim. His main colors are navy and red. It turned out really cute.
If this one is a girl, I am interested in a few things. I like this coral and teal nursery with a nautical theme, but our whole house is nautical themed because we live near the beach. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/526921225145364763/
We moved into our house when I was about 7 months pregnant with DD. It is a 3 bedroom and we always hoped to have to kids. Both kids bedrooms are upstairs. Before moving anything in, we painted the walls and trim of both bedrooms. The walls are a light tan/sand color with white trim. The floor is a dark brown right now but we want to put in tan carpet eventually in both.
DD's room didn't really have a theme, but pastel colors. I wanted it to feel calming. We have a mint/aqua bedding set, light tan glider, dark wood crib and changing table, white toy box, white dresser. It's kind of a hodge podge of things but it's perfect and is coming together more as her personality develops. We put up sheer white curtain and one of those fabric garland things to drape at the top that has aqua/pink/lilac/green/yellow pastels etc.
We will decide more once we find out the sex but will probably do a similar concept. Kind of pick colors we like and add decorations that go with it. The glider will move to the new baby's room so we can put a doll House in DD's room. Oh we will probably also get the same crib or one similar because it's convertible and we really liked it
For a boy I'm leaning towards deep red and navy accents though
I keep bouncing between going all out on a nursery or just a basic crib and dresser. Our kids will be almost six years apart if this baby sticks and part of me wants to go low key and the rest full throttle. Maybe I'll let DS pick, his nursery was travel themed and now his room is Star Wars.
@catlady2015 DH built a book case in DDs room. We have so may books now he is going to have to build a matching one. I have been put on a book buying ban. Lol
@catlady2015 umm I’m kind of in love with your library idea (and I already have a nursery)! My MIL is a retired 1st grade teacher and we inherited her entire book collection - we literally have at least 500 books, I can’t even keep them all out. This idea is genius
@olivemomma - I'm obviously a librarian (albeit for a health business) and both DH and I are giant bookworms. I couldn't think of a better way to make a gender neutral nursery than to kid book it up. I might throw in some stars, something space related, and find some saying about how books take you to another realm to frame.
“So it is with children who learn to read fluently and well: they begin to take flight into whole new worlds as effortlessly as young birds take to the sky.” William James
I'm reusing current DS's room, which has a hot air balloon theme. You can't see it in the picture, but there are hot air balloon decals and pictures on the walls and there are some maps. I've always liked hot air balloons because they remind me of my grandpa.

For DS we painted the walls blue and did grey and yellow accents. I think for this kiddo we’ll paint the walls the same color grey as our master befroom and either do purple accents for a girl or blue and yellow again for a boy.
We are doing a Disney/Pixar theme with an emphasis on the movie UP. DH and I love all things Disney and have always wanted to do a Disney room for our kids. Unfortunately, DD and DS have ZERO interest in Disney at all. They don’t even like the movies. So this baby is getting all of our Disney and “happily ever after” enthusiasm.

I just decided to so a rainbow/ROYGBIV theme. White Walls and lots of colors. Pretty simple. DH wants to do Disney theme so we'll probably mix that in.
DD has a HP nursery we planned to reuse it but we’re going to be moving. I might do something a bit more ... muted this time. Maybe just a more subtle HP
This baby will be going into DS1's old room, which is mostly neutral with a navy and white striped accent wall. If this baby is a girl I'm planning to just add some peachy/pink watercolor accents and call it good. Hobby Lobby had a bunch of pretty watercolor prints in navy/peach/pinks/white so I'm thinking that will be just girly enough.
side note: we moved all three big brothers into one "Big Kid" room tonight- wish us luck! (Also realize it was so dumb to attempt night one on July 4, but it was the day we could actually get the room together since DH was off work)
